OandO was well disected in stockmarketnigeria.com. if that site did not go down, i would have been referring people to the OandO section for them to get all they need to know about OandO. The kind of financial engineering those Lawyers running OandO were doing was out of this world.
when lawyers do finance and engineering combined, na one chance be that, financial engineering that makes you tie up #400billion out of #1trillion on intangible assets that could not give rise to a patent or lead to a form of monopoly...........

This is interesting. But to be fair to him, if oil prices never fell, that Conoco acquisition would have taken Oando to another level. Nobody saw the drop in oil prices coming and it could have happened to anyone. I actually like the guy.
It only shows Wale is not knowledgeble of the oil industry or was just after his cut, even a fool knows that oil prices at those highs was not sustainable, the middle east at that period was at war and there were rumors of wars every where.......... u cant be at war forever

With all the money oando made at such period look at the shells and peanut they purchased

It's very simple
BOOSTING PRODUCTIVITY

Nigerians (well most of us anyways ) don't have the mindset that is requisite to create wealth
We are either looking for luck, destiny helpers, praying our way into it, looking for rent seeking opportunities, or even the worst, looking for body parts to appease one useless Oracle or goddess of money undecided

Thinking this way; even though everything is fixed in nigeria, will not lead to development

You build wealth by offering products and services that people are willing to pay for
Or you steal another person's own and make it yours
No other way.

Assuming we were more productive, and not import dependent
We wont be so crazed about the USD/NGN exchange rate
Look at Russia that has been under sanctions
They dont care about the exchange rates
Because they produce MOST of their necessities AT HOME
And the value chains are mostly domestic

So prices of things remain relatively stable, eventhough the exchange rate between the roubles and dollars ha e collapsed over the last six years or so.

We need to banish the rent seeking mentality
And offer goods /services to trade amongst ourselves
Value addition
Fundamentally, I feel every human has the ability and Mind set to create wealth................

The problem with wealth creation is this "Can you secure the wealth You have created from Thieves"........

This is a very fundamental question that goes begging in Africa today........................................ It is the root cause of Rent seeking mentality prevalent today...............................

Why find a way to innovate only for Vultures, Coyotes and wolves to steal your KILL

InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by maishai: 7:23pm On Nov 25, 2020
people just scream demand and supply but in concrete terms what really do Nigerians want........

A look @ the ports tells u
1. fuel mostly pms
2. Bikes
3. Cars for those that can afford it
4. Cloths
5. Every other thing can be lumped into 5

What really does the world want from Nigeria, a look @ the ports will also tell us
1 crude oil
2 crude oil
3 crude oil

while the solution to this problem is pretty simple

No Nigerian including all our leaders past until now has the intent of changing this status quo

Lesson: take most of what you read here with a pinch of salt. Things are never as good or bad as they paint it.

Why are you then quick to insult people in your comments?

You don't already have an idea how the refinery will supply? Should one then say you're.... too?

When you read threads with high school kids, you may expect exchanges like ones you initiate here.

But come on, this is supposed to be a forum for mature folks, why should it be so hard for you to do your part in keeping it as such

If you knew everything or expect everyone to have your same perspective, why come here at all.

The fact that we bring different perspectives on issues is actually supposed to be the beauty of our discussion.

People can disagree with you, it doesn't make them your enemy.

Just breathe real deep, relax, you could use the happiness.

I wonder how often you ever laugh or smile while interacting here. It should be more frequently.

#STOPTHEINSULTS.

Meanwhile, there are two likely arrangements when Dangote refinery becomes operational.

1. NNPC does swaps (crude for refined products.

2. Other marketers buy at market rates. Only difference now is shipping and related costs eliminated, and finance cost reduces mildly since order to delivery time gets shrunk significantly.
Many are used to all this Gimmicks of NNPC that can never be explained in simple terms....................... My dear If u get Facility to sell Fuel and come with cash Alhaji will sell fuel to you, na money Alahji dey find.............. The more you sell the better for him.............................I suspect he might purchase a petroleum marketing Company like MRS and NIPco and rebrand for their distribution chain cos Alhaji love owning his retail depots

Very good news. The impact of this project on the economy will be massive. This is how countries are taken forward, by astute capitalists and businessmen, not some lazy people sitting down all day shouting Buhari.

But I'm still wondering how this fuel issue will work out when the refinery is completed. Will Alhaji sell at N140? or will government pay subsidy to him? Because why sell cheaply in Nigeria when he can export to our West African neighbours are sell at about N400 per litre.
Cement should tell you how fuel would be sold

My dear the world is moving away from Fossil fueled Cars, Alhaji knows this and would love to recoup his money in as little as 3 years........

Many dont really see where Policies are going to.............petrol and diesel engines are becoming much cheaper as Hybrid and Tesla EV become more efficient, These vehicles would land in Nigeria as Tokumbo............ I see the Federal Government totally removing import duties on cars in 2 years time

This would encourage Nigerians and west africans to purchase more cheap vehicles( fossil fuel engines) increasing consumption of fuel...........

The impact of the refinery would hardly affect you but would impact the CBN more as the bulk of dollars spent defending the naira would drastically reduce...................... Who know It might be LOOted

My brother I just tire.
Build factory they say no,we want import.
Yet dangote took the risk and even borrowed money to do it,it became succesful, them ban import, they begin shout monopoly.
Now e don dey build refinery, when them ban petrol import now they will start to cry.
Crazy people.
The level of foolish people In Nigeria is alarming.
While everybody is badmouthing Dangote, Many fail to see the Human Capital This man has assembled over the Years......................... The last Factory He built was costed at $600million in Nigeria with poor roads......................Those project Managers handling his projects are mad men, There are times they transport equipments from Apapa to site for 6 months......................At his beck and Call He can assemble all manners of engineers, construction workers, miners, geologist....et al
Most Governors can boast of this money but none can boast of the Human Capital this man Has

He probably has a monopoly on this Human Capital

Possible but not likely.

That's like 400k-500k per flat for a 4-flat block.

land alone in an area where such rents are prevalent should be near 10m

But with current T-bills yield, even 1m on 15m property is sweet, provided you can minimize vacancy rates and tenants' defaults.

I know one police estate in Idimu.

it's a condominium sort of. One block has 6 flats. Each flat used to be around 11m for a rental income of 400-500k per year.

There are about 500 units of flats, so I reckon it should be easy to buy.

Rental yield based on those figures is slightly above 4%.
When one thinks real estate it's better to think long term especially with growth prospects of an area, then develop property with organic growth in mind...........

With 15m naira, it's better one acquires a series of land in promising areas than say buying a flat space in lekki especially if one has rental income in mind

Many properties built in areas like amuwo, mazamaza and ikorodu say 15years ago now command the capital used to develop it as rental income......

Immediately after the protest and the aftermath.smugglers were able to smuggle and Rice was sold @19 k for like 2 weeks. The 3 week it got to 21k-24k when Nigerians started reselling.
Rice sold for 12k on the day boys chased customs away from their duty posts down here, second day customs regrouped with military police and came out, rice started climbing back to where it is now @ 24-28k

Nigerians keep wailing, they just want to ramp up revenue for fuel marketers.........
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by maishai: 7:21am On Nov 20, 2020
On the issue of rice
Rice should never sell for more than 10k but for the restrictions that has been placed by the Govt,
Rice grows like grass in monsoon regions and does not need the kind of input Nigeria will be forced to provide to become a rice producer
On a free market situation rice lands at west African ports for a max price of 6k
Surrounding west African countries especially Benin republic have built an economy that capitalises on the weakness in Nigerias policy,
They are the chief beneficiaries of petroleum subsidy(check mrs petroleum)
They lower import tariffs on items banned in Nigeria and instead make up for it as export tariffs(check out frozen chicken, turkey, ororo, tokumbo cars and clothes, and now rice)

I am considering buying Total, kindly advice.
Y don't u buy seplat
The world is gearing up for corona vaccine, 90% success in vaccines is as good as we have a safe vaccine awaiting mass production
This means the world is gearing up to resume its consumption of oil
Dangote refinery is coming on board and will supply @ least west Africa's demand...... It definitely would be easier dealing with seplat than foreign iocs in obtaining raw material.......,

Once this uncertain air clears up and seplat returns to profitability, it would speed up to #1000 before correction

Caveat: buy and accumulate in small trenches as I still see seplat going sub #350

1.) Acess bought out Diamond for about #3 per share
2.) olam bought out dang flour for about #23
3.) Ardova management bought out Forte oil for #66

4.)Larfarge injected more than #66 per share through rights issue into wapco in 2 trenches

JB posted a negative earning nine month ended September 2020.
The stock market could be very unpredictable though.
Last year was good for the company but the price did not go anywhere.

We are in a bull market and I think we are getting to a point where prices are driving up more by sentiment than any fundamental.
Will not be surprised if JB joins the bull even with the negative earning.
JB is a very funny stock that kinds of behave as if dey do their accounting in cash...,.............

They might probably report a high eps @ full year report though I doubt as I feel covid really disrupted its business operations

If the BULL don mad, if the bull don Kolo? Must you follow am Kolo? Don't get lost in the euphoria.

The following few stocks are the ones I think still have some miles to cover before this bull is over . They were chosen either because of their current intrinsic value or because they are still trading below their Year high. Zenith, Wapco, Access, ETI, JB, UBA, Dangsugar etc (For people entering the market in this Bullish era)

Stocks that are trading above their fair Value Dangote cement, UCAP,Afriprud, FCMB, GTB,Guinness

Feel free to Add yours. Newbies should know that overvalued stocks also move with the Bull.
As for me, anytime uba trades higher than access, that's a sell signal for me cos I know in due time, the prices will find their level......,

I consider prices during a prolonged bear the true prices one should pay for a stock, bull prices are jara to dividend income

I believe border reopening would be hinged on the government washing it's hands fully out on issue of fuel, deregulation, ppmc, nnpc bla bla bla......

This government is tired of paying subsidy on pms and came up with a way of closing that gap by closing the land borders........

While we wait for all court processes, PIB,NLC strike, deregulation and Dangote refinery to take effect the borders remain closed

So that subsidy payments is heavily curtailed to Nigerian consumption
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by maishai: 3:17pm On Nov 10, 2020
On the issue of border reopening,it's just a matter of time, the border will become fully reopened back.......,,

Let's live asiwaju title for Dangote

My only take is the opening of the borders spell trouble for many agricultural related industries as our west African neighbors have a better developed agricultural sector compared to Nigeria..........

One advantage still covering us is our currency is less valuable than the bulk of our neighbors

I fore see rampant devaluation among many west African neighbors on d reopening of Nigerian borders to make their Agricultural product more viable in Nigerian markets

the recent export concession (aka selective border reopening) is likely to be profit accretive (imho)
You will see the effect full force in Q1 2021, it takes time to ramp up operations, reconnect with old customers and co.........

Cement will gradually turn to gold as many west African countries will compete with Nigeria for consumption of cement

It has even reflected a bit in d prices as cement is now #3000+

Coupled with a weak Naira,(naira trades lower to many west African currencies)......I foresee a big kill for Dangote come Q1 2021

Problem is I love penny stocks and would only pray this anointing trickles down to wapco

Barring any exceptional events, I don't see Dangote cement past #230
