Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Teni and Mr Eazi have been nominated in different categories for the Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards.

The BET Awards were established in 2001 to celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.

Teni was rewarded for her amazing musical growth in 2018 with a nomination in the best new international act category.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy and Mr Eazi, were both nominated in the best international act category alongside AKA (South Africa); Aya Nakamura (France); Dave (U.K.); Dosseh (France) and Giggs (U.K).

The two artists, alongside Teni were the biggest stars of 2018 dropping fan-favourites all year long. Burna Boy And Mr Eazi also performed at Coachella festival in April.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that late rapper, Nipsey Hussle, also received a posthumous nomination in the hip-hop artiste category.

The 2019 BET awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 23.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) presidential candidate in the just concluded poll has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of planning to jail him because he refuses to let go his mandate.
According to Atiku who spoke via a statement issued by his media aide, Paul Ibe, yesterday, he accused Buhari of planning to rope him in a coup plot against his administration.

His words:

“We want to know why the desperation on the part of the Muhammadu Buhari government to rope in the PDP and its Presidential candidate in phantom plots? Obviously, President Buhari wants to replay the phantom coup plot saga of his now deceased mentor, who threw former President Olusegun Obasanjo in jail after falsely accusing him of treason in order to perpetuate himself in power.

“Could it be that they are now aware that the electoral fraud they perpetrated during the last presidential election is about to be exposed beyond a shadow of a doubt?” the former vice president wondered. He noted that if there is anybody beating the drums of war, it is the APC leaders, whom he said issued statements threatening Nigerians and foreigners alike with ‘body bags’. Atiku described himself as a “thoroughbred democrat,” noting that he joined forces with the likes of Chief Moshood Abiola and Dr. Alex Ekwueme to resist Abacha’s dictatorship and fought for the democracy Buhari and APC were allegedly trampling on.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Atiku Abubakar resisted the Abacha dictatorship, of which President Muhammadu Buhari was a prominent member, and it is his resistance and the sacrifice of his co-travellers, like Chief MKO Abiola and Alex Ekwueme, amongst others, that gave rise to the democracy that the current government is now trampling on.

Former Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has broken silence after Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola surpassed his titles winning record.

Mourinho has won 25 major titles during his managerial career before he was sacked by Man United last December, while Guardiola has won 26 titles and he is heading for 27 titles this weekend if Man City beat Watford in the FA Cup final.

But reacting, Mourinho said he does not focuses on figures, adding that he would have won more titles than Guardiola had he remained at his former clubs, Porto and Inter Milan respectively.

“No, no, it reminds me that I’m there, with 25 titles,” Mourinho told L’Equipe when asked about Guardiola’s superior titles record.

“When I won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, if I had stayed, the season after I would have had the European Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the national Super Cup and perhaps I would have ended up with 31 titles.

“Maybe I’m not so focused on the figures!”

Chukwunonso Anthony Agbo, a former Director of Socials of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, has been killed by a drunk driver in South Africa.

The incident happened on Sunday morning, along Port Elizabeth’s Beachfront and a 31-year-old Zimbabwean helicopter pilot, Kelvin Zirema, has been arrested for reckless and negligent driving, culpable homicide and drunk driving.

Zirema was driving in an Audi A4 in the right lane towards Kings Beach, when he hit two pedestrians near the McDonald’s intersection, killing 36-year-old Agbo instantly.

The deceased had only been in the country for a couple of days on a business trip, when the incident happened. Zirema allegedly also crashed into four stationary cars parked near the Humewood Hotel after losing control.

WhatsApp on Monday urged all of its 1.5 billion users to update their apps as an added precaution against hackers who remotely install surveillance software on phones and other devices.

According to reports, the hackers were able to operate using a major vulnerability in the messaging app.

WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, said the attack targeted a “select number” of users, and was orchestrated by “an advanced cyber actor”.

A fix was rolled out on Friday.

The attack was developed by Israeli security firm NSO Group, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The attack was first discovered earlier this month, according to the BBC.

It involved attackers using WhatsApp’s voice calling function to ring a target’s device. Even if the call was not picked up, the surveillance software would be installed, and, the FT reported, the call would often disappear from the device’s call log.

WhatsApp told the BBC its security team was the first to identify the flaw, and shared that information with human rights groups, selected security vendors and the US Department of Justice earlier this month.

“The attack has all the hallmarks of a private company reportedly that works with governments to deliver spyware that takes over the functions of mobile phone operating systems,” the company said on Monday in a briefing document note for journalists.

The firm also published an advisory to security specialists, in which it described the flaw as: “A buffer overflow vulnerability in WhatsApp VOIP stack allowed remote code execution via specially crafted series of SRTCP packets sent to a target phone number.”

There are indications that English Premier League (EPL) champions Manchester City might lose their UEFA Champions League spot over alleged breach of Financial Fair Play (FFP).

At the last count, UEFA are accusing Man City of “several alleged violations” of FFP regulations during its formal probe in March. Initial inquiries commenced last year after the Football Leaks reports.

Reports say Man City allegedly failed to disclose about £70m funds from owners Abu Dhabi United Group – the financial arm of the Emirate’s ruling family, declaring it was sponsorship income.

But Man City have condemned “the speculation resulting from the illegal hacking and out of context publication of City emails” and added: “The accusations of financial irregularities are entirely false.”

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba should not have engaged with fans following the 2-0 home defeat by relegated Cardiff City, says former England striker Alan Shearer.

The French World Cup winner, 26, was applauding home fans when he was criticised by a supporter.

“After the season he’s had, just go in,” said Shearer. “You cannot argue.”
