@post Disagree. Good writers, bad writers, no gender in between. But, for the sake of argument, name any female Nigerian writer that's written anything half as good as The Famished Road by Ben Okri. |
See Precious. She can't even type properly again. Jolly weekend with Bros, I see. What are girly movies o? If people aren't dying or the atmosphere isn't full of clouds and darkness, it's not a movie? You've such an odd dark side. |
I've only seen Duplicity, The International and The Reader on that list. The International is fine. A bit too convoluted and lost me at several points. I can hardly remember anything about it now except Owen and Watts were in it. Really forgettable movie. |
wirinet:That they do. Still, the whole sordid truth will come out sooner or later. If bank chiefs are stealing and jeoparding people's financial futures, it's right that they should go to jail for it. But there's something fishy and lopsided about Sanusi's Way. |
'Mo'? I don laugh tire. Really interesting thread.Muhsin and Nezan make good reading. Popped in cos I thought it meant Rushdie's book, but I've learned something new. I'll def be checking out this Al-tabari's writing. Evolutionary psychology might bear him out. It makes it easy to see which holy writings are genuine, and which patent fabrications. About time I read the Quran in full too. |
Independence Day? With Will Smith? Seriously? Is it possible you think this is 1989? Hehe. |
Silly topic and post. Why do you get to define what is 'decent' and what is not for other people? Define and live by yours and leave others to define and live by theirs. What's Christianty to do with it? I've been to several churches and I'm yet to see this famous nudity of yours. Did the naked women you saw have Christianity tattooed on the parts of their bodies you scrupulously examined? Even if they were Christians, who made you Christian Women's Fashion Police? Face your Hijab and burqah and mind your business, man. When you get to paradise your 70 virgins can wear whatever they like. |
They disagreed with the TIMING and MOTIVE. They're certainly entitled and it shouldn't have cost them their jobs. They're not there to play YES MEN in a govt organisation, and a CBN Governor shouldn't be a MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY despot. Na him go first reach there? Nonsense |
Lol. Ika. Are they the same age? Jessica Parker never said she was a paragon of beauty na. People of colour have the best skins; blacks, asians and hispanics. Caucasian women lucked out in the skin dept; freckles and sunburn and they wrinkle quickly and look their age faster. As for beauty, there are some absolutely stunning white women. And the men? When they are fine, they are FINE! Dang. |
Marley and Me? Good grief. Don't go near it! If you're really desperate to watch a dog movie, see Dr Dolittle part 1 or Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Will you guys make up your mind about what movie to review already? I mean, cheesh! |
becomrich.:Actually the constitution says if a Nigerian MALE marries a non-Nigerian female, she may apply for citizenship. A Nigerian WOMAN married to a non-Nigerian, according to your lopsided constitution, cannot confer citizenship status on her husband. Found this out the hard and unfunny way. |
STOP watching! How can you start something from season 5? Go to the network's website and watch old episodes, or look for where you can download. All the seasons are available on DVD. I stopped watching at Season 6. I think it's in season 8 now. |
Pele JK. ![]() It's not bad being a girl na. Try it for a month and see. You'll love it. |
MEDERMA SCAR REMOVER 4 STARS Scars are notoriously hard to get rid of: acne, black spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, surgical and injury scars. This combination TRULY WORKS: !. At home, do-it-yourself microdermabrasion, with a skin brush and an apricot scrub+ pure organic aloe vera mix. I part pure aloe to 3 parts Apricot scrub. 3 minutes scrubbing on each scar, varying application days: 4, 9, 3,10, 7,10,10,5,etc, so the skin has time to heal between treatments and doesn't get immune from regularly-spaced application days. 2. Apply Mederma scar remover on the treated spots every day, 3-4 times a day. I started this 2 months ago, and my scars have faded. Another month or two and they'll be gone altogether. It might work for stretch marks, but you might need something stronger than Mederma to apply after scrubbing.

LOREAL DERMO EXPERTISE DEWRINKLING AND ILLUMINATING SERUM (MATURE SKIN) 1 STAR ![]() Bought this for my mum, and since I'm in my early thirties now, gave it a whiz myself. Disappointing. No difference I could see after using it every night for a month. The Olay serum is MUCH better.
|
LIKAS PAPAYA SOAP 5 STARS It works! It clears blemishes. Excellent, award-winning product.
|
OLAY REGENERIST DAILY REGENERATING SERUM 41/2 STARS This has to be Olay's best product. It works.Be patient. Enough said.

PHILOSOPHY HOPE IN A JAR 4 STARS The smell takes some getting used to,but you stop noticing after a while. I use this as a daytime moisturiser and my skin texture and tone noticeably improved before I was halfway through the jar. But another friend used it and says she didn't see a difference. On many professional beauticians' top 3 list. Works works works

NEUTROGENA DRY TOUCH SPF 85 SUNBLOCK. 5 STARS You know how the higher the SP factor the greasier the sunscreen? I don't know how Neutrogena overcame this, delivering very high and effective protection in a light greaseless medium. I bought a pack of 2 and it promises to last and last. Number 1 Dermatologist recommended sunblock. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The money I've wasted over the years on useless beauty products with posh names and extravagant promises they fail to fulfil maddens me when I think about it. Fully half of what's on the market don't work, some are by obscure Fly by Night laboratories out to make a quick buck, while the trusted names churn out the same products, changing labels and bottles and adding one or two useless ingredients. Some products work, but will take huge investments in time and money before you see results. And yet there are little known products that deliver the same rsults cheaper and much faster. If a product works, let's know about it here. If it doesn't, bash it here so others can steer clear. Yes, some skin products'll work for some and dismally for others. But as a general rule, what works works for a great deal of people. Share reviews of skin and beauty products you've used or are using, good and bad |
Great attitude! You'll go far. There are aviation/auronautical universities, like Embry-Riddle. CPL Training cost about 18k as at 2003/4 and lasted 2 years, though there's accelerated training available at some schools, and some promise you can finish in a year but I thought it was some marketing gimmick. Resources there are for women, like Women in Aviation International scholarships which gives women about $3mil annually, but I don't know about scholarships for male pilots. You might also check airlines that are willing to accept international candidates for training and job placement. BA did that years ago, don't know about now. Mnay of them will train you if you'll work exclusively for them upon completion of training. Have a look around. It may seem impossible you'll be flying that sleek beautiful machine, like earning wings needs special innate skills or is brain surgery, but it's not true. Almost anyone can do it Don't give up on your dream. It'll come true! |
'He was still married' because they hadn't divorced. Trust a tabloid to stretch the thing for the maximum effect. They announced their break up well before Mr and Mrs Smith, that I recall, because I was disapoointed they were going to join Hollywood casualty marriages. They were separated but hadn't divorced. The rumours about he and Jolie came much ater, the film director and other cast talking about their 'chemistry' and how they often went off by themselves, and the two denying a romantic relationship until they were spotted on some African beach on vacation with the kids, and Jlie got pregnant. He ands Aniston broke up cos he wanted kids and she didn't, becuase of her 'career'. |
I definitely willl be checking it out. Haven't seen a Swank movie I didn't like yet, and I like Butler. Hai Tpia! |
Some kind of relationship must have existed between the guy and the kids for her to expect them to be featured in his will na. And they worked together for the money. In which case, lady, you should've been thinking of your kids and some of the money you both worked for and part of the property acquired should've been in your name. He wouldn't object to this since you strived for the money together. It's his will. When it comes to blood kin, who cares whether they worked for the money or not? Sorry ehn. But you sort of sound more put out by the fact that your kids aren't in his will than the fact that he's dead. |
I totally like Gerard, he has a rep as the nicest guy in Hollywood. Swank doesn't do wishy washy movies. She's a two-time Best Actress Oscar winner.I'm def checking out that movie. Surprised I never heard about it. Lol Just Kidding. Hitch doesn't pretend it's immitating real life na. Haven't seen much of Garner. Saw her in Daredevil, when she and tAffleck almost made me puke with their forced and unreal exchanges. Stopped watching when they started fighting for no reason. Awful movie. But they must have liked it since she and Affleck got married. Electra I left after 2 minutes. Dumb. Alias I loved from beginning to end, tho there were lots of unlikely events. I just liked Victor Garber, who played her father. His icy composure and cool disdain. And I adored her journalist best friend. Garner dated the guy who played Vaughn in real life. Never saw 13 going on 30.Not especially a fan. Oh she was in Catch Me If You Can. The call girl DiCaprio tricked. ![]() JeSoul:Lol you'd be surprised. ![]() |
Stuff like this will not pass away for a long long long loooooong time. In 2005, or was it 2006, a friend and his wife en route to my home waka for wen dem dey do oro. Their car broke down. They were chased on foot for an unbelievable distance. Na God say make the guy no get pot belle to slow am down. It wasn't in Lagos, but a city just as cosmopolitan. I tell you, if that 'tree' wants 24 heads, it will get 24 heads, and an additional 'Take, no vex' 2 or 3. Shebi na una country. ![]() |
You're killing me here with your take on Titanic ![]() Yeah! Linda Hamilton. I never remember her name. Lol JS, how do married women sound o? ![]() Hehe. JK, anything's possible you cynic. You disliked Garner in Juno or just in general? |
According to the newspaper article and the man's comments, she was a caucasian he married, and they were BOTH unbelievers when they got married. He became a Christian and she left him for a number of reasons, none of which really matters. The guy persisted after her but she wouldn't budge. She left him and married another bloke. He got serious with his faith and became a pastor. He was alone for ten years. Two years ago he got married. This year his marriage became illegal and he was asked to leave his post. Chike na. |
What is a primate again? Puzzling moniker.I dimly recall something about it in Biology. |
It is? Brad and Aniston had publicly announced the end of their marriage and were separated when Pitt met Jolie. So Aniston cried boohoo and milked it to play victim for all it was worth, but that union was over before Brangelina began. They've five kids now, I think. |
Tpia you'll find it impressive na. No be Wayans you marry, with their kagunkagun head? ![]() What was the ending in Titanic again? She jumped into the sea and was united with a patient DiCaprio. The movie cost Cameron his marriage to the Terminator star. The one who played Sarah Connor. I forget her name. Cameron met another woman on the set of the movie, one of the cast, and started an affair with her. They're now married with 5 kids. No wonder his wife acted so cold during the oscars ceremony. 'Holding on' and 'my heart will go on' lol! You're so right about Hollywood creating unrealistic expectations in the young and impressionable. Teen romances piss me off, especially when they make drugs sex and rock and roll cool and urbane. And I found it hysterical, when I was still dating, for some guy to walk me to my parents door, and then, cued by Hollywood, try and act the romantic star. I so get your objections to the genre. Nevertheless, there are some movies that are just an absolute masterpiece, like The English Patient, Crouching Tiger, Brokeback Mountain, As Good As It Gets, and some 50s and 60s romantic movies. I still love Sound of Music and Singin in the Rain and Breakfast at Tiffanys and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers lol. They don't make em like that no mo. Seen any one of those? |
Ah no please don't disturb them o! We know where she is. Different strokes, I guess. Hitch is exactly the kind of cheesy, unrealistic 'romance' Hollywood is known for. They're what makes a good romance really worthwhile when you see one. Kevin James was hysterically funny though. I just like a movie with lots of innocence and plenty of depth. The moment eyes are meeting across some smoky bar and they're rutting in the next scene, I'm out of there. But grace and poetry and tempestrous passions, which doesn't necessarily translate into sex, that's romance for me. I LOVED Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the two romances in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Ang Lee is a master at that sort of thing. The ONLY genre you rebel against? You watch B movies and war movies and spaghetti westerns then? ![]() |
