Very good points by the OP.

Country of government blamers. My favourite is ''we don't manufacture common toothpicks'', the implication being it's the govt's fault.

Pray, is it govt's job to build toothpick factories?

Or is it your job as a member of the private sector?

What stops you from starting a toothpick manufacturing business in your backyard, if you notice there's a gap in the market, leading to importation of same?

Much easier to blame Buhari, or blame ''Nigeria'', and sit on your fat asss.
Trump has created 7million jobs in his first term. Common adequate minimum wage law the government cannot pass, and you guys sit here blaming the average Nigerian citizen for the woes of the country. Is the average Nigerian citizen responsible for thwarting efforts to call for better government representation? Or what is the average Nigerian citizen supposed to do about the epileptic power supply apart from protesting? You guys should think twice before labeling the already maltreated Nigerian citizen as the problem.

OruExpress:
And this goes for all governments including Buhari's.

Ask yourself why state workers are the only workers in Nigeria that at guaranteed minimum wage, benefits and vacation, while everyone else is not 100% sure they will be paid for years of work in the private sector. Unless of course they find a job with a foreign company in Nigeria, but at that point what is the differentiating factor other than working for a Nigerian. The rest of us, if we can find work, are subject to nepotism, rape, beatings, humiliation, degradation, insults, to the point that the average Nigerian is employed be someone who treats them worst than an enemy ever could.

This example is small. Buhari is wicked, incompetent, and lawless. But does this differ from the average pastor, iman, lecturer, police officer, husband or even parent? Anytime the greater bulk of Nigerians are given authority, the concentrate their energy on making others feel less than or trapped. At least Buhari is looking out for Fulani people all over West Africa. Who can the average wheelbarrow pusher tell you he's looking out for? What the little authority he has as a wheelbarrow pusher he will hit as many legs as possible, and argue with anyone that objects to the pain. He will damage people's clothes and frustrate them to that small but consistent extent that he can. If you give this person an army and oil budget, what will he do? The woman that beats and degrades her 'house girl' (slave) at every given chance... what will this person do if asked to tend an entire country of poor people?

As much as we want to blame the government for Nigeria's problems, the truth is we excel at creating pain and frustration for each other. Countless Nigerian homes are staffed with fathers who's income begins with their hand and ends with their stomach alone. Many parents cannot keep valuables in their house because their own children will steal it. Most pastors, when given a chance to speak will focus on creating animosity and paranoia from their followers. The hear more prophecies than all of the prophets combine, and declare and decree more than Jesus ever did. Go to a Nigerian church and all you will hear is 'binding' 'devil' 'fire' 'blood' 'destroy' 'rebuke' 'hate' 'steal your destiny' 'die, die, die'. Then after hearing this bloodthirsty sermon for four hours, a person will emerge from that church filled with the spirit of division and conflict, which he or she (usually she) will call 'the holy spirit'. Go to church anywhere else and you will walk out with new insights on life and a hopeful feeling. Go to Nigeria and someone has buried your destiny in the sand and must die. And don't let me start with the imams.

So what will it be? I cannot ask everyone to change Nigeria, and this is only a post on a forum so I don't expect to do miracles. But please, whatever authority you have in your personal life, and the authority you will soon gain, please be humane to the people around you. Whether you're the person with the wheelbarrow or the next president, live a life that makes life a blessing.
Government workers are still owed salaries, if you doubt me ask the people of Kogi State. Are you shying away from the truth or you are just ignorant of what pensioners go through in Nigeria? You claim only government workers are guaranteed pay, but this is false as I pointed in my opening sentence. Just so you know, we have thousands of local industries/companies who take pride in treating their staff fairly even when there are no laws looking out for Nigerian workers. For every other local company or industry who do not treat their workers fairly, who do you think is to blame? I will help you out; the blame falls squarely on the government. Reason being that it’s the responsibility of the government to make laws that would benefit the ordinary citizens, and they are supposed to make sure those laws are enforced.

Romance / Re: No Sex Before Marriage: Did I Overreact? by Lotechi(m): 2:23pm On Jan 11, 2020
Lyydia:
There's this guy that we have been dating for 6 months, we love each other very well and we plan on marrying each other.

Here is the deal, we plan on no sex before marriage due to personal reasons. I don't ask for money also, we do cuddle and kiss sometimes. But not sex!

Of recent, he has been acting strange and wants to go beyond our normal cuddle level. I cautioned him about this and he promised to change! But he still does this.

Yesterday it happened again as I got furious and asked him to leave.

Did I overreact? I called, he has not picked up since yesterday.
I really do not understand why people give that condition. How do you marry someone without having sex with them? I’m just asking though, because it sounds strange to me.

angry grin

This is a very bad idea. DSTV should be the only cable broadcasting all Football matches. Its not their fault we don't have suave businessmen who are brave to invest in cable stations. Imagine if one useless cable like startimes have monopoly rights to premier league and dstv retains their champion league rights.. are you saying we would start hunting and buying for 2 or more cable TV to watch matches?

It's not by force to subscribe for Dstv, if you are broke, you can go for GOTV or Strong TV. Dont be who you are not.
I really do not know the angle you are looking at this from, but I do think this is a welcome development. No more skyrocketing of DSTV subscription.

Any man that can stay "10 months" without sex isn't a "sex addict". I don't know why some people just like to create imaginary problems for themselves, you are healthy brah, all you have to do is channel that sexual energy to your lady and a few side chics(if you are a variety man) or stay loyal to only your lady and your palms, you will reach a certain age and slow down naturally. Stop looking for what isn't missing, every "normal" man wakes up with erection every single day...... angry
you took the words out of my mouth. From the story, it sounds like he is not allowed to have sex with his girlfriend, and that is really sad. Sex is healthy.

You are right
But not 100 %

Let's use our country Nigeria as an example

Most of the tribalism in Nigeria is fuelled by what our parents parents told us

You can't deny it
You know
.While some of us have chosen to jettison such tribal superiority nonsense
Many are still victims of it
They refused to change partly because they wrre indoctrinated by Childhood

A study I read showed that most people start exhibiting racist /tribalism tendencies from 6-7 years
Prior to that
99% of kids don't show racial behaviour, as they see their peers from elsewhere as same

So you see
My point is still valid
Even tho I understand that by choice, we can struggle to break free from it
You are right also. My point is these white guys are not victims. Most of them have had the opportunity to interact with black people, but chose to hold into their belief.

Because the society was designed to make whites think they are the alpha race

So the white cracker is very much a VICTIM of white supremacists ideology as the the black man
part of being an adult is having the freedom to know right from wrong, truth from lies. Whites are not victims, they chose to believe the lies that have been peddled for generations.

Travel / Nigerian Students In The States by Lotechi(m): 3:22pm On Jan 09, 2020
Lots of struggles and uncertainty for the average Nigerian student in the states. So I figured it would make sense if a section is created specifically for Nigerian students who are studying in U.S or Canada to share experiences and help each other.

When you live in the states, you will definitely have a different perspective about slavery, racism, and every other racial injustices. In my opinion, Americans (mostly white) are actively or passively racist.

This is the change we voted for.
Slow and steady we are getting there as a nation.
Slow and steady Nigeria will be great again.

This is part of the important ways to fish out charlatans from our country.
Charlatans that the evil minded politicians import from neighboring countries to cause unrest and mayhem in our nation.

Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime.
God bless President Muhammadu Buhari as he is doing all he can to make our great nation work again from the bastardized years of the locust and looters.

God bless Nigeria.
first I do not think Nigeria was ever great. Second, the FG is proposing a 1million Naira fine when an average worker do not earn up to 1million Naira annually. Don’t forget that corrupt politicians are still roaming around the corridor of power and nothing has been done to them.

That is a citizen's right..... calling for revolution? now that's a different kettle of fish. I don't know you, but do tell me, since Sowore's detention has protests not held in Nigeria? Has anyone been detained indefinitely for those protests?
Countless groups have been stopped from organizing a protest in Nigeria. But the crux of the matter is how would a democratic government fail to respect the ruling of a court countless times? That shit is scary.

I do not think low self esteem is the only reason people opt for cosmetic surgery. Humans sometimes want to feel beautiful and they go to different lengths to do so. It’s like fixing of nails and hair.

Pretty confusing! What if someone like our own gay king says she feels comfortable being a lady. Does that narratives justify surgery?

Surgery in all it’s entirety to modify what God has given to you is totally wrong and should not be condoned!
God is not responsible for anyone’s physical appearance. Your parents are responsible for that. Just so u know, creation ended a very long time ago.
