Solatium: Another nonsense! Do you know his financial status? I know multimillionaires in schools, because he is a black African that is why you are saying this rubbish. Europeans schooling in SA, go on vacation every term, some scholarships allow holidays, they will pay for it! Besides he is going for a family member's wedding, they understand our culture, that we take these ceremonies seriously. With all my years in SA, I am hearing for the first time that SA is a drug route country! You are just an alarmist |

Honestly the best way to go about a short stay visa is a tourism visa. It is better to apply and show that you have no affiliation in the republic. Book hotels, book events and tours, have a proper itinerary in the republic. Let them know you are only visiting for tourism purposes, South Africa is big on tourism, before COVID19 emergence South Africa's tourism contribution to GDP was over 10%. Choose tours like the Garden Route (eastern Cape to Western Cape) visits to stellenbosch's wine farms, the cape point, table mountain, come to Gauteng to visit Soweto, so many things to do, just Google. You must back this up with proof that you can afford it, if possible make deposits. When booking hotels, book in multiple cities, book different connecting flights within SA. You don't have to pay for them. Honestly tourism visa with a no affiliation with persons in the republic is the best tannystacey: 2 Likes |

I heard from a reliable source that some South African embassy officials here in Nigeria now collect money from visa applicants. Some individuals in the embassy have turned visas into rackets, this is probably why the visas are harder to get so that people can pay (my assumption) . They charge as high as 900k per student visa. |

pimper24: 1. Admission letter (stating the course duration) 2. Letter of undertaking by the school 3. Medical aid 4. Bank statement 5. Proof of residence 6. Health certificate and radiology certificate 7. Police report 8. Yellow fever vaccination card 9. Itinerary (flight) Now let me give this free tip, your bank statement should be in naira or if you have account in another country (not SA). Even if you are on a scholarship as long as the scholarship is from SA please try not to present it to the embassy here in Nigeria. The reason is like every other country, the evaluation officer wants to know how much you are taking to South Africa, they are not interested in the money already in South Africa. This is also applicable to people looking for other visas, your bank statement should be of Nigerian origin. Don't let your sponsor present a South African bank statement. Again, your account must have a good and comfortable balance. Finally nothing is cast in stone, some are lucky but I don't believe in luck. Ask yourself this question how much are you taking to South Africa? 1 Like |

Lionessza6: Well the woman mentioned foreigner in Zulu cos the ID that was presented was the man's Nigerian passport, even while apologising the dispenser told the woman that she thought it was these "fraudulent Nigerians " When I said they wished they were us, I meant the not so enlightened south African who sees the foreigner in schools or doing well. 1 Like |

This is a visa section for people with genuine intentions of going to SA, it is not supposed to talk about the Xenophobia in SA, but if I may add, the average South African has this attitude towards foreigners but honestly if you are high up you don't notice them. Like you are in school, work place in good areas, etc. A couple was in Dischem pharmacy in Midrand, the woman is South African but born and raised in the UK, the man was Nigerian, so the couple were only speaking English, they wanted to buy drugs for their sick child, so the dispenser not knowing the woman understands Zulu spoke to her colleague that "their child would die anyway ". The woman was raving mad. How can a woman wish another woman to lose a child. We see these things daily, but we ignore because sometimes they wish they are us. Like I said earlier don't give them the ammunition to attack you. Have genuine intentions and you will be fine. Stay on your lane, don't go after jobs that the locals want. My piece 2 Likes |

I wonder why people are trying to discourage others from getting visas into SA with Xenophobic attacks. The South Africans frown at immigrants coming into the country without contributing meaningfully to their country. I wonder how many doctors, engineers or lecturers are being affected by Xenophobia. Why would you want to relocate to somewhere like SA, country battling with unemployment and go and "hustle". You must have a good reason to live in SA. You should understand the nomenclature of SA before going to SA to reside. Asides being a professional, there is no point going to SA to reside, or you are a major investor. You as a foreigner have no business living in some townships or suburbs. A lot of Nigerians perpetuate so much evil in South Africa lik drugs, human trafficking etc. 90% of prostitutes on long street at nights are Nigerians, Nigerians shouldn't do that. I have been approached to rent a property so that young girls in the townships can live there and prostitute. The average educated South African respect the Nigerian who is responsible and have s professional job/career in SA. If you must relocate, try and be in the STEM field i.e Science, Technology, Engineering or Medicine. That is what the economy needs. Don't go there to marry their people and you don't have viable profession. If you must marry, marry out of genuine reasons and don't use your partner for immigration purposes. 9 Likes |
