Politics › Re: Buhari’s Friend Produced INEC Card Readers, APC Has ‘master Key’ – Fani- Kayode by maestroz: 11:53am On Mar 27, 2015 |
chibecanglobal: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday called to question the integrity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing it of working for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP specifically alleged that the INEC not only awarded the contract for the supply of Master Card Readers to an APC apologist, but also handed the master key to the man whom it identified as Sani Musa.
Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, accused INEC of putting in place in its preparation for the Presidential election programmes specifically meant to benefit the APC with a view to ensuring victory for the opposition party.
Fani-Kayode, however, expressed confidence that the PDP would win the elections irrespective of what happens, saying with confidence that Nigerians in their millions would vote for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking on the controversy surrounding the debate of whether voters should stay behind after voting to protect their votes or not, the PDP asked voters to stay back at the polling units and ensure that their votes are not rigged in favour of the opposition.
“We cannot sit by idly and remain silent when a desperate group of ruthless and greedy little men, in collusion with their friends in the APC, rob the Nigerian people of their historic opportunity to elect a President of their choice.
“This they intend to do this by sitting in a dark room somewhere and rigging the election in the most sophisticated manner even before it holds.
“We shall share this information in good faith and we shall then leave the matter for necessary action by the relevant security agencies and authorities,” he stated.
“Our concerns stem from the fact that the moving spirit and a major shareholder and board member of the company that supplied the Card Reader system and machines to INEC is not only a friend of but also an ardent and keen supporter of General Mohammadu Buhari and the APC.
“That man’s name is Sani Musa and he is indeed the main force behind the company. The company’s name is Act Technologies Ltd. and the Chairman of the company is one Engineer SK Danladi.
“How and why INEC would give the contract to supply the Card Readers to a fanatical APC supporter and to a man whose other company was officially blacklisted by INEC a couple of years ago for sharp practices, needs to be explained,” he stated.
He said Sani Musa has expressed his undying support for the APC and General Buhari and his hatred and virulent opposition to the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan openly and publicly on his Facebook wall.
“Some of his comments on Facebook read as follows: ‘I stand with him (Buhari) for whatever reason” and “Imagine the kind of people given spaces in our nation’s news tabloids. Hoodlums are having field day in Nigeria since the inception of GEJ’s administration. Mad men, hooligans and vultures have taken over decency of the society. May Allah save us from the torments of this (sic) rascals and expose their intentions on our nation state be it the Boko Haram, killer militants or by extension those in authority with wicked intentions – Amen.’”
He also alleged that certain aspect of and electronic components within the Card Reader system which would be used in Saturday’s election had not only been compromised but that the encryption codes and so-called ‘’master key’’ may have been made available to the opposition or their friends and agents.
“This will enable them to access the system, fabricate and generate fake votes and manipulate the voting patterns to their advantage. This constitutes a very serious breach of security and it is a criminal offence,” he stated.
“If the conspiracy is not exposed, if the Nigerian people do not rise up and demand answers, if the plan is not intercepted and aborted, if the Chairman of INEC does not answer the relevant questions and take the necessary steps and if the relevant individuals, including Sani Musa and his collaborators and co-conspirators in INEC and the opposition, are not called to order, arrested, interrogated and prosecuted, their plan may well succeed,” he further said.
Raising further allegations, Fani-Kayode said specifically that, “The Master Encryption/Decryption Key that can “unlock” and simulate the PVC data processed by the Smart Card Reader had been compromised.
“There is only one copy of the Master Key in Nigeria and it is in the possession of an individual who is a known APC sympathiser/supporter (and also the contractor responsible for the production of PVCs and manufacture of Smart Card Readers for INEC who was already blacklisted by INEC following his inability to deliver ballot papers during the 2011 elections).
“The Master Key should rightly be in the possession of INEC, as the neutral umpire, under the most stringent access control protocol imaginable and not freely in the possession of a partisan actor,” he stated.
Proffering solutions to the identified problem, the PDP said, “INEC should be officially requested to immediately produce the Master Encryption/Decryption Key (before it has the opportunity to cover up this monumental act of negligence).
“Failure to carry out Independent Security Audit of its IT Infrastructure: Contrary to what the average political commentator thinks, the critical IT infrastructure for the use of the Smart Card Readers by INEC is not necessarily the actual device itself, but the back-end IT infrastructure comprising INEC servers, database, network, personnel and processes.
“Given the critical nature and purpose of this infrastructure, the standard global best practice is for the organisation to enlist the services of an independent third-party IT Security Audit firm to carry out a comprehensive (and indeed, periodic) Security Audit of its entire end-to-end IT infrastructure and prepare a Security Audit Report which forms the ONLY basis upon which INEC can certify its proposed technology as secure and safe from vulnerabilities that can be exploited by rouge persons/systems.
“There are various internationally-acceptable information security standard certifications that a reliable back-end IT infrastructure like INEC’s should pass in order to command public confidence, such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 27018, etc.
“The lack of such security-related certifications simply means that INEC cannot confidently assert that its systems have not been “hacked”, compromised or otherwise illegally accessed by unauthorised persons.
“INEC should be officially requested to immediately produce a copy of any Security Audit Report independently authored by a reputable and certified third party (before it has the opportunity to cover up this monumental act of negligence).
“If INEC fails to produce a satisfactory Security Audit Report, then it should be compelled to conduct a fresh Security Audit of its entire IT infrastructure which can even be extended to its production/manufacturing facilities in China (indeed the only other copy of the Master Encryption/Decryption Key is in the possession of the Chinese Manufacturers) – this process of auditing cannot possibly be completed before the general elections,” he stated.
“Compromised back-end Personnel: Contrary to standard industry practice, INEC opted for the engagement of relatively inexperienced, “suitcase” IT Consulting Companies for the development of its back-end collation and transmission systems and other core server and database applications, using predominantly open source software characterised by publicly-available source code – another major security vulnerability.
“While significant budgets were made available for this purpose, INEC’s choice of “greenhorn” consultants was due to the ridiculously low contract sums paid for these consultancy contracts.
“The unfortunate consequence of this indiscretion, however, is that the personnel associated with these firms are poorly motivated, ill-equipped, poorly supervised and easily compromised,” he stated.
Despite the identified challenges, Fani-Kayode expressed confidence that President Jonathan would win the elections.
“The PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation and our candidate President Goodluck Jonathan are not in the least bit worried about what the outcome of Saturday’s election will be.
“We believe that we have the backing and full support of the Nigerian people and we believe that we shall not only win but that we shall win convincingly,” he stated.

Politics › Re: 2015 POLLS: Please Support Me, GEJ Begs North-East by maestroz: 7:08am On Mar 27, 2015 |
LRNZH: https://punch.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/President-Goodluck-Jonathan-360x225.jpg
President Goodluck Jonathan has begged the North, specifically the North-East geo-political zone, to support and vote for him on Saturday.
Jonathan in a letter titled, ‘My dear Arewa brothers and sisters’, which he personally signed, said it would be unfair for anyone to blame him for the Boko Haram menace which resulted in the death of over 15,000 Nigerians.
The President admitted that his administration initially underestimated the menace and that was why the terrorists were able to kill many Nigerians.
He added that the menace was compounded by the lack of equipment.
The President, however, said the successes recorded by the Armed Forces in the last six weeks showed that he was indeed capable of curbing terrorism. He, therefore, called on northerners to vote for him in order to perfect the work he had started.
He said, “I do understand that my first duty to you at this time is to rid the entire North of the menace of Boko Haram and secure your lives and property. You and I know that nothing in Nigeria’s past prepared us for the unprecedented reign of unmitigated terror, mayhem and destruction which these murderous terrorists have visited on parts of our country.
“The initial slowness in effectively responding to the threat was as a result of the asymmetrical nature of the war on terror and the need for us to properly equip our security agencies for the successful prosecution of the war.
“Given the recent successes recorded by our Armed Forces with your cooperation and patriotic support, the cooperation of our neighbours as well as the laudable gallantry of security agents, I am confident that in the shortest possible time, the menace of Boko Haram would have been eliminated for good.”
Jonathan’s inability to curb terrorism had made him very unpopular in some northern states to the extent that he was stoned in some of the states while he was campaigning.
Jonathan said he and the people of the South-South geo-political zone supported his late predecessor, Umaru Yar’Adua who was from the North.
He, therefore, urged them to do the same for him.
He said, “Because Nigeria today is in desperate need of stability, I plead with you to join me in building on the foundation of the traditional alliance between us which has always served to keep Nigeria one strong, united and prosperous nation,” he said.
The soaring popularity of Jonathan’s main rival, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd), of the All Progressives Congress, among the Arewa community seems to have jolted the President.
The Vice President, Namadi Sambo, also met northerners in Lagos on Thursday to beg them to vote for Jonathan for the sake of national peace and unity.
Incidentally, the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, who has been campaigning for her husband, has avoided visiting the North-West and the North-East.
http://www.punchng.com/news/please-support-me-jonathan-begs-north/ I read with great enthusiasm the president's appeal to solicit for votes from north east. I felt so THRILLED till I saw the phrase underestimated the insurgents. I paused to check if GEJ was truly GCFR. I saw GCFR against his name and I marvelled at his incompetence. Was he elected to underestimate or take action when necessary? He is the architect of his own nightmare. No amount of dollars would revive those lives. Incorruption is massive. Ekitigate still llingers without culprits tried. Hate speeches by his supporters without been called to order. We in the south should be happy having GEJ but he has let us down. Corrections can't be made in 6weeks. |

Rilwayn001: The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ali Olanusi, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party Thursday morning, has given reason for his action.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, Mr. Olanusi said he decided to join the All Progressives Congress after realising that the party offers a platform where he can find justice, fairness and equity.
He said, “While still being in place as the democratically elected Deputy Governor of Ondo State, I have decided to lead my teeming supporters and well wishers in the state into the All Progressive Congress (APC) where we can find justice, fairness, equity and democratic liberty, a party to which majority of our kith and kins in Yorubaland belongs.
“I have taken this decision at this critical time, in the best interest of peace, stability and good governance of our dear state and for the overall development of the South West and the nation.”
“They (his followers) have watched helplessly in the last six years years the untold marginalisation and total exclusion from the government they laboured to put in place.”
In his response to the development, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, said, “The state government just received the news of the defection of Alhaji Ali Olanusi, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, to the All Progressives Congress.
“Though it came as a surprise, government acknowledge his right to determine his political affiliation and wish him well.”
Mr. Olanusi is said to have had a frosty relationship with Governor Olusegun Mimiko for sometime.
He ran with Mr. Mimiko on the platform of the Labour Party in 2007, becoming deputy governor in 2009 after the Court of Appeal declared Mr. Mimiko winner of the disputed 2007 governorship election in the state.
He ran again with Mr. Mimiko on the platform of the same party in 2014.
In October 2014, the governor and his deputy defected to the PDP.
Mr. Olanusi’s defection came less than a week after the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Tele Ikuru, left the APC for the PDP.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How Shoki Song Cost Me My Job. by maestroz: 12:53pm On Mar 26, 2015 |
Naijasinglegirl: I made it to the final stage of the recruitment process of one multinational. The interview was for 9am at their Island office. I can boldly say they were looking for candidates who had the virtue of patience because the interview didn't commence till 1pm. Seated in the waiting room were 10 other candidates making us 11 altogether. They said it was 15 minutes for each candidate. I noticed that each time a candidate came out of the interview room, the person had frustration written all over them. (The waiting room was a glass house so we could see those passing by)
I was curious on what sort of questions were being asked but interviewed candidates were not allowed back into the waiting room. Candidate no5 was the worst hit. He was practically dragging his feet and nodding his head disappointedly as he walked past. I had to sneak out to meet him at the lobby. "Please, how was it?" I asked. He just looked at me and said, "Oniranu. Very yeye man! How can they ask me the effect of cashless policy on naira devaluation just because I had a 2.1 in banking?" He said it was a 2-man panel and I should be wary of the dark skinned man who was the devil incarnate. Then he gave me his file jacket to hold briefly that he needed to locate their toilet urgently. He was probably purging cos I see no reason he could not hold on till he got home . While I waited for him, the man that ushered us in caught me by the lobby. He was mad that I left the waiting room before I was called and instructed me to go into the interview room immediately even though I insisted it wasn't my turn yet. I tucked no5 file jacket into my handbag and went in, hoping that I would be out by the time he returns from the toilet.
I recognised the alleged devil as soon as I got in. "Please sit.", the light skinned man (LS) said while his devil colleague sized me up from feet to head. He didn't even respond when I greeted him. After the usual, "can we meet you?", "what do you know about our company?'' "Why did you apply for this job?" questions of which I answered to the best of my knowledge , the LS man asked me, "Tell us what is happening in NIGERIA.'' All along I kept wishing the devil man will continue playing deaf and dumb till I was out. I talked about the forthcoming elections. LS man was really jovial and I was pleased the interview was towing the way of a conversation with a friend. He told me he's pro PDP and asked which political party I belonged to. I'm in support of neither but the goal is to please your interviewer so I said I'm an avid supporter of PDP too. "See my person o." He said excitedly. "You need to see what a PDP governor has done in my state." "Which state Sir?" "AkwaIbom." "Oh Governor Akpabio. That man is awesome. He's totally transformed Uyo. Their stadium is a stunner!" "Not just Uyo, everywhere in the state." "I once bought a movie ticket for N100 at Silverbird Uyo, are tickets still sold that price?" I asked. "I don't watch movies. So you've been to my town?"
I was trying to ensure our conversation does not cross our friendly threshold throughout the 15mins duration and by the time he realises I had tricked him into asking me frivolous questions, it will be too late to ask further questions except, "When can you resume?" All along, the amala-faced man was staring at me like a wounded lion, patiently waiting for me to mess up. LoL. Suddenly, the sound of music filled the air. "Shoki Shoki Shoki ah! Shoki Shoki Shoki ah! I'm looking for my..."
Both of them looked puzzled and the smile on the LS man face faded. I was confused as to where the music was coming from. "Young lady, are you looking for a job or you're looking for shoki?" Devil finally spoke. "Excuse me?" I asked. The music began again. "How dare you come into an interview room without switching off your phone!" He roared. It then occurred to me that it was no5 phone ringing inside my bag. It had destabilised me and the atmosphere and I dug my right hand into my bag, searching frantically for the power button of the phone. "Just look at her Mr Eyibo! Look at her! All of them are the same!" Devil said as he slammed his hands on the table ferociously. Mr Eyibo was defenceless. "I'm taking over from here!" Devil said authoritatively. "Young lady, what are you bringing into this company?" "Ermmm..." I stuttered. Panic had made me dumb. "Young lady, I say gauge your attributes and tell us your unique contributions to the growth and continued success of this company?" He shook his head. "How will you demonstrate integrity and command respect in tough situations as a team member?" I was just in my seat like, 'Sir, you can vex oh. Instead of you to just tell me there's no job.' "Call the next person in." He said dismissively. The LS man had sorry written over his face . . .
No5 was full of apologies when I told him everything but the damage had already been done. Dude currently sends me links of every vacancy he finds online as if that is enough compensation. Good thing he got a regret mail too or we would have been wearing one leg of trousers. I'm still job hunting..
http://naijasinglegirl.com/how-shoki-song-cost-me-my-job/ i empathise with you. the ring tone was SHOKI(summary in yoruba). it only reminded you of the fact that you needed to summarize your interview as you had suddenly fallen in love with Akpabio's achievements and the interviewer's alleged card carrying membership of PDP next time you hear SHOKI ki n SHOKI...let it ring into your ear that it means (Summarize make I summarize). the caller was only being helpful to you. |

Above all Lord God almighty, let the person you ordained from the foundations of the earth to rule Nigeria in 2015 win the election. May Nigeria find greatness in this generation. he couldn't kill corruption when he had absolute power as military dictator, but think he can do it now as a constitutional president, what a joke!!!
first, buhari do not know how to fight corruption! supposing he did know, Nigeria would have been corrupt free by now, because buhari was once a head of state!
secondly, l prefer Gej's way of fighting corruption to that of buhari!
buhari believes in fighting corruption by jailing people with little or no care on the root cause!
while Gej on the other hand believes in building corrupt free system that can last even when he is no longer there!!
but unfortunately most Nigerians prefer action with no result,
for instant, do you know how many people buhari would have sent to jail because of fertilizer scam without solving the problem itself! but Gej came in change the corrupt system that have been there for years even to the time of buhari, But now it is impossible for corrupt people to operate with the new system without making too much noise about it. your write up shows you eat and drink corruption. how on earth would you compare both machineries. GEJ promised to fight corruption with TECHNOLOGY yet he has refused the use of card readers for election. who is deceiving who? don't worry you won't bother travelling out of naija....oyinboz go begin kom hia wen decency sets in wallahi if nigeria does not kill kwaraption, kwaraption would kill nigeria(GMB, 2015) |
