IslamDesist From Engaging In Thuggery, Sultan Advises Youths. by Lukgaf(op): 12:56pm On Jun 14, 2018
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Wednesday urged Nigerian youths to refrain from involving themselves in thuggery. The monarch made the plea at the closing of this year’s preaching session at the Haliru Jummat Mosque, Kofar Kware area of Sokoto metropolis. He advised them to desist from being used by selfish politicians to cause breach of the peace in the polity.

“Youths should be vigilant and not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous politicians to achieve their selfish interests,” he said.

According to him, they should rather take advantage of the skill acquisition programmes introduced by governments at all levels to become self reliant. The monarch admonished Islamic preachers in the country to always speak the truth to political leaders without any fear in order to move the country forward.

He said this would no doubt assist them greatly in steering the affairs of the country.

The Sultan to this end, enjoined Muslims to remain committed towards the development of Islam.

He also admonished them to put into practice what they have learnt during the Ramadan fast.

He therefore called on wealthy individuals to always endeavour to assist the needy so as to ensure peace and understanding in the society.

The Virtue Of Fasting Six Days Of Shawwaal After Ramadan

Lukgaf:
While I appreciate our efforts toward fasting all the days of Ramadan, it is important I remind you of the huge reward associated with fasting additional Six fasting in Shawwal after Ramadan. May Allah make it easy for us
Praise be to Allaah.

Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the obligatory fast of Ramadaan is Sunnah Mustahabbah, not waajib. It is recommended for the Muslim to fast six days of Shawwaal, and in this there is great virtue and an immense reward. Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year, as was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Abu Ayyoob (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime.” (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained this when he said: “Whoever fasts for six days after (Eid) al-Fitr has completed the year: (whoever does a good deed (hasanah) will have ten hasanah like it).” According to another report: “Allaah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year.” (al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah. See also Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/421). It was also narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah with the wording: “Fasting for the month of Ramadaan brings the reward of ten like it, and fasting for six days brings the reward of two months, and that is the fasting of the whole year.”

The Hanbali and Shaafa’i fuqaha’ explained that fasting six days of Shawwaal after fasting Ramadaan makes it as if one has fasted for an entire year of obligatory fasts, because the multiplication of the reward applies even to naafil fasts, because each hasanah brings the reward of ten like it.

Another of the important benefits of fasting six days of Shawwaal is that is makes up for any shortfall in a person's obligatory Ramadaan fasts, because no one is free of shortcomings or sins that have a negative effect on his fasting. On the Day of Resurrection, some of his naafil deeds will be taken to make up the shortcomings in his obligatory deeds, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The first thing for which people will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be their salaah (prayer). Our Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, will say to His angels – although He knows best – ‘Look at the salaah of My slave, whether it is complete or incomplete.’ If it is perfect, it will be recorded as perfect, and if something is lacking, He will say, ‘Look and see whether My slave did any voluntary (naafil) prayers.’ If he did some voluntary prayers, [Allaah] will say, Complete the obligatory actions of My slave from his voluntary actions.’ Then all his actions will be dealt with in a similar manner.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood).

And Allaah knows best.

Regarding The Case When The Day Of Eid Falls On Friday

IslamRe: Regarding The Case When The Day Of Eid Falls On Friday by Lukgaf(op): 7:41pm On Jun 13, 2018
Lukgaf:
As Sultan of Sokoto implore Muslims to look for mean Thursday, 14th of June 2018, then if sighted, Friday will be the first of Shawwal, the day of Eid-l-Fitr(https://www.nairaland.com/4559151/eid-el-fitr-2018-sultan-urges-muslims).

Meanwhile, the scholars of Islam have said a lot regarding when any of the Eids fall on Friday. So, this post is aim at collating ruling regarding if Eid fall on Friday and what we should do if such happens?
Praise be to Allah.
Concerning this issue, there are a number of marfoo‘ hadiths and mawqoof reports, including the following:

1.

The hadith of Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which Mu‘aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan (may Allah have mercy on him) asked him: Did you ever witness with the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) two Eids that happened on the same day? He said: Yes. He said: What did he do? He said: He offered the Eid prayer, then he granted a concession allowing people to miss Jumu‘ah prayer, and he said: “Whoever wishes to pray (Jumu‘ah), let him do so.”

Narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawood, an-Nasaa’i, Ibn Maajah, ad-Daarimi, and by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak, where he said: This hadith has saheeh isnaads, even though they [al-Bukhaari and Muslim] did not narrate it, and it has a corroborating report according to the conditions of Muslim. And adh-Dhahabi agreed with him. An-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo‘: Its isnaad is jayyid.

2.

The corroborating evidence mentioned above is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Two Eids have come together on this day of yours, so whoever wishes, it [the Eid prayer] will suffice for Jumu‘ah, but we will pray Jumu‘ah.”

Narrated by al-Haakim as stated above; also narrated by Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah, Ibn al-Jaarood, al-Bayhaqi and others.

3.

The hadith of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Two Eids came together at the time of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He led the people in (the Eid) prayer, then he said: “Whoever wishes to come to Jumu‘ah may come and whoever wishes not to do so may stay away.” Narrated by Ibn Maajah. It was also narrated by at-Tabaraani in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabeer as follows: Two Eids came together at the time of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): Eid al-Fitr and Jumu‘ah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) led them in the Eid prayer, then he turned to face them and said: O people, you have attained goodness and reward, but we are going to pray Jumu‘ah; whoever wishes to pray Jumu‘ah may do so, and whoever wishes to go back, may go back.”

4.

The hadith of Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Two Eids have come together on this day of yours, so whoever wishes, it [the Eid prayer] will suffice for Jumu‘ah, but we will pray Jumu‘ah in sha Allah.”

Narrated by Ibn Maajah. Al-Buwaysiri said: Its isnaad is saheeh and its men are thiqaat (trustworthy)

5.

The mursal report of Dhakwaan ibn Saalih says: Two Eids came together at the time of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): Jumu‘ah and Eid. He led them in (the Eid prayer), then he stood up to address the people and said: “You have remembered Allah and attained goodness. But we will pray Jumu‘ah, so whoever wants to stay – in his house – may do so, and whoever wants to pray Jumu‘ah may do so.”

Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in as-Sunan al-Kubra.

6.

It was narrated that ‘Ata’ ibn Abi Rabaah said: Ibn az-Zubayr led us in prayer on the day of Eid, on a Friday, at the beginning of the day, then we went to pray Jumu‘ah and he did not come out to us, so we prayed by ourselves. Ibn ‘Abbaas was in at-Taa’if and when we came we told him about that, and he said: He acted in accordance with the Sunnah.

Narrated by Abu Dawood. A different version was narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah, in which he added at the end: And Ibn az-Zubayr said: I saw ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab do something like this when two Eids happened on the same day.

7.

In the Saheeh of al-Bukhaari (may Allah have mercy on him) and the Muwatta’ of Maalik (may Allah have mercy on him) it is narrated that Abu ‘Ubayd, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, said: I was present on the occasion of two Eids (together) with ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan; that was on a Friday. He offered the (Eid) prayer before the khutbah, then delivered the khutbah and said: O people, on this day two Eids have come to you together, so whoever wants to wait for Jumu‘ah with the people of al-‘Awaali, let him do so, and whoever wants to go back, then I gave him permission to do so.

8.

It was narrated that ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allah have mercy on him) said, when two Eids came together on one day: Whoever wants to pray Jumu‘ah, let him do so, and whoever wants to stay, let him do so.” Sufyaan said: i.e., let him stay in his house.

Narrated by ‘Abd ar-Razzaaq in al-Musannaf; a similar report was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah.

Based on these hadiths that have isnaads going back to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and these mawqoof reports from a number of the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them), and what has been affirmed by the majority of scholars, the Committee has issued the following rulings:

1.

Whoever attends the Eid prayer has a concession allowing him not to attend Jumu‘ah prayer, so he may pray it as Zuhr at the time of Zuhr. But if he decides to pray Jumu‘ah with the people, that is preferable.

2.

Whoever has not attended the Eid prayer is not included in that concession, therefore the obligation to attend Jumu‘ah is not waived in his case. Therefore he must go to the mosque in order to pray Jumu‘ah. If there are insufficient numbers to perform Jumu‘ah prayer, then he should pray it as Zuhr.

3.

The imam of the Jumu‘ah mosque must hold Jumu‘ah prayers on that day so that those who wish to attend, and those who did not attend the Eid prayer, may attend Jumu‘ah. If sufficient numbers of people attend for Jumu‘ah prayer, then Jumu‘ah prayer must be offered, otherwise it should be offered as Zuhr.

4.

Whoever attends the Eid prayer and has a concession allowing him not to attend Jumu‘ah must pray it as Zuhr after the time for Zuhr begins.

5.

At this time it is not prescribed to give the adhaan except in the mosques where Jumu‘ah prayers will be held. It is not prescribed to give the adhaan for Zuhr on that day.

6.

The view that whoever attends the Eid prayer has a concession waiving both Jumu‘ah and Zuhr prayer on that day is an incorrect view. Therefore it is rejected by the scholars and they have deemed it to be mistaken and odd, because it is contrary to the Sunnah and suggests that one of the obligatory duties enjoined by Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, is to be waived with no evidence to that effect. Perhaps the Sunnahs and reports about this issue – which grant a concession allowing the one who attended the Eid prayer not to attend Jumu‘ah, but state that he must still pray Zuhr – did not reach the one who said that.

And Allah, may He be exalted, knows best. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and companions.

IslamRamadan 1439AH: Etiquettes Of Eid by Lukgaf(op): 7:23pm On Jun 13, 2018
Praise be to Allaah.
The Sunnahs that the Muslim should observe on the day of Eid are as follows:

1 – Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer.

It was narrated in a saheeh hadeeth in al-Muwatta’ and elsewhere that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to do ghusl on the day of al-Fitr before going out to the prayer-place in the morning. Al-Muwatta’ 428.

Al- Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said that the Muslims were unanimously agreed that it is mustahabb to do ghusl for Eid prayer.

The reason why it is mustahabb is the same reason as that for doing ghusl before Jumu’ah and other public gatherings. Rather on Eid the reason is even stronger.

2 – Eating before going out to pray on Eid al-Fitr and after the prayer on Eid al-Adha:

Part of the etiquette is not to go out to pray on Eid al-Fitr until one has eaten some dates, because of the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari from Anas ibn Maalik, who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used not to go out on the morning of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates… of which he would eat an odd number. Al-Bukhaari, 953.

It is mustahabb to eat before going out to emphasize the fact that it is forbidden to fast on that day and to demonstrate that the fast has ended.

Ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) suggested that the reason for that was so as to ward off the possibility of adding to the fast, and to hasten to obey the command of Allaah. Al-Fath, 2/446

Whoever does not have any dates may break his fast with anything that is permissible.

But on Eid al-Adha it is mustahabb not to eat anything until one comes back from the prayer, so he should eat from the udhiyah if he has offered a sacrifice. If he is not going to offer a sacrifice there is nothing wrong with eating before the prayer.

3 – Takbeer on the day of Eid

This is one of the greatest Sunnahs on the day of Eid because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“(He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allaah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

It was narrated that al-Waleed ibn Muslim said: I asked al-Awzaa’i and Maalik ibn Anas about saying Takbeer out loud on the two Eids. They said, Yes, ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to say it out loud on the day of al-Fitr until the imam came out (to lead the prayers).

It was narrated in a saheeh report that ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Sulami said, “They emphasized it more on the day of al-Fitr than the day of al-Adha.”. Wakee’ said, this refers to the takbeer. See Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 3/122/

Al-Daaraqutni and others narrated that on the morning of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Ibn ‘Umar would strive hard in reciting takbeer until he came to the prayer place, then he would recite takbeer until the imam came out.

Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated with a saheeh isnaad that al-Zuhri said: The people used to recite Takbeer on Eid when they came out of their houses until they came to the prayer place, and until the imam came out. When the imam came out they fell silent, and when he said takbeer they said takbeer. See Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 1/121

Saying takbeer when coming out of one's house to the prayer place and until the imam came out was something that was well known among the salaf (early generations). This has been narrated by a number of scholars such as Ibn Abi Shaybah, ‘Abd a l-Razzaaq and al-Firyaabi in Ahkaam al-Eidayn from a group of the salaf. For example, Naafi’ ibn Jubayr used to recite takbeer and was astonished that the people did not do so, and he said, “Why do you not recite takbeer?”

Ibn Shihaab al-Zuhri (may Allaah have mercy on him) used to say, “The people used to recite takbeer from the time they came out of their houses until the imam came in.”

The time for takbeer on Eid al-Fitr starts from the night before Eid until the imam enters to lead the Eid prayer.

In the case of Eid al-Adha, the takbeer begins on the first day of Dhu’l-Hijjah and lasts until sunset on the last of the days of tashreeq.

Description of the takbeer:

It was narrated in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah with a saheeh isnaad from Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he used to recite takbeer during the days of tashreeq:

Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, Allaah akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most great, Allaah is most great, and to Allaah be praise).

It was also narrated elsewhere by Ibn Abi Shaybah with the same isnaad, but with the phrase “Allaahu akbar” repeated three times.

Al-Mahaamili narrated with a saheeh isnaad also from Ibn Mas’ood: “Allaahu akbaru kabeera, Allaahu akbaru kabeera, Allaahu akbar wa ajallu, Allaahu akbar wa Lillaah il-hamd (Allaah is Most Great indeed, Allaah is Most Great indeed, Allaah is most Great and Glorified, Allaah is Most Great and to Allaah be praise).” See al-Irwa’, 3/126.

4 – Offering congratulations

The etiquette of Eid also includes the congratulations and good wishes exchanged by people, no matter what the wording, such as saying to one another Taqabbala Allaah minna wa minkum (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you” or “Eid mubaarak” and other permissible expressions of congratulations.

It was narrated that Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another, “May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you.” Ibn Hajar said, its isnaad is hasan. Al-Fath, 2/446.

Offering congratulations was something that was well known among the Sahaabah, and scholars such as Imam Ahmad and others allowed it. There is evidence which suggests that it is prescribed to offer congratulations and good wishes on special occasions, and that the Sahaabah congratulated one another when good things happened, such as when Allaah accepted the repentance of a man, they went and congratulated him for that, and so on.

Undoubtedly these congratulations are among the noble characteristics among the Muslims.

The least that may be said concerning the subject of congratulations is that you should return the greetings of those who congratulate you on Eid, and keep quiet if others keep quiet, as Imam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: If anyone congratulates you, then respond, otherwise do not initiate it.

5 – Adorning oneself on the occasion of Eid.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said that ‘Umar took a brocade cloak that was for sale in the market and brought it to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, buy this and adorn yourself with it for Eid and for receiving the delegations.” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him, “Rather this is the dress of one who has no share (of piety or of reward in the Hereafter)…” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 948.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) agreed with ‘Umar on the idea of adorning oneself for Eid, but he denounced him for choosing this cloak because it was made of silk.

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had a cloak which he would wear on the two Eids and on Fridays. Saheeh Ibn Khuzaymah, 1756,

Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a saheeh isnaad that Ibn ‘Umar used to wear his best clothes on Eid.

So a man should wear the best clothes that he has when going out for Eid.

With regard to women, they should avoid adorning themselves when they go out for Eid, because they are forbidden to show off their adornments to non-mahram men. It is also haraam for a woman who wants to go out to put on perfume or to expose men to temptation, because they are only going out for the purpose of worship.

6 – Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another.

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Eid, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to vary his route. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 986.

It was said that the reason for that was so that the two routes would testify for him on the Day of Resurrection, for the earth will speak on the Day of Resurrection and say what was done on it, both good and bad.

And it was said that it was in order to manifest the symbols of Islam on both routes, or to manifest the remembrance of Allaah (dhikr), or to annoy the hypocrites and Jews, and to scare them with the large number of people who were with him. And it was said that it was in order to attend to the people’s needs, to answer their questions, teach them, set an example and give charity to the needy, or to visit his relatives and uphold the ties of kinship.

And Allaah knows best.

Eid Mubarak

IslamEid-el-fitr 2018: Sultan Urges Muslims To Look For New Moon Thursday, June 14. by Lukgaf(op): 10:52am On Jun 13, 2018
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, felicitates with the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and all over the world on this year’s Ramadan Fast. The Council prays that Allah the Almighty accepts it from us as an act of Ibadah. Amin.

Following the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the President-General enjoins the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to search for the crescent of Shawwal 1439 AH immediately after sunset on Thursday, 14th June, 2018 equivalent to 29th Ramadan 1439 AH. If the crescent is sighted by Muslims of impeccable character on the said evening, His Eminence would declare Friday, 15th June, 2018 as the first day of Shawwal and the day of ‘idul fitr. If, however, the crescent is not sighted that day, then, Saturday, 16th June, 2018 automatically becomes the first day of Shawwal, 1439 AH and the day of ‘idul fitr.

Muslims all over the country are hereby enjoined to be on the lookout for the directive of His Eminence, the President-General of NSCIA, on the termination of this year’s Ramadan fast.

In addition to established and traditional Islamic leaders in each locality, members of the National Moon Sighting Committee who can be contacted for information and clarification are:

IslamI’tikaaf Of Both Men And Women Is Only Valid If Observed In The Mosque by Lukgaf(op): 11:19am On Jun 07, 2018
Praise be to Allaah.

The scholars are agreed that a man’s i’tikaaf is only valid if observed in the mosque, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I‘tikaaf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques”

[al-Baqarah 2:187]

So i’tikaaf is something that should be done specifically in the mosque.

See al-Mughni, 4/461

With regard to women, the majority of scholars are of the view that as in the case of men, their i’tikaaf is not valid unless it is observed in the mosque, because of the verse quoted above (interpretation of the meaning):

“And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I‘tikaaf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques”

[al-Baqarah 2:187]

The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked him for permission to observe i’tikaaf in the mosque and he gave them permission, and they used to observe i’tikaaf in the mosque after he died.

If it were permissible for a woman to observe i’tikaaf in her house, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would have told them to do that, because it is better for a woman to remain concealed in her house than to go out to the mosque.

Some of the scholars were of the view that it is valid for a woman to observe i’tikaaf in the “mosque” of her house, which is the place that she allocates for prayer in her house.

But the majority of scholars said that this is not allowed and said that the place where she prays in her house is not called a masjid (mosque) except by way of metaphor, and it is not really a mosque, so it does not come under the rulings on mosques, hence it is permissible for people who are junub and menstruating women to enter it.

See al-Mughni, 4/464.

Al-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo’ (6/505):

It is not valid for men or women to observe i’tikaaf anywhere but in the mosque; it is not valid in the mosque of a woman’s house or the mosque of a man’s house, which is a space that is set aside for prayer.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (20/264) about where a woman who wants to observe i’tikaaf should do so?

He replied:

If a woman wants to observe i’tikaaf, she should observe i’tikaaf in the mosque so long as that does not involve anything that is forbidden according to sharee’ah. If that does involve anything that is forbidden then she should not do i’tikaaf.

In al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah (5/212) it says:

The scholars differed as to where women should observe i’tikaaf. The majority are of the view that woman are like men, and their i’tikaaf is not valid unless observed in the mosque. Based on this it is not valid for a woman to observe i'tikaaf in the mosque of her house, because of the report narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) who asked about a woman who vowed to observe i’tikaaf in the mosque of her house. He said: “(This is) an innovation, and the most hateful of actions to Allaah are innovations (bid’ah).” So there can be no i’tikaaf except in a mosque in which prayers are established. And the mosque of a house is not a mosque in the real sense of the word and does not come under the same rulings; it is permissible to change it, and for a person who is junub to sleep in it. Moreover if it were permissible (to observe i’tikaaf at home), the Prophet’s wives (may Allaah be pleased with them) would have done that at least once to show that it is permissible.

If The Night Of Friday Coincides With An Odd Numbered Night, Is That Laylat Qodr

IslamRe: If The Night Of Friday Coincides With An Odd Numbered Night, Is That Laylat Qodr by Lukgaf(op): 9:41am On Jun 07, 2018
Answer:

Praise be to Allah

We have not come across these words that are attributed to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him); rather it was quoted by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) from Ibn Hubayrah. He (may Allah have mercy on him) said – quoting from Ibn Hubayrah (may Allah have mercy on him): If (the night before) Friday coincides with one of the odd-numbered nights during the last ten, then it is more likely than others (to be Laylat al-Qadr).

End quote from Lataa’if al-Ma‘aarif by Ibn Rajab (p. 203)

Perhaps the one who held this view based it on the fact that the night before Friday is the best of the nights of the week, so if it coincides with one of the odd-numbered nights in the last ten nights of Ramadan, it is more likely to be Laylat al-Qadr. But we have not come across any hadith of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) or any words of the Sahaabah to support this view. What the hadiths indicate is that Laylat al-Qadr may be any of the last ten nights, and that it is more likely that one of the odd-numbered nights will be Laylat al-Qadr, and the most likely of these nights is the night of the twenty-seventh, without stating for certain that it is Laylat al-Qadr.

The Muslim should be keen to strive hard throughout the last ten nights, following the example of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

Shaykh Sulaymaan al-Maajid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We do not know of any evidence in Islam to suggest that if the night before Friday coincides with an odd-numbered night, then it is Laylat al-Qadr. Based on that, we cannot be certain of that or believe that it is true. What is prescribed is to strive hard on all the last ten nights, for whoever does that will certainly have caught up with Laylat al-Qadr. And Allah knows best.

End quote.

http://www.salmajed.com/fatwa/findfatwa.php?amo=9880

al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Laylat al-Qadr can only be in Ramadan, then in the last ten nights thereof, then in the odd-numbered nights, not in any particular one of them. This is what is indicated by a number of reports that were narrated concerning that.

End quote from Fath al-Baari (4/260)

An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The hadith of Ubayy ibn Ka‘b says that he used to swear that it was the night of the twenty-seventh, but this is one of several opinions concerning it. Most of the scholars are of the view that it is an unknown night among the last ten nights of Ramadan, and it is most likely to be on an odd-numbered night, and the most likely night is the night of the twenty-seventh or the twenty-third of the twenty-first, but most of them are of the view that it is a specific night that does not move. However, some scholars said that it does move, so in one year it may be the night of the twenty-seventh, and in another year it may be the night of the twenty-third, and in another year it may be the night of the twenty-first, or some other night, and this is more likely to be correct. In this way we may reconcile among the different hadiths.

End quote from Sharh Saheeh Muslim by an-Nawawi (6/43)

IslamIf The Night Of Friday Coincides With An Odd Numbered Night, Is That Laylat Qodr by Lukgaf(op): 9:41am On Jun 07, 2018
Question:

The night of the twenty-seventh this year coincides with the night before Friday, and Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If the night before Friday coincides with one of the odd-numbered nights in the last ten nights of Ramadan, then it is more likely to be Laylat al-Qadr. Is that correct?

Oh Allaah! Bless our parents, forgive them, have mercy on them, unite us in Aljannah.
IslamOur Parents: How Islam Places Them? by Lukgaf(op): 9:31am On Jun 07, 2018
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “He is doomed, he is doomed, he is doomed.” It was said, “Who, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “The person whose parents, one or both of them, reach old age during his lifetime but he does not enter Paradise.” Saheeh Muslim, 4627, 2551.

Parents and children in Islam are ordained together by reciprocated obligations and reciprocal arrangements. And Allaah says “..be dutiful to your parents..” for many reasons. Before marriage; many ups and downs – acceptance and rejections, sleepless nights praying to Allaah to make the marriage successful and bless it. Allaah answered our parents’ payers, bless them with children (me and you) – do me and you care to pray for them?

During pregnant; our mothers can’t sleep, eat, drink…as desired caring for me and you, and our fathers are not at ease thinking and caring for their wives and the unborn babies (me and you). Do me and you care for them now? Unquestionably delivery is one of the more painful events in human experience, it ranges widely from woman to woman and even from pregnancy to pregnancy. The labor pain results from some physiological-psychological causes. Pain during labor is caused by contractions of the muscles of the uterus and by pressure on the cervix felt as strong cramping in the abdomen, groin, thighs and back, as well as an achy feeling. It’s often not the pain of each contraction on its own that women find the hardest, but the fact that the contractions keep coming. She still smiles and happy for giving birth to me and you, yet we appreciate not!

For me and you to be alive, our mothers nearly lost their lives, some actually did in the process of delivery. Many babies were born through caesarean section and many developed sicknesses from cradle that made our parents to become inhabitants of hospitals – hardships upon hardships; sickness of the baby coupled with unconducive and uncomfortable place of living (hospital). Can we remember this and show love to them?! Parents can’t buy what they want because of me and you. Now, we care not, we buy what we want and forget our parents!

Our parents couldn’t relax or concentrate because we cry day and night. Now, we care not about how they feel, it takes time before we remember them. Father developed sickness as a result of our cries in the night; he has worked vigorously in the afternoon and unable to sleep in the night because of me and you. Now, we care not about their income or daily upkeeps until they ask. Some have been told that their parent is behind their distresses and as a result disown their parents. Imagine! Parents refuse to abort pregnancy when me and you know nothing, they refuse to kill or sell us but care for me and you,…but some were brought up to disown them when they become weak at old age, subhaanallaah!

Our parents gave me and you daily upkeeps when we’re young but when me and you start earning income, we spend our salary or income with our wife and children and forget our parents. Parents don’t have rest of mind when we were young caring and praying for us but me and you only remember them when you see their missed call.

Angels Of Mercy: Some Of The Houses They Do Not Enter

IslamAngels Of Mercy: Some Of The Houses They Do Not Enter by Lukgaf(op): 9:21am On Jun 07, 2018
Alhamdulillaah wasalaatu wasalaam ‘ala rasulillaah. The angels do not enter a house in which there is:

A. AN IMAGE OF LIVING THINGS

The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalam said; “The angels do not enter a house in which there is an image.” Al-Bukhari 3226 and Muslim 2106. What is meant by the angels who do not enter a house in which there are images are the angels who go around with mercy, blessings and prayers for forgiveness The words “the angels do not enter” mean: the angels of mercy, not the recording angels or the Angels of death, Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi (8/72).

According to the correct view, this image includes:

1. Those that are hung up to be venerated and respected, as in the case of pictures of kings, presidents, ministers, scholars etc. it is haram

2. Those that are hung up for the sake of memory, such as hanging up pictures of one’s friends, parents etc. it is haram, Muslim 2104

3. Those that are hung up for the purpose of adornment, it is haram. Al-Bukhari, 5610; Muslim, 2107. Sharh Muslim, 14/84, Al-Nihaayah, 4/789, Sharh al-Nasaa’i, 1/141, Fataawa wa Rasaa’il Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem, 1/169, Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi, 8/72, Liqa’ al-Baab al-Maftooh, 85/6, Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 1/705.

B. A DOG

The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalam said: “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah. Also, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalam said: “Whoever keeps a dog, a qiraat from his good deeds will be deducted every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.” Al-Bukhari 2145, Muslim 2978, 2943, Ibn Maajah (3640), Sharh Muslim 10/342; Fath al-Baari, 5/9 Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen, 4/241. Al-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim (10/340) that it is permissible to keep dog in the case of necessity.

C. A BELL

The Messenger of Allah sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalam said: “The angels do not accompany any group with whom there is a dog or a bell.” Muslim 2113, 2114. The bells that are haram are those resembling the church bells of the Christians or have musical sounds. Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (26/284), Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen (4/340).

My brethren, if you don’t keep the aforementioned at home what will be the consequence?! It is so bad today that some hang picture(s) in the mosque of Allaah – Subhanallah! We are believers, we deserved to be blessed, and we are getting it except those who refuse to welcome it.

IslamRe: Benefits Of Becoming Muslim by Lukgaf(op): 1:06pm On Jun 02, 2018
Reflections

The benefits mentioned above and many more cannot be purchased with money anywhere in the world. No one is to sell them to you or to advertise them on TV. You have to take the initiative yourself and try to acquire them by accepting Islam first and then by practicing its teachings. You should be honest with yourself, sincere, and truthful to the Creator. You should try wholeheartedly to practice what you believe, regardless of whether someone else is good or not. While seeking happiness is a must, it should not be measured with other people's standards or with material gains. Happiness is from its potential to its kinetic forms. People around you should feel your happiness as well as benefit from you.

Are you ready to accept this challenge today? Remember, tomorrow may not come, and it will be too late.

IslamRe: Benefits Of Becoming Muslim by Lukgaf(op): 1:05pm On Jun 02, 2018
Lukgaf:
This article is designed for those who wish to become Muslim; as to what would be their benefits after accepting Islam. It should be stated here that we are not trying to entice people to become Muslim, nor are we trying to convert them into the fold of Islam. Any person who wishes to become a Muslim should recognize that he or she will get all these benefits and much more. However, he or she should realize that they have to earn them by practicing the teachings of Islam. Implementing the practice of Islamic teachings is as important as believing.
The following items are some of the benefits to be earned and enjoyed by those who wish to become Muslim:

1. As far as the Creator (whose proper name is Allah) is concerned, you will be able to identify Him and get to know Him, His role and your relationship to His names, you will be able to communicate with Him any time, 24 hours a day, throughout the whole year. As a result of this category, you will be able to know your origin, your roots and the wisdom as to why you are on this planet. You will be able to have good answers to the questions why, how, when, where, what and other philosophical questions.

2. As a result of the first benefit, your loyalty, allegiance, and obedience will be to the Creator himself. You will transcend yourself from all types of allegiance for this world. This means that if there is a conflict of interest between your boss, your job, your government, your system or any worldly relationship with the Creator, you will undoubtedly put your trust in Allah, the Creator of the universe. You will follow Him before you follow anyone else.

3. As a result of the second benefit, you will be able to acquire peace, harmony, tranquility and happiness within yourself, with your family, with people of the world, with the environment and with the universe. One has to remember that the source of peace is Allah, and one of his beautiful names is that He is The Peace.

4. As an endorsement to the third benefit, you will get rid of the extra electrostatic charges from your brain and the central nervous system by performing the daily Salah (prayer). Through Salah, you are to prostrate by putting your forehead to the floor; and as such are grounding yourself, and you are discharging these extra charges into the ground. As a result of this act, you will get rid of many of the neurological diseases from your body.

5. As a result of the fourth benefit, you will acquire a pleasant personality. You will be friendly and amicable. You would not need to drink alcohol, to use drugs or to get involved in vulgarity or immorality.

6. Through the experience of fasting in Islam, you will be able to have self-control, self-restraint, self-discipline, self-education, self-evaluation, and self-obedience to Allah the Creator. You undoubtedly will be able to improve health, personality, character, and behavior.

7. As a result of the sixth benefit, you will be able to control your lusts, selfishness, desires, greed, ego, and conceitedness.

8. Another side reaction of the sixth and seventh benefits is that you will be generous and hospitable; you will try to purify yourself and your mistakes by sharing your happiness and your wealth with those who are less fortunate than you. Your rewards will manifold, compounded daily until the Day of Judgment.

9. By performing pilgrimage to Makkah, you will transcend yourself from being nationalistic, sectarian, or denominational into being universal. You will be part and an essential constituent of the rainbow of Islam. You will be also part of the brotherhood of Islam with those who already submitted themselves to the Creator. At the same time, you will get rid of any inferiority or superiority complexes. You will also find yourself in synchrony and harmony with all the prophets and messengers of Allah since the creation of Adam and Eve until the last final messenger to mankind, prophet Muhammad (PBUH). While in Makkah, you will be able to visit the places of revelation of the Qu`ran as well as the places visited by prophet Abraham and members of his family such as Hagar and Ishmael. You will visit the place where the first astronauts, Adam and Eve landed on earth.

10. In becoming a Muslim, you will do your best to stop all types of exploitations in all their forms: economic, biological, mental, spiritual, psychological, political, etc. You will also work to liberate people and give them freedom of worship, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression. You will be a leader and help lead people to peace, tranquility and happiness.

11. In accepting Islam, you will help to reduce all types of social illnesses in the society: juvenile delinquency, child abuse, domestic abuse, incest, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, premarital relationships, extramarital relationships, and other vices.

12. As a result of the eleventh benefit, you will reduce and eliminate venereal diseases, AIDS, and other diseases of similar nature in the society.

13. Finally, when you die, you will die at peace. You will have a happy life in the grave and later, eternal happiness. Angels at the time of death will comfort you. They will also show you your place in paradise. On the Day of Judgment, you will be able to see and meet all the prophets and messengers of God to mankind including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (PBUH). You will be able to see and meet any and all of your friends and relatives. You will live an eternal life of bliss in paradise.
