jamesibor:See what Bismark Rewane had to say about Kemi as finance commissioner Bismarck Rewane, head of Financial Derivatives Co., a consultancy in Lagos, described Adeosun’s appointment as an “excellent choice,” saying she had turned around the financial position of Ogun state when she served as finance commissioner. “Ogun state was in shambles, she put the state finances in strong position,” he said by phone. “She did a remarkable thing taking the state revenue from a negative position to a positive level.” http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-11-11/nigeria-s-buhari-appoints-kemi-adeosun-as-finance-minister I am sure more facts of her stewardship in Ogun State will emerge as we discuss. |
DickDastardly: GEJ is our chief zoologist mind you. ![]() |
Baba's diplomacy no get part 2. Nigeria has been the most active advocate saving oil prices. When oil prices start regaining, I hope countries like Venezuela, Iran, Russia, Iraq and Saudi Arabia will give Baba and Kachikwu the credit they deserve. Wailers and Ipods, give credit for once in your life. |
Ngozi? Scam. |
Dickbastardly.... In fact the moniker is an aberration. And he wants to fight Buhari. Wonders will continue.... |
dukie25:How did Ngozi manage FG's 52%? Abi governors stole that one too? Lalasticlala food dey burn o.. |
Is it not Ali Modu-Sheriff that inv.... Shhhh from my lawyer. OK no comments. |
dukie25:It depends on what you mean with that question. Read my earlier posts carefully. I will repeat myself one more time. On the economy, Ngozi is far from a success for me. In times of plenty she did not do the needful in diversifying the economy, saving enough or fighting corruption. Kemi I cannot judge yet because her tenure is in its infancy. But I know for sure that Kemi has a more difficult job with the current state of the economy. If Ngozi could not handle good times satisfactorily how can she handle worse times? Ngozi is a failure. Kemi I do not know yet. State government finances are hardly a good judge of how a finance minister will perform at the national level because states in Nigeria are mostly reliant on monthly allocations. It is more of book keeping. But let's wait for someone that knows better on her state stewardship to enlighten us. This thread is about how they performed facing NASS committees. Kemi wins this one. It was not a press briefing as you stated. |
dukie25:This thread was a simple video comparison. It was you specifically that expanded it to their management of finances and economies. Your question is a solid one and I want to believe someone more informed about her performance there will enlighten us. |
dukie25:If you understand the scientific method, you won't be stating this. We have about 8 years track record of Ngozi as finance minister all under high to very high oil prices. Nigeria failed to diversify it's oil dependent, import based economy under her. That is enough to draw a conclusion that Ngozi cannot manage a economy in surplus times. Kemi inherited one of the worst economies in recent times with tanked oil price and forex drain from fighting insurgency in the North-East. She is yet to even spend 1 year on the job. It is too early to judge her performance especially since her situation is more challenging than Ngozi's. But from the videos above, it is clear that Ngozi's temperament is not fit for a finance minister in difficult times. My two kobos there. |
dukie25:This your statement is a problem for me on many levels. Look at the history of people OBJ has imposed on Nigerians when he is not in power. Shagari, Yar'adua, GEJ.... And you want to bring up Ngozi. They usually have one K-leg or the other from incompetence, illness or lack of integrity. OBJ looks for those he feels he can control because he identifies their weaknesses. If you read OBJ's statement in his book where he brought up Ngozi as VP, he made a comment about her weaknesses that needed a firm leader to manage. VPs are supposed to be leaders that can lead on their own without any management from a firm leader if the need arises. OBJ disqualified Ngozi with that statement. Finally, the same OBJ sacked her as his Finance Minister. |
Without being partisan, If you watched the two videos, and also from the history of Ngozi's public correspondences with Chukwuma Soludo, I will go with Kemi. |
These videos were posted in another thread by Oduastates and shared by Arewafederation. |
swagifted:What is your perspective if I may ask? |
TippyTop:Go talk to people from Benue South Senatorial Zone. The APC candidate Daniel Onjeh did not stand much of a chance. Everyone intimate with the local politics knew this all along. Do not let David Mark's win deceive you. This is an advice. |
babyfaceafrica:Not you. The latter part of the comment was @ Tippytop |
TippyTop:OBJ Quits PDP Nnamani quits PDP Dr. Tafida quits PDP You have the mentality of Okonkwo of 'Things Fall Apart' who failed to recognise his impending downfall until the last hour. |
. |
EdCure:LOL. A G-34 and PDP founding member rebrand with Ali Modu Sheriff in charge? I don't understand how you people think but there are lots of folks out there who still care about their integrity. |
babyfaceafrica:My brother, their illiteracy will affect me by virtue of sharing the same country with them. @ Tippytop, other notable members of the G-34 include Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Malam Adamu Ciroma, Chief Bola Ige, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dr. Tunji Otegbeye, Senator Onyeka Okoroafor, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, Chief Silas Daniyan, Chief Solomon Lar, Alhaji Lawal Kaita to mention a few. Maybe you were still a political novice in the late 90s hence you don't recognise their relevance. |
TippyTop:Dr. Alex Ekwueme was part of that group and he got nothing after the formation of PDP. These were very courageous men. |
TippyTop:A PDP founding Father. A member of the G-34. Do some research on these group of men. Even Abacha could not intimidate them when they met in Ekwueme's house in Ikoyi, Lagos, and courageously signed their names on a letter addressed to Sani Abacha, urging him for the sake of Nigeria to abandon his plans of becoming a life president. |
https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/Dalhatu-Sarki-Tafida_0.jpg?itok=gQr2JHeB Dalhatu Sarki Tafida The immediate past Nigeria's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and founding member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Dalhatu Sarki Tafida today dumped the party. Tafida, who headed victorious former President Goodluck Jonathan's presidential campaign in 2011, said, PDP market in Nigeria's politics is over, and no sensible man will remain in a market that has closed shop. Speaking in a special BBC Hausa interview monitored in Lagos, Tafida, who is from Kaduna state said there is no more respect for the party. "I have decided to leave PDP, and I will not join another party. I left because there is no focus, if a market is over, a responsible man should go home. Now the market is over. It was good in the past, but now it is the worst, with impunity and confusion. "The party has been destroyed and reduced to nothing, and I have decided to dump the party. I don't think our stay in the party is wise, because the people now abuse everyone, and no one will even listen to you." He also condemned the way and manner, the party is being run by party leaders hurling series of insults daily and refusing counsel by party elders. He concluded that he is not joining any political party but will continue to offer his services for national development. http://saharareporters.com/2016/02/20/ex-nigerian-ambassador-uk-tafida-quits-pdp cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
MAROC: baby124: Saifullah01:My thoughts as well. These foreigners are looking for where they can make quick cash and get out. While we appreciate their business, we should not sit and watch them rape our economy. |
andy24:You are welcome. |
PMB is saying the right things. This is the way to go only and a big only if the FG can implement the changes that will boost exports. Imagine, every time I go abroad I see packaged palm oil from Malaysia and Ghana but not from Nigeria. The list is endless. God Bless Us All. |
tiwiex:The MAN Chairman Udemba said that some of the 41 items in the list were essential raw materials for many manufacturers across key sectors, and could not be presently sourced locally. That is 41 out of 680 prohibited items. I wondered how we can tell which of the 680 items are on the list of 41 items without him listing the items. I hope this is clearer now. |
Lito18:I wish it was easy to do that and still get the message across. I'd like to see a demonstration from you or someone else. Thanks for the feedback though. |
gentle007:Vocal in MBGN or what? |
