Ikengawo:Thanks. From the above,I have a better understanding. We as a nation deserves leadership and not "rulership". |
During the military era, "rulers" is often used to refer to the government of the day. In the democratic era,"leaders" is being used. But what amazed me was the description of Jonathan as a ruler by an international media. Is there really a difference between the two? |

I was an eye witness to the stampede. Jonathan and pdp are solely responsible for the deaths. Pdp actually hired crowds from different villages to grace the occation at a fee and at an agreed time. the event started later than scheduled. when the agreed time was up, most of the hired people started to leave the stadium, but in a swift reaction the police hurriedly closed the big gate in the stadium in other to force them to remain in the stadium(monies were pledged to the crowd to remain, but most of them refused). This move resulted to a fight, which the police responded by shooting anyhow and people started scampering and forcing themselves through a 3feet door. If u can imagine when about 20000 people are forcing themselves through a small door. Thank God i was sitting in my car outside the stadium. |
What Jonathan said about Yoruba Leaders is 100% correct. No single Yoruba Leader is Honest
Why do u say so? Or u speak out of ignorance? |
aisha2:Like u rightly said, the southwest pdp leaders are the rascals. Even obj is a rascal compared to tinubu. I advice Gej to desist from this kind of campaign and face the real issues bothering on our great country. Name calling can only earn him "atiefku's agony" in the general elections. |
Damn. If actually these words are from GEJ, then he has changed greatly for the worse. For goodness sake, he used to talk gently and respectfully. Why is he blabbing like obj and akala. Problem dey ooo, Presido, pls retrace your steps and avoid the devilish influence of your master(obj). God forbid bad influence. |
President Goodluck Jonathan has stressed the critical nature of the South-West to his administration, saying that the zone will not be left to “rascals” to rule.http://www.punchontheweb.com/AddComments.aspx?theartic=Art201102094511046 |
ENUGU – Hours after it published Governor Sullivan Chime as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Enugu State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Monday night, withdrew his name from the list of governorship candidates saying it was displayed in error. But reacting to the development, Tuesday, the Sullivan Chime ’s Campaign Organisation said it was not perturbed expressing confidence that Chime would retain the PDP flag at the end of ongoing legal tussle. NEC had displayed the list of 12 governorship candidates of various political parties including Governor Chime as PDP ’s flag bearer at its Independence Layout office at about 2 pm on Monday following which his supporters stormed the INEC office in jubilation, but five hours later, precisely at 7 pm, the commission removed the names of the governor and his running mate, Sunday Onyebuchi from the list. www.vanguardngr.com/2011/02/inec-removes-chime’s-name-from-list/ |
Tunde Bakare's choice as the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari has been described as a surprise to many Nigerians and a miscalculation by the party. This is the view of Aghanya Dennis, the Former National Publicity Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). According to Mr Dennis, Mr Bakare has no political constituency and is also a northerner residing in Lagos. "Pastor Bakare, with all due respect, is from Kwara State." He said. He described the choice as one of the greatest mistakes made by those packaging the presidency of the CPC, he however declared that he has nothing against the man of God. "He does not have influence over the Afenifere nor the ACN whose political strength is growing on a daily basis in the South West," he added. Mr Dennis in a press statement said "in politics, you don't allow your opponent to cow you into taking panicking measures over situations. "My friends from the Southern part of the country have been calling to protest this choice of our VP." He said. He stated that the party is presently facing a lot of crisis in most states of the North, because of the fallout on the choice of governorship candidates, he also said that "in the South West, the ACN and the PDP will definitely carry the day. In the South East it is a no go area for any other party except the PDP and partly the ACN." Responding to Mr Dennis' statements, Yinka Odumakin, the spokesperson to Mr Buhari said "We do not wish to join issues with Mr Anyanga as it is very clear he does not understand his subject at all. "What weight do we have to the analysis of a gentleman who claims that Pastor Bakare is from Kwara state? Is he mistaking him for Tunde Idiagbon or what? Comments are free in this political season but we shall compare notes with him on April 10 ." He said. Mr Dennis however asked the party's leadership to do something very urgent to arrest the situation, by reaching out "to the aggrieved members of the party immediately. Every person is important in politics." He concluded. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5671852-146/bakares_choice_is_a_miscalculation_.csp |
Yes this is good news. This translates to equity, fairplay and justice. God bless Orji Kalu for supporting the most marginalized people of that state. |
Jonathan is so dumb, stupid, greedy and power-drunk. This sticker of a thing is true on vehicles. All security agencies turn a blind eye to anything jonathan. The sticker allows u cross police checkpoints at ease. Infact any vehicle carrying a jonathan/sambo inscription has immunity, even at the toll gates. The sticker has become a haven for smugglers and kidnappers. |

The minister of state for nigerdelta, honourable Sam ode said it is apparent that the 2011 budget cannot cope with the existing infrastructural demands in the country, so the Federal Government is considering alternative means of funding the projects, especially securing a concessional loan from the Islamic Development Bank. He also recalled that the government had recently got a bond for such projects. His words: "Government as you know, is looking beyond the national budget. We are seeking alternative sources of funding for our projects. If you were on news a few days ago, you would see the bond that Nigeria has just signed to access funds for projects. "We are looking at other sources like the Islamic Development Bank and several other sources for concessionary lending that is over time. Some of these fundings go as far as 30 years, and the interest rates are quite low to give government a breather to be able to execute these projects." He prayed that the National Assembly would sign the 2011 Appropriation Bill for the projects’ implementation. |
A Federal High Court in Abuja Friday ruled that Senator Osita Izunaso is the legitimate winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for the Imo West Senatorial District. The trial Judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati, in his ruling nullified PDP purported selection of Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the party primary held on January 8, 2011 on the ground that he had been disqualified by the party's screening committee to participate in the primary election. The court said that Izunaso, having scored the highest number of votes amongst the eligible contestants in the primary for Imo West Senatorial district was entitled to have his name submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the April National Assembly polls. The court further issued an order compelling PDP to submit Izunaso's name to INEC as the candidate that won the PDP primary election for the senatorial district. It also issued an injunction restraining PDP from presenting Hope Uzodinma as the candidate for the election. The court further restrained INEC from accepting or recognising the first defendant (Uzodinma) as the candidate of the PDP for the April 2, 2011 election into the Imo West Senatorial District. It also restrained Uzodinma from parading himself as the candidate of PDP for the said election. |

For getting only one vote during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election, a defeated aspirant during the contest, Mrs Sarah Jibril, has alleged foul play and has gone to the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from parading himself as winner of the election. The Director-General of the Sarah Jibril Campaign Organisation, Musa Ajogie, told newsmen in Kaduna, on Tuesday, that they were also asking the court to declare as null and void the said primary election where Jonathan was declared winner, alleging that what the PDP did was ridiculous and had set a bad precedence. Mrs Jibril also asked the court to declare that Atiku Abubakar was not the Northern consensus candidate for the PDP and joined President Jonathan, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Attahiru Jega and Atiku Abubakar in the suit. “They told the court in their affidavit that consensus as verdict has nothing to do with voting. Consensus means unanimous agreement on an issue or on a candidate not by voting.” |

GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu state, Monday, laughed off media reports that some PDP stakeholders were pushing to replace him with Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu as the party ’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2011 elections describing those behind the move as “dreamers”. Gov Sullivan Chime of Enugu State Chime’s reaction came even as he declared Thursday and Friday this week work free days to enable eligible voters to ensure that they were duly registered for the elections. The Governor who spoke at a special prayer session at the Government House to herald the New Year, maintained that he was the only recognised flagbearer of the party in the elections, adding that he had already filled and filed the necessary forms with the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC). He stressed that any other claimant to the ticket must be talking about another party and not the PDP and urged both party members and the people of Enugu state to refuse to be deceived or distracted by the antics of some whom he said were simply out to cause mischief. Engr. Onwuegbu had last weekend told reporters that he was the authentic PDP gubernatorial candidate for Enugu State having been elected by genuine delegates that emerged from the party’s congresses and primary held by the Okey Ogbonna-led Executive under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and conducted by the Senator Sylvester Ngele-led panel of the party. He contended that Chime who emerged from the Vita Abba-led executive that had since been dissolved by the PDP National Working Committee, cannot claim to be the party ’s candidate because he was elected by illegal and unauthorized delegates. But Chime dismissed his claim as laughable insisting that the PDP in the state has remained one despite efforts by some people to divide it. “You People should not mind those people who are making themselves PDP flagbearers on the pages of newspapers, they are only dreaming. No one holds the PDP gubernatorial ticket in Enugu but me ”. Director General of Chime’s campaign organisation, Dr Festus Uzor, had also in a chat with reporters at the weekend, declared that only one gubernatorial primaries was held in Enugu State on January 12, 2011 during which Chime was returned and so declared by Alhaji Isa Tafida, the Chairman of the panel that conducted the primaries. He noted that the primaries had been widely televised and viewed across the country adding that anyone purporting to have conducted any other primaries or is presenting any other candidate was merely deceiving people and trying to create the semblance of a division. Conducting the prayer session, the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Dr Emmanuel Chukwuma, prophesied that Chime ’s political enemies would fail in their efforts to unseat him as his mandate was divine. He warned them to desist from any action that would truncate peace in the state in pursuit of selfish reasons adding that they should rather join forces with the Governor to complete the good works he had started in the state. “I warn all those fighting (Governor) Chime that enough is enough! They should not truncate the good works of the Governor and the peace we have been enjoying in Enugu state for selfish and personal reasons. God has already anointed Governor Chime to lead Enugu state and today I also confirm that he will be the Governor of the state for the next four years, ” he said. The Bishop, who also anointed the Governor with holy oil, further urged all political office seekers in the state to ensure that they had the best intentions of the people at heart warning that churches in the state would be mobilised to ensure that unfit persons were not allowed to be voted into office. |

Thumps up to the police boys, for gallantry. This kidnapping of a thing should be confronted as such. |
Why showing pictures of impoverished areas? I've been to so many places in the niger delta that look fantastic. Places like portharcourt, owerri, asaba, warri, umuahia, uyo, eket look real good. NO STATE IN NIGERIA THAT DO NOT CONSIST OF SOME PLACES THAT LOOK EVEN NASTIER THAN THESE PICTURES including f.c.t. suburbs. This is nonsense. |
www.vanguardngr.com/2011/01/3-butcher-widow-with-saw-blade-over-alleged-amorous-relationship-with-their-father/ This is what the present government's neglect of the plight of the ordinary Nigerian has degenerated to. People kill with the slightest provocation. |
THREE children of the same parents have been arrested at Ubulu-Uku, Delta State for allegedly hacking a widow to death with a saw blade for allegedly having an amorous relationship with their father. The gruesome murder has thrown the Ubulu-Uku community in Aniocha South local government area of the State into deep mourning. Police gave the name of the killed widow as Madam Maria Idegwu. Already, the three children two males and a woman (all names withheld) have been moved down to the State Police headquarters Asaba while the corpse of the woman has been deposited at the mortuary. Vanguard gathered that the mother of the children allegedly complained to them when they visited home that their father had eloped with the widow and angered by the report from their mother, the children were said to have marched furiously to the widow ’s home at night and used saw blade to slaughter her into pieces. Their father who was found at the widow ’s room however escaped when he found that the children have descended violently on the woman. Eye witness told our reporter that the woman while writhing in pains was calling the name of one of the children, saying “ Chuks, why are you doing this to me”, in Igbo. State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr. Charles Muka who confirmed the story said “on the 15 January at 2200 hours, the three suspects (all names withheld) murdered one Maria Idegwu under 50 years of age at Ubulu-Uku. “The suspects accused the deceased of uncanny and amorous love affairs with their father and cut off her head with saw blade after killing ”. |
