I have said it before and I will say it again. The best judge of this is when those who attend public and private universities meet on a level playing field. Every institution both public and private have smart students . Founders of paystack went to babcock for example. However we have to now determine if the empty brains he's referring to is an exception or the rule. Even in law school, private university graduates hold their own. So many private university graduates become ican chartered before the age of 21 and some even pass the CFA easily amidst other world renowned professional certificates in different fields. They also excel outside the country. What I however think this ASUU person is saying ia that private universities don't make it difficult enough for students to pass compared to public universities. That is why you go to some public universities and discover no one has graduated with first class in some departments for decades . Education is meant to be relevant not difficult . Thats why in some cases in the western world, open book exams are encouraged . With regards to the fees he mentioned , that is relative if the FG through its various means stops funding public universities for example, how much do you think they will charge for school fees ? Or do you think the 50k per year paid in public universities is what is used to run the school? 50k is about 120 dollars . How much do you think harvard and yale and the rest charge in dollars ? If you attend a public university, just know that you are on a major scholarship from the government . If Government stops funding the public universities, then we will know how far with fees. |

I have no issue with this project. However the whole grand 4th mainland being planned for years since 1999 to me is just a waste of time. It makes no sense that people can enter boat from ikorodu to cms, ikorodu to ajah and ikorodu to apapa and there's absolutely no way Lagos state can think of linking those routes via a bridge since 1999. Ikorodu to Island on water in some cases is less than 40 minutes and Bayeku in Ikorodu to Ajah is even shorter. Why can't they do that since 1999? With that you automatically have another way to link mainland and island or am I missing something sir naptu2 ? You can please give your opinion on your thread anytime cos I don't understand why its not being done . From Ikorodu to island by road you have to go through Ikorodu to Ketu then link oworo then third mainlanf bridge then island when there are places in ikorodu like bayeku that is extremely close to ajah and those small boats do ikorodu to island in 25 minutes and even faster in the case of bayeku to ajah. Some have even argued that the fear of doing the single bridge to link ikorodu to island is because of the negative effect it may have in real estate on the island. I dont just get it. |
Interesting result. I think whats going to determine united winning the league is their performance away against Arsenal,Spurs, wolves man City and Chelsea before the end of the season. And of course they must definitely get a result at home against Leicester and Liverpool. If they can overcome most of these matches then that will be good..however my money is on man City winning the league. City have sorted out their defence . They just need to sort out their attack..aguero and jesus have a combined two league goals. |

Lyoncrescent:Happy Sunday. My wife had a Miscarriage on the 21st of December,2019 and gave birth to a bouncing baby Girl on the 20th of December,2020. If not for the Leap year this year it would have been the same date. This forum has been good to me and i came here many times to read peoples experiences and seek opinions and it really helped me and my wife and i thus want to share my own experience to encourage someone. We had a miscariage last year December. It was a difficult period and that was our first child just three months after our wedding. My wife was shattered but we stayed strong and we prayed. The hospital we used then said we had to remove the fibroid before we try to concieve again and that because of the size of the fibroids if she tried to get pregnant again without removing it, it would be difficult. The bill to remove the fibroid from one new modern hospital near omole phase one was 920k. My wife was not in the mood for any operation. Luckily, we had a trip to cape verde planned out with family January this year and that helped her recover mentally as she was also surrounded by family and when we got back home to Nigeria, we decided not to do the operation and life resumed as normal as we could. Fast forward to lock down, we had more time to spend together and she got pregnant again. We confirmed it by May this year. First problem we had was which hospital to go to. We tried two private hospitals and they said the pregnancy is high risk because of short cervix, previous miscarriage and multiple fibroids. We also considered Ayinke House. My mum through a close family friend recommended a doctor who works at the General Hospital Ijede ,Ikorodu to us. I was initially skeptical because of what ive heard about Government hospitals. If you read my quote above you will see my experience with the Government Hospital and also the quote i got from a private hospital for cerclage. They said she needs it and we did it at the General Hospital. I am grateful also to this forum because i was considering doing the cerclage at the private hospital but i was encouraged to try Government and it was successful. Doctor at the General hospital also demanded complete and absolute bed rest. My wife resigned her job and only time she went out during the pregnancy was to visit the hospital. She was home all through resting. I also supported her and ensured she still earned what she would have earned while she was working to ensure her happiness. The pregnancy's journey after the cerclage was better than the doctor at the General Hospital expected. My wife had absolutely no pain and no bleeding from the Fibroid. However her PCV at a point was 25 and a week before delivery was 26.4 . At 26 weeks the baby was in breech position and the placenta was low lying . However by 28 weeks when we went for scan, the placenta was no longer low lying and the baby was now in cephalic presentation and remained so till delivery. It was funny because they kept on repeating the ultrasound and i was scared that something was wrong. Nevertheless, we didnt stop praying and hoping for the best . I also stopped praying for the fibroid to disappear. My prayer was that in spite of the fibroid, God will make a way for my wife and our baby. She started feeling pain 39 weeks. Contraction. we got to hospital, they said she was 4cm wide. Over four hours, it became 8cm. Prior to now the doctor was worried that she might have to have an operation however we prayed that GODs will should be done. I have also attached the sizes of the fibroid at 38 weeks so you see what we were working with. An hour after the 8cm, she was fully ready and delivered a baby girl through vaginal delivery at 3.3 Kg. The doctor didnt expect that size given the size of the fibroids. I was allowed in the Favour room during the delivery process and i must say i respect women even more than ever. Its not easy . All women are Heroes. All in All, i thank everyone who shared their story on this forum it was really helpful. I particularly remember the different things such as Garden egg leaf that was recommended to me here to combat the low PCV. I am grateful. For me health care is physical, mental and spiritual. We prayed, we listened to the doctor and we had faith that our baby will be born. Our theme verse which we saw on the wall of the first private hospital we went this year helped us a lot in prayers and building our faith. Miscarriage is not easy and i saw how it shattered my wife with midnight cries and her being lost in thought. However almost exactly one year later, she's joyous. Please stay strong and believe. All will be well and it will end in praise. Exodus 23.26 New International Version ...and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span. New Living Translation There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives. God Bless you All. Amen

Story. There have been so many reports on police reform and there was a presidential panel on sars reform last year. Not one of these reports or reforms have been implemented and our IG hurriedly created SWAT |
Happy birthday naptu2. I have learnt a lot from many of your Nigerian historical posts.Your thoughts on coups and siting of military institutions in the North was particularly educative to me .Thank you for your efforts and have a great day.i wish you Long life and Good health . |
Story. We may sack all the sars and all the police men in fact and recruit new ones. However with this salary structure below showing monthly earnings, even a pastor and imam will act irrationally and collect bribe . I think the structure below was increased but i don't know if the government has started paying. We need to end sars and reform the police but politicians are also the problem. Three classes of people who shouldn't be paid anything less than 200k entry level: Teachers, Health workers and Security Operatives. There's enough money to pay but the politicians are thieves hence public schools, public hospitals and the police will continue to fail. What I don't understand is what is a response squad doing harassing people on the street. They should only be seen whenever there is a robbery they are responding to or am I missing something? |
Pearl05:Thank you very much. I am grateful |
Naslow08:Thank you. Noted. the Dedeon HB 12 Syrup actually has a warning for pregnant women and said to consult physician before use. However the doctor already said its okay to use which is also same thing you are saying so its fine. |
sugah:Okay. Thank you very much. I am grateful |
Pearl05:Thank you. Please the Garden eggs leaves and ugwu leaves, will it be prepared like vegetable soup with all the other ingredients or will it be eaten raw ? |
sugah:Thank you for your response. I've gotten her the blood tonic. I'm still using the same hospital. She was on pregnacare max only prior to now. She was feeling weak and dizzy which is why we did the test. However the baby is doing fine and growing well. The garden egg leaves, will she eat it raw or will it be prepared as a soup ? |
Good morning everyone, Please I need advice. My wife has a low PCV of 26 and also has malaria based on blood test. The doctor recommended Lonart for the malaria and Dedeon HB 12 Syrup blood tonic . I saw online that that blood tonic shouldn't be taken during pregnancy but the doctor said it's okay . She's in the third trimester. I also want to confirm if there are specific foods she can be eating to boost her PCV. I've checked online for some but I will be glad if people in this forum can share their experiences and ideas. Thank you . |

Funny thing is six nights in an excellent resort in Cape Verde such as melia llana will probably be cheaper than this so called beach. If you don't know please Google melia llana and see what I'm talking about plus it's all inclusive o with buffet meals three times a day. Lagos ehn, overrated and expensive. Also when you visit other African resorts in Kenya, cape Verde , Mauritius etc , it's not just the beaches that matters but the service and other tourist attractions. In this ilashe case, service will probably be not as good and you will be stuck in doors. Ladies and Gentlemen, after covid if you want vacation, consider other beach resorts in Africa or outside Africa as your pockets fits. If it's even weekend, move out even if it's Ghana you can afford. Move. |
Most things in Lagos are not value for money |
naptu2:Hi, sorry I had to ambush you here and permission to deviate from the topic to the OP and the mods. There's something that has been troubling my mind for a while now and I've tried to analyse it with some friends. If you have time please you can reply on your diary if you need be as I am following you. My hypothesis is that the university of Ibadan being the first university in Nigeria put the vision of Knowledge is Power to eventually benefit Nigeria maybe the southerners more to emerge as future leaders . However as seen in Nigeria, Power is Power. The location of most of the military training schools in the north now appears to have been a strategic move by the North. Because looking at it now, 16 years of our 23 years democracy have been ruled by men of Power in a way not knowledge. I also want to know if this strategy played a key role in the coups. Yakubu Gowon grew up in Zaria even though from Plateau, Murtala Mohammed, Buhari, IBB and Abacha all benefited from coups with only Ironsi and Obasanjo from the south who both somewhat stumbled into leadership positions. I want your analysis on this whether the location of the military training schools in the north helped in this regards of more northern officers benefiting from coups. Do we then say in the Nigerian situation at least on a federal level so far in the discourse that power is power or knowledge is power and could the northern leaders have been strategic to know which to go for or its just a coincidence that things turned out the way they did Can we sufficiently conclude that if there were at least two major military training institutions with one in the north and another in the south, the coups may not have benefitted mostly northern officers ? The babafemi ogundipe scenario that played out, would that gave been avoided he was a northerner ? |
sugah:Thank you |
Late Henry boyo said this in a different variant many times but nothing was done. You can search for some of his views on YouTube or punch newspaper |
Nigeria is just a funny country. Nigeria has over 200 MDAs and many other federal institutions from universities to hospitals. There is grand corruption everywhere however I often ask the question, how come the holes are never blocked ? This people would be investigated and probably sacked and no one will think of how to block the loophole that allowed them embezzle in the first place and apply the blocking of the loop hole across board. The TSA was a good place to start but the weakness of procurement processes and the paper driven nature of the processes of Government makes it difficult to stop corruption. Procurement fraud is happening in almost every government MDA . Kemi Adeosun tried to do something by creating the efficiency unit. She discovered for example that one ministry can buy their own roll of A4 paper for 3000 naira as an example while another MDA will buy the same type for triple that amount. And it's like that till now. Unless we sit up and start studying these loop holes that allows embezzlement and apply the blocking across board then no hope. However who will bell the cat ? The people that will be part of the committee to investigate and block the hole are also looking for their own cut or leaving the hole there so that one day they will also attain the same position and loot from the same loop hole. |
Good evening , please don't anyone know any remedy to reduce the pain for external Hemorrhoids ? My wife has it and she's pregnant. Doctor said she should take vegetables, drink water and she has been using anusol ointment but she's been in discomfort all day. Please does any one have any suggestions ? |
They came to disrupt the market but the Lagos state government policy on okada put them in coma and the Corona pandemic killed them. It's sad but such is the life of start ups . I personally think they were coming up too fast and hit a brick wall rather than let things grow organically. |
Good Morning, I found this interesting documentary done by Onyeka Onwenu for the BBC on Nigeria in 1983 and released in 1984 I think . It's very interesting that some things that happened 37 years ago are still going on now. It is also sad that you can just remove the 1983 date and replace with 2020. Some of the highlights are listed below : 1. Chinua Achebe discussing federal character and compromise candidate 2. Companies complaining of high over head costs due to them supplying their own electricity and water among other things 3. Significant corruption in Government with the Nigeria airways and customs highlighted. Individual corruption in ministries was also highlighted. 4. How Lagos is a frustrating city and full of traffic 5. Even the police wasn't left out 6. Niger Delta agitation Please watch and let leave our comments. If after 37 years and nothing has gotten better really and it poses the question is there hope for Nigeria ? Chinua Achebe in the documentary said he had hope then but should we also be positive. Finally, it is worthy of note that when the documentary was made in 1983 , Shagari was in power and I think during the editing phase President Buhari had toppled the Shagari government and came into power because it was mentioned in the documentary. Kobojunkie:Interesting questions but can't type. If you want a debate I'm game not to win or loose but for learning. It can be on zoom or anywhere you want. Can't type anyone |
tomdon:If your work experience is with government or with a recognised institution then yes you can. However based on calculation, entry level of bsc is level 8 so for level 13, you need 12 years post nysc experience. |
