The price of oil market favoured Nigeria during the 16 years of PDP rule and yet pdp still went ahead to borrow such amount of money . Look at countries like dubai and Saudi. These countries made good use of market price of oil to develop their various countries and see where there are today. The development started a long time ago and not now. Land use charge, we didn't hear anything from Agbaje. Vision scape rubbish Agbaje was silent. Traffic and portholes, nothing from Agbaje. Between 2011 and 2015, Buhari even with his limitations was still a critic of PDP. With the exception of running for PDP chairmanship,I've not heard anything from Jimi till this very moment that he's decided to contest again. I wish he has been vibrant all the way since 2015 in contributing to the issues average lagosians face. I wish him the best. How I wish he was vibrant since 2015. It would have been easy to send the tinubu Cabal packing. It's still possible but a little hard. Imagine if Jimi Agbaje had led protests against the land use charge increase and the vision scape scam. Lagosians wouldn't have forgotten that. Better late than never

Lagos Is A NO MAN'S LAND

Will tell you like I told two people yesterday on this forum:
The thing is my mum is from Lagos. Lagos Island to be precise. She can trace four generations back to her family house in Lagos Island. The history of Lagos from the period of the aworis showed that yorubas dominated the landscape prior to the Oba of Benin expedition. Every Oba of Lagos has been yoruba. Historically, yorubas have been the dominant tribe in Lagos even before Nigeria became a Nation.

Saying that Lagos is a melting point for everyone is acceptable. After all it is the commercial capital of Nigeria and so many tribes have lived their entire life here which is why its a melting point. London is another classic example as the curent Mayor of London is of Pakistani Origin. Look at the way Nigerians are moving to Canada for better opportunities in droves. Canada is also becoming a melting point.

I cant imagine the Mayor of London now saying simply because he is of pakistani origin, London is now a no mans land. Or, the millions of Nigerians and Africans who have left for Canada should now turn back and say that Canada is a no mans land simply because maybe one Nkechi Adebunmi is now Prime Minister of Canada.

The thing is when you say Lagos is a no mans land, you actually attempt to diminish the cultural ties that generations have had in Lagos prior to migration. Based on almost every known record, yorubas were the orignial settlers in Lagos. If I now move to Enugu or Kano and i am popular in my community there and i speak the language and i win a seat in the house of reps there, can i then also turn arround and say Enugu or Kano is no mans Land ?

Lagos is a melting point. You can say you are also a Lagosian. It can be our land together if you want but to say its a no mans land in the context you say is offensive/insensitive to say the least.

I can testify to the removal of ganiyu Johnson the former commissioner of works. You can read hisprofile. This man is a thorough engineer and very good. He was the brain behind the Berger project design and the various laybys we saw in the beginning of Ambodes regime. The guy was very good as an engineer and planner but ambode for some reason got rid of him

If you live in Lagos and you understand that between 2015 till date ,Ambode has had a budget of 2.47 trillion naira, then you will understand that the development hasnt matched the budget. Yesterday,the traffic from ikorodu to ketu a journey of about 15 minutes took about 2 hours simply because of a bad patch of the road in ketu that the government has refused to fix for the past few weeks. Everytime it rains the bad patch gets worse. Yet the lasg are doing nothing. So much hardship. The traffic gets worse when it rains. I hope someone in government sees this and takes steps to reduce the suffering

In a way the PSP model was made up of Local private Investors. Most of the loading centres fashola constructed for LAWMA were handed over to visionscape. LAWMA and the PSP were functional but not perfect. They used to come once a week, mondays to be specific to pick my dirt and they bring bill and i pay them at the end of the month.Nowadays, my dirt is picked up once in a month . Nothing wrong in making a local investor probably selected from the pool of PSPs to form a consortium from which they can then offer what visionscape is offering. Thats a more organic growth and it would not have disrupted the process that was functional under fashola.

Visionscape however on paper is a good plan, but the change management and the strategy of using foreign investors without giving first refusal to local investors is what led to the issues we have with waste management. Thats my opinion but i am open to yours as i am not an expert in this regards.

All is well, Please lets not loose sight. Even though i am not for Ambode, let is be known that Tinubu,Ambode and Sanwolu are all doing this for their personal interests and not for the interest of the masses.

As far as the masterplan is concerned, i can give you a good example where Ambode deviated from the Plan. Lamata is supposed to regulate the transport sector including BRT in Lagos while LASG is supposed to build infrastructure. The Ikorodu to TBS BRT corridor for example is regulated by LAMATA and the BRT lane was constructed by the Lagos State Government. A private company named Primero actually runs the airconditioned buses that move from Ikorodu to TBS to Ikorodu everyday. The private company is also responsible for the fueling, maintenance and employing of drivers. As the company is private, it can be adequately regulated by LAMATA.

Mr. Ambode to score points built a fantastic Ikeja Bus Terminal which is good but then went to use lagos state money to acquire the buses instead of letting private sector do the acquisition of buses. Ambode wants to use Lagos state money to buy 5000 buses for the bustops hes constructing. Whats wrong if seun of nairaland has money and wants to apply to buy 2000 buses for a particular route and LAMATA regulates seun ?Now Lagos state will be responsible for fueling the buses and maintenance and other things which will breed corruption. Also, Lagos state will be regulating itself as LAMATA who is the regulator will now be regulating Lagos state buses. Governments are not good in doing business.

May i also remind you guys that the Ikeja Bus terminal and the buses parked there was commissioned around March/April this year. This is almost six months later and my able governor is still building bustops to accommodate the buses he bought six months ago. What a visionary leader.

This is just one aspect under BRT where ambode deviated from what tinubu and fashola started. Imagine if we start going into each of the other sectors. I wish him the best. Clever of Tinubu not to mention ambodes name and sanwolus name in the press release. All the best to APC tomorrow.

Also Tinubu and his group imposed ambode. Ambode didnt work for it. We only voted for ambode after he was imposed. And now same group of people who imposed ambode said they dont want again. Someone who is already on the ground has nothing to lose again. What is his sin that the only seemingly performing APC governor in Nigeria is being frustrated. Ambode has exhausted all avenue he could to pacify Tinubu, but because Lagos politics is a one man stuff, Tinubu successfully turned everybody against Ambode for a yet to be disclosed sin. We did not hear complaints against Ambode until the build of this primary election, we are now being inundated with Ambode's awful performance. Muiz Banire(SAN) is one of Tinubus biggest critics and was until recently the national legal adviser of APC. Tinubu cannot control or dictate to banire and they dont see eye to eye. Please read the thread below to see how banire was thoroughly critical of Ambode:

Fashola has built his own support structure and even fashola was not tinubus first choice for ministeral nomination from lagos. Fashola as at today is his own man and doesnt answer to tinubu anymore. He has his own justice group in Lagos running the grassroorts politics. Why is Fashola not supporting Ambode but rather told his candidate Hamzat to step down for Sanwoolu.

If Fashola and Muiz Banire are not supporting ambode, it is because ambode is doing something wrong not because tinubu ordered them to withdraw support and so it goes for a lot of APC members.

All i am saying is that Ambode benefited from Godfatherism and shouldnt cry foul now.

Few points to be clear about:

In 2015 tinubu imposed Ambode who was fired by fashola to be governor. It was okay then for ambode to be imposed and suddenly not okay for him to be disposed by the same people.

In the 2015 primaries, supo shasore and hamzat didn't throw personal insults on Ambode despite Ambode having tinubus backing. Hamzat at least has been in Lagos alausa politics when ambode was still in the local government

Sanwaolu has never in any of his utterances insulted Ambode. Kwam 1 and some party leaders like baba Eto and muiz banire have been critical of Ambode but not sanwaolu

What decent human being uses ones health condition to fault him on national TV. Even people sympathetic to ambode have said the press conference is a new low which clearly shows he's not a politician. In 2011, a bunch of protesters stormed alausa to protest against tinubu to support fashola second term. You know what fashola did ? He went live on LTV immediately and told all parties to calm down and He praised tinubu and the party structure and promised to align with the party. Mind you that almost half of the party structure supported fashola but he never turned on tinubu or the party while albode cannot even boast 10 percent of support from the party.Same fashola that didn't support Ambodes candidature and even fired Ambode from his cabinet campaigned vigorously for ambode simply because he understood the party is supreme. This Ambode is throwing the party under the bus

Ambode is blackmailing the party by saying in his press conference that the only way Buhari can win Lagos is if he remains as governorship candidate. Ambode or no ambode, I as a person will not vote Buhari. Buhari has been demystified and is not the enigma he once was. Fashola was imposed. Ambode was imposed. Now sanwaolu imposed. Nothing new even though it's wrong

All in all, i have always said , tinubu is powerful but not that powerful such that 99 percent of the party structure is against ambode. Even fashola and muiz banire that are against tinubu in a way are not supporting Ambode. This press conference is a new low but I still wish him and his advisers/supporters all the best
