i don't lie Nigeria is not a United country and was never United since 1960 but citizens tolerate each other ....may it might be united in future but right now is not ....Nigerians are more attached to their ethnic groupings
Sir, u have fallen for the shaningans of Nigerian Leaders.........
I was once @ a village development meeting on how to kick start a market and the talk was especially to attract traders from different ethnic groups....
That dirty useless Aboki is useful in ur daily consumption of tomato and onion, the cunning Igbo flat headed man is useful in supplying cheap gbanjo articles that u use daily, d fhucked up omoonile is resourceful in negotiating out rental spaces out of nowhere........,,

I can keep going head on with other tribes and their importance........... Major developers have perfected the art of attracting major tribes into their abode and develop their markets........

All this talk of Divided Nigeria most times are started by leaders for mostly selfish personal interest and are peddled by people who have no economic interest in the place.........

If u tell an Aboki to stop exchanging dollar at major markets which other tribe can provide this service cheaply and conviniently like this Aboki, is it the Yoruba man that would do it

That is your own opinion and you are entitled to it
Who knows
You maybe right about the Occupy Nigeria casualties

However
I know that this one is different

What has happened is pointer to what is to come
Nothing good came easy

It's very convenient for some of us to be complicit because of the comfort we have been able to build for ourselves
But when I think of what happened to Honduras and the possibility of it happening here

I just pity all these "upper middle class people "
Because when shit hits the fan
We will be the biggest losers
The vast majority of Nigerians at this point have little to live for and #WeDieHere is the stance they have taken

So think about it while you talk about how the agitation has been in vain

Occupy Nigeria o
Every agitation will culminate into something
Oga mi......,Let me advise u, If u hear pim, say Na revolution, better run away early before you get conscripted and be waiting for UN peace keeping to come and save you........

You are right, tribal/ethinic discussions can escalate real quick. This is because people are "extremely" emotional about their tribe.

There are few things I try not to trouble people about: religion and tribe.
It's tribes that build industries, tribalism is the easiest way to build industry........ You can't take banking away from the Jews, you can't take plumbing from the Irish, you can never take machining away from Germans and Japanese.......
Once we get the tribal and political culture right we can move into the realm of economics else waring factions keep propping up

I disagree

We had the protests in Ogun state and other Northern states
Even in ilorin as well

From what I read on Twitter
The protests are spreading to even Zamfara states and I think Niger state

If you are on Twitter
Go and check this hashtag #SecureNorth
You will be amazed

Northern youths rejecting the narrative that this protest is a southern protest against their Bubu.

Something indeed has awakened in Nigeria
This current discomfort we are feeling is the price we have to pay

And the bodies that have fallen did not and will not be in vain
Nigeria big o........Twitter is probably located on few servers occupying a few square miles.........

I ask a simple question, why can't the Nigerians that protested during occupy Nigeria now come out now fuel is #160.......suffering and smiling ba

Wait till Dangote refinery comes up and u buy fuel @ #500, I guess we would be suffering and laughing then

This nationwide protests is a good development, and have shown the Nigerian youths what is possible and what they are capable of

I think Tribalism will be less mainstream going forward (at least among the young ones from say late 30s downwards; as for the old cargoes, most of them are irredeemable)

I hear this protests is leading to mass release of many who were locked up in cell without trial for one year, two years etc.
That is a very wonderful achievement
My dear this protest ended in Lagos and Lekki gates and maybe to some extent Abuja......There are 774 Local government in Nigeria with more than 100,000 wards

Everyone just goes about their normal business and listens out for the outcome of the protest

With the stories of Endsars going global, there are speculation of possible instability for the country "Nigeria", some are saying the country may divide before the next 2023 general elections.

My questions are ;
1. Is this a right time to buy/sell properties in Nigerian states that are not of your origin like Lagos ?
2. What are your exit plan for people who invested in Long term bonds like 2027, 2037 etc.
3. Do you think division of the country is imminent ?
So u too bought the narrative hook , line and sinker........

Very few people understand statecraft

Nigeria can never divide, it's owners will never allow it.........

What you see happening is just careful positioning for next dispensation

Please oo, I have a question for those with experience in transportation.

How much do drivers of 30 ton trailer charge to move goods between Port Harcourt and Abuja?

What is the fuel consumption of the average Nigerian 30 ton trailer per km?

Will you advice I hire trailers to move my goods or will it be cheaper for me to own my own trailer just for the purpose of moving my goods? (Usually 2-3 trips per week per trailer depending on distance)

What do you think is the most cost-effective method of moving HEAVY goods across Nigeria?

Anyone aware of anyone or company using barges to transport their goods long distance via inland rivers like Rivers Niger and Benue? Like from onitsha to Niger state through river Niger

NB: For the first question, it doesn't necessarily have to between PH and Abuja, any pair of major cities apart from Lagos (as Lagos transportation tends to be super expensive compared to other parts of the country) you're knowledgeable about will do.

Must the trucks carry maximum 30 tons sef? What happens if I load them with 40/45 tons? Or I attach 2 trailer-beds to one head? grin
I think u need to go to a major park and get in contact with people they call fleet managers....:: I say this cos the kind of questions are for me trade secrets that I believe u won't just get with a 3 minute chat on nairaland

onegentleguy:
Dear @ MoneymakingOppo,
it's always best to ask questions where u find matters perplexing and not castigate others by drawing incorrect and bashful inferences.
Ur assertion on concluding that those who invest(ed) in FUGAZ can never make/book positive real return would seem an analogy that appears to "spoil a ship for a ha'porth of tar."
Aligning with the right coy(fundamental health) at the right time(technical stand) is KEY !! ...when u can do this, u will likely take back ur words and never generalize.

@ Oracle has, using a fine illustration shown u how the ROI with one of the said FUGAZ(zenith) can infact beat Fx devaluation within a specified timeframe.
But in case ur still wondering whether that ROI adjusting for inflationary cutback can deliver a net positive real return, lets do a further dig.
...a brief;
Assuming u bought GTB @ the March low of N16.70-N17 and exited @ N33, that's no less than 90% gain excluding total trx cost.
Now using the formula for Real rate of return...
(RR)= [1+nominal rate/1+inflation rate] -1
Nominal rate= 90% or 0.9, Current inflation rate= 13.22% or 0.1322
Hence RR = [1+0.9/1+0.1322] -1 ...which is approx 0.678 or 67.8%
The interpretation of this is that if u as an investor had put N2M in GTB on the entry and exit pegs cited above, ur NAV(ur networth) adjusting for all trx cost + inflation will be N3,356,000.

Now let's look @ the matter of devaluation...
If we assume an exchange rate of N360/$ in early March, which would be me been generous with figures(the NAFEX/official window rate was in reality, at a slight premium above N360 peg then), and a N450/$ rate now(again another exaggeration with figures as we are this time matching the parallel mkt rate to the official rate, if u understand what I mean)... then, that would be a 25% upside.
Now hear this;
In practice, we are also suppose to compute the real return following ur Fx revaluation gain like we did above with the coy GTB. ...'cause whether the net $ gain(ROI) from ur Fx play will be spent abroad without a re-conversion to the Naira, or kept in a mattress "until thy kingdom come"(in which case ur holding period could still take a bite from it), ur Fx gain is still NORMINAL. To compute ur Real rate of return, u must also adjust for inflation.
The only difference btw adjusting here and doing same abroad is the chance of a higher net +RR given the much lower inflation peg in some countries.
Hence in reality, ur ACTUAL RETURN(real return in view) will also be <N2.5M... it will actually be approx N2,141,000 if u decide to reconvert and burn the cash here. That figure is a far cry from the N2,517,000 figure as derived from GTB.

However, I'd like to be generous with the figures from devaluation gain, so lets assume that the 25% was ur real return.
So by inference, assuming u decided to hedge against currency risk in early March by converting N2M of ur liquid cash to $, u would be worth N2.5M now.

Now if we decide to discount the value-loss from devaluation(to compare both asset play) by raking-off that 25% from our inflation adjusted RR of N2,356,000 playing the coy GTB, we'll have a net value(say X)= 75% of ur RR or 3/4(N2,356,000)= 2,517,000... which is still a premium(N17,000) above the devaluation peg.
By the way, I decided to exclude the cash flow accrual(dividends) gotten from playing these class of stocks.
Imagine if I had factored that in my computation. ...and quite possibly, decide to compound the cash flow by playing in the same or other value-driven assets before the end of the investment horizon !!

No don't compute figures just yet... Just imagine it !! wink cheesy grin

When u do a similar estimate in FBNH and ACCESS(also part of fugaz), u'll see that these assets have returned more than a buy and wait Fx player can derive within the period under consideration.(March 2020 to date)
Aside the period specified, there are also several past instances where these class of coys and a few others have delivered more VALUE than u probably think.

So u see my dear, its incorrect to assert that one can not book a + real return playing the FUGAZ class of stock.
Everything will usually depend on ur investment personality, strategy and goals.
But remember;
The QUALITY of the asset and the PRICE u pay for it is everything !!

Let me leave u with this piece of Nugget to ponder on;

"In the stock market world, the real winners are those who can prioritize their TRADE SETUP ahead of the ASSET PROFILE, and a little more than the quest for REWARD.
While the 2nd may define ur INVESTING POWER, it is the 1st that gives u a BARGAINING POWER !!
...for without it, the other can only engage the market in a mere "fight" but also concede more victories to it"
~Sinclair

"If u plan well ur VISION, u will often times execute ur MISSION. But in between that planning and execution MUST come KNOWLEDGE, STRATEGY and DISERNMENT.
...otherwise u might well be 'a prisoner of war' to the stock market and the intelligent few in it."
~Sinclair

Just be humble, but diligent and committed. ...and with time, u'll get to understand the stock market better.
