PoliticsDokubo Asari Faults Jonathan by maimalari(op): 1:24am On Oct 25, 2010
THE Niger Delta
People’s Volunteer Force and
Niger Delta People’s Salvation
Front, NDPVF/NDPSF, led by
Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari,
have taken a swipe at President
Goodluck Jonathan, over his
recent declaration that “the
convocation of a Sovereign
National Conference, SNC, of
ethnic nationalities to determine
the terms of our collective
existence was highly irrelevant
and unnecessary. ”
The groups in a statement by its
spokesman, Mr Rex Anighoro,
said, “we at NDPVF and NDPSF
as well as our allies and coalition
of associates, condemn in very
strong terms, this highly
rapacious statement and do
consider it as most unfortunate
and an absurdity of the
extreme.”
”It is regrettable, that the
Nigerian President has decided
to engage in the macabre dance
by shooting himself on the foot
in his haste to satisfy certain
monstrous political interest,
who indeed will be so glad to
hear and see the President make
this kind of gaffe, that will pitch
the President against the
progressive revolutionary forces
that conservative forces, which
General Olesegun Obasanjo and
certain Northern elements like
Mallam Adamu Ciroma
represent, hold with torrential
acerbity ”.
The groups, therefore, called on
the Nigerian President “to
retract this statement that has
the proclivity of sparking violent
protest across the Nigerian
state ”.
It also explained, “The call for
SNC is not peculiar to the Niger
Delta Region alone as the South
West, South East regions and
many Northern ethnic
nationalities, Nigerians in
Diaspora, as well as religious
groups like the Pentecostal
Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, led
by the visionary Papa Ayo
Oritsejafor have also been in the
forefront of the call for SNC ”.
”We wish to state without fear or
favor and make it trenchantly
pellucid that only the
convocation of Sovereign
National Conference (SNC) can
solve Nigeria woes as the 1999
Constitution, which also created
the so called National Assembly
are all products of fraud
imposed on us by the military
aberration.
We call on the Nigerian
President to do what is true and
right by ensuring the
convocation of a Sovereign
National Conference as this
would be his greatest legacy.
History beckons”, it said.
”We are further saddened that
the Nigerian President could
ascribe to the living memory of
our revered hero and legend,
the very symbol of the Niger
_Delta Liberation Struggle, The
Late Major Isaac Jaspero Adaka
Boro, as a militant as well as
tracing militancy to him.
This statement is so despicable
that one wonders what has
happened to Dr. Goodluck
Jonathan, who without doubt, is
a beneficiary of the ideals and
struggle that Major Isaac Jaspeo
Adaka Boro lived and died for.
We are totally alarmed and
scandalized at this great
betrayal ”

PoliticsMilitants Attack President Jonathan And Governor Sylva In Bayelsa State by maimalari(op): 11:43am On Oct 24, 2010
Governor Timipre Sylva of
Bayelsa State yesterday
described the attack on him
during a civic reception in
honour of President Jonathan
Goodluck at the Samson Siasia
Stadium as politically motivated.
Sylva, who spoke in Yenagoa,
fingered some people that
paraded themselves as ex-
militants to be responsible for
the incident.
The governor expressed regret
that a reception which was to
give Mr. President a rousing
welcome home was almost
ruined by the unfortunate
incident.
His words, “What happened is
like the bomb blasts to disrupt
the October 1 celebrations; here
they tried to embarrass …., they
claim to be ex-militants but they
are not, their sole aim was to
disrupt the event.
“The security agencies were
asked to allow everyone to enter
the venue of reception, “not
knowing they were miscreants.”

Ohaneze ndigbo is a socio-cultural organisation with less than 5000 persons as members. "This issue of northern forum endorse, ohaneze ndigbo endorse, oduduwa association endorse" is all nonsense, these social clubs are not the populace. All these presidential aspirants should tell us what they can offer, and they should also tell us how(practically) they intend achieving the offer within budget. They should stop wasting their money on these social clubs. They should meet with the masses who are the majority of the electorate, "OR MAY BE OUR VOTE WON'T COUNT".

Jonathan asks Reps for permission to
borrow $4.4bn
By Luka Binniyat
ABUJA — President Jonathan Good luck, yesterday,
wrote the House of Representatives asking for
approval to borrow a total sum of $4.42 billion from
Development Partners to fund some on-going
projects.
Meanwhile, the House, yesterday, agreed to stand-
down the Anti-Terrorism bill after it came for
consideration during yesterday ’s plenary session,
due to some major flaws observed in the proposed
legislation.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji
Bankole, who read the letter on the floor of the
House, said he got the letter yesterday from the
President.
The President is asking for permission to borrow
$2.455 billion for Gas Pipe Line projects among
others.
The president in the letter said, “I write to draw your
attention to the 2010 External borrowing plan which I
forwarded to the National Assembly in April, 2010 for
your consideration along with the 2010 budget
proposals, which was graciously approved by the
Senate and the House resolutions 85 of Tuesday 27th
April, 2010 and 92 of Thursday 22nd April, 201o
respectively.
“The borrowing plan was segmented for purposes of
comprehension into three broad category namely,
projects that had been negotiated and those that
were being appraised as well as the pipeline projects/
programmes.
The sum total for the negotiated projects stood at
$1.854 billion and that of the appraised project was
$1,073.2 million while $2.415 billion represented the
sum of Pipe line Projects.
“ The category of projects come to a total of $5.242
billion.
“You may please recall that in consideration of the
2010 budget in conjunction of the afore-mentioned
borrowing plan, the National Assembly graciously
approved only the International Development
Association, IDA, component of the negotiated
projects in the sum of $915 million out of $1,073.2
million for appraised projects and $2.415 billion for
pipeline projects the entire balance now remaining
for National Assembly ’s approval is $4.427billion.
“There is no doubt that the approval given on the
component of the negotiated project would impact
tremendous on the provision of critical infrastructure
which the country is in dire need to jump start the
engine of economic growth and improve the living
standards of the citizens. ”
“Also, it is pertinent to add that the proposed loans
are highly concessionary credit facilities which the
country needs to access in order to develop our
infrastructure and create employment opportunities.
“ I have directed the Minister of Finance to effectively
monitor the various projects to ensure that the funds
are judiciously utilized and that there is value for
money ”, the letter concluded.

considering that Gej is somehow above our laws and
enjoys immunity. Goodluck Jonathan should also be
