Good afternoon everyone, please can anyone recommend a good hospital for antenatal and delivery in Ikeja and its environs. My wife is just seven weeks and we currently see a specialist in Ikeja in his clinic which closes 4pm daily but we want a Government hospital as options. Th specialist recommended mother and child hospital omole but my family says Government hospitals are better . My wife has fibroid too but they said it's not going to be an issue.please you can also recommend a private hospital. Thank you |
The question of choice on who to marry is a critical one. Once you choose wrongly, oyo things. However I believe women should not endure any form of abuse either physical or mental and men too should not endure it too . They should leave when they can. However people stay for different reasons. I know a woman who was verbally and physically abused by her husband for years however she bore it all cos of her daughters. Her impression was that she doesn't want anyone who will marry her daughters to see them marrying into a broken home and she used her case to pray and counsel her daughters on the need to makethe right choice. Funny enough the husband was nice to his children and met all their needs and educated them to the highest level.I dont support this type of endurance cos she could have died in between or get an incurable disease cos the man was also cheating. Long story short, the moment her last daughter got married, she left her husband the same week. Different people have different reasons they do what they do |
How come the Nigerian High commission in Canada has a different reason on their website.

It will be interesting to see if he will replace Abba Kyari the late chief of staff as part of the NNPC Board. His relationship with the NSA will also be one to watch out for and finally how will he relate with Aisha . His CV is rich, I hope he has the mental discipline to perform . Here is a prayer for him to be loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not just to be loyal to the "Presidency". |
Like I said In a previous thread : When pastors speak of current happenings of COVID-19, I always want to know if it's the Holy spirit that ministered to them or if they are speaking from their own research based on their own understanding. If it's the Holy spirit, then let us have them on record because the holy spirit I know is accurate and doesn't commit errors. If it's research based however based on their carnal knowledge, then I think we should actually leave it for the experts in that field and those are the ones we should listen to when it comes to pure scientific research instead of Google researchers who just cherry pick and patch up information |

Goovo:For your info npower has gulped over 150 billion naira . We need institutional things that will stand the test of time not tokenism for a minority. If the 150 billion was used to build additional hospitals ; one day myself or your self will access the hospital. It's institutional and will last for generations. If the billions for npower was used by the FG to directly intervene in public primary schools by equipping them, paying teachers well and good teaching environment, then maybe one day myself and yourself can then send our children to public primary schools ; that's institutional. However FG will say primary school is under local government so they won't do that however they have no problems spending 500 million naira daily on primary school feeding program. As a nation now, we need long lasting institutions and not tokenism. Millions of children will lose their futures forever because of poor or no education. Thousands have died due to poor health system. I personally don't know anyone who would have died if there was no npower or no surep or no youwin . Even those that collect conditional cash transfer, can it send their children to school ? Can it pay for adequate health care if it even exists ? Would you rather prefer an excellent public primary school your child can attend for free or 20,000 naira ? What if you have three children ? We need institutional investments not tokenism . I had to be thorough in my response so you understand where I'm coming from . |
I've never been support of all these kind of schemes. From sure p to npower to conditional cash transfer. All these schemes have gulped hundreds of billions yet nothing really changes. These schemes are supposed to be like the icing on the cake; an additional incentive to development efforts that touches people's lives directly. But in the case if Nigeria, we spend 70 percent on the icing and 30 percent on the cake. And in both scenarios, corruption eats into both efforts of the cake and icing . It's a sad situation |
Just imagine only 20 people in computer village or Alaba Market or Apapa having the COVID-19 with or without showing symptoms. It will spread like wild fire. Easing the lockdown is necessary but some people would not be disciplined enough to use gloves of masks or maintain social distancing. That's the worry. On the long run , Lagos state government will run out of beds and people will be left with their immune system to fight for them in their houses or die. I think the government should start accrediting private hospitals that want to act as isolation centres for a fee so that the government isolation centres won't be overrun . Alternatively, government can pay the private hospitals accredited to act as isolation centres so that there's no cost for the patient. If not, people will struggle . |

Those living in Sango and Mowe Ibafo both of which are in Ogun State and work in Lagos won't be allowed to go to work but those who live and work in Lagos for the same company as those living in Sango will be allowed ? Interesting times ahead. How i wish The President could be doing this address on Sundays and not on the day the lockdown ends |
Nauttyprof:Are you saying that CAC allowing all this people and water containers in the tomb of a dead man is biblical ? Praying at the tomb of babalola is biblical ? CAC is a great church and I know and recognise the great grace in the church but we need to correct wrong doings . We shouldn't say this is just a small wrong doing. We should condemn it . CAC members pray in churches and mountains which I have no problem with. But when Abiara dies or the late obadare, then another set will go to his tomb and be praying there ?
|
Nauttyprof:Okay. God said... Please sir can you confirm if it's biblical to pray with God of Prophet Hezekiah the current CAC general evangelist and God of Abiara in the same context you referred to God of Abraham,Isaac and Jacob ? Can you confirm if it happens that church members pray with Olorun Hezekiah and Olorun Abiara ? I am not criticizing. We are shedding light to better know and worship God in spirit and truth . The truth is key. About the mko abiola stadium comparison to naming revivals at babalolas tomb, I reserve my comment . However, how many other churches in the whole world do you know that do the revivals and label it with the tomb of their founders ? For example, Baba Adeboye doing revival at the area of Pa Akindayomis tomb ? Any similar examples we can draw from? I leave you with pictures of CAC encouraging people to pray at the tomb of babalola. This is from a thread on nairaland here.https://www.nairaland.com/5125417/collins-visit-babalolas-tomb-mountain Is this biblical ? Should this be allowed? Can you see all the water containers at a dead man's tomb praying for blessings ? This is idolatry
|
seunayantokun:You have made a lot of valid points which I agree.however please visit this link on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIERvnXdEIg It is a video by the new General Evangelist of CAC who succeeded Abiara. His name is Prophet Hezekiah and on his YouTube page, he wrote it there clearly that Revival on babalolas tomb at Efon Alaye.whats the role of adding babalolas tomb to the caption if not idolatry from the General Evangelist ? You can also check prophet Sam olu alos page on YouTube and see him doing several revivals at babalolas tomb as he captioned it; does babalolas tomb have more power to answer prayers or is it a " marketing gimmick" ?. Prophet Alo is closely affiliated with Prophet Hezekiah the general evangelist of CAC. These are senior figures in CAC . Can you confirm if that's idolatry or not ? In your words you said :Praying to him, holding crusades at his tomb and using his posters for protection are manifestations of the spirit of error. These actions are done by some senior CAC leaders. I understand what you mean by covenant and your explanation is detailed. However, I have gone to churches and if for example the name of the pastor of that local CAC church is sofowora, you hear people praying first with olorun babalola then with olorun sofowora. Sofowora may not have the genuine calling or covenant that babalola had, however some just follow the precedence without having a deep spiritual understanding of what they are doing . There has also been cases of people praying with Olorun Hezekiah who is the current evangelist and Olorun Abiara the previous evangelist. The funny thing is the current and previous general Evangelist just let it fly and don't correct people praying with their names . So it's not as if I don't understand your explanation but it's been abused and peopl are getting lost. I'm a Christian and I believe Jesus is the only way not doing revivals at a dead man's tomb however great the grace of God was on the man when he was alive . I learnt a lot from your explanation nevertheless. That's the point of engaging in such conversation; to learn . Thanks |
Him, Emmanuel Omotunde Omoniyi and Daniel Orekoya were mightily used by God. The issue I have with some of his followers is the extent they now practice idolatry using babalola. Some even hold crusades at his tomb. Some put his posters on their cars for protection. All sorts , Jesus is the only way; Jesus is our teacher. Babalola is like class representative or class captains in schools, they too will write exam and be judged so we shouldn't encourage idolatry and focus on our teacher, Jesus. |
Flakkydagirl:Long time no see ma. Thanks for the excellent writing of My Husband in the Literature section. One of the best I've ever read here on nairaland or anywhere else |
Being poor is multidimensional and not limited to food alone and can be analysed different ways. I want to focus on Security, Health, Education and Food Security. All these things are elitist. If you are a VIP or a multimillionaire, just go and see your DPO and he can give you two police men to be following you around. We see it everywhere. The police is poorly trained and poorly paid and has poor investigation mechanism and structures. First role of government is securing life and property but even that they have failed and we are all victims . If you are a VIP again , you will have access to the best hospitals and not the government rubbish ones . Even some government hospitals have private wards for VIP and rich patients and those ones are treated so highly that you won't believe that it's the same hospital. In a developed nation , health is key but here even the president runs to London when he has a health crisis. Even the middle class is not spared in the poor nature of the health sector. Education is a tragedy. No one that has a choice will send their children to a public primary school which is the foundation. In developed nations , public primary education is the rule while private primary education is the exception while in Nigeria it is the other way around . However FG will say the school feeding program that gulps 600 million naira daily has been a success and that primary school education is not under the FG ; in other words we can feed them but we can't equip their classrooms or pay their teachers because it's not our job. And the rot is all the way to tertiary level. With the exception of Lagos Business school, no MBA program in Nigeria meets international standards of any of AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. It's all poor. Food security is in shambles. Why is it so expensive to transport food from Kano to Lagos ? No one has been able to answer this question. Why are incentives not given to food production and processing companies so that we all benefit one way or the other ? It's beyond me . Nigeria is a clueless nation . When they came with surep and you win , I said nothing will change and that it will only set a dangerous precedence. Then they came again with npower , trade moni and cash transfer. Yet another misplaced priority. This schemes are supposed to be the icing on the cake; Additional initiatives to a core initiative. However there is little or no cake. Nigeria is spending more on icing than the main cake . We spend so much on helping the poor with tokenism while neglecting the core of Security,Health, Education and Food Security. At the end of the day, we are all poor including the elites and the rich. We never know when we will be victims of this poor system. When a wayward and poor policeman may out of frustration kill a family relation, when a niece may be rushed to a teaching hospital with pregnancy complications and the doctor on call will be in his own private hospital , when the children we refused to educate will kidnap us and when lack of standards will result to us consuming poisoned beans in our mansions . In the end , being rich and living in a poor system means we are all poor . This rot is not limited to the Federal Government. State Governors are even worse and if I use Lagos state as a case study, we won't leave here today. God help Nigeria. |
decatalyst:In a Nigerian home, the slap will not be the main course; the slap will be a warm up to the main beating and brushing . Slap is just a side dish. If he was my son though, will just send him to a college of music or a music academy and make him intern in different fields in the music industry from marketing to research to production etc. Some people are slow learners but thrive in something else such as art or music. |
kikero:How many African players did Sir Alex turn to great players ? How many Africans did sir Alex even sign in his time ? I am an arsenal fan but even though money was a major factor for choosing Chelsea, Chelsea was a safer option and he went on to win everything with Chelsea playing crucial roles in some seasons they won things . Quinton Fortune is probably the most successful African to play for United and even he was bang average. In the last twenty years only six Africans have signed and played for Manchester United and almost all of them were flops . |
Same age as David Luiz who also turns 33 today. Mikel is a legend and I wish him and his family the very best . |
Nigeria is Gone. Katsina, home state of Mr President has the highest. Paddy Paddy Government. Fela sang about this over 30 years ago and same still happening |
eniolaamos7:Grew up in CCC and the song is one I've been singing from when I was very young till date. |
Sola Allyson - Ebe Sola Allyson - Oro Oluwa Ayo Ni O - Ore Otito entire album. BRO BRO CCC - Oluwa Iwo ni Apata Mi These songs take me to another realm. Ebe is a solemn cry for mercy and grace of God. Oro Oluwa gives assurance that the will of God upon our life will come to pass no matter our current situation. Ore Otito album is just an excellent album that touches the spirit in pure and undiluted praise. And finally, Oluwa Iwo ni Apata mi is one song that feeds my soul. If you understand Yoruba, I encourage you to listen to these four songs and meditate with them. God bless you . |
This 7153 samples tested so far is not clear. Are they referring to testing 7153 samples or 7153 individuals. For example an individual can test positive and then get tested again after treatment of symptoms and test negative. That indicates that two samples will be collected from the same individual. In other words that's two sample tests but one individual. The main question now is can the NCDC confirm that the 7153 tests refers to 7153 individuals and not samples ? And if the 7153 tests refers to samples not individuals can they at least release the figures for numbers of individuals they have actually tested? Sissy3, Dominique |
The FG should give priority to Lagos and Ogun in the National Cash Transfer scheme. States that are not under lockdown are being given priority. When the economic livelihood of Lagos,FCT and Ogun have been suspended,it's only natural that these three locations should be given the highest priority in cash disbursement before these other states. Lagos state also has the highest population and In between the Island, Apapa, Ikeja and Alimosho, that's a lot of economic activities that has been shut down. These locations alone has more economic activities than some five states combined. They should be given priority over Katsina for example. When that of locked down states are sorted then you can move to other states not underr lockdown not the other way around. That's a failure of Government. The methodology the government is using to share the food is also not clear. Same with the cash transfer. It's not transparent enough. The local government should be involved as they are closer to the people and there has to be a verifiable register of people who have benefited for audit purposes. The idea that names of people that collect these palliative will not be released because it will embarrass them is not convincing. If you are not embarrassed to queue and take money/food and have your pictures taken for the entire world to see, how can you then be embarrassed for your name to be released for audit purposes as a beneficiary? This is a failure of Governance. The processes and methodology used is not good enough. All in All, we as a people need to also help. Government can't do it alone. No matter how small, touch people's lives during these trying period. A cup of rice or beans is not too small. People are going through a lot . God help us all and God bless Nigeria.

I followed the other thread and this. Both have some valid points. However where this OP said there is loneliness everywhere regardless of location is not really correct. Nigeria is more communal. I stayed in the UK and even though I had family there, I didn't like the lifestyle. In Nigeria, you can be lonely but the environment of Nigeria gives you more opportunities to meet people. The endless parties and weddings in Lagos, the after work hangouts , so many churches and generally visiting and checking up on friends and family. Thus even though so many people in Nigeria also feel lonely, the opportunities and wide pool for them to meet people in Lagos or Nigeria is way wider than that of Canada. Amazing that the op has a YouTube channel; the other OP talk am o. Another reason as someone said only few Nigerian women I have met in my life time will marry someone lower in class to them until desperation sets in then you get anywhere belle face. This is applicable anywhere in the world they are. When I was in the UK, a fine white lady working in KPMG was dating someone who has just A levels and working in Tesco stacking shelves. They don't care about materialism and they got married . That's the rule but in Naija case it is the exception. Where I agree with this OP is men too are lonely there and get caught up in the system which also forces them to make wrong anywhere belle face choices . However I think it's a sympathetic situation. My sister's friend in the US had to get hooked up to a guy in Nigeria and they are getting married this year . In her words, Atlanta men don cast. Lagos boys nko ? In the words of falz, have you ever been to Lagos ? Have you been with a guy from my city ? I kuku told my sister that's an anywhere belle face move. |

Good initiative. However I think we don't need to wait for more cases to restrict movement totally in Lagos. In the rush hour of tomorrow morning, it will be hard to enforce this. The reason I think we don't have enough cases yet is probably because only those with symptoms are being tested. Felliani the footballer got tested when he got to China without any symptoms and he yielded positive. I wish the authorities can give us data on how many tests has been conducted. We generally need to restrict movement. No sense closing schools and parties while companies and manufacturing and all government agencies remain open. Even the Lagos government staff bus carries well over 20 people at a time . Totally restrict movement now like in some cities in UK and USA. That will at least curb the spread. Don't wait for higher figures. Even India has a 14 hour curfew. |
I can't knock someone if he's qualified but I'm worried about precedence. If all the major revenue generating agencies are headed by northerners then it's a cause for worry. FIRS,NNPC,CUSTOMS(these big three each generate trillions of naira annually), PPPRA,DPR, NPA , NCAA, FAAN,NIMASA. Even the minister of finance is a northerner. With exception of the CBN governor who is from the south and CBN is not really a revenue generating agency, I don't know any major person from the south heading a major revenue generating agency. If they are the best hands for the positions no problem. But come 2023 if an emeka or seun or bassey becomes president and fills southerners with these same positions, I just hope it won't raise eye brows. |
