If he does not stand with his boss then with who again? He needs it. With the kind of high profile arrests Magu has overseen, if Buhari leaves power, he may suffer the fate of Ribadu under PDP PS. I gather that the anti-corruption solidarity group actually marched to EFCC's office and Magu came out to greet them. OP, you have no case. |
TonyeBarcanista:Isn't there something you are missing? Only you and Secondus see the wisdom in appointing Sheriff. FFK, Okupe, GEJ party loyalists, most PDP loving Nigerians see the tomfoolery in the choice of Sheriff. My advice- recant your ineffectual write-up supporting Sheriff. |
4th Republic. Rigging. Third-Term. Yaradu'a. Sickness. GEJ. Ineffectual. Let me not expose Baba Iyabo here. |
ENEONWO:PDP exposed SAS as a BH sponsor. We are just reminding Nigerians of this before they brainwash us to think otherwise. Abeg take care. |
With SAS, it is one accusation too many. No smoke without fire. |
airsaylongcon:Same way IBB is believed to be responsible for the death of Dele Giwa, serving military chiefs plane crash and the embezzlement of $12Billion oil windfall, or Abacha responsible for Kudirat Abiola's death or OBJ responsible for third term clamour. Good luck with your search for concrete evidence |
This is how the disintegration of PDP enters an advanced stage. It long started with the formation nPDP due to lack of internal democracy. |
https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Ali-Modu-Sheriff.jpg Former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff Some ministers, who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, have threatened to leave the Peoples Democratic Party if Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff is not removed as the national chairman of the party. They said “imposing” the former governor of Borno State on the party by some of its influential members was meant to portray the party as unserious. They added that the plan to reposition the former ruling party ahead of the 2019 general elections had failed with Sheriff’s emergence. Spokesperson for the former ministers and a former Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman, said this in an interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday. Sheriff was selected by the members of the party’s National Executive Committee at their meeting, which was held in Abuja on Tuesday. His selection has attracted divergent views from members of the party, including its many organs. For example, the Board of Trustees of the party and its Senate Caucus have kicked against Sheriff’s choice. In his reaction, Suleiman said it was obvious that the plan to rescue the party had failed. He said, “Our rescue mission has failed; the redemption boat has capsized and our journey to recovery has come to an end. “Whosoever partook in the decision does not mean well for the party and democracy in Nigeria. “It is obvious that the fifth columnist has hijacked the party and they are hell-bent on sinking it deeper into irrecoverable level of the pit. The ex-minister added, “Some of us would rather review our membership than subject ourselves to selfish interests of some cabal whose main goal is political profiteering. After all, our umbilical cord is not tied to any party.” Asked if his group was planning to move to either the All Progressives Congress or form another political party, Suleiman said the decision would be taken soon. “Some people will go to the APC while some will form their own political party if they so desire. “Sheriff’s emergence is a setback for the party trying to build its image. Credible members and younger ones are going to leave the party. “If his emergence is not reversed in the next one week, there could be massive exodus from the party.” Suleiman said though the former governor had not been identified with Boko Haram, he argued that the perception of many people about him on the Boko Haram issue ought to have been considered. He said, “For several times, he has been identified with the issue of Boko Haram, though he has yet to be indicted. But perception matters a lot. We can’t be defending that toga now. We don’t have such time. “Remember also that he has problem with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Such a man shouldn’t be asked to lead a party that is trying to regain power.” With the former governor’s emergence, he said the general notion that the party consisted of only people, who had no interest of the country at heart, would be reinforced. The PUNCH, however, gathered that one of the reasons the former governor emerged as the party chairman was the argument that he was going to negotiate with some disgruntled elements in the APC. One of the governors of the PDP said Sheriff had promised that he would negotiate withand bring back to the PDP his colleagues who were not happy with the way they were currently being treated in the ruling party. He was said to have listed the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, as one of the key chieftains of the APC who were described as the angry elements within the ruling party. He said, “We know that there are many members of the APC who are not happy like Saraki and others. You could see what is happening in the Senate. “Our chairman has told us he would speak with them, bring them to the PDP and from there, we would know how to take back power come 2019.” The PDP has, however, asked Nigerians not to label its chairman as a Boko Haram sponsor. Its National Auditor, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju, who stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, challenged anybody with concrete proof on Sheriff’s culpability to speak out or shut up. Adeyanju said the allegation against the party’s new national chairman was being raised by those he described as faceless people and part of the plot to discredit the PDP before Nigerians and the international community. He said, “We are very much aware that some elements are jittery over the PDP’s decision to pick him as its new chairman and the only way out for them is to label him as a Boko Haram sponsor. “They cannot succeed in their new plot because the government would have arrested and charged him to court as done to a serving Senator in the National Assembly during the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. That trial (of a serving senator) is still in progress.” Adeyanju wondered why Sheriff was not called a member or sponsor of Boko Haram when he was a member of the APC. http://www.punchng.com/sheriff-jonathans-loyalists-threaten-to-dump-pdp/ |
Wailers will condemn this news in no time. Boko Haram, ND Militants IPODs Take note. |
Iroh88:I hope Lalasticlala sees the point. Nigerians' consciousness has been weakened by this halo that surrounds public figures once they get recognised in one way or the other. The gravity of the accusations is enough to ruin any political party's chances in saner countries. Here, people are writing articles to hail such appointments. |
Proudlyngwa:I couldn't believe that Tonyebarcanista and others would come on a public forum like this and attempt to whitewash SAS without any evidence or counter evidence. Let us even hazard that SAS has never met Boko Haram. It is a massive PR goof for PDP to select a man of with such baggage as its Chairman in a time when it is in dire need of reforms. cc: Modath, Fastshipping, Ngeneukwenu, Arresa, 0079jaBond, modath, danzelle, onims44, ColeworldMD, Objectives, Gbemmyxal, spinoff, Sharmeenator, Johnpaul88, MuhdG, blacksta, arewafederation, L0nestar, coolhamid, damola1, ibknaanii, jjpp1, master2, Bosville, kestolove95, Missy89, amuniiopz, patrickmuf, thaoriginator, goalburner, sureguy02, tejpot, jukaizer, cigie, Easy5265, CaptainAmerica1, leo083, hahn, danjumakolo, XYZ123, yyb14, yomalex, Lalasticlala, munex007, 1LRNZH, DaBullIT, trillville, iseyinoro, decode55, sharkhead, priestken1, Trafficjam11, PassingShot, Caseless, TemiTemi, FireFire |
This is a response to a recent topic on NL FP exhorting the virtues of Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff (SAS), absolving him of Boko Haram connections and praising his choice as the new PDP Chairman. Ali Modu Sheriif has been a controversial figure in the NE particularly and in the Nigerian polity in general. Most of these are linked to various allegations of his Boko Haram connections from different sources at different times. Below is a short synopsis of various evidences used to back-up allegations of SAS's Boko Haram connections: https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/PIC.4.-PRESIDENT-JONATHAN-ARRIVES-IN-NDJAMENA.jpg 1. Mr. Sheriff’s alleged link with Boko Haram dates back to his days as governor of Borno between 2003 and 2011.2. Goodluck Jonathan, in April 2003, called SAS a friend of Mohammed Yusuf, founder of Boko Haram. As commander-in-chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Jonathan regularly has access to a multiplicity of security reports, and many believed he spoke from a position of knowledge at the time. See video evidence and transcript below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBfdhzYaABA GEJ: … Bunkers in Maiduguri or Borno state. Why should the bunkers come? Who wants to send bunkers to Borno state. There are too many APCs (armoured personnel carriers). Why should there be APCs in Borno state? Who wants to send APcs to Borno state? We are talking about soldiers. There are some people even saying JTF should go. Who wants to spend money paying allowances of soldiers for God-sake. We need money for development. If the circumstances that brought the soldiers are no longer there, that day, they will all leave. [Audience clap clap clap] They were not in Borno state in 2001, 2002, 2003, up to 2009. Probably that is when ehnn this man was killed, and that was the beginning of crises. Ehn ehn, what is the name of ehn ehn governor Sheriff’s friend? [Audience clapped, laughed and echoed Yusuf]. When Yusuf was killed, that was the beginning of the crisis… 3. In 2003, Australian negotiator with Boko Haram, Dr. Stephen Davies named SAS as one of the Boko Haram sponsors in 2014.4. A leaked security intelligence dispatch obtained by Premium Times also suggested Mr. Sheriff has link with the Boko Haram sect. The memo claimed Mr. Sheriff personally oversaw the training and deployment of fighters from the Abeche region in Chad. In Abeche, Mr. Sheriff operated from the lodge of the Chadian President, Idris Deby, the memo claimed. After joining the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in July 2014, Mr. Sheriff became a close ally of President Jonathan, and top leaders of the ruling party thereby enjoings state protection. After the Australian negotiator, working with the Nigerian government, Stephen Davis, also claimed that the sect’s top members told him Mr. Sheriff was a key sponsor of their activities, on December 16, the SSS exonerated Mr. Sheriff after it paraded six men – including a former special assistant to current Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima. The SSS claimed the suspects admitted fabricating the scenarios the Australian negotiator relied on to make his claims. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/174000-video-shows-president-jonathan-linking-ex-borno-governor-ali-modu-sheriff-boko-haram.html 5. Senators Zanna and Sheriff have traded bitter exchanges over Boko Haram connections:These are just tips of the iceberg. This article is to keep in focus reasons for the outrage following SAS' announcement as the new PDP Chairman before the narrative is lost due to politicking. When a lie is told consistently, it starts becoming the truth. I reckon there are more documented pieces of evidence but these should make for a good discussion. Please add more if you have come across such. Thank You and God Bless. |
modath:Even FFK had to lament openly yesterday. PDP has goofed big time for a few dollars from Sheriff. https://www.thelivefeeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/index64.png |
Firefire:Thank you. PDP is the jester's court. |
TonyeBarcanista:But you are addressing the wrong issue (or a non-issue). Founding Boko Haram is not the allegation. Sponsoring Boko Haram is the allegation. With all due respect, your write-up is irrelevant to addressing, proving or disproving any allegation. It only serves to share your opinion (approval) on SAS selection as PDP Chairman and you are entitled to hold any opinion. For the sake or prosperity, the allegation runs thus: A group known as Borno Patriots was set up to campaign for Sheriff's arrest. The campaign against Sheriff intensified after he took part in negotiations to release an arms-filled Russian cargo plane in Kano. Allegations that Sheriff had connections with Boko Haram surfaced in 2003, when, according to reports, he courted the terror group during his campaign for the post of governor of Borno State. Sheriff allegedly courted Boko Haram for the mass appeal that they had in Borno and Yobe states, and for the militant, strong-arm tactics that the Islamists had to offer him to defend his influence. Boko Haram in return received resources to buy weapons and were promised that a strict sharia law would be enforced in the state. Sheriff eventually implemented sharia in Borno state after he came to power in 2003. But Boko Haram felt that it didn't go far enough. http://www.theafricareport.com/West-Africa/nigeria-group-wants-ex-governor-arrested-over-boko-haram-links.html So Boko haram existed before SAS approached them. Also, between Zanna and SAS lies the secret of Boko Haram sponsorship. Senator Ahmad Zanna, representing Borno Central, has said a Boko Haram commander, Shuaibu Bama, was arrested in the house of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff and not in his (Senator Zanna) house, contrary to the claim by the Joint Task Force, JTF. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/10/high-profile-boko-haram-member-arrested-in-ali-modu-sheriffs-house-zanna/ Please show us evidence of SAS being ANPP national BOT Chairman. Also, is PDP modeling itself after the defunct ANPP? I SMH. Like I stated NE "strongman" is due to monetary purposes. In Borno state, SAS is a persona non-grata with the masses: SAS has been stoned severally in Maiduguri: http://www.osundefender.org/youths-stoned-modu-sheriffs-car-as-hundreds-of-soldiers-lead-him-into-maiduguri/ QED. |
TonyeBarcanista:[b]You miss my point. 1. Your whole article was based on the supposed allegations that SAS (Sen. Ali Modu-Sheriff) is one of Boko Haram's founders which you could easily disprove with your write up. That amounts to changing the narrative to an easier one to defend. The real allegation is that of SAS sponsorship of Boko Haram. I challenge you to put up a convincing post defending why SAS is not a Boko Haram sponsor which is the real allegation on ground. 2. The allegations of sponsoring Boko Haram by SAS is not a new one. It is common folklore in the NE for the past 4 years (a region which you OP probably have never been to), up to the point where the Australian negotiator with Boko Haram, Dr. Stephen Davies named SAS as one of the Boko Haram sponsors in 2014. Dr. Davies is yet to be disproved. https://www.naij.com/283220-australian-negotiator-insists-modu-sheriff-ihejirika-boko-haram-sponsors.html One thing for sure is there is no smoke without fire. If PDP is a party that has a sense of credibility or integrity, they would not name a man with such a hefty baggage as part Chairman, interim or not. My suspicion is that SAS has brought a large booty of funds to a party that is currently broke from not having access to government funds under PMB and a hawk-eyed EFCC. For PDP this is a means to survival. But I am not surprised because PDP as a party has no soul that we can't even accuse it of selling out.[/b] |
Why is this one always sold to the dogs? The point is that SAS (Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff) is termed a Boko Haram sponsor, not founder. That you people will come and change the narrative for politicking purposes will put the blood of the victims from the insurgency on your collective hands. OP, beware of what you defend! Even FFK would not subscribe to this. https://www.thelivefeeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/index64.png PS: Here is a response to this post: https://www.nairaland.com/2940589/ali-modu-sheriff-boko-haram-connection |

TippyTop:Was it not under Ihejerika that Nigerian soldiers retreated into Cameroun from Boko Haram and were disarmed by the Cameroonian forces? Now the two armies are cooperating and you don't know the difference abi? The joke is on you.
