Miller's crossing 8.5/10
This movie tried to be like the godfather, and for me really came close to achieving that status. I consider it an aesthetic brilliance and I found myself mesmerized by the performance, the score, the story and the ending.

Burn after reading 7.5/10 I will give it to the coen brothers, they are funny and they know how to make fun of every situation. although this movie is not the kind of comedy that gets you cracked up from beginning to end, but the scenes that you'll find funny will throw your off guard and rolling on the floor spilling your guts. The movie is riddled with idiocy and self-aggrandizing morons, just thinking about it now got me grinning like a donkey. |

KoiceReloaded: I see what you did there.
But seriously, this shit_ is not a joke.
I don't have any problem with a strong female lead in a popular franchise, provided she doesn't replace an established male figure. She can co-lead, there is nothing with that, or be given her own franchise that would run parallel to the original.
I mean, I can't wrap my head around this crazy notion of retiring an almost century old legacy, in order to pander to mere political correctness. Fuck_political correctness. Yes, fuck_ it! What's next? Sherlock Holmes? Are we gonna have a Shirley Holmes in the future? It won't surprised me in the least, bro. These movie head-honcos be smoking some heavy stuff, fo' real. I complained about this the other day and you were like "neh neh neh neh neh neh I'm neutral, follow the tide and so forth..." Now you're pissed You're pissed motherfvcker Well welcome to the club! have a seat, I'll have the fat ass waitress serve you a bloody Mary and then we can discuss your problems. |

The hateful eight 8/10 Quentin Tarantino is a master of dialogue, tension, story progression and aestheticization of violence (to this man, 90% of the human body is made of blood ) and the remaining 10% is made of crazy, satirical, dark humor. I've never watched a QT character I didn't like, even the borderline evil ones. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by losprince(m): 4:59pm On Aug 01, 2019 |
pryme: Mindlessly? We are talking Tarantino here. Am very familiar with his work. And mindlessness is one of them. I don't care the context, its like playing Mohammed Ali in a movie where he was beaten by an old white stuntman. THAT IS PURE INSULT TO ONE OF THE ICONS IN HISTORY.
The Inglorious Bastards was a remake of the very old movie, and they were nothing alike, the remake was more like a comedy.
Context or not Bruce Lee's name should not be dragged in the mud like this, he is dead, Tarantino should not kick him as he is down. Guy chill, it's quite possible for Bruce Lee to get beat, him getting his ass whopped shouldn't deter you from going to see an interesting work of fiction. |

KoiceReloaded: As someone that has already seen Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, allow me to assure that it's no satire, or alternate history or whatever. A lot of events that transpired in the movie actually happened. It's serious through and through. It's allegorical in some aspects as you would expect of a QT movie, but it's also by some miles, the most somber/staid flick of his to date.
It is wrong to compare it to satirical Inglorious Basterds for this reasons. I accept your input on that, I've read a lot of articles and watched countless interviews with the cast and QT so I understand that it's not satirical and I take back my comparison, I'm also well aware that the movie depicted events that actually happened in real life, like the Mason family business, but it's still not going to be thorough and accurate, QT will definitely give his own version of events presumably for dramatic and entertainment purpose. That guy was criticising the movie based on reading that Brad Pitt's character beat Bruce Lee, which is quite possible and that isn't a good reason to write a film off. |

pryme: i read online that Brat Pit whooped Bruce Lee's ass in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, if thats the case i think Tarantino has gone too far with his craziness and has crossed the line.
Just like Captain Marvel, this is also in my black list. It's an alternate history, he is entitled to take liberties. Remember Inglorious basterds? Hitler got blown to smithereens. Tho I understand it's criminal to butcher a legend like Bruce, but I suggest you see the movie first; this is not a director that mindlessly incorporates things into his pictures, everything has a reason to be there, and if viewed through the right context, makes good sense. |

Fargo 9/10
This movie, God. After watching, I couldn't get it out of my mind and one hour later I was rewatching. The way the makers mix the chaos happening with little mundane things like watching TV, having dinner, it just denotes masterpiece. Little things like a bloody psychopath killer being shocked by a woman on tv breaking the news of her pregnancy to her lover, the coen brothers are worth their onions.
And they actually led people to go digging around Fargo in search of the briefcase, because of the whole true story thing, haha, incredible. |
