sapientia:Yes you are correct, both Admiral Kuznetsov and Admiral Nakhimov are undergoing refit and modernisation. My post was to highlight to the person I quoted that Moskva wasn't the largest warship in Russian navy's inventory. |
donbrowser:No, it is not Russia's largest warship. Russia has 5 fleets, operating in key areas namely; Northern, Pacific, Baltic, Caspian and Black sea. The Moskva at 11,300 tonnes was the largest ship in the black sea fleet. The largest warship in Russian inventory is the Admiral Kuznetsov at 65,000 tonnes, followed by the Peter the Great at 28,000 tonnes, Admiral Nakhimov at 28,000 tonnes, the Varyag at 12,000 tonnes etc. Note: the above doesn't include submarines. |
There is a saying that it is only a good child that is honoured. While it is commendable that the VP's team reacted swiftly to cauterize a potentially foul smelling wound that was Olaoye's mouth on Arise TV, one will wonder what would have happened if it was the other way round. I bet if the guy hadn't made an utter mess of himself with his comments on air, he won't have been disowned. This life sha. |

Headline is wrong and doesn't match the story. It is not the entire 700MW Power Station that was commissioned, but rather only 1 out of the 4 units being built at the Station. That is only an equivalent of 175MW has been added to the National Grid. Nonetheless, it is a positive development. |
gambojimeta:One common theme with guys like you is that you don't know how to prevent facts in a discourse. Please how relevant is this your recent comment to the points I raised? |
ivolt:It's obvious that you have no coherent argument to present so I will leave you to your conscience. |
gambojimeta:Funny that you say this. The Soviet Union and not Russia, withdrew from Afghanistan in an orderly fashion leaving the government which they established intact. The government stood on its for 2 years after the Soviets left before it was overrun by the Mujahideen who were actively and openly supported by the United States, China and Pakistan via Operation Cyclone. The United States on the other hand, hadn’t even evacuated its soldiers, citizens, NGOs and embassy personnel before the government it touted was invincible collapsed in less than a month to a ragtag band of Taliban with no open external support. Thus leading to the great spectacle of shame we all say on TV with 13 US soldiers blown to bits during the botched evacuation. Both are totally incomparable amigo. |
ivolt:You obviously do not know or understand the terms of the Budapest Memorandum. The memorandum was signed by Russia, the US and the UK guaranteeing Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity if they gave up their nuclear weapons and agreed to stay neutral This second part was violated by the US and Ukraine in the Bucharest Summit of 2008 which granted Ukraine and Georgia a NATO membership accession plan. The non neutrality of Ukraine was further exhibited by the coup which overthrew the government of Viktor Yanukovych and brought into power the Western backed nationalists that are in Ukraine today. Russia's response to the coup was to take back Crimea via a referendum and support the Donbass in their separatist war against Ukraine. As to the claims that there wasn't any agreement on non expansion of NATO to the East, that's also false. There was a verbal agreement and this was verified by Der Spiegel (a German newspaper) from British archives. If you are Anti-Russia, that's understandable but the facts remain the facts and they can't be twisted. |
This is not needed. Everyone should maintain decorum and let events play out. Yes there are reservations with regards to the VP's insistence to contest but then it is a free world. |
Hmmn. I have nothing against the Prof as he is quite capable and it within his right to contest, but I do have some reservations especially with regards to the "morality" question. Let's wait and see what he says in his video. Fingers crossed. |
Igbofam I bet you are the same guy parading as Emmanuel Ikechukwu on Quora who contributes to the Ukraine Council. Just continue with your lies and fake news. Las las, the real facts will come out. Same way you claimed that Gen. Mordvichev was killed and he miraculously reappeared in Mariupol, alive and well. |
Where in the post, was it stated that Russians did it? Bet9ja's official statement and that of the Lagos State Government didn't mention who hacked the site. Why the rush to label Russians as the mastermind? Na wa o. |
This is called "principle of reciprocity" in diplomatic circles. From indications, it does seem that Russia might be breaking off diplomatic relations with the EU and UK. Instead focus and energies will be directed to engaging their master US. The thinking is .....why discuss with servants when they have a master? |
ShenTeh:The Ukrainians are being walloped seriously sir, although with costs to the Russians too. Don't be deceived! |
So, what about the gross violation of the rights of blacks in the US? especially with regards to judicial violations and police brutality. Doesn't that also warrant a suspension?? What about the illegal embargo on Cuba, isn't that a human rights violation? What about the killing of civilians in Iraq during the illegal war and occupation by the George Bush regime, the killings of civilians in Syria during the bombing of Raqqa, the killings of civilians in Libya during the illegal bombing campaign and the subsequent murder of Gadaffi, the killings of civilians in Afghanistan for which even the ICC opened an investigation, the civilian killings in Pakistan using Drone strikes by the Obama regime, Aren't these all human rights violation? Who will bring the US to justice?? IMO, the UN has totally lost its relevance as an unbiased forum for nations to discuss, it now a just a club of the West. Well..the Russians have already resigned membership effective from April 7th 2022. So checkmate. Let the West drown in their supposed victory. |
nzeobi:Noticed same too. They should state explicitly why the contract was terminated and spare us the mumbo jumbo. |
Kingozymandias:No he wasn't. Adamu was Buhari's candidate |
jelel6:Please don't confuse yourself. Russia has no pact with either Saudi Arabia or Qatar on gas trading. If you don't understand open (spot) market operations, please do more research. With regards to Oil volumes which will be withdrawn from the European market, I hope you are seeing recent developments in India, where they are purchasing more volumes of oil from Russia (in excess of 3m barrels per batch) which is traded via Ruble-Rupee exchange. |
santos247:The volume that Russia is unable to sell to Europe, will be transferred to the open market (Spot market). Spot market currently trades at $1,100 per metric ton while Russia's sells to Europe at fixed contract averaging $300. Actually Russia has been loosing a lot selling to Europe, but the benefit has been that the the market is stable and sales via fixed contract is guaranteed as compared to spot market which is volatile. So no loss for Russia, but major losses for Europe as their competitiveness will decline due to extremely high energy costs associated with importing LNG from Qatar and US. Europe's biggest mistake is following the US, who is only out to rip them off with a smiling face. |
jelel6:Your comments shows that you don't understand the gas market. Russia is the world's largest Exporter of gas.. Europe is the second largest consumer of gas after China. Russia already has long-term fixed contracts with China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, India and Pakistan. It also exports LNG to Africa, South America, South East Asia and also to Europe. What Europe will do, is to request Qatar to replace Russia's supplies which it will be unable to do because they don't have the same production capacity that Russia has and secondly, the cost will be almost 5-6 times more than Russian gas (piping gas is considerably cheaper that transporting as LNG via ships). the European economy will be wrecked. |
It will start tomorrow, but it is not instantaneous. There are about 4 pipelines supplying Natural Gas to Europe - Nord Stream, South Stream, Yamal and the one via Ukraine....that's billions of scf of gas being supplied daily. Shutting the pipelines will take days if not even weeks and then the gas will be redirected Eastwards. This Europeans sef, they should know that 2 can play the game. |
There is nothing new here. B-52s are constantly rotated into Europe. There is no need to seek for smoke where there is no fire. |
The number of violations of Nairaland's Rule 8 with regards to this Russia-Ukraine conflict is really astonishing. The rate at which fake news from British yellow press is being spread around as fact is just embarrassing. A tank commander surrenders his tank for $10,000.00 and Ukrainian citizenship....what a joke. |
One thing that is clear, is that with the duplicitous support of the Western powers, Ukraine is seriously winning the information war but it doesn't correspond to the realities on the ground. Getting news from Twitter using what "Ukraine officials" say is already funny in its own right. From casual observations of the pictures posted, I wonder on some things: First is that Russian soldiers don't use red armbands. Those are used by Donestsk forces, and those forces are not operating in either Sumy in Northern Ukraine or Poltava in Central Ukraine. So they must have been captured somewhere in Donbass or Mariupol. Secondly, for the Russians soldiers with white bands, how do we know that they weren't captured on day 1, day 15 or even day 30. How do we know that they are even Russian soldiers? How do we even know that they were captured in Sumy or in Poltava? Thirdly, what's the proof that Russians ever captured Sumy. What the Russians did say in their briefings is that they have surrounded the City of Sumy (this is same as every other city in the North - Kiev, Kharkov and Chernigiv), so are the Ukrainians saying that they have broken the encirclement and captured the entire grouping of troops surrounding Sumy? Fourthly, is on the issue of equipment. From the ways the Zs are painted on this vehicles I am highly suspicious if these vehicles are of Russian origin. One of the biggest weaknesses for Russia in this campaign is the similarity of their tanks and APCs with those of the Ukrainians. So any destroyed Ukrainian tank can easily be passed off Russian and shared on Social media with none the wiser. Another pertinent question is what are Z marked tanks doing in Sumy or Poltava? The forces attacking Northern Ukraine are marked with O, the forces attacking Kiev are marked with V, the forces in the south are marked with Z. So how did Z tanks get to Sumy or Poltava? This conflict is one of propaganda. More especially on the Ukrainian side. Only time can reveal all, but the facts on the ground do not correspond to Ukrainian claims. |
Igbofam2:Just a simple clarification, Ukriane had other types of drones asides the TB2. Some were old Soviet Drones such as the the T-141 Strizh. Also, Turkey has been resupplying Ukraine with TB2s even as the conflict is going on. |
Abdulmumin412:His jingles sponsored by his support group are already on TV. While he hasn't declared openly, it is safe to assume that he has an interest. |
iJhoe:Yes. You can access same news on https://ria.ru/ (use translate). I noticed this ever since the European sanctions, perhaps it is being "geo-blocked" meaning persons outside of Russia can't access it. RT.com is going steady, but they use a DDOS blocker for all accessing their site. |
Is it the same Shoigu that had a meeting today? This Ukrainians sef.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz9JfVmwFwY |
This people are no longer bandits, they are insurgents and should be dealt with as such. But seriously this is embarrassing. ![]() |
DailyStar DailyMail Mirror TheSun The above are examples of "yellow press" and "junk journalism". |
tempest01:There is something called comprehension skills, attain it. It will help you a lot in the journey of life. |
