The prophet (s.a.w.) provided the believers guidance related to eating and drinking in Ramadan and when fasting. Here are some of his sayings and traditions related to these issues. 1. “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to break his fast with fresh dates before praying; if fresh dates were not available, he would eat (dried) dates; if dried dates were not available, he would have a few sips of water.” [Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 3/79 and others. He said it is a ghareeb hasan hadeeth. Classed as saheeh in al-Irwaa´, no. 922. 2. At the time of breaking the fast, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ Thahabadh-dhama'u wabtallatil-'urooqu, wa thabatal-'ajru 'inshaa'Allaah. The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills. Reference: Abu Dawud 2/306 Refer to https://www.nairaland.com/4510539/ramadan-18-supplication-when-breaking 3. And the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The people will remain in good so long as they hasten to break the fast (at it’s appointed time)” [Agreed upon by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]; 4. Taking suhoor (morning breakfast) is very much recommended by the prophet. The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Take the sahoor (pre-dawn meal), for indeed in the sahoor there is blessing” [Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fat’h, 4/139.] “Suhoor is blessed food, and it involves being different from the people of the Book. A good suhoor for the believer is dates.” [Reported by Abu Dawood, no. 2345; Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1/448.] 5. During the fasting season, we should also be wary not to overeat and fill stomachs. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Man fills no vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to have a few mouthfuls to give him the strength he needs. If he has to fill his stomach, then let him leave one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air.” (Reported by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Maajah. Saheeh al-Jaami’, 5674). 6. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to a man who burped in his presence: “Stop your burping, for the people who eat the most in this life will be the most hungry on the Day of Resurrection.” (Reported by al-Haakim. Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1190). 7. It is also important to perform Niyyah, which is to make intention (in one’s heart). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no fast for the person who did not intend to fast from the night before.” [Reported by Abu Dawood, no. 2454. A number of the scholars, such as al-Bukhaari, al-Nasaa`i, al-Tirmidhi and others thought it was likely to be mawqoof. See Talkhees al-Habeer, 2/188.] “The intention may be made at any point during the night, even if it is just a moment before Fajr. Niyyah means the resolution in the heart to do something; speaking it aloud is bid‘ah (a reprehensible innovation), and anyone who knows that tomorrow is one of the days of Ramadan and wants to fast has [due to that knowledge, already] made the intention. Below is the supplication when breaking the fast in the evening after the sunset and before you eat. Please let's try and memorise it! It takes less than 5minutes to memorise if said repeatedly. Allah will make it possible |
Could you kindly pour water on your head to cool down your body if you are feeling hungry or thirst @lalasticlala, sissie, Mukina2 and fellow Muslims? This Islam is beauty, so don't punish yourself! |
RAMADAN 2018 SERIES 1ST Ramadan 1439 Praise be to Allah Fasting is one of the pillars of Islam, as is well known. Therefore it is not permissible for the Muslim to be heedless about it just because he feels thirsty or hungry, or just because he is afraid that he cannot fast. Rather he must be patient and seek the help of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted. There is nothing wrong with him pouring water on his head to cool down, or rinsing out his mouth. He must begin his day fasting, and if it so happens that he is not able to complete it, and he fears that he may die or become sick, it is permissible for him to break the fast in that case. But he should not break the fast on the basis of a mere assumption; rather he should not break the fast unless he experiences hardship. Ibn Qudaamah said: The correct view is that if he fears for himself due to extreme thirst or hunger and the like, then he may break the fast. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in his commentary on al-Kaafi: “If he fears thirst” does not refer to mere ordinary thirst; rather it refers to the kind of thirst in which there is the fear of dying, or there is the fear of suffering harm. End quote from Ta‘leeqaat Ibn ‘Uthaymeen ‘ala al-Kaafi (3/124). An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in al-Majmoo‘ (6/258): Our companions and others said: Whoever is overcome by hunger and thirst, and fears that he may die, must break the fast, even if he is in good health and is not travelling, because Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “And do not kill (or destroy) from yourselves: Surely, to you Allah has been Most Merciful (Raheem)” [an-Nisa’ 4:29] “and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction” [al-Baqarah 2:195]. And he must make up that day, as is required of one who is sick. And Allah knows best. End quote. So you must make up that day, and if you were too hasty and broke the fast before experiencing the level of hardship that makes it permissible to break the fast, then you must also repent from what you did, and not do that again. And Allah knows best. https://islamqa.info/en/274712 To be continue tomorrow, In shaa Allah... Asalam Alaekum |
and is this a scholarship? |
The fact they are Arab doesn't mean they can't make Mistake. Our prophet asked us to look for crescent before we start or stop fasting. No calendar is allowed even if it is printed by Imam of Kaaba 41lady: |

Bimpe29:Who tell you that? Firstly, today is 28th in South Africa too plus it is not the issue of majority of Muslim but the appearance of Crescent which is to be annouce by leaders of muslims and only only recognised Islamic leader in Nigeria to announce the sighting of the moon before we commence the fast is the Sultan. Don't compare Nigeria with other countries as there are different Geographical location. So sighting of the moon in different countries may differ |

Mukina2, Sissie, lalasticlala and all Muslims in Nairaland. Ramadan Kareem |
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, MNI, felicitates with the entire Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming Ramadan, 1439 A.H. The Council prays that Allah grant the Ummah the opportunity to maximise the benefits and blessings of the Holy Month. Following the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the President-General enjoins the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to search for the crescent of Ramadan 1439 AH immediately after sunset on Wednesday, 16th May, 2018 equivalent to 29th Sha’aban 1439 AH. If the crescent is sighted by Muslims of impeccable character on the said evening, His Eminence would declare Thursday, 17th May, 2017 as the first day of Ramadan. If, however, the crescent is not sighted that day, then, Friday, 18th May, 2018 automatically becomes the first of Ramadan, 1439 AH. The Council hereby enjoins the Muslims all over the Country to be on the lookout for the announcement of His Eminence, the President-General of NSCIA, on the commencement of the 1439 AH Ramadan fast. Seven Beautiful Characteristics Which Make A Muslim Wife Exceptional https://www.nairaland.com/4498254/seven-beautiful-characteristics-which-make |
(1) The Patient: The woman who remains patient in all circumstances, and tries to never whine, moan, nag or complain. When some trouble or affliction hits her, she turns to Allah Almighty for help. (2) The Protector: The woman who protects her husband’s wealth and her chastity when he is away from home. She doesn’t gossip or mingle with other men, nor does she allow anyone into their home without his approval. As a clever and wise wife, she knows, respects and stays within the boundaries of his gheerah (protective jealousy). When he returns, she runs into his arms, as if she was anticipating for his return. She allows him time to relax before anything and does not burden him with the day’s problems, but listens attentively to his needs and does her best to take his tiredness away. (3) The Lover: The women who adores her husband, beautifies herself, and smells nice for him. She craves for his children to the extent that whenever her husband glances at her, du’aa pours for her from the bottom of his heart. She is characterised with shyness and modesty, glancing with love in her eyes, only for her husband. (4) The Good Do-er: The women who has an excellent reputation in society – for being kind, caring and courteous. She is good with her neighbours and relatives & never backbites or displays jealousy. (5) The Content: The women who tries to cast her eyes away from material things and is content with whatever little her husband gives her. She is thankful to him for every morsel that he feeds her, every clothe that he gifts her, including the roof over her head. She makes her gratefulness known to him in words and action and thus, soothes her husband’s heart. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised, she looks at those less fortunate than herself in the material world. She then becomes even more thankful to her Lord and her Husband for all that she does have. (6) The Pious: The women who spends much of her day in dhikr, reading the Qur'aan and performing her Salaah. She further spends her nights in praying tahajjud and crying to Allah for His forgiveness. She encourages her husband to give daw’ah in his spare time. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised, she looks at those more pious than her in the religious sense and strives to progress further in piety and knowledge. (7) The Sweet Smiler: A wise wife tries to smile a lot, especially when her husband is at home. She always talks gently, choosing the sweetest of words, so much so that it seems that pearls are dripping from her mouth. The ideal wife never raises her voice while talking to her husband. If her husband is angry with her for some reason and shouts at her, she tries her best not to answer back but instead maintains dignified silence. She understands that a man by nature, loves to be the ‘king of the jungle’, wanting to prove himself right, it makes him feel good. Two seconds of patience from the wife can go a long way… Quite simply, its all about psychology. When he has calmed down, she then speaks to him wisely. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said; “I guarantee a house in the outskirts of Jannah for the one who gives up arguing even if he/she is in the right…” [Tirmidhee] So even if the husband is in the wrong, she should try her best to give up arguing and expect her reward from Allaah. The exceptional wife should be wise in dealing with the situation at hand, without making things worse for herself and her family. Fiqh of Fasting (5) The Things That Do Not Invalidate Fast Some things that do not invalidate the fast: 1. It is permissible for the fasting person to take a bath or to seek relief from the heat by pouring water over part or all of his body, irrespective of the time, and that does not affect his fast. al-Bukhari (1926) and Muslim (1109), Abu Dawood (2365), Classed as saheeh by al-Albani in Saheeh Abi Dawud, ‘Awn al-Ma’bud, al-Mughni, 3/18. 2. As it is less than a week to a Ramadan now, it is imperative we remind ourselves of the virtues of the Glorious month Lukgaf: |
Praise be to Allaah. Ramadaan is one of the twelve Arabic months. It is a month which is venerated in the Islamic religion, and it is distinguished from the other months by a number of characteristics and virtues, including the following: 1 – Allaah has made fasting this month the fourth pillar of Islam, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…” [al-Baqarah 2:185] and it was narrated in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 8; Muslim, 16) from the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Islam is built on five (pillars): the testimony that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah; establishing prayer; paying zakaah; fasting Ramadaan; and Hajj to the House (the Ka’bah).” 2 – Allaah revealed the Qur’aan in this month, as He says in the verse quoted above (interpretation of the meaning): “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)…” [al-Baqarah 2:185] And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree).” [al-Qadr 97:1] 3 – Allaah has made Laylat al-Qadr in this month, which is better than a thousand months, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree). And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allaah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [Jibreel (Gabriel)] by Allaah’s Permission with all Decrees, (All that night), there is peace (and goodness from Allaah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn” [al-Qadar 97:1-5] “We sent it (this Qur’aan) down on a blessed night [(i.e. the Night of Al-Qadr) in the month of Ramadan — the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]” [al-Dukhaan 44:3] Allaah has blessed Ramadaan with Laylat al-Qadr. Explaining the great status of this blessed night, Soorat al-Qadr was revealed, and there are many ahaadeeth which also speak of that, such as the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There has come to you Ramadaan, a blessed month which Allaah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 2106; Ahmad, 8769. classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 999. And Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his previous sins.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1910; Muslim, 760. 4 – Allaah has made fasting Ramadaan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” And al-Bukhaari (2008) and Muslim (174) also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” The Muslims are unanimously agreed that it is Sunnah to pray qiyaam at night in Ramadaan. Al-Nawawi said that what is meant by praying qiyaam in Ramadaan is to pray Taraweeh, i.e., one achieves what is meant by qiyaam by praying Taraaweeh. 5 – In this month, Allaah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell, and chains up the devils, as is stated in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 1898; Muslim, 1079), from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Ramadaan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.” 6 – Every night Allaah has people whom He redeems from the Fire. Imam Ahmad (5/256) narrated from the hadeeth of Abu Umaamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “At every breaking of the fast, Allaah has people whom He redeems.” Al-Mundhiri said: there is nothing wrong with its isnaad; and it was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 987. Al-Bazzaar (Kashf 962) narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has people whom He redeems every day and night – i.e., in Ramadaan – and every Muslim every day and night has a prayer that is answered.” 7 – Fasting Ramadaan is a means of expiation for the sins committed since the previous Ramadaan, so long as one avoids major sins. It was proven in Saheeh Muslim (233) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The five daily prayers, from one Jumu’ah to the next and from one Ramadaan to the next are expiation for (sins committed) in between, so long as you avoid major sins.” 8 – Fasting in Ramadaan is equivalent to fasting ten months, as is indicated by the hadeeth in Saheeh Muslim (1164) narrated from Abu Ayyoob al-Ansaari: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan then follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be like fasting for a lifetime.” Ahmad (21906) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan, a month is like ten months, and fasting six days after al-Fitr will complete the year.” 9 – Whoever prays qiyaam in Ramadaan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer, because of the report narrated by Abu Dawood (1370) and others from the hadeeth of Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Salaat al-Taraaweeh, p. 15 10 – ‘Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj. Al-Bukhaari (1782) and Muslim (1256) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to a woman among the Ansaar, “What kept you from doing Hajj with us?” She said, “We only had two camels that we used for bringing water.” So her husband and son had gone for Hajj on one camel, and he left the other for them to use for bringing water.” He said, “When Ramadaan comes, go for ‘Umrah, for ‘Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj.” According to a report narrated by Muslim, “… is equivalent to doing Hajj with me.” 11 – It is Sunnah to observe i’tikaaf (retreat for the purpose of worship) in Ramadaan, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) always did that, as it was narrated in the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to spend the last ten days of Ramadaan in i’tikaaf until he passed away, then his wives observed i’tikaaf after him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1922; Muslim, 1172. 12 – It is mustahabb in the sense of being strongly recommended in Ramadaan to study the Qur’aan together and to read it a great deal. You may study the Qur’aan together by reciting it to someone else and by having someone else recite it to you. The evidence that this is mustahabb is the fact that Jibreel used to meet the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) every night in Ramadaan and study the Qur’aan with him. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6; Muslim, 2308. Reading Qur’aaan is mustahabb in general, but more so in Ramadaan. 13 – It is mustahabb in Ramadaan to offer iftaar to those who are fasting, because of the hadeeth of Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Maajah, 1746; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 647. see question no: ( 12598 ) And Allaah knows best. https://islamqa.info/en/13480 |

keep quiet bro and reason along. If you want to be good reporters, you dont add or subtract. You may not see anything there since you are christian. When Boko Haram and Fulani Heards men killed many people in Nigeria with mostly Muslim, and some newspaper now claimed Donald Trumph said they should stop killing christian alone whereas he made mention of the two religion. Imagine if Buhari went to Saudi and the newspaper said they should stop killing Muslims, I know u will be wailing around. Try and be just and be objective.
