DropShot:There have been a few faux pas by the APC gov't that have brought us here. The now misquoted and infamous 5% comment. The inaugural speech that addressed the shutdown of the amnesty program. The warrant for Tompolo's arrest and subsequent invasion of his home kingdom of Gbaramatu. Buhari isn't a politician. He's a military man so he gives directions with the thought process that we are all on the same team. Since he thinks we are all on the same team he expects a certain level of loyalty and good faith. He has good intentions but that's not how the polity works. That's why everyone has been shouting for the need to be carried along. I'm almost certain there is a group of politicians sponsoring the NDA. But that doesn't change the legitimacy of their beef. There are far too many coincidences to not notice but I see this new round of militancy as something that could have been avoided but greed, evil, lack of opportunity, politics of hate and fear of prison have combined to bring us to where we find ourselves. |
Kgdavid:Read my follow up posts. I'm not blaming the boys in the creeks for their disposition. They've been wronged. Check this article out if you haven't already come across it. The figures are staggering. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/n96-trillion-oil-revenue-nigeria-short-changed-oil-producing-areas/ |
oweniwe:That would be a giant stride towards resolution. There is too much blame to go around. All who benefit from the oil should be making attempts to develop to host communities. It's the only correct course of action. |
onatisi:I won't say it's been a failure. But I will say it's been a let down. I won't predict the future because I'm no soothsayer. But I have reason to believe life will get better for Nigeria. DonCortino:Re-read my post. Don't argue just to argue. Then read my other posts in this thread. You'll see I mean well. |
Pavore9:I pray this is the regime that can finally do right by the people of the Niger Delta to end militancy forever. |
oweniwe:You've missed my point because you want to argue. Militancy and aggression from the armed forces is futile. Physical confrontation is only a lasting resolution if genocide is the goal. Any survivors will have animosity. What needs to occur is legit development and honest negotiations. I'm not talking about Dasukigate. Im talking about the Niger Delta that feeds the national coffers and yet suffers. I'm talking about the people who have crude in their streams but no PMS at their pumps. If they even have gas stations. A people who have been pushed to the wall will behave in ways that the next man could never fathom. I'm praying for peace because they are not playing any games in the creeks. People come online and spout off jokes as if these guys haven't already dented our yearly revenue. It can get downright tragic if they so choose. Diplomacy is the best way forward for all. Gov't must set pride aside and make it right. All the tough talk is useless. |
This is a wonderful way to start the week. Let's pray things get better. The Delta has suffered for far too long. It shall be well. |
ba7man:I pray we can get past this era of militancy and embezzlement. There must be an honest and noble resolution once and for all. Amnesty won't solve the problems of the Delta. Environmental restoration and infrastructural development must commence in full swing. Unfortunately, due to the pipeline bombings many of the very initiatives I just stated may not have the needed funding. We are in quite a messy situation in our country. KINGwax007:I just hate that the gov't doesn't respond to peaceful complaints. It's only when it reaches code red they want to "negotiate." It should never get this bad and that's not me solely blaming Buhari. He's inherited a ticking time bomb. Everything blew up on his watch but he asked for the job. Poo rolls down but blame goes up. He's gotta get a firm handle on the wheel and turn this ship around. |
Nice to see this nearing completion. I forgot all about it after reading up on it. http://venturesafrica.com/meet-the-nigerian-american-who-is-building-the-largest-medical-research-hub-in-africa/ https://www.nairaland.com/3133557/15-storey-world-class-medical Good things are going on! |
Militants blow up pipelines and now Money that could go towards development goes towards security. Militants get angry at the lack of development and start blowing things up. See the endless cycle? |
Nice to see the gov't working. The allocation is being utilized. BRF IS FIRED UP! |
How did he arrive at 390? Such a peculiar number. Is it based off his currency's exchange rate? |
He always reminds me of black Santa with his snow beard. Shout out to Innoson. He's always doing it major major. Still waiting for him to release the new suv that looks like a gwagon |
More grease. My brother is out here doing it major! |
Aint nothing like a black woman. Especially a NATURAL BLACK WOMAN! |
Between oil prices crashing and renewed militancy he's trying. He hasn't been perfect but our countrymen haven't helped the cause. He's delivered for the most part. The country's finances are in the dumps but that's being rectified and corruption is being fought to a minimum. I just want some funds released so that capital projects can get rolling and money can get circulating. Buhari is at a C rating. He has some serious room for improvement but I don't doubt his effort and good intentions. |
princemillla:You tell no lies. Barring the return of the militants in the creeks I think he would have really been smashing full steam already. I have faith things will get better. |
princemillla:I was worried too. All is well. |
Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun on Friday said the government will allocate 60 billion naira ($180 million) more spending on capital projects. The funds will form part of the 2016 budget and addition to earlier releases. Nigeria has been struggling to boost its economy by diversifying away from crude oil revenue. Africa’s largest economy is in the middle of its worst financial crisis for decades as a slump in oil revenues hammers public finances and the naira. The central bank governor has said recession is likely. Buhari on Thursday said the country needed to balance monetary and fiscal policies in order to return to growth. Government capital spending so far has exceeded 400 billion naira this year, Adeosun said, despite the record budget being held up for months by wrangling between President Muhammadu Buhari and parliament. Last month, Adeosun said the country will commence international borrowing in the third quarter of the year. The government has said it plans to borrow up to $10 billion, with about half of that coming from foreign sources, to help make up a budget shortfall exacerbated by a slump in oil prices. Nigeria had initially planned to hold Eurobonds road shows in March but postponed sales as investors complained about the overvalued naira, according to bankers. Nigeria’s government has said it wants to change the balance of its debt portfolio so that 40 percent of its borrowing comes from abroad, compared with 16 percent now. It also wants to extend the average maturity of its debt profile. Adeosun met international investors in June on a non-deal roadshow in London as Africa’s biggest economy explores fund-raising options to finance a record budget deficit. The Finance minister said apart from infrastructure investments, the government was reviewing its tax policies to improve collection and widen the net, make its import tariffs more competitive and cut costs to boost the economy. Nigeria generated 200 billion naira from independent sources this year, which includes revenues from government departments that would have otherwise not been captured in the budget. The West African nation will tap partnerships with the private sector to boost investment. Adeosun said the government was in discussion with General Electric to develop and operate rail services to improve transport for goods across the country. http://www.tv360nigeria.com/nigeria-approve-180m-capital-spending-adeosun/

Seriously what were they doing for the past few years? Everything is jammed up! |
Ogoni cleanup, rehab of cattle routes, 2nd Niger bridge seems like they are attempting to appease all the zones. Let's watch and see. |
Yorubanews:Ipod? Once again you sling insults like a fool. Your attempts to besmirch the acronym of an association is sophomoric at best. It's IPOB. I'm 100% Igbo but no I'm not in the movement for disintegrating this country. You make Yoruba people look bad. My friends from the West would laugh at you and shower you with insults for disgracing the rich name and heritage. Lily livered are we in person to have a fight? Yes I will report you to the mods. That's why they are here. If you don't want to play by the same rules that everyone else abides by you can enjoy another forum. |
DaniDani:I hate the superiority complex. My cousins always talk down on other states. I'm still trying to understand how that can make any sense. The state lines aren't real. If we get new states and Anambra is further split would we then begin to look down on the new states? Some people are idiots and don't know it. Don't let the few morons speak for us all. Igbo bu Igbo. |
I keep reading about the clamoring for true federalism. Can someone explain to me how long it would take to implement and the direct correlation it would have to development. Not trying to start a quarrel I'd just appreciate more information on a topic that seems to be constantly rocking the polity. Thanks in advance. |
Yorubanews:You're such a clown and don't know it. I'm not sure how you haven't been banned but now I'll see to it you are. Maybe someday you'll stop being a scumbag. Until that day enjoy wallowing in your stupidity. |
Biko find them all! Yams must be returned! |
Yorubanews:Osus? Really? Stay impoverished in the mind. You're in sad sad shape. |
Yorubanews:Really? As a blackman you can type these things about your fellow black people? You shame us. You gotta wise up and do better. We are one. |

'Preciate the concern but I'm cool. Thanks once again. Good day mi amigo. |
This is utter madness. Killing just for the sake of killing? No warning? No quarrel? No wrongdoing? Just spilling blood? We gotta end this NOW! |
rusher14:You wanna know what's really boggling? The very people who are now penniless are cheering their robbers just to spite their would be benefactors. Gotta love Naija. ![]() |
They won't help hm. This is an exercise in futility. He's a man on island. |
