Dude go and rewatch Putin's speech before the invasion. If you do still believe this invasion was anything short of overthrowing Zelensky then I have an airport to sell to you.
If the aim was to overthrow Zelensky then Kiev will be in ruins and all mechanisms of government will have been destroyed.

Putin before the commencement of the special military operation never mentioned an overthrow of Zelensky.

Putin's speech announcing the commencement of the operation never mentioned overthrowing Zelensky.

Putin's comments on the 3rd day of the operation when speaking to the Russian Security Council called on the Ukrainian military to overthrow Zelensky as he preferred to negotiate with the military rather with Ukraine's "drunk and drug addicted" President. According to Putin, he wanted to avoid bloodshed hence the call for the military to take over and then lead negotiations.

Two days ago, when Dmitry Peskov spoke with Amanpour on CNN, he said that the goal is not to overthrow Zelensky but reaffirmed that it was to demilitarise and denazify Ukraine.

These are facts. If you want to disprove, then show me where he made calls for overthrow of Zelensky before the operation commenced.

There is a black mayor in Russia. A documentary was made about him and it is somewhere in Youtube.
Foreign AffairsRe: Ketanji J Brown: Can A Black Be President In Russia Or China? by mach7(m): 10:03pm On Mar 25, 2022
There is something that needs to be understood here, and that is Russia and China never had dealings with Africa or the black race as compared to Western Europe and the Americas.

Hence, looking at it from this perspective it is clear that integration of blacks into their societies isn't going to be same and it isn't necessarily because they are racist.

Blacks have been in the US, since the 1700s at the height of the slave trade, that is more than 300 years of integration. Russia or rather the Soviet Union before it only got exposed to the black race in the 1950s -1970s during the colonial period, when it is was funding and suporting anti-colonial movements all over Africa. Also, even despite this contact, Africans rarely emigrate to the Soviet Union/Russia due to language divide and climate. Africa is majorly made of up either French speaking or English speaking countries due to the continent being majorly colonised by France and the UK. So emigration/integration will be oriented more towards France or US/UK.

This is even worse for China who didn't even contact Africa until the late 1990s when they started opening up to the outside world. Moreso, they neither colonized Africa nor are there any language connections between China and Africa.

Hence, you can't compare and expect blacks to have a foothold in the Russian or Chinese society when the connections is either minimal or non-existent.

Do you remember that In his DECLARATION OF WAR speech to the nation on February 24, Putin set out the objectives of his “special operation”. His objectives were to “strive for the demilitarisation and de-nazifification of Ukraine”. The Russian president spoke of creating “the necessary conditions … despite the presence of state borders, to strengthen us … as a whole”.

Please from your analysis, tell us how Putin has been able to achieve any of the two objectives set above. Kindly tell us, going by his over-estimation of his conventional capabilities, how he has been able to achieve any of his original objectives.

Cheers.
If from my post, you are unable to deduce this then I can't help you. The Nazis are majorly in Mariupol and they are being decimated with over 80% of the city liberated including all the administrative buildings. As for demilitarisation, the results are obvious if you are following the events independently.

Now, if you don't understand the difference between Strategic objectives as espoused by the president and operational objectives which are achieved day to day by the military, then sorry to you.

Modified: He never declared WAR. Don't spread falsehood.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia: We Have Achieved Our Objective In Ukraine by mach7(m):
Some people have been confused with the plethora of fake news being churned out by the West, and this has inhibited them from seeing the bigger picture.

The major goal of the operation at the first stage was to free the Donbass and recapture its territory, reestablish water supply to Crimea, destroy the military capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and prevent the ability of the Ukrainians from creating a dirty bomb by seizing the Nuclear Power Plants. All of these have been achieved at least up to 90%.

The forces deployed North of Ukraine, in Kiev, Kharkov, Sumy and Chernigiv were used to tie down Ukrainian forces and prevent them from being able to provide reinforcements to the Donbass. Russian troops haven't assaulted those cities yet, they just surrounded them (or blocked them in Russian parlance). So news about Ukraine launching counter attacks on places that haven't been captured is just fake news for morale boosting.

The second phase based on how negotiations progress, will be to storm those cities mentioned above and seize it. Thus applying more pressure on Ukraine and it is forced to accede to Russia's terms.

Russia already controls two full regions of Ukraine, Zaporozhye and Kherson and this has enabled them to establish a land connection between Crimea, the Donbass and Russia itself.

Fake news.

It has become clear that the aim of the US is to psyche the Ukrainians with falsehoods to fight to the death.

For those who remember the Syrian campaign, this was the same tactics. Russia was failing, troops were dying, Russia wasn't able to hold territory. Some even predicted that Syria will become Russia's Afghanistan etc etc.

Look at Syria today, largely calm, Assad in FIRM control and the country is being rebuilt.

Father time will reveal all. the US and their Ukrainian puppets can continue to dance shamelessly in the market.

western intelligence is top notch guy, they have access to information, the same way you guys labelled all and information US gave out prior to the invasion as propaganda, but it happened eventually, even Russia denied planning to invade Ukraine
My comment is not to convince you as your opinion is already formed. However, please note that the operation in Ukraine commenced on February 24th and according to the Russians, it was started just a day before the Ukrainians themselves planned to start their operation for the recapture of Crimea and the Donbass.

The issue on Nairaland this days, is that we are just bombarded with one single source of information, which is the Western source.

Gradually, it is becoming clear why there was so much effort to ban Russian media outlets. This is so that "only one version of the truth" can be publicised.

This conflict will end, and the realities afterwards will be overwhelming divergent from what the Western media and their governments have been saying.

To round up, do consider one thing. If the Ukrainians are winning and the Russians are incompetent as claimed, why are the Ukrainians running from pillar to post begging for a no fly zone? Why is Biden currently in Europe to reassure his client states that their defense is assured?

All this falsehoods are just so that the Ukrainian morale remains high so that they can fight to the death. As far as the US/UK are concerned, the Ukrainians are expendable in their quest to weaken Russia.

am sure you didn’t read what I wrote , now I said Russia was open to the whole world in terms of export which is one of their major source but now it’s limited because they have few countries to deal with , now India will buy oil china will buy and the Mid East . But do you know that the capacity they will be buying because it’s a matter of “will be” it’s not as much as what Russia was exporting before and mind you oil is not the only Russia deals in . So in other words is still a major set back . Now another chapter to this china is careful not to jeopardize its relationship around the world because if they produce and people don’t buy it cripples dem as well , and if you don’t know during world war 1 most of the allies of the west e.g countries colonized by British , by France etc joined in the war , which I believe is inevitable in this case . See the sanctions will finish Russia if this lingers more than usual the cushion effect will only be for a while.
I read what you wrote. The mistake you made is saying "fewer countries to deal with". Please how many countries sanctioned Russia? All your other points don't warrant response. You need to learn the dynamics of trade.
Foreign AffairsRe: Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Sends 7000 Staff On Leave Amid Sanctions. by mach7(m): 10:26am On Mar 22, 2022
Guy, read more.
Russia sold oil to India at a discount, so as to increase its share in the Indian market.
Russia has a 30 years Oil and Gas contract with China and this will even be increased more.
Russia's space transport is dead? So that's why an American astronaut is scheduled to use it this March to return to the ISS? Do you know that Roscosmos has a full docket already for 2022 and even more orders for 2023 from the Russian Ministry of Defence? Which EU countries cancelled deals on Space Transport? Roscomos unilaterally pulled its Rockets and staff from cooperation with the ESA in French Guyana. They unilaterally pulled their deal with Oneweb after they have received money to transport 24 satellites. Instead, they are using the already purchased Rockets by Oneweb to lauch mini-satellites for Russian universities for free.
EU countries have always been buying weapons from Yankees. Russia has its own customers, so what is new here?
All other points are old news.
richeeyo:
Wrong
Russias export of oil is been sold at auction price not market price
Before the war Russia military export including China as declined significantly
With the war nor it would further reduce
Their space rocket transport market is dead due to the war, All EU countries has canceled deals with them, now American SpaceX would take over the work of the Russians
All EU countries are now buying advance weaponry from the yankees for more protection
Germany now buying f35 they previously don't want to
America as oil yes lot of oil (but people seems not to be aware)
But they reduce drilling due to this and that
But they would be exporting natural Gas to Europe
At the long run
Americans would gain more
And Russia would never be same
The reserve Putin was hoping on 650 billion
300 out of it as been frozen

Secondly, you should go and learn your synonyms again. Shrinking and Contracting are substitute words.

Increasing interest rate on government bonds is to make it more attractive to investors. Even the US Federal Reserve did same over the weekend.

i remember people saying why can’t Russia be like china that has all its stuff inward but what they don’t know is that same china generates largely it’s income from export . So Russia can’t export to everywhere but just few places which can never sustain their economy. If this sanctions hit harder than this Russia will be worse than third world countries.
Wrong. Russia's GDP based on PPP basis was $4.4trn in 2020/2021. The economy is forecast to contract by 7-8% due to the loss of non-oil revenue (lot of foreign companies have pulled out and loosing their taxes will impact on budget). But this will be cushioned by increase in Oil and Gas revenue to other markets (China, India, South East Asian countries). The Sanctions have already hit hard and the country is stabilizing.

Your comment on third world countries doesn't even need responding to.

The way some people think is quite amazing and honestly we Nigerians just look at the surface without looking deeply into issues.

Cutting 40% of the on-roll staff with 2/3 pay is necessary due to the reduced flights in and out of the country. Should all staff be on payroll when the income level to the Airport isn't same again?

Even the European countries who imposed the sanctions are also feeling the cost. Their Truckers are on strike, farmers are on strike, jobs are being cut in manufacturing leading to protests etc.

The US own hasn't come yet, just wait for it. The sanctions blow back will be felt worldwide.

The point here is that even with the Sanctions, Russia will not change its independent foreign policy and will see out the Ukrainian operation to its logical conclusion. Furthermore, they will adapt to it and work out a means to stabilize the situation.

The security of a country comes first.
