Wilson looks like he's 40 or something. I thought he was much younger. Seems so boyish in his movies. |
Phew! Scared me there for a second. Tpia, who aren't natural blondes in the list? Mattew?Wilson? |
@chuckwudi44 You make tons of sense. But it's hard for people to let go of deeply-held beliefs, however false. Imagine tithing for years and believing the love and grace of God is conditioned on that, and then learning tithing is irrelevant and at no time required for Christians; in most cases, the best-case scenario is, they acknowledge tithing is unChristian, but continue the practice anyway, because they don't want to 'risk' finacial failure. Never mind that some tithe for years with no discernible difference in their finances, and some tithe and have more because they work hard for it, but still ascribe their financial success to tithing. Some of the richest people on earth aren't Christians and don't tithe, and they get wealthier and wealthier. We are called to give to the poor, and to help orphans and widows and others in need of our help. We are not caled to tithe and our finacial prosperity doesn't rest on it. But everyone's entitled to their beliefs and if they want to tithe even when they realise they don't have to, it's their money and their affair. Non-Jews, Christians or no, were never under the law in the first place. The OT laws are for Jews and is part of their cultural and religious heritage, not to mention one of the foundations of a religion different from Christianity: Judaism. Christ rescued JEWS from the law, because it was to Jews that the laws were given. We're 'gentiles' , partakers of the salvation of Christ. Jewish laws have absolutely nothing to do with us. What Christ preached, and all he stood for, are what is ours. Unless you're a Jew, the OT has very little to do with you, and tithing nothing at all. That's the problem with importing the culture that sprung a religion along with the religion instead of separating the two. |
My to-do list? Got something againts blondes, have you?@tpia Those noisy Wayans you're crazy about are better-looking than Pitt, abi? JS, yalk the above-average guy na. I'm curious. Who's the little boy? What's his pic doing here? He's barely out of his nappies Karma! |
If Simon Baker is merely average, who on earth is in the top percentile then? Spikie, um, er, I'm bonkers over only one blonde: Craig. Watanabe,Rickman, Connery, are dark-haired men. What's wrong with blondes? Pitt is blonde, and female creation say with one voice that he is divine. One more beauty unacknowledged in these pages. Smokin hot when he was younger, and still a mighty good looking man:Terrence Howard. Pity he won't be returning in Iron Man 2. Cheadle will be taking over his part. |
Did you just say Nay to Simon Baker? Dangedy dang, woman! You wouldn't know a good-looking male specimen if 'molten hot' were tattoed on his forehead. Now iice, she knows what's what. |
JeSoul:Is it good? Out with it. I know you've seen it.JeSoul:What? Bakerrrrr. Hmmmm.Beautiful man. And just the right age too. Pity there's no more room in my harem.(sigh)

I've long lost touch with Nollywood and its players. I don't know who the dimwit is. But I recognised Edochie, Usifo and Noah. "Stooooop. Don't do eeeet. It is baaaaad." Man, na die. |
Awwww. Well. My tastes have long been established. Movies like onions, each viewing revealing something new; that's what I like. And if it manages to wring me dry, and exhaust me with emotion, like Born on the Fourth of July or The English Patient, so much the greater. I steer clear of Nollywood as a rule, but can anyone seriously tell me they can say Nay to a Nollywood Pocahontas? We' were half-dead with laughter here! So comically horrendous, it's incredible. I expected to see Nollywood surpassing itself in crass, crude unimagination and moronic uninventiness, not to mention its usual ineptitude, and wasn't disappointed at all. Ahhh. Hilarious thing. ![]() |
Can we hear word now? Horror film freaks and junkies and their fixes. That Orphan had better be good, with all this to-do about it. Watching the Nollywood production of Pocahontas starring Pete Edochie, and Ramsey Noah as John Smith. Now that is real horror. |
I get your point now. Why was this thread moved? It's about the moral and ethical considerations in the pursuit of designer babies,it's not about the science. It was interesting and belonged in the Religion section. |
Sorry about your loss. PLEASE postpone the trip for now. Their meeting their granddaughter can wait. Afterall, what they're hounding you about is this ridiculous second marriage, not meeting their grandchild. Make your stance known, firmly and politely, and then forever ignore all comments and references to the marriage; don't dignify it anymore by answering it. Go on with your life. When the whole thing has died down, however long it takes, then you might consider a trip. |
Don't know about now,but aren't your fees supposed to be paid in part or fully,or you show you've enough to pay tuition for the duration of your studies, before you're issued a student visa? What are you going to do about that? 1.5mil's only about £6000. Canada's a great country, but you're only allowed employment within the campus if you're a full-time student. Maybe things have changed now. |
Lost - Eric Clapton for Simon |
It's no biggie. Afterall there was a time surnames didn't exist and people still got married.Heard of a guy who took his wife's name after marriage, to prove a point, or to be perverse. What's in a name? |
justcool:I don't get it. Is speed the sole indicator of sperm cell health? If the fastest sperm cells are conceived because they're the healthiest, shouldn't that mean everyone naturally conceived is born in perfect health? That's almost everyone on earth. But that isn't the case. Babies, who got to the womb first because they're the fastest, are born with birth defects and serious disease every day. I'm not sure speed has a relationship to sperm cell health. Male sperm cells are faster than female sperm cells, but tire easily. Sometimes they flag on the way, and the slower but more steady female cells overtake it. If the male sperm cell can maintain its speed to the womb, then bingo, you have a boy. |
Haven't seen it. Just what I heard about the movie from those who have. A childless couple adopt a creepy older kid and evil abounds, culminating in some surprise ending. Isn't that the plot? No one would say what the surprise was, just that I should go see it myself. |
Regarded as scripture by whom exactly? Of what good Christian writings do you speak? There are many excellent Christian authors, antiquated and contemporary. I love C.S Lewis, but that doesn't mean his views should become part of Christian canon. Their authors met with the apostles of Christ and learnt from them? Who are they? What did write about? Did they have something to add that the apostles did not, you know, cover? Why do you feel they should be included in scripture? 'Good' in what way? |
It's an interesting question, actually. No need to insult him for that. |
Some childless couple adopting a creepy kid. There was something about a surprise ending. |
Horror flick junkies, is what they are. |
What's fantastic about it? Is it good? The original was stupendously horrifyingly sadistic. |
The original or the remake? |
Does Tim Burton make scary movies? I haven't seen any. His dark materials are very English and not frightening at all. |
Released in the UK and some other countries. It's been pirated and is available for select and illegal downloads. Not widely released yet. |
tpia.:Not really, jare. I couldn't finish it. But it wasn't all bad. I like Kevin. Catching up on The Mentalist on DVD. Simon Baker is such a beautiful man. |
Delayed gratification. |
justkunmi: Harry Potter: justkunmi: ; ![]() Inglourious Basterds still hasn't been widely released. Would have been great to review.Wetin dey worry dis Tarantino sef? |
tpia.:Of course you didn't like it. Those dorky Wayans weren't there. The creatures dont have even a tenth of their older brother's cool. Lol he was great in Hitch. Almost every scene he was in got a laugh out of me. ![]() |
debora2009:Great news for the little green men on Mars. Here's hoping they look you up! |
Hai Cyprian Ekwensi! I ate up his books as a kid. Loved Juju Rock and Jagua Nana. Soyinka is a terrible novelist. Not in the same league as Achebe. Not even close. His plays are so-so. His real strength and genius is in non-fiction, like The Man Died, one of the greatest books ever written by man. I almost suffocated with pride when I read it. That's what he won the Nobel Prize for. |
