Crime › Re: Notorious Land Grabber And Hired Killer Arrested In Lagos by LZAA: 1:34pm On Jun 25, 2019
Lizzysamuel:
The Lagos state police command have arrested a Notorious Land grabber/Hired killer, Ojo Adesola.

A statement from the command's public relations officer, Bala Elkana, says on Friday June 21st at about 7.00am, a surveillance patrol team from Alagbado Police Station acting on a tip off, arrested Ojo while conveying arms in a white bus, along Amikanle area, Alagbado. .

Four locally made rifles and thirty eight rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the bus.

Bala in his statement said the 45-year-old suspect who hails from Ogun state, belongs to a notorious gang of land grabbers and hired killers, terrorizing Ogun and Lagos states.

They act as war lords, waiting to be hired by anyone who can pay for their services to take over lands by force. They engaged in series of killings and maiming of land owners'' Bala said
According to the suspect,  they were hired by someone to dislodge land owners at Epe and that he was on his way to pick the other members of the gang for the operation, before he was arrested.

The police spokesperson said the command is on the trail of five other members of his gang who are at large.

greggng:
You are not correct. Adams oshomole signed death warrant for 5 death row inmate .4 of them where executed by hangman from Ghana. The last one was not executed cos his trial was during military regime and firing squad was the order of the day by then. There should be a review to ascertain if is proper to hang such a person under our current law. Recall , Oshomole was compelled to sign the warrant cos of the crime rate in Edo state especially kidnapping. I won't be surprise if Dickson signs it so soon. That will serve as a deterrent

No, it's not. Do you know the kind of trauma the victims go through?

I think we need to extend the death penalty to even financial-related crimes.

China wouldn't be where it is today, if not for death penalty.

Death penalty is good, provided innocent ones will not be killed and everyone will be equal before the law.

Cant remember the last time death warrants were signed in nigeria
The last executions here was during abacha's rule when otokoto 6 faced firing squad
We need to amend our laws tho
Death sentence for kidnapping THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE DEATH is too harsh
A long jail time should be enough

Even Tinubu they call names dont get 28% of revenue collected. How can one collect 28% and still refused to remit 72%? Why did pdp government allowed it in the first instance? Why was it not done like lagos state where individual share of revenue is done at source and no one needs to settle the other. And this man wants to govern Nigeria - then, Obasanjo may be right on his comments regarding him
What is 28% when he can get 95% from that overpopulated slum
Heck he even picks who governs that slum

Politics › Re: 2019 Election: EU, NDI, IRI Interfering In What Is None Of Their Business– Sagay by LZAA: 9:01am On Jun 23, 2019
tactius:
The simple fact is that elections can only be free and fair in Nigeria if Nigerians want them to be free and fair.

The problem is, our economy is too dependent on government patronage to survive...worsened by the fact that Nigerians don't realise that resources are limited....so whoever holds the reins of government holds the means to dole out cash

Most of the people complaining against Buhari winning on the grounds of rigging (and for that matter, those who complained against PDP victories in the past) are doing so because they are angry at losing out of the distribution of goodies. Witness people saying, for example that Igbos have lost out by not voting Buhari. The truth is, what such people mean is that their own side has lost out on a chance to get access to scarce resources at the center...which they can distribute to their loyalists.

And that's why I don't support restrcturing at all. It is just painiting up a dirty house without cleaning it.

The only way forward is to sort out the econonmy by removing subsides and attracting foreign investors , especially in our power and peroleum sector. That way, in theory...people would vote for the government that keeps things running well enough for them...because if they don't...the investment dries up, and the jobs dry up. It is because of our so called welfare system based on a limted resources pot that is driving all the tribal based fights over who owns oil or whatever.

MODIFIED

To clarify, the less dependent people of a coutry are on government patronage for survival, the more successful the democracy would be. A good thing about capitalism is that investment drives development, and leaves the government as a facilitator of development, as well as reaping enough revenue to sustain some welfare policies.

Unfortunately in Nigeria, we run a 'share the money' government. Based on an oil output of 2.5m barrels per day that isn't enough for 200m people. Cutting subsides, and allowing foreign investment may leave the government with enough savings for things like educaiton , health....and reduce the tribal based figithing over who gets how much.
Igbos have never and will never depend on FG for any single thing
If any thing the FG has continuously deprived d igbos of federal presence yet they keep excelling
Back to restructuring,i'll advise u read up on it cuz i doubt u understand wat it means

The whole country is suffering including those that voted massively for Buhari. When Orji Uzo Kalu was in the PDP and igbos voted massively for the PDP, how did he make the igbos enjoy?!

Meanwhile, we have discarded Federal Character just because some sections "voted massively " for the APC but the same sections have failed woefully in JAMB and common entrance, Federal Character is back!
