HealthRe: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by Lyoncrescent:
Good Afternoon, want to give a feedback on the cerclage. Just after Olan quoted 420k for the cerclage and based on the advice on this forum and elsewhere, we sought to go to ayinke house. A close family friend who is a matron in one of the hospitals under Lagos state linked us up with a doctor who is obs/gyn . The man is based in ikorodu now and works with the general hospital in ijede ikorodu and he has his own private hospital. We saw him initially in his private hospital and he recommended the cerclage also to be done in General hospital ijdede.

I've never been to a government hospital and the road to the ijede general hospital is really bad but fortunately my parents stay in ikorodu so the distance was managed. Will do the review of my experience of the facilities later but in summary it was better than I expected even though it was rowdy.

My wife had a successful cerclage procedure done for her there and they kept her on bed rest for one week. They also put something in her to pass urine from her bladder to a bag for two days so she has less urge to stand up after the procedure.she also didn't eat before the procedure and she said it wasn't painful. She's much stronger and we did another scan and the cerclage is well placed and baby is fine. No pain yet from the two large fibroids . Going to be 14 weeks soon.

Finally from the 420 Thousand Naira olan quoted , At the General hospital ijede the cost of the cerclage plus cost of accommodation with feeding for seven days plus cost of merceline tape plus cost of necessary drugs came to a grand total of 44k. 44 Thousand Naira. The food wasn't fantastic though so I had to take food to her everyday based on her peculiar cravings for each day.
The doctor we are using is experienced as in general hospital they are exposed to all sorts of cases so I believe he's seen things and he is also realistic.

As for the general hospital ijede, they tried. They even have AC unit in the female ward with plasma TV showing DStv.The power supply is also 24/7 and the environment is neat. There's always a nurse in the room as nurses have a designated chair and table in the ward. You can also Google them and see some of their strides. It's small but they are trying . Also olan charges 15k for ultrasound. They charge 1,500. However it's not about just the cost savings, the doctor seeing us knows what he's doing so far and is handling it as a high risk pregnancy. We keep praying. I thank you all for the advice to use a government hospital. I'm grateful.
SportsRe: Lionel Messi At 33: 10 Interesting Facts You Should Know About Him by Lyoncrescent: 1:52pm On Jun 24, 2020
I like Messi and think he is an elite player that requires the best of the best players and everything to be in optimum condition for him to win . His last champions League title, he needed Suarez, neymar and iniesta. He has not won the UCL since 2015 without iniesta and previously xavi. Iniesta and xavi had leadership qualities that Messi lacks and I doubt if with xavi and iniesta, Barca would have lost at anfield 4-0 after the first leg. When things are not going right Messi doesn't have the grit or leadership ability to pull through.

That's why any small thing, he always retires from the national team. He doesn't have the same elite quality in the national team and the main issue with Messi is that coaches think he should be captain cos he's the best player however Messi is not captain material. He drops his head when things go wrong. It took neymar to ginger the team that season when they came back against psg . Neymar was letting his teamates know the game is on and he was gesturing and encouraging them and we also remember how Messi dropped his head and shoulder when that Roma defender scored to knock them out of the UCL. Compare to Ronaldo who got injured during final of the European championships which Portugal won and how he turned into an assistant coach on the touch line encouraging the team, Messi lacks that spirit .

All in all, Messi is the greatest ever but it's also good to acknowledge his faults and it will be interesting to see him win the UCL without either of xavi and iniesta . After all, talent is never enough. Happy birthday to the greatest player ever

Kobojunkie:
Ok, so Jesus Christ is the one we ought all to listen to, since after all, we are meant to be His followers, not followers of pastors/Preachers/Prophets/Leaders/GOs etc.
Where did Jesus Christ tell you that God chooses Pastors or Christian leaders?
Why did God through Jesus Christ install His own Spirit inside of every one of His followers, if His plan all along was to send you other people called Pastors or Christian leaders to lead you? Doesn't that make the Spirit of God redundant?

Where in scripture did Jesus Christ uplift the cup in the manner that you continue to? What did Jesus Christ tell His followers as far as authority and leadership?
Ok, so you chastise others for calling their pastors or whatever "papa, but you call your own "daddy". I wonder what Jesus meant when He said to call no man "Abba, Father"?
Good Afternoon, I believe first of all that you have a deep understanding of spiritual things and can decipher what I was trying to say however just in case you don't let me have a second go.

Every pastor has not passed the test only Jesus. No matter how annoited a pastor is, he will be judged . The pastor is like a class captain in a class who is to coordinate and not stand like he's the teacher. The class captain is also a student . The pastor shouldn't be in between you and Jesus but rather point you in the way as I spired by the holy spirit. Praying in the name of God of kobojunkie unless as led by the holy spirit is wrong .

Another danger about the spirit of God in followers / pastors is the ambiguity. There are some people who have gift of the spirit because of the Grace of God upon their lives. In other words they work for God but they don't walk with God. Those are the people God will say he doesn't know in the last days even though they will make a case that they did marvelous works in the name of Jesus. In the white garment fold for example, this is common practice. You see highly gifted spiritual people with spiritual gifts but their lifestyle isn't right as they have multiple wives and fornicate. In the earlier days great healing Evangelists like Emmanuel Omotunde Omoniyi and Daniel Orekoya performed so much miracles but there has been various commentaries on their ways of life . The gifts of the spirit to work for God carries so many people away especially followers who are not grounded. I believe you are grounded and understand what I'm saying but many dont.

About the daddy comment , Ruth elton is the daughter to Pa Elton who was a missionary who spent decades in Ilesha. Pa Elton worked with many ministers from the likes of Ayo babalola in the 1940s' to the likes of Idahosa, Gbile Akanni, Adeboye and others in the 1980s. The daddy the quote was referring to was her biological father .

It's sad. This man was a fierce critic of tinubu. Vocal and firm. He reminds me of gani fawehinmi just that gani did a lot more for the masses and civil rights since he was a lawyer. However I dare say that this man and gani died for nothing. The democracy they fought for is worse than the military rule . Nigeria is not worth dying for .

The volume of testing they are doing now is what should have been done during the lockdown. Now it's uncontrollable. A vicious cycle. I'm one hundred percent sure that even those who test positive stay at home. There's no way Lagos is moving those numbers from their homes to isolation centres on a daily basis . No capacity in any form or manner to execute that .

naptu2:
The Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board came into being as part of President Babangida's liberalisation and regulation policy. That administration had a lot of brilliant people who created a lot of brilliant policies, but the problems were in the implementation.

Basically, the government (on paper) wanted to liberalise the economy and create other sources of income apart from crude oil. In order to create new sectors it needed a lot of regulatory agencies to monitor these sectors. If you look back, you'll notice that a lot of these regulatory agencies were created at the same time: Nigerian Boradcasting Commission, Nigerian Film and Video Censor's Board, National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control, etc.

The National Film and Video Censor's Board didn't really create a structure when it was initially created. It's main role was to prevent the production of movies that the government did not like. Like I wrote earlier, a lot of those sectors were not really regulated. Would you believe that I watched scenes that contained nudity on the NTA in the late 1980s and early 1990s? There was no government agency to prohibit that. Actions were usually taken after the fact and they were taken arbitrarily. Similarly, drugs were sold anyhow before the creation of NAFDAC. Most of the chemists had no pharmacists. So the censor's board was created to ensure that pornography and other such movies that the government did not want were not produced.

A structure existed during the cinema era. In fact, that was one of the criticisms of Nollywood in its early days, that it did not have a structure, unlike the golden age cinema industry. Movies weren't released anyhow during the golden age. A movie must have its cinema run. It must have its premiere. There was a system for producing and releasing movies back then. That system began to break down in the early 1980s. I'll tell you how it broke down at the end of this post.

As you rightly said, home videos existed before Nollywood was created. I watched the popular and amazing movie "Evil Encounter" (the Cult of Natas) on video in 1983 or 1984. This was the period that the cinema culture began declining. People were afraid to go to the cinema at night because of violent robberies. The swinging Lagos night club scene was also affected. Therefore, people like Jimi Odumosu decided that it made more sense to produce their movies on VHS and sell directly to people.

This also affected the cinema culture in a terrible way. Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala) was used to making a lot of money from the cinemas. That was when the structure was still in place. This meant that he could invest a lot of money into movie making and reap his profits afterwards. However, the early 1980s was a different kettle of fish. People had started realising that you could sell video cassettes and make your money back quickly. Baba Sala released Orun Mooru, but before it could make money for him on the cinema scene, people had pirated it and were selling it on video cassettes. This was the first time that he lost money in the movie industry. He lost a lot of money. The structure had broke down.
Thank you for the education

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

This is getting comical. I have posted so much fact, but you don't post any facts, you simply appear and post your own opinion as if that means anything. The box office takings for Mosebolatan and other movies are in my previous post to you but you can't address that because you don't know what you are talking about. You are the one running around this thread going in circles.

You are probably too young to know that there was a movie industry during the golden age. You rushed into this thread to spew ignorance. You were confronted with facts that you did not know and your only response is to keep running around and posting your opinions as if they are facts.

If it was not a money spinning business, then you should at least tell us what the box office receipts were that made it not to be successful. This is getting to be like comedy. Just look at your response to all the facts I dropped. grin grin grin
Evening, I think I understand you. However if I'm correct I think the Nigerian film and video censors board came into being in 1993 to handle regulation of the video format if I'm correct. The Nigerian film commission was created in the 70s to handle film/ cinema if I'm correct. Like you have said , not all movies made in America are Hollywood movies which is correct . I once heard Kenneth okonkwo speak on this issue and his point was that prior to living in bondage there was no structure for video format movies hence the creation of the Nigerian film and video censors board in 1993 after the release of living in bondage. He also said that membership association and structures came into being after this period of living in bondage. I know one or two directors who don't like to classify their movies or films as nollywood. The funny thing is even the living in bondage released in 1992 was not the first movie released on VHS or popularised through VHS. I know a movie released by late alade aromire that was released in 1989 on VHS format.

All in all, I think people can only see what they want to see regardless of facts. There was a thriving film and cinema industry before 1992 whether they believe it or not.

Arab contractors na Baba. Julius Berger is useless. If FG had given Lagos Ibadan express way to Arab contractors and the Chinese ccecc, that road would have been done under two years . Payment could have even been structured based on milestone. Julius Berger is past glory and scam. They are so so slow and sometimes I think it's deliberate. Procurement is a major issue in this country If not so many construction companies beat Julius Berger hands down.

It's not really money that is my problem afterall people use Lagoon. It's just I don't see any conviction in the story. I have been carried away by doctors before so I don't look at that much.
Thank you so much for this advice. God bless you. I will take this advice and we will go to ayinke house to see a consultant. Thank you once again. Funny thing is my mum and brother in law also recommended Ayinke house from day one but the whole COVID-19 scare is what put us off a d the wrong info we got that they are only seeing emergency patients. My mum doesn't like private profit driven hospitals at all and she also believes the government hospitals more.

Scan for 7500 which hospital is this pricey pls follow omojudy advice she has much experience there.
The scan normally is 15k. The 7500 for scan is a discount you get when you pay 150k for antenatal. It's pricey true true. I've done scan for 2k before in a small hospital in ikorodu one time and I saw the baby just that the olan scan truly looks like a machine . smiley

How did you confirm his diagnosis anyway? By persuasive compassion? All hospitals are taking new cases in all departments, especially govt hospitals because sicknesses other than Covid exist and there are centers for Covid not them!
He only showed us on the scan that the distance between the cervix and the baby is short and that due to the nature of the last miscarriage where the baby came out on its own after some pain that the cervix is probably weak. That was his explanation. But with what you've said, we are not far from ayinke house. Will breeze in tomorrow to see if we can see someone in the private wing there. Thank you but if you know any hospital where we can get a second opinion either government or private or where we can get the procedure done if needed, I'm open to suggestions. This forum is more useful than using Google. Thanks a lot for your response. Appreciate it.

Congratulations. Did you say pricey? I say damn expensive. Cerclage na BTW 150k to 200k. Did in County hospital during my time. But I did say you should just carry your leg to ayinke jejely for everything plus antenatal and born. If not for lasuth I for still dey carry Belle miscarry up till now. They are good with gynecology. Forget all these private hospital smile. They are nice so you will pay your money.
I will have to visit ayinke house for the procedure but will probably do the antenatal and other things with olan . Last I tried someone said they said they are receiving only emergency patients due to Corona virus . Hospital hopping isn't easy but if not for today, none of the previous doctors we saw told us the cervix was short/ weak and a cerclage would be needed . Thanks for the advice

Good afternoon, so we went to olan hospital today recommended by ohemababy on this platform and we saw Dr soyoola. He took his time to explain and I actually saw empathy in his words though he told us to buckle up for some pain cos of the huge sizes of the fibroid. He told us if we want to pray, we should pray to deliver safely with grace of God and not just praying against the fibroid . He also explained the technicalities. However he said we need to do a cervical cerclage operation which they want to charge over 300k for. Their antenatal is 150k and doesn't cover scan. Scan fee during ante natal is 7500 per scan. Today we paid 20k for consulting and another 15 k for the scan making 35k. It's pricey but he seems to know what he's doing and he takes his time to explain the technicalities in a simple way. So baby is fine though the fibroids are above it.

Please is there anyone that has done this cervical cerclage procedure before and can you recommend where you did it and how much . Some said ayinke house can do it . Mind you the 300k olan is charging doesn't include the two days admission for the procedure and all the tests required which may easily take the costs to 400k. I can use them for the antenatal cos I like the doctor and their staff seem nice but I need a second opinion on whether I can do the procedure elsewhere. Thank you.

By the way today was the first time we saw the baby dancing in the scan. It was very exciting.

What make the bolded stand?
MBA schools all over the world have one form.of international accreditation or the other. The top three accreditation given to business schools across the world are EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB. Many of the best business schools have at least one of these three at least for their MBA programs to ensure that the standard is at a particular benchmark compared to other schools . Having the three doesn't mean the school is the best as some schools in America focus on the AACSB which accredits business schools. The EQUIS is more Europe focussed and accredits business schools too and is focussed on diversity and other factors. The AMBA focuses on accreditation of MBA programs . If you have the three, that's called triple accreditation and is used as an excellent marketing tool.

Back to your question, Pan African university the owners of Lagos business school have both AMBA and AACSB accreditation. That's a major step as for years only south African universities and few other universities in Africa had any one of these three accreditations. Also if you have attended a course, seminar or program at Lagos business school, you will know that the ambience and delivery method is excellent.

Only pan African university which owns Lagos business school has a sound MBA program that has international accreditation. All the other schools on this list don't have world renowned and accredited MBA programs. I can't speak for the other post graduate programs from the other universities but you see MBA in Nigeria, if you can afford it , just to to Lagos business school or wait till you have enough money and go to other top business schools in Africa or other parts of the world .

Im also hospital hunting and these were recommended.
Went to both places today and couldn't see gyne. St. Ives gyne closed at 1pm due public holiday but 4pm on regular days and Deseret's gyne only consults on Fridays undecided
I'd be interested in hearing your review of Olan, if you did visit today
We couldn't make it today but we would go to olan tomorrow. I think the key thing for me and my wife is not just the hospital but the experience and competency of the obn/gyn consultant that we are going to see. Not everyone of them is experienced in handling high risk pregnancies even though it's all in the hand of God you want the best care. Olan said we will be seen by Dr Emmanuel soyoola. I checked him out and he seems good. Nothing exceptional that most consultants in Nigeria don't have but I prefer someone who also has empathy.

I remember when we had a miscarriage at over 9 weeks last year at mother and child near omole, I feel we didn't get enough empathy or information or counselling. It was tough and the consultant we saw there later told us that the best thing is to remove the fibroid even though they were not conclusive that the miscarriage was caused by the fibroid and we had been assured that the fibroid won't trouble the child. The bill for the operation was 900k which we were ready to pay but my wife was such in an emotional state that operation wasn't an option . The funny thing is we saw our baby in the ultrasound and the doctor at mother and child said all was fine, an hour later she was in pain and the baby literally came out on its own when she was coughing and stretching in pain. After counseling somewhere else and all, we got pregnant again and here we are. I'm not an expert and I'm sure the doctors did their best but I didn't feel there was enough empathy especially for my wife. That's why we are Searching. All in all,I'm not running down mother and child just sharing my experience and I recognize some of these things are the will of God and no matter how expert the doctor is, God's will will be done however when God's will is done, medical practitioners should show empathy and counselling especially when you literally saw it come out. It is well. We stay strong and we carry till full term.
