With regards to the bolded, all I can type is dejavu. Many of my compatriots in Ghana used the same phrase when images were beamed back to the motherland. But to be fair, its not good to turn down invitations in diplomatic circles, you either send emissaries or you get there yourself, I don't think they did any wrong by attending to an invitation. I beg to disagree, they should have send their respective minister of sport. It's embarrassing to see african Presidents coming together to witness commissioning of stadium. As useless as my President is, he wouldn't dare leave this country to do that rubbish(hopefully he wouldn't). The uproar that will greet that decision is better imagine. |

With three sitting, and at least one former, African Presidents (Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire) in attendance, along with the National Chairman and other top officials of the People's Democratic Party, state governors, ministers, the cream of Nollywood, active and retired footballers, including Pele himself, international media personalities and sundry social (and political) climbers, Governor Godswill Akpabio clearly OUTDID himself with the sheer extravagance of the event I'm use to seeing Nigeria so called leaders celebrating mediocrity but what was a little bit shocking was seeing 3 sitting African Presidents leaving their country to witness rubbish. They are jobless and obviously birds of the same feathers. |

Politics › Re: Why Did Buhari Jail VP Ekuweme But Place President Shagari Under House Arrest? by luvmijeje(f): 4:30pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
yemaldo: There were dozens of former governors, ministers, business people of Muslim Hausa-Fulani origin who were similarly jailed by the Buhari regime. Just a few examples: 1. Umar Dikko, a Muslim Hausa Fulani scion and arguably the most influential northern politician at the time, was unprecedentedly pursued up to his UK hiding place, abducted by the Nigerian security agents, bundled and literally 'boxed' and almost got smuggled back to Nigeria - to account for his alleged corruption during the Shagari regime. 2. Isyaku Rabiu, arguably one of the richest ever Hausa Fulani businessmen, and one of the most highly respected Islamic scholars as well (he is indeed one of the leading Tijaniyya Sheikhs in West Africa), was not only thrown to jail at the time but even got one of his legs reportedly broken by the security agents in the process of his arrest, probably after his hundreds of supported tried to prevent him from being arrested. 3. Another super-rich northern businessman in Kaduna, late A Haruna Dan-ja, also a Muslim Hausa Fulani, was equally arrested and thrown into jail (both Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu and Danja were allegedly implicated in corrupt practices that were considered harmful to the national economy, such as misuse of import licences, hoarding of essential commodities, etc.). 4. Late Sabo Bakin Zuwa, a former governor of Kano state, was sentenced to 300 years in jail WITH HARD LABOUR by a Kaduna military tribunal, after which he was rumoured to have 'begged' the tribunal for more years, saying that 'mere 300 years' were not enough! LOL 5. A prominent businessman of Katsina origin, a Hausa-Fulani Muslim, who had been allegedly aiding and abetting cross- border smuggling between Nigeria and Niger for many years prior to the coming of the Buhari regime, and who was so well connected in the country, had to hide in the ceiling of his house when security agents swooped his home in the dead hours of the night; they evacuated all his family members and spent hours looking for him. He eventually had to run to the Republic of Niger where he took refuge! 6. A very influential former ambassador of Kaduna state origin, a Hausa Muslim, is STILL living in the capital of a Western country, apparently too traumatized and frightened to return to Nigeria, having been implicated in a massive corruption case back then. Like in the cases of Southern politicians, almost all of the northern Hausa-Fulani politicians jailed during Buhari regime were NEVER FREED until AFTER the Buhari regime was overthrown. The fugitives among them also never returned until after the overthrow of the Buhari's government (a few never returned to date!). Whoever is old, enlightened and honest enough should know all this, as it was very much a public knowledge. In fact, immediately after the ouster of the Buhari regime, hundreds of friends, relatives and business associates of Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu trooped to his Kano residence and started frenzied celebrations and special prayers in anticipation of the release of their billionaire Sheikh. What many people in the South do not seem to know is the fact that the corrupt among the Hausa Fulani Muslim elite hate and fear a Buhari government as much as the Christian bigots and tribalists would hate it, but for different reasons. While the latter group hate Buhari for nothing other than sheer religious bigotry and incurable tribalism, the former fear the general because they know very well that it would never be business as usual for them under a Buhari-led government - being a Muslim and a Hausa- Fulani would NOT shield anyone of them from being held accountable! PDP! The ball is now in your court. |

It boggles the mind that in a densely populated and politically active state such as Lagos, there can be so many units with no registered voters at all. This bellied the recent history of voting in Lagos. It makes no logical sense.” INEC should respond to this. PVC was distributed in my locality today and I didn't have any issue collecting mine. Ceding Bakassi to Cameroun did not stop OBJ from ruling Nigeria, ceding few parts of the North to BH will not stop GEJ from ruling Nigeria, or are those parts of the North of better economic importance than Bakassi? He should resign due to derelict of duty I.e failing to protect the citizens of this country. He should resign for ceding not just one but 17 local governments to the insurgents. If you still don't see reasons why he should resign please do keep quiet. |

My advice to the men and boys, christain or muslim from states affected by boko haram activities is to arm themselves and defend their town and villages, @ least they have something to die for. We are talking of the CDS. He has an information of an incoming attack. In military parlance that's called an Intel. That's is a critical information. He sat on it. That's called treason. pazienza: There is no war going on in Nigeria, there is a war going on in the North. GEJ is not the president of the North, he is the president of Nigeria, if any one should be resigning,it should be the governors of those affected Northern states, they are supposed to be the chief security officers of those states.
GEJ doesn't have the luxury of focusing on just the North alone,as there are other parts of Nigeria he has to focus on too, and if anybody would want to blame GEJ for the war in the North, then they would first have to praise him for the peace present in the South, and if you feel that the peace we enjoy in the south has nothing to do with GEJ, then you must know that the war in the North has nothing to do with GEJ too. Senseless talk. Is the North not part of Nigeria? |

My free advice to the Jonathan campaigner is simple; stop projecting our President as a sectional leader whose only qualification is where he comes from. Stop raining insults on Northerners and avoid maligning innocent Muslims. The religious card you wish and hope to play will never play out in favour of President Jonathan. You should concentrate on projecting the positive work and his Transformation Agenda. A President is the father of the nation. A lot of damage has been done by portraying him as a victim who’s derided by everyone except his own. The President’s handlers should worry more about how the goodwill of 2011 got frittered away in such a jiffy. Above all, they should urgently search for competent Maths teachers. Unfortunately that's too late for him. |
