Romance4 Ways To Know He Is No More Into You by magazineguy(op): 7:34am On Jul 28, 2017
So right now, I am laughing to myself because I seem to have a lot of experience in this area. Well, for reasons you can guess. I am always at the receiving end of breakups. What is that thing they say about how easy it is to give relationship advice to other people but how it is hard to take your own advice? Yeah, that is me.

So you guessed right, we are going to be talking about how to recognize that he is no more into you and you know how we girls are, we can always guess when something is going wrong, we just may not be able to point a finger to it.

The Phone Calls Or Texts Reduce
You know how when you met you were all over yourselves and couldn’t seem to get enough of each other? But now, the calls have reduced to once in two or three days and he doesn’t seem to have a great explanation for it like work or some other tangible thing.

Monosyllables
In addition to the calls or texts reducing, he now talks in monosyllabic words and you can’t just seem to understand why. Those “fine””good” “okay” seems to now be the way your conversations go. He may just be looking the flare. Watch out.

Social Media
You now have to find out everything that is wrong or new with him via social media. You used to be the first person he would talk to about it, but now he is going on social media first to rant and may not even tell you at all. You would now have to call him to ask about what you saw him tweet or post about.

Complaints
He was such an easy going person before but now he complains about everything you do. When you call, he says you are monitoring him; when you ask for a hangout, he says you are too less busy; when you ask for a conversation, he says you talk too much; and more hilarious, when you ask for sex, he says that is all you ever want to do!

Funny right! Yes! Guys seem to be one confused bunch every time. I mean, what exactly do you want us to do.

One reason why he is doing all of this may be because he doesn’t want to be the one doing the breakup. So he would rather have you figure it out yourself and then break up. Guys always feel that they are sparing us some sort of heartache by going this route when in actual fact they are just giving us heartaches. Other guys would take this route because they feel that when they keep the distance like this, you may not realise that it is them leaving and so they can call you up anytime later to continue where you left off especially since the breakup was inconclusive. Guys hate closure, so girlfriend, watch out!

CareerThe Rise Of Machines And How They Threaten To Take Your Job by magazineguy(op): 9:04am On Jul 27, 2017
The situation in the labour market is quite ironic. It is ironic because while most people look to business owners for jobs, these employers are increasingly looking in the direction of machines to get work done.

For quite some time now, it has been said that the concept of industrial labour is evolving, and that the rise of machines and advancement in technology is posing a big challenge to the long term demand for human labour.

There have been signs of the possibility of some professions becoming obsolete at some point, but not everyone can see these signs. A good pointer to support that claim is the fact in the 20s, knocking on people’s door used to be a profession but today, even kids, at a particular age, can do their knocking by themselves.

In case you’re not convinced, consider the fact that people no longer look for post-men to help dispatch their documents; somewhere along the line, the electronic mailing system became a preferred option. So what happened to the many post-men of those days? I guess you can conclude that less of their service was required as the electronic mailing system grew in acceptance.

It is this same threat that hangs over a lot of other professionals today. For instance in the banking industry, where the use of ATM, POS machines and other e-banking services have become faster and more convenient options to having to operate with cashiers, It was on this basis that Ecobank Nigeria recently announced it would be closing down 74 branches, to focus on its electronic banking services, a move that resulted in job cuts for some professionals. The managing director of the bank, Charles Kie, had explained that the bank hoped to shift its activities to digital channels and improve customers’ experience at reduced cost.

Similarly, in the area of Engineering, the automation of jobs is fast gaining grounds. A visit to Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Ltd, located in Lagos, where full range of commercial vehicles covering heavy duty trucks, medium trucks, light trucks are produced, revealed that new technologies are fast replacing human input into vehicle manufacturing.

With fewer workers in the plant, the factory is expected to assemble and produce 10,000 trucks annually. Checks show that their production line including turning over machine, filling machine, inspection line, debugging workshops to finished products are all dominated and driven by high tech with very few humans.

It is easy to conclude that this change in direction of things, affects only middle class professionals, but if you consider the increasing success level of commercializing self-driving cars, one would agree that even skills like driving could become less sellable at some point in the future.

Even as a receptionist, there is an existing threat of your job being automated. In December 2015, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore unveiled a human-like robot, which will work as a receptionist on campus. Not only does the robot have a soft skin and flowing brunette hair, Nadine as she was named, meets and greets visitors. She smiles, makes eye contact and shake hands. She can even recognize past guests and spark up conversation based on previous chats.

A lot of other industries are joining in this wave of automation of jobs. Employers have stated speed and the fact that they don’t have to pay wages as some of the reasons they favour the use of machines in their business operation. Andy Puzdater, the CEO of US-based fast-food chains Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s further stated the reasons for his preference of robots over human workers. In an interview with Business Insider, he said that unlike human workers, robots are “always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there’s never a slip-and-fall, or an age, sex or race discrimination case.”

With this development in mind, Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) conducted a research and predicted that by the early 2030s; about 30% of existing UK jobs would have been automated. For the US, German and Japan; the figures are 38%, 35% and 21% respectively. In developing nations like Nigeria, the World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim, warned that they face the risk of losing two-thirds of all existing jobs to automation.

Considering the threat posed by the rise of machines to human labour; it is important to start to look beyond the common topic of how professional your course is or how much salary you earn or the title you hold at work, and start to think about the future of global business with machines handling most of the jobs. As individuals, we need to start to plan on how to stay in business when job automation would have reached a full scale, because it is imminent. It means that machines are the new competitors for your job. They are usually faster, less prone to errors and your boss would like the fact that he does not have to pay them wages. The question now is: what is your edge over machines in this fierce competition to keep your job? The answer lies in your level of creativity.

Romance6 Steps To Help You Find True Love by magazineguy(op): 4:21pm On Jul 25, 2017
The common saying that ‘love comes to you when you least expect it‘ might be true sometimes, but not always. Think about it, why do you have to wait unpredictably on fate, when you can seek and find love that you so much desire?

About whether or not seeking out love can help you find true love, the answer is yes! Yes you can get true love by seeking it out, since the purity of love is usually less about how you met your partner, but more about the happenings inside of the relationship.

So don’t be held back, feel free to find love? Here is a guide to help you:

Know What You Want
Like the first law of motion, this is the first principle of consciously finding love. You need to search yourself and be sure that what you want at that particular period is love, not a fling or cure for your loneliness. If you are able to convince yourself that this is what is good for me now, then you can take the next step.

Be Optimistic About Your Search
After convincing yourself that love is what you want, the next step is to go for it. This is the point I call “the search point.” Don’t take the renegade trend in the streets too seriously, there is nothing bad about having a desire for love and going after it. If you really want to commit yourself to finding love, you would need to be optimistic about your search.

Beware Of ‘Opposites Attract’ Theory
Often times people try to apply the law of attraction in physics, to love. Yeah it works in some cases, but not always. Especially at the initial stage, having contrasting traits might seem complimentary, but in the long run, the differences could grow too wide that it affects the state of the relationship. It is not to say the theory always fails on the long run, but to point out that it should be a deterrent to a potential relationship.

Don’t View Love From The Perfectionists’ Lens
As much as the concept of love might been perceived by you, to be pleasurable and blissful, it is not perfect. You’d need to have this at the back of your mind while you seek to find love. There are usually ups and downs periods in relationships, even in the abundance of love.

Make Conscious Effort At Socializing
To welcome a guest into your house, you have to open your door. It is the same way with finding love, you have to open up and socialise (by socialise I do not mean be directionless). I’m saying, take one or two conscious steps to open up and by doing that you just might find the right person for you. Wherever you are, be present and look around to see who is looking at you. Make eye contacts, smile and be yourself, someone might see these traits as attractive and come over to say that all important hi.

Stop Pining For Someone Who Is Unavailable
Hey bro, hello sis, there is a good chance that you’d find one, two or more persons of interest in your love-finding engagement but try not to get stuck in the pipe. Look for that person that you genuinely feel happy with, build that relationship that would help you find long term fulfillment. Very importantly, don’t give excuses for other people’s lack of interest of commitment, whenever it manifests, either at the early stage or any time in the relationship. Have it in mind that an uninterested partner makes the relationship unhealthy, and you’d want to avoid that.

In the end, fate has a part to play, but by taking these steps you would have set yourself up to find love. I wish you the best.

Business3 Steps To Attracting New Customers For Your Business by magazineguy(op): 7:20am On Jul 24, 2017
Every entrepreneur seeks to increase his/her customer base often. Startups and existing businesses always find it very difficult to generate new customers or keep generating new customers. Amidst factors such as other competing firms, people’s busy schedule, buying habits and purchasing power. A business must devise means to easily bring customers’ attention to its products/services. For a business to continue attracting new customers, its messages to individual and the general public must first of all be able to capture their attention. The following steps will reveal how an entrepreneur can increase its stream of new customers:

Keep it Short and Catchy When using Words of Mouth
Learn the ability to easily engage your potential customers easily by first of all having a good dress sense acceptable within the business environment. Then, your verbal approach should be catchy and short, example is: “Good day, my name is…. I work with TushMagazine, businesses like yours have benefited immensely from doing business with us, please can you spare few minutes for detail explanation?” This way you have ignited someone’s curiosity and most times it will result in him/her giving you listening ears. The advantage of words of mouth is that it gives you immediate feedback and helps you to learn and improve.

Communicate Value When Using Electronic Media
This media provides audio or audio-visual platform for a businesses to reach out to a larger number of potential customers and businesses should cease the opportunity to communicate the strength and uniqueness of their products/services when using any of these platforms.

Keep a Catchy and Interactive Page When Using the Social Media
Using social media to generate new customers requires a business to keep an attractive and engaging page with the focus of promoting your business and what it offers. Posts on social media should be catchy and interactive. A business should take time reply questions and can also create fun or mind games once in a while.

Business7 Simple Tips For Customer Retention by magazineguy(op): 7:18am On Jul 17, 2017
Churn-rate is a business term that reveals the level or number of customers that cut ties with a company or its service/product. A business person whose focus is success and growth should be able to prevent or minimize churn-rate by understanding that a customer with negative experience will likely complain and a customer whose complaint is not satisfactorily solved will always leave, the worst case scenario is when dissatisfied customers begin to spread their feelings and deterring one’s existing and potential customers from patronizing one’s business.

According to Bill Gate, “your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”. There is always a lot to learn when you interact and listen to your customers, you will learn the source of their unhappiness or complains and make better modifications. It is proven that companies spend ten times the amount required to retain a customer in order to acquire a new one and retaining customers multiplies revenues as a result of repeat buying and referrals. Businesses only exist and operate when they can acquire, retain and grow customers. To retain customers and succeed in business, an entrepreneur must imbibe the following skills:

Wear A Smile Always

A smile is a warm reception on its own, it’s a friendly disposition. A smile most times induces impulse buying even when the customers hold no intention of making a purchase.

Standard

Create and continue to work on bettering the quality of whatever service/product your business offers. This practice has a way of improving a company’s reputation, patronage and customers loyalty.

Always Provide the Right Information

Product/service knowledge is very sacrosanct in order for a customer not to be misled or deceived into making wrong buying decisions.

Promptly and Satisfactorily Resolve Complains

Preventing a customer’s anger by promptly resolving his/her complains in a friendly and satisfactory way can increase a customer’s loyalty and will also serve as a re-assurance of continuous good service delivery.

Remember Special Days and People in their Lives

Customers are happy when you can be able to comfortably remember their children’s, spouse’s, friend’s and relative’s names. Ask after the welfare of their special ones when they show up alone. They also appreciate felicitation messages on occasions that are dear to them.

Discount

Discount as a term is as old as business itself. Customers enjoy deductions from the actual price no matter how little the percentage is.

Offer after Sales Services and Bonanzas

A little help after sales and free stuffs every once in a while goes a long way in keeping customers.

At one listen, we all believe this album is dope. I mean of international standard but you can't just review a body of work just few hours after release. It makes your review not balanced. What mood did you listen to the songs, did you listen to it in your car while driving or in a studio?

All the same, the project is a dope and interestingly it will do way better than Davido's Son Of Mercy

Music/RadioHow Your Favorite Artiste Might Have Been Cheating You by magazineguy(op): 6:39am On Jul 13, 2017
I connected to the spirit and mentality of what he was saying. And it inspired me to go out and conquer my life,” BankyW had this to say about Jay-Z.

Speaking about his purpose of making music, Jay-Z said, “I try to make music with emotions and integrity.” “[In a position where people look up to you,] your job is to inspire people.”

Between the two, Jay-Z and BankyW, there is perhaps nothing more than a relationship between an artiste and a fan. BankyW and Jay-Z might not have a personal relationship but what they share, has inspired the two to become greats, although, at different ends of the pole. Jay-Z is conscious about inspiring his fans; Banky is smart to search the right places for inspiration.

I would like to think that this is a model relationship between an artiste and a fan, one that should form a major part of the framework of any artiste-fan relationship. It should not be based on the frequency at which artistes give handouts to fans or the number of times artistes say, ‘I love my fans’. These are only like icing to the cake.

I believe that principally, an artiste would do more by influencing fans through his/her music and personal life. A fair relationship between an artiste and a fan should be symbiotic in nature; where the two get to benefit from each other.

Personally, I’d prefer the kind of relationship that Jay-Z and Banky share. Jay ‘stinks of success’ for the millions of records he sold, the awards he bagged, the deals he nailed and the life he is living. Through his music and lifestyle, he has inspired people like BankyW to follow in his path to success; money, fame and a dream woman. Banky too has been able to inspire a younger generation of creatives through his works and that it is how it works in the long line of legends.

Usually, artistes get to make money from putting out their records, also, with the fame and other perks, artistes get to fulfill their personal aspirations; but what does a fan get other than a good sound to dance to and a chance to see how artistes spend the money they make?

It might be called entertainment but some people are being served a two-course meal; entertainment and inspiration. I think I want that too. I would really like to enjoy a good dance and fantasize about resting the weight of my head on the thighs of a night lady, but more than that, I want to see my bigger dreams turn to reality; like it happened for Banky listening to Jay, like it did for Jon Bellion listening to Kanye. That’s how I’d get perpetual bliss, what some other people call fulfillment.

As you might already know, music is a powerful tool that could travel to even the farthest and deepest part of the earth (I hear they sing in heaven too and I look forward to it). To a lot of people, music is only a thing for amusement but it should not be so. Researchers have confirmed that our choice of music has an important influence on our personality. This implies that the music you listen to has an influence on your mood, your paradigm and the way you live your life.

In the words of the Independent Zen, “the positive effect music has in our lives is understated. It can influence mind-state and motivate us to reach for the stars.” So if you haven’t been inspired by the music you have been listening to, it is possible you are being cheated by your favourite artistes.

Luckily, it is easy to get a fair deal for yourself. You might not have the power to determine the kind of music in the stores but you can choose the kind of music that you listen to. If you really want to start getting things done in life and you want music to be a source of your inspiration, re-examine your playlist, filter out the noise, add some good songs to it, listen and let the message spur you to greatness.

Music/RadioThe Difference Between A LP, An EP, An Album And A Mixtape by magazineguy(op):
Mr. Eazi released Life is Eazi Vol. 1, Iyanya dropped Signature, YCEE put out First Wave and some fans are referring to these projects as albums.

While these projects are compilations of songs, and they share a number of other features with what is generally known as ‘studio albums’, it is important to point out that they are not studio albums. Rather, they are called EPs, an abbreviation for Extended Play.

Studio albums on the other hand, are referred to as LP, meaning, Long Play. It is quite easy to confuse an EP for a LP, especially with the wave of EP releases sweeping across the Nigerian music industry. From the many musical projects in the market, some fans struggle to see the line of distinction between an EP and a LP.

In very simple terms, an EP is a body of work containing more than one song but does not contain enough songs to be classified as a studio album. Usually EPs contain about 4 to 9 songs; a good example is YCEE’s First Wave project, which had 8 constituent songs. A musical project could also be classified as an EP on the basis of its length. An EP is expected to be between 25 to 40 minutes in length.

Studio albums are considered full albums. More people are familiar with this kind of musical project. They usually contain a minimum of 10 tracks, and the length of play is usually upwards of 40 minutes. On an average, fans expect that within the space of two to three years, all things considered, a new LP from their favourite artiste should be in the stores. However, this is not a standard principle. In some cases album releases could be more frequent while some could take longer. While an album is being compiled; singles, videos, mixtapes, EPs are some of the ways artistes entertain their fans.

In the same way EP and LP are wrongly interchanged, people sometimes mix-up mixtapes for EPs, but a mixtapes is another category of musical projects which could contain original or unoriginal works of the artiste. For a lot of artistes, mixtapes are seen as freebies, as the idea behind the release of a mixtape is not profit, rather, artistes use it to grow their fan base. M.I’s Illegal Music series or Show Dem Camp’s Clone Wars are good examples.

Contrary to how it is generally perceived, mixtapes and EPs are not limited to the rap community. Artistes making other genre of music get to release mixtapes and EPs. A perfect type of a non-rap EP is War put together by the clique of Odunsi & Nonso Amadi. The RnB/Soul singing duo put together an amazing 4 track long EP, which is helping them grow their reach in the circle of music lovers inside and outside of Nigeria.

With the observable growth that the Nigerian music industry is experiencing, artistes are constantly looking for new and better ways to entertain their fans. This is why they go on to compile different musical project to achieve specific goals. The fact that a lot of these projects are available to the fans, with little clarity on their differences, could cause confusion for some fans. It is therefore necessary to identify the different musical projects available and their distinguishing feature as is done in this article.

CareerWhy You Should Keep Your Earnings Private And Off Social Media by magazineguy(op): 12:26pm On Jul 10, 2017
Dear young people, keeping your income private should be a practice to indulge in.

Stop telling everybody your actual earnings. This includes your sugar, baby, girlfriend, best friend, mum, dad and especially on social media.

My people say to whom more is given more is expected. I’d say he who everybody knows exactly what he receives, a great or less deal is expected.

When somebody knows your actual income, it’s easier for them to require a less or great deal from you. It’s better to keep your income private and allow people to assume and estimate.

For instance, when you tell your best friend how much you actually earn (230k monthly) and because it’s in the nature of humans to socialize, talk and brag. That friend tells his sister during dinner “Do you know Parklins earns 230k monthly? My man is a big boy now oo. I’m happy for him”, his sister during a gist with friends drops the same, one of her friends who one day need help will want to reach out to that Parklins (which is not a bad thing) but if Parklins turns the request down because he needs to pay salaries to his startup team by the end of month but couldn’t explain to her all the details.

You will then be described as either an Igbo man or an aka gum somebody. Some people might even tell you to your face, “sheybe you earn 230k monthly and you can not even give somebody 10k, Wawu

This is just an example. Me, I don’t have money. But you get the point, right?

Even all the net worth of celebrities and billionaires are estimated value. Keep yours private and allow others do the estimates.

Business5 Reasons Start Ups/Entrepreneurs Should Have Mentors by magazineguy(op): 6:31am On Jul 10, 2017
As simply put by Eric Parsloe of The Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring, “Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximize their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be”. Most notably successful entrepreneurs had mentors who led them through their early stages of starting out. Tech entrepreneurs, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page were mentored by Steve Jobs and Steve himself was mentored by Mike Markkula, a clear proof that mentoring is a way of leading someone in the right direction towards success.

If you are hoping to minimize the hitches involved in starting and running a business successfully, the following reasons will convince you of the need to get a mentor soon:

Experience
Mentors are mostly successful business people with vast experience acquired over a long period of time, success and dream actualization will happen easily when these experiences are shared with you.

Professional Networking
With years of existence in an industry, most mentors can make networking easier for whoever they are working with. That is, they can easily introduce one to important people that can make ones business successful.

Encouragement
We all need to be encouraged every once in a while in order not to throw in the towel in the face of challenges. Most mentors have seen the ups and downs of starting and running a business, this makes it easier for them to encourage one by telling their own stories or a similar one that suits a particular situation.

Confidence
The can do spirit is the reason why people succeed most times and people are held back when the level of their confidence is low. Mentors help you grow your confidence level by showing you how things are done.

Risk and Loss Minimization
Business will be more interesting if you have someone who leads you through the various steps that will reduce your losses and risks.

CelebritiesHushpuppi And His Puzzling Interest In The Music Industry by magazineguy(op): 4:32pm On Jul 04, 2017
Like many others in the same suspicious trade, Hushpuppi has been bestowed his celebrity status by the social media culture of worshiping ostentatious figures, a culture that celebrates showy and loud characters, while ignoring the source of the wealth on display.

In the first place, it is this culture that got Hushpuppi the mass attention that he now basks in. His display of expensive watches, fancy clothes, his dapper looks and his model appearances has helped him command the followership of tens of thousands of social media users.

While he is not the only one making the black deals and reaping heavily from it, Hushpuppi is perhaps the most vocal and most active of them on social media. I have cause to believe that even in his line of work; he is considered as some sort of star, whose bravery and brazen acts are heroic.

Hushpuppi’s puzzling influence has grown over the years, and so also, his interest in the entertainment industry has been on the rise. He has assumed the position of a fashion expert and a whistleblower, who is either talking about celebrities whose wrist –watches are not genuine or he is suggesting that a certain star is exaggerating his wealth. Hushpuppi is often in the business of throwing shades at those in the upper crust of the Nigerian entertainment industry, and his reason for engaging in these acts is might not be far-fetched.

While Hushpuppi has not officially stated his reasons for trying to grab himself a seat in the circle of Nigerian celebrities, the public has had to discuss about him and his manner of doing so. It is clear that his preferred tactic is to ridicule the spending habit of celebrities, in comparison to his. Hushpuppi appears to live a life of luxury, a life that is normally associated with music superstars, but he would not have music stars stand in the spotlight while he is in the background.

Hushpuppi enjoys being seen as a princely figure whose life is fashioned in gold and other bright colours. With this ethos, he sees music stars as his biggest competition and so, he appears to be interested in proving that he, and not any of them, is the realest. Davido has had to deal with the insolence of Hushpuppi; Ice Prince, KCEE and Phyno are currently drawn into it, and it is even possible that more entertainers would likely be targeted in the future.

From what is seen on the pages of social media, Hushpuppi lives a luxurious life that would have been enviable if only the source of it all is known. He wears a lordly status, which he placed upon himself, with the help of the people he gets his encore from. He has fed on this encore for a while now, and he appears to be dangerously dependent on it now, so in search of more, he turns is focus to the entertainment industry, the place where the stars cluster and the paparazzi is intense. Anyone in this sphere could be Hushpuppi’s target; anyone of the fashion-inclined music superstars would be a good target of ridicule for Hushpuppi, who does not care what is said about him or his actions, so long he gets a share of the spotlight that he desperately craves.

Romance7 Features Women Secretly Find Attractive In Men by magazineguy(op): 9:31am On Jul 04, 2017
Different females of course find different things attractive but there are a few things besides the regulars such as height, lips and muscles that they secretly admire in a man. Some of which guys themselves don’t even think any one pays attention to. These things might seem freaky to some and extremely weird to others but it turns most females on nonetheless.

Veiny Arms

This shouldn’t come as a surprise because veiny forearms represent muscles and hard work. Women subconsciously search for a man who can protect and yes in this day and age where women are becoming more independent, there’s still a part of them that find strong men extremely attractive.

Unkempt Facial hair

The “I’m too tired to care” attitude that the unkempt beard portrays entices so many women. Be it a stubble or a full grown beard. Women find any form of facial hair extremely attractive.

The Happy Trail

This is the trail of hair that starts at just below the navel and goes all the way down…we know where it leads and we’re happy to follow.

Scars

Now almost every woman I know finds any type of scar unbelievably arousing. Scars are rugged, masculine, exciting and very hot.

Sweat

I’m talking about fresh sweat. Straight out of the gym sweat or sweat from doing any form of manual labour. Immediate sweat not the kind that’s been on you for a couple of hours or more. Sweat contains pheromones (scented sex hormones) that attract women and make them want to make you sweat more but for them this time.

Scent

Women also love men’s natural scent or any cologne that is particular to their man. That’s why we’re always taking their hoodies and shirts. If a guy goes to visit his girl and after he leaves her sheets smell like him she will literally sit there and smell it for as long as she can. Weird but true.

Butts

Everyone knows that guys love checking out women’s butts what people don’t know is that it works both ways. Ladies also love to see how good the pants fit guys. I mean what else are we meant to look at when they walk away?

Business5 Steps To Writing An Instagram Bio That Attracts Clients by magazineguy(op): 8:15am On Jul 03, 2017
Most people do not know that there is a technique to creating a great Instagram bio. They believe that your Instagram bio should just give a brief information about you. But while it is true that information about you is required in creating your Instagram bio, however the information has to be selected in a way that it helps you grow your followership and also attracts potential clients to your page.

According to research, it takes less than two-tenths of a second for an online visitor to form an impression of your account. This therefore means that it is important to create a good first impression, especially if you plan to use your Instagram account for business purpose.

These are 5 proven steps to guide you in writing an attractive Instagram bio:

Use Your Name or Brand Name

The first proper thing to do in creating a good Instagram bio is to use your name or brand name in the ‘name’ field in your profile. This is because your name and username are the only fields that Instagram considers in search queries. It is therefore smart to have the name you’re known for or your brand name in the ‘name’ field, to make it easier for people searching on Instagram to find you.

Include Your Skills

Adding your skills and engagements in your Instagram bio tells people what you do or what the nature of your business is. If you want to stand out for a particular skill, profession, hobby, or interest, you should include these details in your Instagram bio. There is a good chance that a new viewer would find these skills or engagements interesting enough to want to follow you.

Use Keywords

The purpose of using keywords in your Instagram bio is not to improve the chances of you being found in a search, but it gives an impression to people that this is the theme of this account and this often helps people connect with your posts.

The right keywords to include in you bio should project your own core values and that which you’d expect to appeal to your target followers. Using keywords that target your audience and niche will help users better understand who you are, what you have to offer, and whether or not your account is relevant to them.

Include A Website Link

One of the ways to lead on an online visitor who is starting to pick interest in your Instagram page, is to have a website link in your bio, especially when you plan to use Instagram for business purpose.

A professional Instagram bio should contain enough information to market you or your brand to anyone who’s viewing your page. By marketing I mean, get people to show interest in what you’re offering. Whether you’re a blogger or you own an online store, your Instagram bio should be able to let people visiting your page know that this is what I’m offering.

Add Flair To Your Instagram Bio

It is fine to include all the necessary information about yourself and your brand in your bio, but the way you send the info across to people is important. Your Instagram bio should not look like a draft for your CV. You should try to be creative with it. Instagram itself is a lighthearted social media platform. It is better to create a lighter mood with your Instagram bio, so more people can relate with it.

You can add flair to your Instagram Bio using these options:

• Use emojis to space out your text
• Change the font in your Instagram bio with Textizer
• Add line breaks to your Instagram bio by typing “Return” in your bio on the web version of Instagram (you can’t add line breaks to your bio in the Instagram mobile app)

FamilyWhat’s Special About The Age 18? by magazineguy(op): 7:33am On Jul 01, 2017
If what we want in life is the freedom to do all that please our heart at any age and not an eligibility status tying us down till we clock age 18. I have questioned my humble self several times concerning why the world at large keeps on restraining us from doing some activities till we turn the age of 18 and I still couldn’t find a genuine answer to that.

When we were young, we were warned to desist from some adult content movies if we are not yet 18 and today am more than eighteen and I still don’t see a reason why they stopped us from exercising our youthful right before that legal age.

Many guys had started drinking before age 18 and many pretty girls had lost their virginity one way or the other before their 18th birthday and here we are still deceiving our parents that we will be the perfect kid till 18. Many young people have inbuilt talents in them waiting to explore the world but the world has restrained them and they don’t have a choice but to wait till they are 18 .

It’s no longer news that eligibility to do whatever we want at any particular time doesn’t make us an opportunist but a conqueror and that is why I am calling out to the youth of our generation to wake up and make something good happen before the age 18. Many great men of the world today started making a difference in their prime and today we all look up to them believing one day we will rise to fame.

In Nigeria where they tell us we can’t vote, marry and even drive a car before age 18 is still the same country where we see many politicians buying luxurious cars for their teenage daughters only to mark her sweet sixteen birthday. What I can do before age 18 is still the same thing I will do at that age. So, stop aspiring that you will start having or engaging yourself in a serious relationship with the opposite sex when you can even tolerate your nagging sister and stubborn brother at an age far younger than 18.

It’s true that when we clock 18 our body and mind would have been so developed that we can be able to handle any real life situation that comes our way but what will you say of a young guy who even at age twenty one can’t even handle his father’s wealth or a young lady of twenty four who couldn’t cope with emotional breaks up. It’s not about the age but your personal build up and motivation.

CelebritiesNigerian Youths And The Pressure To Become Rich by magazineguy(op): 7:33am On Jun 30, 2017
The pressure to become insanely rich is becoming tremendously overwhelming in our society today. Yeah there’s nothing wrong with having dreams and aspirations and wanting the best things in life. We see celebrities and other rich people in our society and we want to be like them but the problem is we do not have the patience to go through all the hardship they went through before they got to where they are. We want money but we don’t want to work for it. We want easy money. We want fast money. That’s the problem with the society today. That’s the problem with the youth of today. That’s the problem with the females of today.

In this day and age, with the issue of feminism gaining so much ground, every girl should start working hard to get what they want. Most girls however are trying the whole fake it till you make it thing and it’s actually working for them. And that’s the problem, the fact that they are able to fake their lives and get away with it motivates other young girls to go in the same direction.

Guys complain about girls always asking for stuff from them but the truth is guys encourage these kinds of girls. You see a girl with the latest phone, wearing expensive clothes, her hair glowing under the sun, and that’s the girl you pick over the one standing at the back, immensely beautiful but so insecure because her phone isn’t the latest or because her shoes aren’t 6 inches. There’s nothing wrong with going for a girl with these high standards, but before you date her or whatever how about you ask her simple questions like “hey, what do you do for a living?” or at least get to know her before you begin to invest your time in her. Most guys know the truth about these types of girls yet they choose to overlook it and at the end of the day they end up putting all girls under the same category.

Nigerian girls need to learn not to depend on men for everything and they need guys to help them reach that place. Don’t encourage them. Guys at this point should be looking for ride or die chicks and not just a girl that’s into them for what they can get out of them. It’s simple logic you don’t eat where you don’t farm.

Make something out of yourself and nobody will call you names. If you’re looking to a man for financial security, then don’t be surprised when there is you, him and a sidechick. Men love independent women and go getters. Those are the kind of girls that real men are attracted to.

Most importantly though, don’t do it for the men, do it for yourself, the feeling of getting paid for something you know you worked for is amazing. No matter how small. Truth is, we as girls need to stop doing everything in to get the attention of men. And yes there are so many hardworking young women out there who do what they do for themselves not for the opposite and we all need to learn to be like them. Find yourself a role model, a strong woman and strive to be more like her and not like the ones that uses their bodies to make money. To avoid being called names that will offend you, set goals, work hard and later sit and enjoy your success.

BusinessCommunication Skill As A Success Tool For Business Professionals by magazineguy(op): 7:21am On Jun 29, 2017
To succeed in business, effective communication skill is sacrosanct. Understanding that people’s perception of you, interest, confidence, trust, indifference, dislike and commitment is always determined by the way you communicate with them is an awareness that can help one to learn and apply the best rules of communication in the business environment.

The business sphere is controlled by contacts which can only be sustained with good communication. When a company launches a product, it is expected to back it up with the best communication that is descriptive and convincing in order to elicit patronage, what if it is going into a partnership? What happens to its PR and Negotiations?

Excellent communication is required for all these. Business mogul and billionaire, Warren buffet once told a group of business students that better communication increases one’s value by fifty percent. It is simply the competence to deliver excellently during verbal conversation, presentation and writing in a manner that put the following into cognizance:

Clarity: In order not to confuse people when speaking or writing to them, complexity should be minimized. Communicate in simple, clear and understandable term.

Listening: Listening is a vital skill needed for good communication. Even while arguing, it is not advisable to counter an opponent rapidly. Listen and understand what people say during conversation before replying.

Knowledge: When you are knowledgeable and you have good vocabulary coupled with emotional intelligence, you will be able to communicate verbally and also generate good write ups. Persons with these qualities easily find their way to the top in the business world.

Formality: Business communication is formal and should be strictly adhered to when writing or speaking to someone. Informality should be minimized or totally avoided.

Collaboration: Negotiation or proposal will require you to have in mind an all inclusive or a win-win deal for the parties involved rather than imposing your own will and desires.

Impression: Learn to create a lasting impression with your choice of words and expression. Be that person whose words genuinely move people.

Health4 Steps To End Negative Habitual Thoughts by magazineguy(op): 9:00am On Jun 23, 2017
I’ve been going through a spiritual awakening. I am remembering my own power and realizing how liberating it is to know that I can manifest anything I want because my thoughts create my reality.

But one morning I woke up and realized: something was still wrong. Why wasn’t I waking up excited in the morning, even after my awakening? Why wasn’t I springing out of bed with excitement? If this is truly an awakening of my own power and I know what makes me happy, then why am still thinking the same things?

That’s when I realized: it’s habitual.

Here’s the thing. Our brain is focused on being efficient. It wants to be on autopilot most of the time. This is great for surviving and horrible if you’re trying to build a life on purpose.

How do we make that shift from autopilot to consciousness?

How do we step into our own wisdom and awareness when negativity is so ingrained in our psyche?

Detach from your thoughts

This is a zen concept. We are not our thoughts. Our brain thinks about 60,000 thoughts a day. We do not have to be responsible for every single one, or any of them if that is what we choose.

Our brains want to be efficient. It is neutral. It doesn’t care what it is thinking — if it is trained enough times, it will keep thinking the same thing over and over again.

We don’t have to identify with our thoughts. They do not have to be us. We can learn to live our lives through detachment to thoughts that do not serve us.

Understand your thoughts once you detach from them

Detaching from our thoughts give us so much freedom to actually explore and question them. All too often, we have an archaic desire to completely cut off the things we don’t like about ourselves. I personally have gone into my Life Coach’s office and said, “I want to get rid of this.”

The response has always been the same: Hold on a second.

Then he walks me through my thinking. We have to understand that these thoughts come from somewhere.

For example, if we can understand that we have been TAUGHT to think in these ways — or, trained our brains to think in certain patterns — we can start the process of unlearning these thought patterns and creating new things to believe.

If we understand that these negative thoughts stem from our fear, we can objectively look at that fear and work on understanding why it’s there. Once it’s understood, it is so much easier to deal with.

We can then make the decision on whether we want to continue giving it our energy or not.

You can PICK the thoughts you want to listen to

This is so important to know. We do not learn thought management growing up, yet it is absolutely life changing.

We can actually CHOOSE which thoughts we’d rather think and then just keep thinking them. No one can stop us or tell us that we cannot think those things. We have the power to focus on what we decide is important; we get to choose which feelings we’d like to feel. This is how emotions are created because our thoughts create our emotions — it is never the other way around.

It is simple, but not easy. It takes practice. But guess what? Our negative thinking is what created habitual thought patterns in the first place. So all we need to do is start practicing this new way of thinking and believing.

Observe your thoughts with loving compassion

We must always find the source of our thinking in order to change our behavior, because our behavior stems from whatever thoughts we are having.

I have woken up many mornings and thought,

“Am I really having the SAME thoughts again? Can’t I just get over this? This is so annoying that I keep thinking and worrying about the same things.”

That is an example of NOT being loving and compassionate.

Having habitual negative thoughts are difficult enough and then beating ourselves up about our thoughts just creates a negative feedback loop.

It is so important to take a step back and simply observe without judgement. Judgement is a human emotion; your higher self does not judge. Your higher self is all-knowing and all-loving. If you find yourself judging, gently remind yourself you are observing from your ego, not your higher self.

Keep being patient and continue listening and practicing until you are in your new habitual thought patterns, ones that actually serve you.

When we are able to detach from our thoughts, deliberately pay attention to and understand them, and listen with loving compassion, we are in a much more powerful position to change our thought patterns from negative to positive. When we are in this position, we can make the mental shift towards thought patterns that are in alignment with our higher selves.

Romance7 Interesting Benefits Of Being Single by magazineguy(op): 7:00pm On Jun 21, 2017
In a normal situation, relationships are meant to bring happiness and bliss. In a relationship that does otherwise, one should re-evaluate his/her position.

As much as we’d like to be in a relationship with someone that appreciates us and makes us happy, we often times have to find these special people or wait for them to walk into our lives. Sometimes we find people who we believe are good for us, only to find out something different.

Staying in a relationship for the wrong reason can be disastrous. You are not being fair to yourself if you choose to endure an abusive or unfulfilling relationship on the premise that your friends are dating or because you’re ageing. Asides from the tumultuous and emotionally draining experiences of such relationships, they usually don’t have happy endings.

The fact is, good relationships are the really worthy ones. If you have to wait, please wait. Because even in being single, there is a great deal of benefit. Here are some of the benefits of being single:

More Time For Yourself

Building and maintaining relationships take time. In a case where you’re single, you’d usually have more time for yourself. But this time has to to be used productively for it to be a benefit to you. With a good amount of spare time in you hands, you can engage in new adventures, knowing that it might not have been as easy, if you were in a relationship.

Build A Better You

You’re single, no partner yet. Why not take the time to work on yourself and work on the aspects of your life that needs improvement? Being single comes with its own blessing, you just have to be open to receive it. Take the opportunity to reflect and learn from your past, learn from your past relationship(s); identify your faults, that of your ex, see the part fate played, learn from it and build a better you, who is better positioned to enjoy a good relationship in the future.

Helps you save money

With relationships comes dates, meet-ups, gifts, frequent calls etc. These things cost money. If you’re in a relationship, and you can afford them, you should be happy to spend. But being single helps you save up your money. You even decide to spend the money of yourself.

Freedom To Date

Being single lets you a bit of space to go out on dates freely. Even if you are not looking for something serious, you can chose to grab a drink or have fun hanging out with someone you just met, perhaps at the mall. You don’t have to worry about the restraint that comes with being in a relationship and wanting to hang out with the nice guy/girl you recently met.

Freedom On Social Media

I once saw a lady break up with a guy on Twitter because he liked a post that she was not comfortable with. It took me aback. It happens, some people do not get the kind of freedom that would help them enjoy their time social media because they’re in some kind of relationship. Often times it is dependent on your type of partner. Being singles gives you the air and freedom to like, post and socialise the way you want.

No More Forced Relationships

The key word here is happiness. People walk into relationship seeking to find happiness, but in the end, not everybody gets to find what they are looking for. Sometimes it’s what they don’t want that they get; violence, cheating, lies. Yet people force themselves to stay, out of fear of loneliness or ‘singleness.’ Being single is better than some of the horrors that people endure in their relationships

Pick Up A New Hobby

There is this urge that comes to you at some points in life, to try a something new, a new habit; perhaps learning to play chess or a musical instrument, but you feel short of time. As a single guy/girl, it is easier to try out some of these things and discover more of yourself as an individual.

While I was at the university, my first year was pretty much spent playing and idling away my precious time. I didn’t take classes, tests or exams seriously; at least not as seriously as “the guys” in my class.

Let’s talk about “these guys“.

They were a set of students in my department who had a track record of scoring strictly A grades in examinations and tests. What was more annoying about them was that regardless of their dedication to their academics, they still had time to party hard and idle away with the rest of us!

The thought and reality of having great academic records while being a “cool kid” tugged at me for months and I made the resolution to be like the cool ones in my class who got the best grades, recommendations and respect from our lecturers.

Fast forward into my second year at the university, I was eager and ready to stack them As & Bs and also party and hangout as much as I wanted. Much to my expectation, I started to hang out with the smart kids and they immediately liked and accepted me into the clan, but that was only the beginning of the pressure.

Weekdays and weekends, you would find them studying like they had an exam to take the next day; I honestly couldn’t deal. There was really no pressure on me to study so hard, but how do you party or hangout with people you never want to study day and night with? There was always this dark cloud hanging around me every time I failed to show up to read with them, but would always be there to hangout. Lol.

As you wouldn’t guess, I stood my ground and created my own less stressful study routine – which pretty much consisted of participating in class activities a lot and only extensively reading 1-2 weeks before tests and exams.

Disclaimer: Do not adopt this unconventional method of study, you might not scale through it like I did. Thank you for your cooperation.

I pretty much flew through the next 2 years of college having these guys as mentors and really good friends. I didn’t exactly stack all A grades every semester, but I did have my fair share of A and B grades and my mama was proud of me just like that. Besides, I was pretty much already blooming as a budding entrepreneur, trying out one business idea or the other while keeping tabs on my academics.

However, trouble started in my finals when I started to nurse the idea of actually graduating with a first class degree just so I could make everyone proud of me. And by everyone I meant my family, roommates, friends, lecturers, schoolmates and the entire universe that probably didn’t even care if I existed or not.

I started to study more, research more, ask more questions, answer more questions, take tests and term papers a lot more seriously. At that moment, everything was a contributing factor to my dedication and success; I contested for elections, volunteered as a class rep. I pretty much even kissed a**, got insulted and ran errands for lecturers I didn’t even like. The struggle.

What happened next?

I got exhausted. I started to lose interest in everything I had gotten knee deep into. I realized I wasn’t thinking at the time of nursing a first class degree desire. What I failed to see was that I was doing a lot more than my colleagues in school; I had 2 active companies at the time, and combining them with all those academic and non-academic efforts were gradually killing me.

What I didn’t consider was that the people with whom I wanted to fly in high colors with only had their academics to worry about at that moment. Only a few of them had active businesses which were mostly carried out in the school environment. I had to do a lot of traveling to attend meetings and keep my businesses afloat as I had already shut down one of them the previous year.

So I stopped.

I didn’t so much care anymore. I stopped reading as much as I used to, I stopped volunteering for extracurricular activities, I applied to start my project afresh on a much simpler scale, I pretty much partied more, some of my friends and lecturers got mad me, didn’t care and I eventually and subconsciously settled for a worthy and stress free Second Class Upper Division degree for graduation.

To cut the long story short, I graduated with a Second Class Upper Division degree and I was more than happy and proud of myself. I bet my mum was proud of me even though she was laid 6 feet below the surface of the earth 4 weeks to my graduation.

It was something that I achieved in comfort and peace, it gave me the room and space to explore other aspects of my life rather than burying my head in textbooks or making the library my nirvana.

Epilogue:

I went on to set up 2 more businesses after graduation and I am proud to say that they are doing very well today. My experience afterwards made me understand that learning to set up and manage a business was my objective of studying Business Administration in school, not the misconstrued ideology of getting good grades and graduating in flying colors while robbing myself of my little happiness because I fantasized about graduating with a first class degree.

In life, if you cannot get the grades or achieve the things everyone expects you to, get the grades or achievements that you can comfortably get and can boast of, because in the end, your happiness, knowledge and experience is all you’ve got.

Do not give in to family, peer, academic or societal pressures. Good grades or not, people would still celebrate with you as long as you are doing something worthwhile. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Richard Branson can testify to this. I repeat, do not give in to societal pressures!

Au revoire!

Music/RadioPoetry: An Instrument In Song-writing by magazineguy(op): 5:59pm On Jun 20, 2017
Songs are your best teachers. Yes. Well, the same thing they say with experience. Experiences are what song-writers conjoin and put up a badass song out there. We try to learn from songs we hear. Sometimes we have a feeling of ecstasy when we listen to whatever we are facing. So, when these artistes mention some things in a record; do not go fuming about it – it’s the job of song-writers. In Africa, very few artistes get their songs written and they get blamed if it doesn’t hit – there would be no song-writer to share the proportion of the blame with.

There are evidences that song-writers make use of elements in poetry to write their songs – Rhythm, Haiku, etc. Since the invention of the printing press, I think I can say poetry is delivered to the eye while lyrics are delivered to the ear. Though, a lyricist has limited space to work with, a normal commercial song lasts 3-4 minutes. Not counting the choruses and refrains (Unless the song-writer uses other elements – sonnet, terza, rima etc.), the song can continue until all the elements and words are exhausted.

A lyric typically needs the music and melody to feel it. It is now left for the singer to do justice. It is actually a piece of pain for a song-writer to work on it. Maybe the producer gets beaten to it, too. Some poems may be too big for the singer’s boots and trimming of the root may occur if a reasonable harvest of opinion is expected to sprout.

It’s very okay for poets and artistes to work together as poetry and song-writing skills go in par.

“Songwriting and poetry are so commonly birthed from underdogs because one can make even the ugliest situations admirable, or more beautiful than the beautiful situations- they are the most graceful media in which the lines of the society are distorted.” – Criss Jami, Killosophy

LiteratureSADE - A Fiction Story by magazineguy(op): 9:49am On Jun 20, 2017
“I don’t think I want to die an unplanned death.” Sade said.

Bubu looked at her with raised brows.

“What do you mean? You want to stage your death?”

“Kinda. Like, I’d love to have a nice dinner and some wine while reading a good book on my balcony. When I’m done, I’d walk to the edge of the balcony; take in a deep breath, and just jump right off.”

“You’re too weird.” He said after a pause.

She laughed.

“You’re too normal.”

They had reached the front of her hostel and it was time to say goodnight. She gave him a tight hug and walked to her room while he headed back to his hostel. It was a couple of days to the end of camp and their goodbyes were getting more emotional.

****

Sade and Bubu first met in a bus on their way to the NYSC camp in Iseyin. Bubu was already seated in the bus when Sade appeared, dragging a huge box behind her. He watched, amused, as she argued with the bus conductor over the extra fees he wanted her to pay for her luggage. She stubbornly refused to pay, insisting that the conductor was trying to rip her off.

He got down from the bus and offered to pay the extra charge for her. She looked at him as if he had insulted her and said something in Yoruba that could only have been an insult. Even the conductor and the other drivers around burst into laughter as he shamefully returned to the bus to sit down. A few minutes later, she settled her tiff with the conductor and settled into her seat in the bus, her luggage safely tucked into the boot.

Hours later when they arrived Iseyin, he caught a glimpse of her struggling under the weight of her box as they marched into camp with their luggage on their heads as instructed by the soldiers. He smiled, pleased by her discomfort. His own bag was light and barely caused him any pain. He toyed with the idea of offering her help but dismissed it quickly. He wouldn’t let her embarrass him again.

Bubu didn’t see her again until two days later at the swearing in ceremony. He recognized her as one of the flag bearers, holding up a Nigerian flag at the head of the parade. At the close of the ceremony, he ran up to where she was sitting on the grass, massaging her feet.

“I found you.” He said, looking down at her.

She looked up at him, recognized him and smiled, before returning her attention to her feet.

“Ehen? Do I owe you?” she asked.

Bubu sat down beside her.

“Yes. You owe me an apology.”

She rolled her eyes and laughed.

“I’m sorry. I was nervous and in a bad mood.”

“Nervous?”

“Yeah. About coming to camp.”

“How’s that turning out?”

“My feet are killing me.” she said as she put her white canvas back on and started struggling with the shoelace.

“You don’t know how to tie a shoelace?” Bubu asked, shocked.

“Call police.” she muttered, as she gave up trying to tie them.

Bubu got on his knees and tied them into a knot. He got up and pulled her up when she reached out.

“I’m Abubakar, by the way. From Jos.” He said, as she dusted grass off her trousers.

“Abubakar. That’s too long” she said, “I’ll call you Bubu.

I’m Sade. I live in Lagos. I’m going to eat at mammy, are you interested?”

****

What started that day blossomed into a strong friendship in the next few days. Bubu and Sade were inseparable and spent every time they could with each other. They talked about everything and argued about most. During the long hours of daily lectures, Sade would sit with her head on Bubu’s shoulders and sometimes doze off, wearing his dark shades. They had their meals together, and attended the same SAED lectures, only parting when they had to go to their hostels. Bubu taught Sade how to tie her shoe laces and in return taught him some Yoruba insults. For self-defense, she said. Everyone knew them, because they were always seen together. When people teased them by referring to them as a couple, they neither denied nor agreed to it.

They spent evenings at mammy market talking about their very different childhoods and upbringing. Sade who had spent a lot of time in Oyo state with her grandmother told Bubu stories about Oyo state and promised him that he would enjoy his service year there.

At the start of the second week of camp, Bubu finally told Sade something he had been meaning to tell her, but couldn’t build up the courage to. He had applied to relocate back to Jos for his service year.

“You’re relocating back to Joshuh And you’re just telling me nowhuh

“Stop shouting and just hear me out” He pleaded.

They were having dinner at mammy market and her loud voice had already attracted the stares of nearby corps members.

“Okay.” she said lowering her voice, “What kind of animal lets a girl fall in love with him while forgetting to tell her he is going back to the other side of the world?”

Bubu was stunned.

“You’re in love with me?” he asked.

Sade rolled her eyes and got up, abandoning her plate of indomie.

Bubu grabbed their half bottles of fayrouz and caught up with her.

“Sade, please.”

“Please what?”

“I’m sorry.” he said quietly.

“Please you’re sorry? That’s an incorrect sentence. English graduate like you.”

He laughed, wondering how she could still make a joke in such a moment.

“I’m in love with you too.”He said.

“I know.” She said, smiling. “Who wouldn’t be?”

He laughed again. Who wouldn’t indeed?

As they walked silently, she took his free hand in hers and squeezed it tightly.

“I’ll miss you.” She said in a low tone.

“We can visit each other.”

She let go of his hand.

“Na so. Why do you want to go back?” She asked.

“I can’t stay here. I don’t like the unfamiliar.”

“I am unfamiliar. You like me.”

He laughed.

“I just don’t know if I can do it. I’ve been in Jos my whole life. It’s my comfort zone.”

“You have to leave your comfort zone eventually.”

Bubu said nothing until they reached Sade’s hostel and hugged goodnight.

****

“Line up according to your platoon!”

Sade looked around the crowd for Bubu. She had expected him to be with her. She hadn’t seen him all morning and was getting annoyed. How would he disappear on their last day together? She wondered if he had already left for Jos but she quickly brushed the thought aside. He wouldn’t do that to her.

She heard her platoon inspector shout her state code and went forward to collect her posting letter. She unfolded it. She was posted to a secondary school in Ibadan North East LGA. She looked around again for Bubu, but he was nowhere to be found. His phone had been switched off all morning. She concluded that he must have left early to make the journey to Jos without saying goodbye.

The buses conveying corps members to their various local governments were filling up already. Sade dragged her box to a bus that had ‘Ibadan NE’ written on it, paid the fee and settled into her seat.

The bus filled up in no time, and as it pulled out of the camp premises, she let the tears she had been holding back fall freely.

****

A week had passed since Sade left camp. She had fallen ill the day she left camp and had to postpone her registration while she underwent treatment.

She had just finished submitting all the required papers for her registration and was resting under a tree when she sensed someone creeping up from behind her. She turned around immediately and gasped when she saw Bubu. She jumped into his arms, almost knocking him over. They hugged tightly for almost a minute. When they broke their hug, she punched him in the stomach.

“Ow!”

“What are you still doing here? Why did you disappear like that? I swear I hate you!”

“I’m so sorry,” he said, bent over in pain “my phone got stolen on the last night in camp and I couldn’t reach you.”

“Why are you still in Ibadan? I thought you’d be back in Jos by now.”

“I canceled my redeployment in camp. I didn’t tell you because I wasn’t sure it would work out. By the last day of camp, I neither got a redeployment message nor a posting letter. I’ve been trying to sort it out and find you at the same time.”

He stood straight and Sade hugged him tightly again.

“You’re staying back in Ibadan?” she asked.

“Who would let a woman like you go?” Bubu said and kissed her forehead.

Music/RadioWhy The Wizkid/Davido Rivalry Would Span Decades by magazineguy(op): 5:40pm On Jun 19, 2017
The Messi/Ronaldo rivalry makes soccer more interesting to follow, the Biggie/Pac and East Coast/West Coast beef created some of the most competitive and interesting moments ever to be seen in the rap game. In the same view, I welcome the rivalry between Wizkid and Davido. It is a blessing to the Nigerian music industry.

Soccer fans across the world are still divided on who the greatest is, between Messi and Ronaldo. Since 2007 when the duo both entered the final shortlist for World Player of The Year, Messi has claimed the award on five occasions, Ronaldo already has four to his name and he is only waiting for the next ceremony to claim the fifth. The award for this year is no longer a contest.

You see, they are equally matched.

Biggie and Pac of bless memory are on virtually every list of greatest ever rappers. The only thing that varies is their position on the different lists. They have both had massive impact on the rap culture. Pac died in ’97, Biggie left the world in ’95 and over two decades later, the Hip-hop community is yet to draw a conclusion on who the greatest amongst the two is.

So the Wizkid/Davido argument is not new. It is expected. It happens in virtually every facet of life. It’s called competition. For every Glo, there is an MTN, for every IPhone, there is a Samsung. So for Wizkid, Davido is his competition and his match. It is no argument that Davido and Wizkid are the two biggest artistes in Nigeria and perhaps Africa, at least for now. These two amazing artistes push each other to new levels, just like Ronaldo wants to score a hat-trick after Messi’s brace.

Look at it this way, Wizkid started the year with Daddy Yo and he quickly became the cynosure of all eyes, the song has about 9 million YouTube views. Then Davido stole the spot light with the release of IF, a song that got about 21 million YouTube views. Wizkid was back again with Come Closer, and he hit 22 million views. Now everyone is looking in the direction of Davido’s FALL, with its fast growing number of views. This is pretty much how things would be for a long time; Wizkid sets a mark, Davido meets it and pushes it further. Wizkid takes it to another level and Davido reaches for the new level. Then it goes on and on.

The interesting thing about this healthy competition is that it helps both artiste to strive to be better. In all of these, the fans would be getting non-stop action and entertainment. As for the argument on who is better amongst the two, in a decade from now, it would still be up for discussion.
