A major issue with Nigerians, is that we don't care about others as long as we are making money. What manner of wickedness will make food vendors even consider putting paracetamol inside food? Certainly, it is a devious medical practitioner that instituted this disingenuous idea. Nawa for us oo |

AwkaetitiBabe: Good drainage system should put an end to flooding in Lagos. Good drainage system that will greatly reduce flooding in Lagos, might require the demolition of at least 15% of the houses in Lagos. This is because most of these houses are built along drainage channels. |

There has to be more proactivity from the government and citizens of Lagos state....RIP to the deceased. A lot of the inner streets in Lagos, especially areas where flood waters entered people's homes is quite disgusting. Gutter water where people piss in, brush their teeth into and throw all manner of dirt into, will still enter into someone's home. Worse still, is when one has to wade through such muck to either get to work or go visit someone. The situation is terrible and such kind of diseases should be expected. Also, the government might need to reduce or ban plastic waste in Lagos and other flood prone states; pure water nylon, take away packs, bottled water cans....nah these things full all Lasgidi gutters sha. |

This issue is getting messier and messier by the day.
Inasmuch as rape shouldn't be condoned, there is more to this story than meets the eye.
Talking about "being forced into a vehicle by armed men" and "one of them holding a gun while the other held a piece of paper" sounds like playing a twist of using choice words to achieve a certain aim.
At the end of everything though, the biggest losers here are the accuser and the accused as this matter will not leave them even in their old age. While for the rest of us, this is just a crude form of entertainment.
I do feel for their kids though. |

KanuSE: If you know what it means to have clean air in an environment, about 93% of all automobiles in Lagos would be grounded.
Do your research please. I think your opinion is relative and subjective to what you define as clean air. Epe is surrounded by the Lagoon and has a lot of virgin forests surrounding it. What do automobiles produce? What do the plants use for photosynthesis and emit in return? Do you understand the meaning of ocean breeze? I think you equally need to do your research or best visit there and experience the environment. |

And despite the fact it is surrounded by water, only areas below sea level and with bad drainage get flooded.
I just wish they can solve the electricity issue and allow industries apart from banks and private schools thrive.
The electricity issue is getting spiritual.
However, if you have a good source of income, Epe is a fantastic place to live in.
Very serene, no traffic with clean air. Seconded. Epe is gradually becoming a coded place for the big boys. |

Sir, you made the most sense and you are well versed in history. A pity that there are many uninformed peeps on Nairaland. tactius: Why the US easily wiped out Iraq(even though that's debetable...)
1.Gulf war 1...Iraq had just been through a wearying 8 year war with Iran. Both countries were in a bad state at the end of the war. Plus Iraq was BROKE...which is why they invaded Kuwait in the first place.(Money).
2.Gulf War 2..Iraq's army had had ten years of sanctions imposed on them in the wake of Gulf war 1. They were in no state to fight...plus their airforce had not been updated in decades at all. Airpower gone...half the war lost. US technology had improved too.
3.Who sold Iraq most of their weaponry (Guess...).
4.Saddam was one very incompetent ruler...and a bad millitary commander who had failed the entrance exams into the Baghdad Millitary Academy...yet he insisted on running the wars.
5.Russia...Gulf War1...was on the verge of collapse. Gulf War 2...was a shadow of itself. (Vladimir Valdimorovich has gotten them back on track though).
6.DESPITE THAT...the US has never succeded in imposing its will on Iraq...because of the massive outbreak of the insurgency. (And guess who has been supporting most of that insurgency...the Iranians..ofthen thimes via the AlSadr brigades..their proxies in Iraq)
7.US can take out Iran...but they cannot rule Iran. Iran probably has nuclear capability....and also has a track record in raising and training guriella fighters...which it can put to use against the Americans. Afghanistan would be looking like child's play... |

itsmeurLady: Before i begin the Gist, lemme start by saying "Happy New Year to All NLanders! Wishing You All a Fruitfull and Productive 2019!"
I have joined Nl for quite a while now but i started taking it seriously when i got out of the Uni. Nl encouraged me through some posts to be serious and active with my LinkedIn account. From here, i got a special somebori @intelligentdude (not boyfriend ooo) that helped me profesionally create a CV for my jobhunting experience. Yes, Your Cv and cover letter goes a long way too. I never for once got rejected anywhere i submitted my CV + Cover letter but that's by the way. I Was active on the job/vacancies section here on NL and applied for jobs (excluding bank jobs tho). I also got past questions from here as well, some i bought, some i didn't buy . So i applied to a Graduate Trainee Job in an Oil firm as a Customer Relations Officer and after so much waiting, coupled with the Grace and Favour from God, i finally Got the job and i came here to say Thank You to NL and all the amazing people who continually post jobs on these platform, i am really greatful and also to the owner of NairaLand of course. May the Almighty God continually bless and increase all of you for impacting people's lives daily. Thank You Very Much! I also met a wonderful friend here on Nl, he has been a blessing to me as well. In other words, Nairaland is not totally useless like many think, it is what u make of it at the end of the day, Stay Focused and Positive!
You might be wondering why i am writing this and talking plenty but that's because you don't know how it feels to be jobless and you dont know what it means to be favoured out of many. Just like the story of the 10 lepers, i have come to say Thank You to this FORUM! For those who are still hoping to get employed someday, just hold on, you will share your testimony too. Continue applying and make sure you are doing it right, God's Grace will see you through some day. Dont Give Up, God is not done yet! it wasn't easy for me, there were days where i cried, some days i gave up, some days i felt depressed but i never lost faith and confidence in God. Against All Odds, i believed in myself and i believed in God.
Don't be idle if you don't have a job yet, get or learn a skill like tailoring, shoemaking etc and still be applying for jobs because one thing is to learn a skill and the other thing is to fund your business but just get a skill on standby and God will see you through.
Thank You Nairaland and Nairalanders!!!!!!!!! My Hearty Congratulations. Please permit me ask, where did you see the CRO vacancy as I am looking for same for a friend of mine. I am looking out for Customer Service jobs in the Banking, Telecoms or Energy Sector. Any info will be appreciated. |
Politics › Re: Tinubu Blasts PDP, Atiku by mach7(m): 6:41am On Jan 09, 2019 |
“When Buhari says ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ you know where he stands. He means what he says, no more, no less. With Atiku, things are more nuanced. When Atiku speaks, he may mean ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ ‘maybe,’ ‘I don’t know,’ ‘come back tomorrow,’ ‘all the above,’ or ‘none of the above.’
“His compass has four needles pointing in different directions at the same time. He knows of no direction to take. President Buhari’s word is his bond. When Atiku speaks, it is to give you the slip.
“We cannot afford a President whose ways and mind is a maze of contradicting urges and colliding desires. This shows he has no vision for the nation and no guiding principles, except the Unclad pursuit of power for the Unclad use of that power.”
Wow, The Jagaban's speechwriter(s) must be a genius.
.“Atiku laid waste to the national treasury for eight long years. That is enough for one lifetime. We should not reward him by giving him another eight years because the more he feeds, the stronger his hunger grows.
“His is a thirst that can’t be quenched and a hand that cannot be restrained from taking whatever is on the table.
“As the PDP candidate, he is now the leader of an avaricious horde that seeks to reattach its mandible once again to the public wealth and forever lay siege to our nation’s future. Nigerians would do well not to pay them any attention.”
The truth is PDP with a different candidate would have given APC a bigger headache in the February elections. Atiku's 'perceived corruption' baggage has terribly harmed his image. |
Career › Re: What You Can Do If You Feel Undervalued At Work by mach7(m): 8:40am On Jan 08, 2019 |
If you feel undervalued at work, then it is means that you are either putting in a lot of effort and getting little or no reward OR you are feeling jealous of the progress and recognition accorded to others.
My take is that you should either talk to your HR and explain your feelings in this regard (if the organizations allows for this) OR you should seek for another job.
This is because feeling 'undervalued' shows that you will not be motivated to do your tasks and if you are not doing your tasks, then the company will not see you as someone to be valued.............and the vicious cycle continues.
