Business / 5 Ways Bootstrapping Can Lead To Success In Business by magazineguy(m): 8:14am On Jan 08, 2018
Starting a business requires capital which entrepreneurs sometimes find hard to raise. If you ever find yourself struggling to meet up with the financial requirement of venturing into a business, it’s not the end of the road as there is an alternative – Bootstrap. Bootstrapping is simply the struggle of carrying out the day to day activities involved in the running of a business especially a startup on a low budget. The advantages of starting out in this way range from building confidence, learning new skills, minimizing losses to acquiring wider networking knowledge. Adopting the following ways will help your business to succeed while bootstrapping:

Efficiency

This deals with carrying out your daily activities and generating the best output at the least possible cost. Through this, an entrepreneur can also gain wider networking knowledge, improved selling skills and also generate new business ideas.

Learning from a mentor

A mentor who has had similar experiences will help you succeed and also suggest ways that your costs can be minimized and your output maximized.

Pick a job to raise fund

The best advice you can ever get as an entrepreneur is to do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do. Never write off working for someone else to raise fund for your business.

Use volunteers

There are certain persons who like volunteering in order to gain knowledge and experience. Welcome this set of people in your business while bootstrapping, foot their day to day running expenses, reward them when you make profit and convert them into your team members if your business stabilizes.

Network

From networking, referrals, partners and other opportunities are easily accessible. Information is very easy to get when you are constantly in touch with people who have significant impact in the business environment.

Literature / Tobi – A Fiction Story By Precious Igbinogun by magazineguy(m): 10:29am On Jan 06, 2018
The day Tobi bought your wedding gown, you could not wait, you just had to try it on even though the heavy rain had caught up with you. It was a year after your NYSC and he had proposed. Perhaps it would break his heart if he saw you with another man. That was a moment you never saw coming.

***************

“Fisayo, please bear my last name”

“It’s about time Tobs”

You starred at the engagement ring and you could not explain the euphoria that came there after. Your mother was not happy, it was joy, pure joy and happiness. It was too plain a word to describe the way she felt.

That day, your friends crowded your room. Some were happy for you, some wished they were you, and some, oh well, they stayed to have something to talk about. It was Maybelle, your best friend that was askance from the onset, but everyone knew Maybelle, she was proudly a pessimist. She never dated anyone and she clearly didn’t want you to do so either, but you brushed aside the thought. Afterall you recall she also had a secret crush on Tobi, only hers faded after a while.

***************

Back then everyone wanted to be close to Tobi. He was a barrister and was excellent in land law matters; Adeleye Solicitors never lost a case. It was what they were known for.

Tobi had an aura around him that made him lovable. He was wealthy, yet quiet. He never talked about himself save when asked. He made himself noisy by being extremely quiet. His, was a totally different world. That was the same Tobi that kept stalking you, the one who paid your mother’s medical bills when she had her fibroid operation, the one who paid for your groceries, and you wondered why the cashier refused to accept your money, the one who paid your school fees and paid your late registration fees, the one who covered your father’s debt after his gambling took another turn, the one who became the father of the house after your father walked away leaving no tangible reason and the one who did all these and choose to remain anonymous until after several months. It was he who now wanted to be your boyfriend.

It felt surreal and it gradually registered. You were the envy of most girls. You could begin with the thought of being called Fisayo Adeleye, or the family prestige, or the gifts he lavished on you, but you choose instead to think of the wedding day, although a two day affair, but it would be attended by those who you don’t even know. It was Tobi’s wedding after all.

The wedding came so fast, your mother made sure you didn’t lift a finger, she made sure everything was in place. All you had to do was bask in the euphoria of the moment. Your brother Seun walked you down the aisle, it brought tears to your eyes because it made you recall your absentee father.

The decoration at St.Micheal’s catholic church was everything and more. You could barely recognize your own church premises. You held Micheal’s hand with your sweaty fingers but this was different, it was the confusion that brought the sweat. The groom was supposed to be at the altar, waiting for the bride and not the other way round.

The priest assured you to wait a while, you were informed that Tobi’s number was switched off. Your heart was full, it suddenly became clear, did you move too fast? it was then it dawned on you that Tobi never talked about his personal life, the fully air conditioned church became unbearably hot, as you tried to imagine where he could be. You looked for something to hold, but found nothing, you didn’t want anyone to hold you because you didn’t want to believe you had been abandoned at the altar. But still, you held on to nothing. You ran out of the church, your mother ran after you. Your brother was concerned about what this act would do to your mental state.

He could have at least told you his plans from the beginning, so you won’t bother going the church in the first place instead of allowing you face this embarrassment all alone. This act of his, was the unintended consequence of the relationship. It was two weeks later, when you finally switched on your phone that you saw his message, and at that moment, it felt like you lost your ability to reason, you starred at the phone screen over and over again before deleting his message that read: “Fisayo, I could not make it to the wedding because my wife didn’t let me leave the house.”

***************

Quiet and subtle Tobi was married with kids. There was no need looking for what to hold this time around, you were meant to hold what was inside you. Your heart that broke into a thousand pieces.

Health / What You Should Know About Diarrhea And How To Manage It by magazineguy(m): 3:39pm On Jan 04, 2018
With aggravating manner in hygiene and sanitation, infectious diseases are likely to string up in a large population, but it is best assured than none of these will be lewd than diarrhea. Often times, we are moved with the frivolities of pampering ourselves with ‘delicious’ and ‘sweet’ foods without cautious steps in preventing future alimentary issues.

In the words of Wiktionary English 2.3, Diarrhea is a condition in which there is frequent and watery bowel movement. If a person has three liquid stools in a row, it is a cue that calls for concern and probably a bigger warning of dehydration. Dehydration – the loss of excessive water from the body might result in chemical imbalances that can threaten one’s life.

There are numerous cases of diarrhea on a daily basis. It is a common condition even though there are no statistics to it simply because patients have found to manage it by mere procrastination or self-medication. Diarrhea may go away on its own by restricting your patient to clear fluids and avoiding solid food for some time. It is also advisable to keep the patient on a 12-hour restriction to external diets capable of stirring up the condition.

Nevertheless, there are some indications that may arise needless of diarrhea and show signs of an unknown and a more serious ailment. These indications include:

A temperature of above 38˚C
Blood or mucus in the stool
Abnormal abdominal distension
Black or any other colour of stool
Severe vomiting
Severe diarrhea and dehydration lasting to 3 days.
All these above may be signs of appendicitis, intestinal bleeding or even liver dysfunctional. More so, all of the above will be evident when there is difficulty in retaining fluid balances.

Epidemics caused by organisms that cause diarrhea have been a part of the human life since long before recorded history. Cholera is one particularly dangerous disease that was epidemic in the past and has continued being a menace in recent times. This infection will produce a profuse watery diarrhea with abdominal pain. Although there is a vaccination, it is not very effective; therefore, it is safe not to recommend it at all.

The end result (and most common cause of death) of untreated diarrheal illness is dehydration. A large proportion of body’s weight is made up of water; the average adult requires 2 to 3 liters of fluid per day to check and balance irregularities. Children become dehydrated more easily than adults: An estimated figure of 4 million children die every year in underdeveloped countries from dehydration due to diarrhea and other causes.

There are different ways to combat dehydration. A major method is by fluid replacement. This is by using clear fluids especially water and broth. Gelatin and Gatorade are also utilized.

After this option, there are more effective ways. Although unnoticed, Oral Rehydration salts are commercially available but it is possible to produce homemade rehydration salts in small or large quantities depending on factors seen in choice, severity and tolerance. To a liter of water, Add:

Few spoons of sugar
Two spoons of salt
Half teaspoon of normal salt (might be potassium chloride)
A pinch of baking soda
Note: It is wise to stay away from milk as some are lactose intolerant.

A popular technique to ensure quick recovery from dehydration is the BRAT diet, commonly used in cases relating to children. This diet contains:

Banana
Rice
Applesauce
Toast [usually plain]
An added edge of this over other methods is that the food items are bland, which will slow down intestinal motility. This will decelerate diarrhea and ultimately, dehydration.

Sports / Can We Start Another Football Season Already? by magazineguy(m): 8:27am On Jan 04, 2018
It’s just half-way to the football season and we can say the season is over already. Do not let my reasoning cloud your judgment. It is as though we are in the World Cup already. As for me, I am thinking about Russia, right now.

We expected tough tests for the reigning champions in European leagues. The way it is going, the top leagues will go into the World Cup with new champions. It is now a popularity contest and the polls are complete.

Manchester City finished the football season on a high note but Pep Guardiola could not match his record of 19 wins. No side could match the excellent records by the English side as they went on to smash the record of consecutive wins previously shared by Chelsea and Manchester United. City could not end the year with a win as they were held by a resilient Crystal palace side in the last day of 2017. The Manchester side has been in great shape both on and off the pitch nicking wins maximum points against fellow rivals Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. The road could be clear if they get to chop points off these teams in the reverse fixtures in 2018. Pep’s signings were magnificent and are getting the job done every match day.

The La LIga produced some remarkable results and kicked off banters between fans of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Real Madrid had a slothful start to the season and it was punishable as Barcelona got proceedings started on a high note beating arch-rivals, Real Madrid 3 goals to nil in December. The result will put further pressure on Zidane -time is ticking and the board wants results. Ronaldo is having the worst start to a regular season in years and Karim Benzema is showing signs of an end of the “BBC” era. Bale has been on the transfer market every day of the 2017 with reports linking him with a move back to England. With all these, Barcelona might have just won the league if they keep up with the momentum in 2018.

Up across Europe, Paris Saint Germaine are doing exploits after massive recruitments of Neymar and Mbappe in the summer of 2017. The two have been the faces of the league and PSG are ready to reclaim the French title. The French outfits have enjoyed moments in the Champions league, also.

In Germany, the sea has been calm for Bayern Munchen since Henckyes came out of retirement to save them from the misery of the Ancelotti regime. The german side will be looking forward to winning consecutive league titles in as many football season.

Career / Five Ways You Are Using Social Media Wrong by magazineguy(m): 9:50am On Jan 03, 2018
Using social media is one of the most efficient and cost effective ways of getting your name and brand extensive visibility and awareness. Just think of companies that went from zeros to heroes by simply effectively leveraging on the different social media platforms. But of cause, you know this already isn’t it?

Yea, thus, I wouldn’t spend time trying to teach you how to use social media as I am sure a number of you are on two or three or four social platforms. Instead, I’d be pointing the things you are doing wrong.

Let’s get right into it.

You are using social media wrong if you are inconsistent or a spammer: A lot of people fall between posting too much and posting too little on social media, either way, you are wrong. If you really want social media to be a sales or lead generation channel for your business, then you shouldn’t post every once in awhile, rather you must post consistently. No! Consistency doesn’t mean post 5x in a day (if you aren’t Krakz TV and the likes), consistency just means not too much that you spam them, but well enough that they don’t forget you. So as a brand, 1-3 posts every day on Facebook and Instagram works well, but of course, you would have to do more on Twitter, because it is a lot easier to get lost in the poll of tweets.

You are using social media if it is always about you: No Shades! But you are not that awesome. Ever heard the saying – your customers do not care about you until they know you care? It is very true. Your followers want to connect with you. They want to see posts on your page that educate, enlightens, inspires and or entertains them. Businesses thrive on Relationship and the content you put out on Social Media is what ignites or puts off the relationship. So, use the 80/20 principle more often, focus more on your target audience and less than your product or service. Once you can gain their attention and heart, buying from you is no longer a problem.

You are using social media wrong if you do not respond to comments: Remember that we just learned about focusing on content that ignites connection with your followers? Well, another way to do this is to reply comments. Your post can ignite the fire, but responding to a comment would fan that flame, it could start a conversation that could go on later to be the foundational block in a relationship. But yeah, your comment replies do not have to be that deep if the person’s comment itself isn’t worth it, but a little, ‘thanks for commenting or well said or lol’ can go a long way in getting someone to be a regular engager on your account.

You are using social media wrong if you post the same thing across board: If you are not optimizing your content to fit the different social media platforms in terms of image dimensions, use of hashtag and type of content, then you are definitely using social media the wrong way. I understand that it is a lot of easier to create one content and just copy and paste it across board, but easier isn’t always the best option. These social media platforms were built with different ideas in mind and believe or not, people actually use them differently. Thus, your content should be tweaked to fit bespoke-ly to each platform. Use the right image dimensions, do not use hashtags on Facebook the way you use them on Twitter and Instagram. Each platform has unique features that you can utilize in tweaking the same content to fit each platform – Use Stories feature of Instagram, Create Events on Facebook, Use Twitter Polls to drive engagement, Join LinkedIn Groups etc. Run a tweetchat on Twitter; use multiple posts on Instagram to share an event sequence or story. Even if you have the same end-goal for your content across social media, you should definitely optimize it for each platform’s characteristics and strengths.

You are using social media wrong if you are using social media in isolation: Your social media marketing should not be done in isolation. Ensure that it is integrated with your website, all your communication channels and your overall marketing efforts. Also ensure that all your SM accounts are in one way or the other in sync and linked to each other so people can follow you seamlessly on different platforms (a great way to do this, is to ensure your handle is uniform to the letter across board). Social Media is serious business, treat it as such. It should more than just a place to gain popularity, it should bring sales. So ensure it does.

A little note for individuals;

-You are using social media wrong if you are being extremely shy, antisocial and not using the opportunity to network, connect, gain value and add value.

-You are definitely using social media wrong if you are sliding into Dms with no respect. Stop sending random people (girls) messages saying ‘ello Pretti’. If you would slide, then slide with courtesy. Use a line that would grab attention and give you a certain perception and persona at first glance.

Celebrities / NINIOLA: The Afro-house Powerhouse & Leading Female Artiste In Nigeria [photos] by magazineguy(m): 10:00am On Jan 02, 2018
Imagine carefully searching your room for a precious item and after putting hours into the search effort, only for you to find the gem lying in the most unlikely corner of the room. In a similar scope, Nigerian music lovers have long been in search of a songstress who doesn’t only possess the vocal ability of songbirds but one that can harness the gift to make unique musicals to the delight of the consumers of the music.

The search for something so precious and hard to find in a field as wide as the Nigerian music industry, can be an exhausting exercise. Over the years, a lot of female singers have appeared on the scene looking like the real deal, with good vocal ability, carriage, purses full of currency, pretty faces and the divaness of Beyoncé that has now become almost necessary in becoming a star songstress these days. However, it is surprising how singers hold such promise often fall off faster than they rose.

These are singers who at the threshold of their music careers, were likened to music greats like Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Celine Dion and the likes, but the music careers of a lot of these prospects never really take flight. Even with the wealth of talents and resources available to some of these starlets, they manage to start off well but often run off steam in a short time. This is another pointer to the fact that becoming a star takes more than just having talent, resources and good looks, even though these features are sometimes necessary.

While it seemed like the search for a standout songstress had no near end, Niniola appeared from an unlikely direction, showing huge promise and appearing to be the “worth paying attention to.” She came from the long line of talent show alumnae that has produced more unfulfilled musical acts than the number of successful ones. Having participated in the 2013 edition of MTN Project Fame, where she was in competition with the likes of Olawale, Immaculate Dache and Johnny Drille of Mavin Records. She wasn’t exactly the first choice for a breakout star. Because looks can be deceiving, a number of other contestants would have been tipped to rise to prominence, ahead of her.

Niniola didn’t finish in first place at the show, she didn’t leave with the prize money and she missed out on the SUV that would have made her mobility easier. Her biggest loss at the time was the recording deal that she never got. However, Nini left the show with her talent polished, her determination sharpened and her focus directed at the bigger prize. Nini left MTN Project Fame 2013 as a diamond in the rough. She spent her early Project Fame days exploring different sounds and rhythms, moving in and out of studios, searching for a sound that she understands totally, a sound she could call her own, a sound she believes the world should listen to. Her search took her to the studio of Sarz, and there in Sarz’s studio, the eureka moment came, and along with it came the idea of Afro-house music.

From his wealth of experience, Sarz was certain that Nigerians would love the Afro-house genre and Nini knew from the first sound of it, that the genre would stand her out from the gathered crowd around Afro-Pop. So the duo recorded and released Ibadi and it struck the fans as a fine genre that has long been unheard. Follow up tracks like Start All Over and co., drew more attention to the uniqueness of the sound from Nini. She continued to benefit from the production contribution of Sarz and ODH, and with the guidance of her team, Niniola went from being a ‘rough diamond’ to claiming a spot in the galaxy of stars. She released Shabba and the industry forces unanimously wore her a crown bearing the “Queen of Afro-house” title.

Lording over the Afro-house music genre is a success that Nini seems to enjoy so much but she continually looks beyond her territory to conquer new grounds and spread her influence even further. From being only the star figure of a relatively new genre, Niniola rose to the upper crust of the industry with the release of Maradona. The song did more for the Afro-house music genre and Niniola as an artiste, than most of her previous works. The number of airplays, the massive club rotations and the acclaim gotten by the song are telling signs that Nini’s genre, Afro-house music has become too big a material to be kept in a corner of the industry. Maradona is one of the industry’s biggest songs in 2017 and it is believed to be the biggest musical offering from a female artiste in the year.

Clearly, the acceptance of Nini’s Afro-house music has helped it outgrow the peripheral position it used to occupy. Her genre is on its way to settling in a more central position, especially in the industry’s female section, where her Maradona is the leading song. The astonishing success of Maradona and the impressive reception of Sicker shows that Nini’s chancy adventure is paying off. Her afro-house music is the new market product and it is changing the music consumption pattern in its favour. Her music is currently raking in high digital numbers, attracting the interest of foreign investors whose dollar-filled briefcase has changed hands in an international publishing deal that would facilitate the exportation of Nini’s music to other parts of the world, while of course the investors are getting interest on their money – Nini’s Afro-house is that big a commodity now.

Unsurprisingly, Nini’s development as an artiste has been in constant relation with the growth of the genre. From the humble beginnings of entering the Nigerian music industry as a talent show evictee, to creating a music synergy with the incredible Sarz and with good brains handling her business affairs, Niniola has now become a major force in the female section of the industry. Nini’s debut album This is me, is set to write a introductory chapter for Afro-house music in Nigeria. Music critics are looking to weigh the impact of the album, fans want more of the Afro-house product that they have been enjoying recently and Nini would be looking at the album as a means to bring the world to the understanding that her genre is not just a short-term sensation but something to be imbibed into the music culture across Africa. Nini has chosen the path of an outlier whose exploits in the area genre diversification is earning her reverence. Like Fela is idolised for creating Afrobeat, Asa is revered for reforming Afro-Soul music to become an everyday consumable, Nini is decongesting the Afro-pop traffic in the industry with her ingenious Afro-house music.

Business / Why The 9 To 5 Life Sucks For Some Of Us by magazineguy(m): 9:22am On Jan 02, 2018
Quote: The 9-5 life is a tree, and I’m a fish who can’t climb them.

We despise the endless routine and do not understand the need for strict workplace norms. We really hate wearing those formals to work; we prefer working in casual, comfortable clothes. We do not want to sit on a desk for 8/9 hours and then go home to eat and sleep.

Sometimes, we honestly do not feel the need to get on a long commute to work when we can actually get the job done working from home. We easily get distracted, exhausted and mentally drained just having to unnecessarily interact with too many people in a day.

We do not like the fact that our bosses tend to micro manage us sometimes; we do not enjoy the attention of that nosy coworker who wants to always have shallow conversations with us. And no, we cannot stand the annoying colleague who constantly shuts the lids of our laptops in a bid to get us to take breaks from work.

Don’t worry. There’s nothing wrong with you if you feel this way, and there are more of your kind. The creatives especially. Humans are different, and a good number of them are simply not built or tailored to survive the endless dynamics of working a 9-5 job.

This is not to say there aren’t great places to work where people love their jobs; in fact, a lot of startups are beginning to adopt better work cultures today. But ultimately, you do not need to be a genius to realize and agree that the 8/9 hour work duration doesn’t make sense given the human brain was not designed for it and we are now in a knowledge economy as opposed to an industrial one which dominated the 1960s.

The 8-hour work day was a byproduct of the industrial revolution; working in a factory was not cognitively demanding or deep work. So, companies that maximized production that had people work as long as they could without physical harm made sense. But the industrial revolution ended more than 50 years ago and we are a lot smarter now. I bet.

Whether they be physically or cognitively demanding tasks, most people tend to perform their best either in the earlier part of the day (i.e. larks) or in the later part of the day (i.e. owls). These individual differences are rooted in our bodies unique biological rhythms- when various hormones associated with energy and focus are released, and when our body temperature rises and falls. — Steve Magness.

Maybe we were built to create, to be free of the nearly compulsory daily 8/9 hour onsite work routine. Maybe we are more likely to come up with genius ideas and solutions between the hours of 9:00pm – 5:00am and not 9:00am – 5:00pm. Maybe we have been ordained with a life time mission to create valuable products and services that a Day jobs would not necessarily allow us focus on developing.

Just maybe.

When you look around you, you see how a bunch of (un)happy people constantly counting days until the next weekend, holiday and annual leaves simply because the majority of us are busy exchanging time for money instead of money for time.

This one is for the minority of us who deem it impossible to exist in rigid working conditions as this, I hope we find our balance and purpose and we fulfill our dreams and ambitions with time.

Business / Meet Bobby Taylor, A Successful Nigerian Luxury PR Expert by magazineguy(m): 1:48pm On Dec 27, 2017
For many brand owners, it is a thing of joy to celebrate 10 years of operations and much more joyful when these years have been filled with so much successes and growth. From a small room in her house to a befitting office space in the heart of Lagos Island, Bukky Dabiri-Whyte has grown her brainchild – The Bobby Taylor Company to becoming one of the leading PR agencies in Nigeria representing several luxury brands. Starting at a young age of 25, Bukky came in at a time PR was left for the big companies and against all odds, she is still kicking and more better 10 years after. In a quick chat with Behind Magazine, she discussed her journey through these years, the PR industry in Nigeria, the opportunities and her plans for expansion.

How did PR start for you?

I schooled in the US, worked for a while and then I moved to Canada to start a family. I actually registered my company in Canada in the year 2007, operated there for a while and we started getting a lot of Nigerians contacting us which is when I moved it to Nigeria.

Did you have any prior experience in PR before starting up your company?

I worked majorly in universities and corporate America. PR is something I have always been involved with right from when I was a child and then while in school; my mum was also a PR practitioner, so I grew up understanding PR though I never thought of turning my hobby into a business.

What’s your take about the PR industry in Nigeria at the moment?

The PR industry is evolving, there are more PR agencies springing up and virtually everybody is looking for PR these days. Presently, it is a vibrant industry and I believe in a few years to come, PR would be the hottest career. At the time I started, nobody knew what I was doing; we had agencies back then but they were really the big guys and they were more into marketing and advertising. I was amongst the first few independent publicists/PR agencies.

Literature / ‘I Got Your Man As My Christmas Present’ – Fiction Story By Sandra by magazineguy(m): 10:00am On Dec 27, 2017
I lay in bed with my bestie, Rosefine as she chatted and gisted me about her man and how they were planning to go Dubai for the Christmas break. We had bought some new magazines and went internet surfing for the finest place one could chill for the season. She was a social media freak like myself and had bragged about her Dubai travel with her boo. She had so flaunted her boo on the gram that one would think they were married already. Her man Gregory was the finest man I have ever come across with – dark-skinned and tall; He was gentle, cheerful, ambitious and very intelligent and most importantly very rich. They had met at a friend’s birthday party that she was never invited to and trust my friend to always be on the look out for the ‘big fish.’

‘May. Maygood ooooooo.’ Rosefine screamed!

‘Hmmmm. Sorry. . . . . ‘

‘Where did your mind go?’

‘Sorry. I . . . . . . .’ I stammered.

‘Whatever. I was saying that we should surf for the biggest shopping mall in Dubai where I can buy all the best designers wears. Who knows? Maybe, Greg is going to propose’ her mouth opened in awe and excitement.

I grinned ‘Lucky girl. You sure have those beautiful fantasies in your head.’

‘Common now’ she said, as she started shaking her butt in excitement.

I laughed out loud. ’She is one of a kind.’ I thought.

***************

I was dressed for our friend’s boutique opening. Stephanie was one of my newest friend who I met through Rosefine while we were out shopping. Rosefine had just started dating Greg and he was spoiling her. She had bought very expensive things which she was going to flaunt on the gram and I guessed Stephanie approached her because of her expensive items. They had clicked immediately and she had made it known to us that she was planning to open her boutique soon.

I looked into the mirror and admired my thigh-red gown paired with gold heels and accessories. I had gone for a ponytail style and had my makeup done. Everyone wanted to flaunt and live the gram style. Rosefine had agreed to come pick me up as just as I expected she was dressed to outshine everyone.

‘Wow, your dress looks so beautiful and wait, I thought Greg was coming with you.’ I said.

‘If Greg was coming with me, I wont have bothered to come pick you up and thanks for the compliment’ she grinned.

‘Oh’ well, that came out bad. She never invited me to any event she and Greg were attending, not like I cared.

***************

Stephanie’s event was glamorous and too outshining. She had invited some gossip and smile-faked friends to the event. We all took turns chatting, taking pictures, buying some clothes and giving everyone and anyone else dry and smile-faked faces. Rosefine had hooked up with a guy who was a celebrity fashion designer and very masculine in every way. One could tell he had very good sex drives. They had exchanged numbers and here I am tushing up her ‘makeup’ for her date with Mac-Hill Richard.

‘Your good to go. You look very beautiful’ I smiled.

‘Hmmmm. Thank you. Don’t ask me what went down when I am back’ she laughed.

I was wondering what she had told Greg where she was going to spend her night. Maybe as usual, she had told him she was going to sleep over at my place. And of course, as a loyal friend, I am ever ready to back her up. This Christmas season was bubbling for Rosefine while I was here ‘Single and Happy but Bothered.’

I needed to go out, Maybe take some fresh air and breathe the life of a single lady. Well, I should also wear my best outfit too.

I confidently walked into a fancy jewelry shop; not really looking for something to buy but just to feed my eyes.

‘May?’ A voice over me asked.

I turned round and Greg was standing right before me, surprised. ‘I thought you are suppose to be at an event with Rosie. . . . ‘ He looked round, still surprised.

‘Emmmm…..’ I swallowed. An idea should come into my head right now. ‘I. . . .I decided not to go with Rosie cuz I lost my IV and I also needed to shop for some new accessories’ I faked a smile ‘What are you doing here?’

‘Oh. Here, I wanted to buy this for Rosie, I wanted to surprise her with these’

He showed me a glittering expensive silver necklace ‘So beautiful’ I cried.

What was I even still doing here and what brought me here in the first place? Yes I know, I had sighted Gregory from the cab and didn’t know what pushed me into the jewelry shop pretending I wanted to buy something too. I should run home now!

‘Are you done shopping too? I can give you a ride!’

I smiled ‘Okay. Thanks.’

***************

I lay in the comfort of my bed smiling and giggling to myself. The night was going to be a long one as I thought of my conversation with Greg. He had such good spirit and so cheerful; Why would Rosefine do that to Greg. So bad of her, I thought. I should call him to know if he arrived home safely. You shouldn’t be thinking of how I got his number; afterall, I was Rosefine bestie.

‘Hey’ The voice over the phone calmly said.

‘Are you still on the road’ I asked, surprised.

‘You wont believe this. I made a U-turn to buy some earrings. What’s a necklace without a fitting earrings but to be honest, I have no idea of the type of earrings that would match’

I laughed hard. ‘You are so funny. Don’t worry, Let me come over and help you select the finest ones.’

I hung up immediately and stopped a cab straight back to the jewelry shop. I had changed to a casual thigh gown and put on extra makeup and perfume. He was going through the sets of jewelries when I arrived, I helped him select the best earrings that fits the necklace he bought.

‘Wow, you are good, That’s smart. Well, I am going to compensate you by buying you one.’ He smiled.

‘Let’s have dinner too. The night is still young’ I laughed jokingly.

He shrugged and accepted the offer. We talked, chatted and laughed as I kept initiating new topics to get us going; I was so good at that.

Okay, this is it and I guess it’s okay to say it. I ended up in his house, half-drunk, on his bed and very eyed opened as I moaned in the sensation of the night pleasure.

***************

‘I think you should tell Rosefine. I won’t tell her myself.’ I said.

‘What?’

‘What is what? Are you going to break up with her? Greg, I am not going to look into your eyes again and pretend everything is okay when we see again. You should tell her or I will. Its easier not to battle with your emotions. I would see you again later this evening’ I said.

I was furious at myself and at him too. This wasn’t a game. Rosefine needed to know what happened. If she wanted to fall on an emotional roller coaster; She could rely on ‘Mac-Hill Richard’. I was going to tell her anyway.

‘You bitch! Back-stabbing bitch!’ She yelled at me.

I kept my composure, I should be yelling too. It was a fair game!

‘You have always wanted him right? I always knew it. You have always been jealous of me! Bitch! So you want us to break up right? So you can have him?’ She kept screaming. If there was a bottle around her, she could have hit my head with it!

‘I think that’s the best thing to do’ I said, calmly. She attacked me, I wasn’t going to go down again as we fell on-top each other, biting, cursing, grabbing and pounding. We were exhausted when we pulled out, I grabbed my bag and left.

Celebrities / Burnaboy And Wizkid Are The Artists That Can Give Me What I Want -Tinsel Actress by magazineguy(m): 10:35am On Dec 20, 2017
They say passion drives progress which brings success. This is exactly the story of Yemisi Fancy, a law graduate of UNILAG who chose her passion over a career in law. The Tinsel actor and energetic singer sat with us and shared more about her story in this interview below;

Let’s meet you

My name is Yemisi Fancy; I am an actor and also a music artiste. I have a background in law and I just recently started exploring my music side. I’m a very creative person and I hope to explore my creativity to the fullest.

What was your childhood like?

I was a shy person as a kid and even couldn’t dance in front of people. But deep within I knew I could do these things. I joined the drama and dance groups while in secondary school but it was basically for fun until in 2006, when I joined a dance group outside of school and it became more interesting. I remember while I was in UNILAG, I led the cultural dance group that performed during my faculty week and people thought I was a professional dancer. Funny enough I was battling crowd fear even at that time.

Tell us about your acting career

I am currently on Tinsel playing the Helen character. I auditioned for the role in 2012 and got it but it was pretty much an on/off thing until 2013 when I became regular. They needed a female character that could act, sing and dance. I played this perfectly and since 2013, I have been regular on the show.

Which act[s] would you love to work with?

Definitely Burna Boy and Wizkid. They are the only artists I am certain will give me what I want on a song.

Art, Graphics & Video / Meet Ken Nwadiogbu, A 3-D Hyper Realist by magazineguy(m): 7:41am On Dec 19, 2017
Art in Nigeria has come a long way. From being looked down upon, the Nigerian artist has come to be viewed as someone with great worth and value. In this interview, Ken Nwadiogbu shares not just his experience as a Nigerian artist, but also, his journey so far.

TM: Let’s meet you

Ken: I am Ken Nwadiogbu, from Anambra state. I am a rare visual artist. My works are way different from what you see on a normal day. I call myself a 3-D hyper realist. The idea is to create a three dimensional illusion on a two dimensional surface or space. So what I do is, on a paper, which is a two dimensional surface, I create depth on it and then it starts looking so real. I am also a student of the University Of Lagos, studying civil engineering, and I am in my final year.

TM: Why the switch from Civil engineering to Visual art?

Ken: Art has always been my passion, but passion and Nigerian parents cannot be in a sentence. Also, the society as it was 10 years ago, did not favour the artist, but now it is improving. You have a better society now in the art world unlike before. But in those days, an artist was someone on the road side who sold his work for about five thousand Naira or ten thousand Naira, but a civil engineer with Julius Berger and the rest, there was a huge gap.

TM: When did your journey into art begin?

Ken: I used to draw some works in secondary school, and my friend would take these works and sell them for ten Naira. Then, during my diploma days, I met a guy and saw his works, prior to then I was always drawing on my books or my notebooks, and I kept drawing everywhere. I was reading one night, and I saw this guy who was drawing the then Vice Chancellor and he was very good and then I said to myself that I had to do that. So I started to engage the guy and then he said to me “Dude go and read.“So I went online, started searching for works, artists and reading up a lot. I did not have any formal training; hence, most of my drawings are birthed by my experiences.

Literature / Miss Love Okon Is Your Role Model [18+] – Fiction Story by magazineguy(m): 8:24pm On Dec 18, 2017
The bedroom was mixed with a scent of strawberries and the breathe of papers that was carefully locked in a briefcase. Miss Love moaned softly as her sugar daddy rolled over her to the other side of the bed and heaved a happy sigh as he gently caressed her smooth laps.

‘You are so sweet dear’ He said as he continued caressing her. Love rolled over on top him and kissed him.

‘So Chief, I hope I am expecting the money you promised me today and you know you also promised to buy me a new car.’

‘My Love, you do not have a problem. I am writing you a cheque immediately and I would send my boys to deliver the car first thing tomorrow morning.’

‘Awww, how can you be so sweet. Thank you so much baby.’ Love kissed him again. Chief Lolade brought out his cheque book and issued her a cheque, She rolled out his pyjamas, held his dick and sucked it till he let a satisfied baby cry and fell into a loud-snoring deep sleep.

***************

Miss Love looked at herself in the mirror again as she admired her long yellow fitted gown; A perfect compliment to her natural fair skin. She was booked for a motivational speech which she was to deliver to a set of young aspiring entrepreneur youths. It was an award event organized by the youths and she had been nominated as the ‘Entrepreneur Woman Of The Year’; she deserved the award as she had dedicated her life to motivating and empowering youths, donating millions of money to youths with great business ideas to start up a business. She had also started a campaign ‘The Girl Life Movement’ which was powered to motivating young girls to a better life of education and career choice; This was made to teach them to be independent and strong future women.

‘You look very beautiful Miss Love.’ her PA complimented.

‘Awwww, all thanks to you though. See how perfectly the gown fits’ She said as she wiggled her shoulders; making her breast move.’ They both laughed.

‘Here is a copy of the write-up you asked for. I have added so many quotes from great scholars. Add 5% to my salary if you get a standing ovation’ her PA joked.

Love collected the speech and quickly scanned through it. She smiled.’Why do I have you as a PA. Thank you.’

The event went very well. Love presented her deep motivational speech to the attendees. It was so perfectly crafted that there was a loud standing ovation when she finished. And of course she won the award. She signed so many autographs and took pictures with her loyal fans.

***************

Love drove into a five star hotel. She had an appointment with a business mogul. He had a share in Real Properties World Estate and Love thought he was the right man to help fund her campaign. She had paid one of the social media PR’s to get his number and of course; She always knew the right words to say to get a ‘special appointment’. She was dressed in a tight fitted short red gown and had instructed her make-up artiste to add more shade plus glow on her face and since it was a night appointment, baring her cleavage was the right thing to do.

‘Hi. So nice to finally meet you in person. Mr Brandon’ She said

‘Same here.’

They were in a reserved and private spot which was well positioned for intimacy; and he had tactically not worn his ring.

‘Hmmmm. You have such good taste. I am wowed by your fine manliness.’ Miss Love said as she gently caressed his fingers that were resting on the table in an unconscious manner.

He smiled.

‘So, Lets talk business. I am sure you must have heard about my ‘Girl Life Movement’ on all the blogs online and offline too. Its my passion to help young creative girls to helping them grow to a better woman for the future.’ Love explained as she moved her hands to her cleavage.

‘That is a very beautiful idea and I am so proud of the woman you are becoming and the woman everyone wants to be like. You don’t have a problem Miss Love, I will give you 10% worth of my. . . . . . . . . .’

‘Say no more dear. Let’s go to the other side. I feel hot already.’ Love winked as she cuts him off.

The night was like any other night where two people benefited from each other. The only difference was that Love carted away with loaded money in the bank. Well, at least Mr Brandon enjoyed his dick being sucked, She thought!

***************

Love was booked and busy. Her ‘Girl Life Movement’ was on top notch. Every blog carried it on their site and her loyal fans and commentators blew kisses, complimented her and made her their role models. Every young girl and youth wanted to be like her. She had donated 10 whooping millions to funding 10 girls through secondary education, donated 5 million to 3 aspiring fashion designers to start up their work, paid 10 youths school fees in university, opened a bore hole at her home town and to crown it all, she bought an estate as she dived into estate management and land properties. She was a successful business woman and one could imagine the billions of money she had in her account. She won the ‘Future Women Awards’, ‘Woman Of The Year’, ‘Youth Ambassador Of The Year’ and graced the covers of several magazines. Her fellow women who were also trying to live a ‘gram life’ were bashed after evidences surfaced online about how they sleep around with men for money and paid abroad trips.

***************

Love was amused as she looked into her sugar daddy eyes.

‘Chief, Are you being serious? That I should marry you? That means I should become your second wife?’

‘Yes, whats wrong with that?’

Love laughed out loud. ‘I will never be a second wife Chief. Never! If you really want me to marry you then you should divorce your wife. Period!’ she yelled.

Chief Lolade was shocked but he couldn’t bear losing Love ’pussy power.’

Two months later, Love wrote a beautiful epistle of what love really is? And how age was nothing but a number. She poured out her heart, mind and her soul to ‘Love’ in the interviews she granted as she walked down the aisle with Chief Lolade. The wedding was the most celebrated event of the year as people started ‘Living in the Trend’ with age is nothing but a number. Her adorable fans and well wishers blessed her marriage and wished her a happy married life. Anyone who was against the marriage was bashed by her loyal fans; they didn’t want to hear anything negative about their Queen. Blogs also did not dare post anything negative about her to avoid being sued and taken down. Her name was Miss Love and it was all Love. They celebrated their honeymoon in one of the most expensive island in Spain.

Love gave out more to the community even as a married woman and took her time to visit schools and community homes. She donated to the needy and started another campaign ‘You Need Movement’ which was geared to helping the needy and providing a better environment for them. Her husband gifted her a private jet on her birthday and marveled at how strong and committed she was. She donated almost one hundred million to the community on her birthday and the internet was set in sensation as she was celebrated all over. She got pregnant for Chief Lolade and gave birth to a boy. What more can One ask for?

***************

It was a rainy day and Love was forced to stay in her hotel room. She had divorced Chief Lolade on the grounds of ‘moral trust’; nobody knew what it meant. She had explained how your emotions and your self worth clashes making you choke and at the end of the day you realise you need your space. She was granted 40% of Chief Lolade’s entire properties and was the owner of his biggest digital company. She was still celebrated and her loyal fans increased as they agreed with her that it was better to be happy. She and Chief Lolade had agreed to joint custody of their son.

She was now engaged to this new Spaniard. He was the co-founder of one of the leading auto-mobile companies in town. Her engagement was celebrated as people called them ‘couple goals of the year’ as Love kept flaunting their relationship activities on social media. He gifted her the latest car in town which she flaunted. She became the first celebrity to acquire the most cherished whip everyone wanted because the cost of the car can feed an entire state. To celebrate it, she gave out 20 different gadgets (Phones, Laptops, etc) to her 20 most loyal followers and sent one million naira to the account of her celebrated follower of 3 years. She became the most celebrated celebrity and her fan page grew. Don’t you dare come near their Queen or talk dirty about her! She was an idol that was worshiped by both male and female and all classes of the society. Every woman wanted to be like her!

***************

Her PA walked into the room;

‘I think I should break up with Luke and call off our engagement. There is just so much that is going through my head now. You have to go with your mind when its telling you not to go further again. I cant just do this anymore, it’s best I told Luke.’

Her PA sighed ‘I think you deserve to be happy’

She and Luke called off their engagement whilst she had previously made him sign 25% of his total worth. She donated 5% to the community that she was awarded ‘A Lifetime Legacy Award’ by Muse Life and graced the cover of BillBoard Life Magazine as the ‘Outstanding Personnel Of the Year.’

Her achievements in life were so much that an hashtag campaign started on her behalf #LoveOkonForPresident [Miss Love Okon for President]

Wow! That wasn’t a bad idea she thought as she lay in the comfort of a customized bed with her new rich sugar daddy lover by her side.

‘Come here baby.’ Miss Love giggled.

Business / 5 Habits Of Unsuccessful Entrepreneurs by magazineguy(m): 9:27am On Dec 18, 2017
Every success requires some level of discipline and sacrifices. We often wonder why it looks like luck always happen to some persons but in the reality what we see are always the manifestations of years of hard work, focus and discipline. There are always rules we follow if we must continue to exist as human beings, we avoid things that can harm us and embrace those that guarantee comfort and freedom. Entrepreneurship is not different and for one to succeed at it, the following habits should be avoided:

Quitting too early
When you set out for business, you will be challenged with difficulties and discouragements. If you lack self conviction, vision and focus, you can be easily discouraged into quitting. True entrepreneurs are always shaping and reshaping their strategies and also exploiting opportunities always.

Cheating
An entrepreneur who is always on the lookout for opportunities to short change his/her customers and partners is bound to fail woefully sooner or later. A lot of products have phased out of the market because their producers took advantage of those that patronized them by engaging in reduction of content or quality in order to gain more profit.

Not planning
Not planning is bad for entrepreneurship as it shows lack of direction and goals. Entrepreneurs who succeed are very good planners.

Not trusting others
When you are in business, you are suppose to lead and also be able to spot people who can deliver tasks, in the absence of trust for other and in their abilities, an entrepreneur will struggle alone to succeed. This habit can weaken a business in the absence of the founder.

Lack of creativity
Entrepreneurs with no creativity at all hardly go far. Creativity helps a business to stand out, generate more customers and dominate its market.

Fashion / Meet Adenike Adegboye, A Fashion Designer And Stylist by magazineguy(m): 1:20pm On Dec 16, 2017
When asked to describe herself, Adenike says she is a wearer of clothes and a lover of fashion. What she doesn’t mention is that she also designs and makes gorgeous clothes for women. Born in the 90’s to a family of five, Adenike took her first sewing lesson when she was 13, and hasn’t looked back since then. Sewing, which she tried her hands on initially to pass time, has now become her full-time profession. Adenike Adegboye is a Fashion Designer and Stylist. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Demure by ‘Denike, a ready to wear fashion brand.

Adenike gained her first degree in History and International Studies from Babcock University, Ogun State. Immediately after completing her NYSC, she traveled to Italy to study Fashion Design and Dressmaking at Istituto di Moda Burgo. After receiving her degree in 2016, she returned to Nigeria and started her clothing line. Demure by ‘Denike is an African clothing brand that makes Made to Measure, and Ready to Wear outfits for Women. The brand reflects its founder’s love for Nigerian (and African) traditions and cultures. With the clothes she makes, she aims to transform the old traditions and fabrics into trendy outfits.

In 2012, Adenike started her fashion and lifestyle blog where she shared her personal style, which she describes as “a whole mix of so many things – relaxed, effortless and androgynous”. She also shared beauty and style tips, fashion trends, and lifestyle columns. Content creation is hard work, and when Adenike started her clothing line, something had to give. By the end of 2016, she gave up fashion blogging to focus fully on fashion designing. However, her blog’s reader base would become a major part of the support she would receive when she would later release her first collection.

In May 2017, she released her debut Ready to Wear collection. The collection featured clothes made with a mixture of the traditional adire fabric, and contemporary fabrics. The collection was born to “create a fun and trendy way to wear Yoruba culture and heritage.” It is a wonderful mix of prints, textures and colors. The collection is currently stocked by online retailers, Femme by Yele, and Zuvaa marketplace.

Adenike’s creative process is simple, beginning from Demand to Inspiration, Design, Pattern Drafting, Sewing and ending with the Finished work. While music gets her in the zone when designing, Adenike finds that the best way to get unstuck creatively is to take a break and never force it.

She values customer satisfaction above all else, and says that her favorite part about being a designer is seeing the image in her head come to life. She wants women to feel like they’re making history while looking gorgeous when they wear her designs.

Adenike looks up to two Nigeria designers – Lisa Folawiyo and Maki Oh – and says that they have indirectly influenced her designs. In ten years, she sees herself and her brand making huge strides in fashion and putting African cultures, traditions and fabrics on the map. She also hopes to broaden her designs from just clothes to shoes, jewelry and accessories in the future.

Adenike’s designs are beautiful and refreshing, and we are rooting for her.

Celebrities / 5 Easy Steps To Become A Great Influencer by magazineguy(m): 8:34am On Dec 15, 2017
Thanks to the growth of social media and its participation with virtually most people in the world, we have not just been able to get a little bit closer to our favourite celebrities but most of us – regular individuals have gone on to become social media superstars, garnering for themselves a community of faithful’s who love the content they consistently dish out online. Creating for themselves a source of income and importance in our ever evolving and demanding world and becoming an influencer.

Most of these influencers who have grown their fan base have gone on to become a favourite with brands and have been smiling to the bank ever since without leaving the comfort of their homes or in our eyes, “doing much”. Some of these Nigerian influencers are – Maraji, Wofai Fada, Chief Obi, African Ape and the rave of the moment LASISI ELENU, who in my opinion is over commercialized but in this case, it’s a good thing – more money in the bank for him.

These influencers where once like us. Nobody’s, practically looking from the outside in but today they are celebrities making money doing what they love. How did they do this? And how have they grown to a community of over 500k followers on social media individually with brands practically begging to have them on board?

They used what they had, chose a niche, became consistent and became true to themselves.

Here are my top 5 steps on how to make it to the big league and become an influencer, raking in money in your sleep.

Find an Interest
Make sure you pick a field you love and make it your own. Whether it’s an interest with a lot of people interested in or one that just has a few people, own it and make it yours and push it with all the strength in your bone.

Consistency
Consistency is key. In a word that moves on quickly from yesterday’s news, you need to be in front and center with your audience. Always release your content on a given day of every week so that your community knows you are serious about your craft.

Content is Key
Not just any content will do, make it worth the watch or a click. When you create very good content, more people will come on board with your talent. Dedicate enough time and commitment to your content.

Audience
Your audience is your market, so make sure you please them or make them feel appreciated. Like, mentions and follow-backs are very key, especially in the early stages. Make sure you are as real and relatable as possible, never strive to be what you are not. Make sure your content is unique.

Promote your content
What good is your content if no one gets to see it?

Whatever effort you put in your content, double that effort to promote on social media. While doing this, make sure you pick a channel and go ham on it. Whether it’s TWITTER, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR YOUTUBE. Pick one and when you have started to gain traction, start with other channels and your followers will willing follow you on the rest. But first, pick one and go hard.

GOODLUCK.

Business / 5 Great Milestones Entrepreneurs Should Be Proud Of Achieving by magazineguy(m): 8:03am On Dec 11, 2017
In entrepreneurship, there are great achievements that are often belittled. These are milestones that only exceptional thinkers who are creative and zealous can meet. It is therefore of important note that we understand them and appreciate the greatness inherent in these feats. If an individual is bold enough to walk through a path that is less traveled because of its turbulence and many gridlocks, most people on this journey are always loners whose family and friends consider mostly to be out of their minds or on a futile mission. So if you are an entrepreneur or nurturing the idea of venturing into entrepreneurship, here are a few great milestones that you should take note of when you reach them as they can help to keep you constantly motivated:

Idea conception

When one is able conceive a business idea that proffers solution to problem faced by people that hitherto had no such remedy when implemented and can also be considered profitable in the short-run or long run. This milestone is sole the motivator of most popular entrepreneurs around the world as their idea always give them vision and optimism. From Jobs, Tyler Perry, Jack Ma to Zuckerberg, idea conception is always their greatest drive for success.

Setting up

Despite having great ideas, fears have held a great number of persons back from attempting to set up their businesses. Setting up is a great milestone that should be celebrated. These include the acquisition of the location and completion of the legal procedures involved.

Patronage

When you are fully ready for business with product/service in a location considered suitable, patronage becomes the direction towards where your focus and efforts will be centered. Entrepreneurs around the world hardly forget their first set of customers especially the ones that propelled their first major breakthrough. The ability to generate patronage is a great skill and every first time entrepreneur or business should consider patronage a big milestone.

Growth and sustenance

Growth is another great milestone and also the proof of validity of any business venture, when a business can grow and sustain the success over a period of time, it shows the ability of that business to serve its customers satisfactorily.

Rising after a fall

When businesses fall, many entrepreneurs will lose it, their drive and self esteem will vanish. Returning to the business and nurturing it back to success is a feat that deserves a thumb up.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo Knelt Down Begging Atiku Abubakar In 2003 - Charles Idahosa by magazineguy(m): 7:53am On Dec 11, 2017
In the real sense, this article does more good to the person of Atiku. If you know, you know.

A gentleman agreed to support his principal after he initially agreed to do one term, then he stopped his third term agenda. Atiku is a great man to democracy. Imagined if OBJ got his third term, do you think there won't be a fourth term bid or even a fifth term bid. OBJ was willing to go all the way to just achieved third term.

Till date OBJ hates Atiku with so much passion. WHY

Sports / 13 Incredible Facts About Sports You Need To Know by magazineguy(m): 1:13pm On Dec 09, 2017
One thing I know for sure is that sports, just like every mainstream topic in the world would have its eerie reality- breath-taking or low. Boredom made me stumble on some things while surfing the web late last night. My kind nature and heart makes does not permit to follow in the steps of a hoarder. Here are some of them:

-Do you know Michael Jordan experimented with Baseball? While he was busy pitching, he was also being paid the reported $4 million he earns as a basketball player by Buls and White Sox’s owner, Jerry Reinsdorf.

-If Legendary swimmer Michael Phelps were a country, he would rank number 35 on the all-time Olympic gold medal list, ahead of 97 countries.

-“Federer” can be typed completely with the left hand (Check your computer keyboard now!)

-The average golf ball has 336 dimples.

-When the Americans defeated favourite England in the 1950 World Cup, the story was altered by many newspapers around the world. They believed the original score of 1-0 to be a typo and instead printed that England won 10-1

-Liechtenstein has completed in the most summer Olympics (16) without winning any medal.

-At the first modern Olympics, winners were awarded silver medals.

-China did not win an Olympic medal until 1984. At the 2008 Beijing games, they swept 100 medals (Home Advantage speaks in sports).

-Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, was once the goalkeeper of Portsmouth Association Football Club, which would eventually become the Portsmouth professional team that won the FA Cup in 2008.

-Shaquille O’Neal missed 5,317 free throws in his basketball career. (Disgracing!)

-During the 1974 World Cup in Munich, national teams were given BMW buses for transportation. After being eliminated, Zaire (now known as Democratic republic of Congo), unsuccessfully attempted to drive theirs back to Africa. (Absurd!)

-Despite consequent invitations, England refused to participate in the first three World Cups due to an actual beef with FIFA. Still a mystery till today as to what caused the rift between the football governing body and the brits.

-Despite not playing basketball since high school, Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) was drafted No. 139 by the NBA’s Kansas City Kings after winning the men’s decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.

Culture / Re: 10 Things You Should Never Apologize For by magazineguy(m): 1:01pm On Dec 07, 2017
lalasticala do not apologize for moving posts to front page.
Culture / 10 Things You Should Never Apologize For by magazineguy(m): 1:00pm On Dec 07, 2017
Most times we find ourselves consistently apologizing for our actions both the ones we can control and the ones we can’t because we feel it is the right thing to do. But the truth is that not all actions done need an apology; even though you might categorize it as a strength it is really a weakness. Especially if you apologize for everything you do, so that you come-off as the more sympathetic person.

Here are my TOP 10 things you should never apologize for.

Saying NO!
Let Your NO be NO. No questions asked. Never do anything that you don’t feel like doing. At the end of the day, it’s your choice and your life – so live it.

Asking For Help.
We all need a helping hand every now and then. Never apologize for not knowing something or understanding a situation. We all learn every day. So when next you need help in doing something or achieving a goal, just reach out and never feel bad.

Speaking Your Mind.
Never apologize for having an opinion. That in itself is confidence. Not everyone has that in them and you shouldn’t be apologizing for that.

Being Yourself.
You are who you are and should be proud of that. Not everyone will appreciate the real you but you will find people who will. Never apologize or tilt to fitting the perfect person image created by the ignorance of someone.

Standing Up For Something You Believe In.
Always stand-up for what you believe in even though no one around you stands with you, and never apologize for it. Do you know what’s worse than ‘having an opinion?‘ Having none at all. Everyone should stand-up for something and I’m glad you have found yours.

Doing Things You Love.
You should always do what you love and love what you and never apologize for immersing yourself in something that brings you absolute joy and satisfaction. Except what you love is directly harming someone. Then don’t apologize, stop it.

Killing it.
Never apologize for being awesome at what you do; be it at school, work or play. Be proud of your achievements and wear them with pride.

Expressing your emotions.
This is how you feel at the moment – so cry if you have to, laugh loud. Just express yourself and never apologize for your actions.

Telling the truth.
If someone asked your opinion on something or if you are in a position to say the truth on an issue, just say it. If you don’t, it’s going to kill you or rather your conscience won’t let you be. Be truthful and never apologize for it.

Not sharing mutual interests.
It is ok not to like the same things other people like and you have no reason to apologize for that. Whether its dogs, sports, cooking etc … whatever it is, just because you pretend to like them doesn’t make you a good person.

Romance / 7 Things To Do If Your Nude Picture Goes Viral by magazineguy(m): 1:22pm On Dec 06, 2017
It is a new world order where technology rules everything we do. This is why smartphones are very important in our lives and we do all sorts of things with them. Some people go as far as sharing nude pictures with their lovers via their devices. Others may mistakenly share the nudes online or hackers may take advantage of their phone’s insecurity to hack the gadget and splash the pictures all over the internet. Before you flip your fingers, the images have gone viral and may have been viewed or clicked thousands of times. This can be very embarrassing and can lead to depression and even suicide. But you do not have to go down that desperate route.

Get rid of all your gadgets
Perhaps this should be the first thing you should do. Get rid of your smartphones and gadgets. This is because the more you see the pictures, the more you will get infuriated and depressed.

Keep yourself in company of close friends
Never be alone in this type of situation. You will be very vulnerable and you may hurt yourself. You should call your close friends or loved ones to come stay with you or you leave your home to go stay with them. However, do not reach out to friends who will judge you.

Report to the police
If it is a case of revenge porn, you should report to the police so that they can take action. Nobody should share your private pictures on the internet because you broke up with him. If he does, report to the police. Don’t say you will leave him in the hands of God because he will revel and grin in what he has done.

Accept it
It is very difficult to accept such a thing but you have no choice than to. Learn from it and move on. It was a mistake. Anyone who loves you will accept you for who you are.

See a psychologist
See a psychologist who can take you through the process of psychotherapy to help you overcome the incident. This is one of the best ways to recover from the incident.

Don’t take revenge
Yes, you are very angry. You have the right to take revenge and do something nasty to the person who shared your nudes. Like earlier said, you should accept it and move on. But still, make a report to the police.

Right to be forgotten
This is a long shot. The right to be forgotten is the right of individuals who have gone through a terrible ordeal to erase such an incident or ordeal online. In other words, it allows individuals to have information, videos or photographs about themselves deleted from certain internet records so that they cannot be found by search engines. This is just to prevent continuous stigmatisation for the rest of your life. This is possible and search engines like Google and others can take such information off. You just have to contact them.

Music/Radio / Album Review: Ajebutter22 – What Happens In Lagos by magazineguy(m): 4:49pm On Dec 01, 2017
After following the career of this unique songstar named Ajebutter22 for about five years, it was of utmost importance that I cop the album “What Happens In Lagos.” When I was in the university, I saw him perform live in front of over 5,000 students including myself. Then he was new in the industry and performed “Serenren” and “Omo pastor” at the University of Ilorin’s stadium (main bowl). Omo pastor which featured BOJ of DRB Lasgidi was a jam to reckon with back then. Five years after a brilliant stint in the industry and few singles, the Afro-rap sensation would go on to drop a 14-track LP. Although, three tracks; “Lagos Big Boy”, “Bad Gang” and “Ghana bounce” already served as promotional singles for the album earlier this year, the remaining tracks are good as fresh.

Track 1 – Good Place To Start (featuring Mystro)

It started with a spoken word by a female spoken word performer, immediately followed by Mystro’s smooth vocals. Ajebutter22 rhymed about the struggles and the hustles that come along with staying in Lagos. He also opened up about the challenge that has pierced the rap music scene in Nigeria, “And I’m lucky I’m a rapper, the job market ain’t helping many” but the Yoruba-accent laced rapper still believes Lagos is a good place to start.

Track 2 – 4a.m. (featuring Dremo)

“Lagos too dey hustle, got to wake up early/4a.m. ni moti ji(I’ve woken up)”. Ajebutter22 sang this hook and Dremo followed up on the first verse by rapping about his own experience about arriving late for interviews and photoshoots and the mobbing he faces from fans at the bank. I feel Ajebutter22 shouldn’t have exposed some things. Overall, it sounded like an average rap song.

Track 3 – Dollar Ti Won

Ajebutter22 went on to rant about the current foreign exchange rate circumstance surrounding the dollar. Generally, it surrounds the economic hardship that trailed Nigeria in the Buhari regime. He also went on to talk about brokenness and how his friends expect him to flaunt money.

Track 4 – Rich Friends

Ajebutter22 revealed how his rich friends blow stacks of cash and he doesn’t know their sources of income. They drive Benz and fly oversees for the weekend. He also revealed how he faces temptation and convince him to join their gang of ill-gotten wealth.

Track 5 – Bad Gang (featuring Falz)

The Falz-assisted peer-influnce anthem already has a video. It is just a bonus track. The track exposes all acts that come with youthful exuberance and facts that cannot be pushed aside; drugs, sex, immoral dressing and the advent of having affairs with older men in exchange for money. “all the fine girls have join gang/ and all the good boys have join gang.”

Track 6 – We Are Bad Boys (featuring M.I.)

The track gives the Chocolate City music front man, Jude Abaga (M.I.) to redeem himself after a rough year with trolls and fans on Twitter. Bad boys just describe the life young men and bachelors in Lagos live just to get to the heart of women. “Bad boys, bad boys, we are bad boys in Lagos. Why should I invest in farmland when I can rent house on the island”. Ajebutter22 says repeatedly on the hook.

Track 7 – Wayward

“Dis girls are wayward, just because I’m famous. They say buta entertain us because that’s what happens in Lagos.” The same issue occurring when they see guys like himself popping and all they want to do is to be girls that hang around celebrities whenever they get the chance. The tone Ajebutter22 used in delivering here shows he faces this every time and he is wary of it.

Track 8 – Yoruba Boys Trilogy (featuring Odunsi)

Yoruba demons are put in question here. Yoruba boys have this charm that is capable of sweeping every woman off her feet without stress. Ajebutter22 says Yoruba boys always lie. He revealed almost everything on the production with the upbeat tempo. “They don’t wanna let me in because I do damage. Calling me a fuckboy when I do damage.” Odunsi brought the unique flavor he has had all year on the track.

Track 9 – Anything for the boys (featuring Odunsi)

It seems Odunsi and Ajebutter22 formed a bromance sequel to this album. Anything for the boys is a track that encompasses the slang; “anything for the boys?” that comes with the fame and riches. The people down the food chain keep asking him for their share of the proceeds including the women.

Track 10 – Lifestyle (featuring Maleek Berry)

Ajebutter22 raps about how women want the high and frivolous lifestyle especially when they have a rich guy who is able to give them that. Maleek Berry’s vocals went flying on every key, giving us every reason to love him the more. “OH nana oh nana, she is in love with the lifestyle”. He sings the chorus.

Track 11 – Happy Ending

He raps about the life he would want for the special person he wants in his life. He explains the delay he is going through in choosing a life partner. He also sheds light on the desperation of an unknown lady who is in hurry to commit to a life partner, always cutting off every other man that comes in to her life. The slow and light drum on a keyboard production is the right platform for him to voice his feelings.

Track 12 – Lagos Big Boy

Lagos big boy revolves around the life a Lagos big boy a lives. He doesn’t have to show himself; everything is set in tune to his class. “I enter club with kaftan, my slippers Givenchy because I’m a big boy, a Lagos big boy”.

Track 13 – Biggie Man

Biggie man brings out another dimension to the album. He stands between being a successful man and a hardworking man. He rebukes those trying to call him but all doesn’t go well with him. He also talks about pretence and battling mild depression when challenges are thrown at him.

Track 14 – Ghana Bounce

I guess this track is just in appreciation to the voluptuous Ghanaian women. Ghana bounce has this unique production that had Ajebutter22 fantasizing and breaking down an unknown lady’s behind. He just wants the hurdies to Ghana bounce. He is also ready to spend the money to have a feel of it.
