Getting into the US stock market is easier compared to getting into the nigeria stock market.

This is my 2nd year on this thread and i still can’t figure how to start, where to buy, how to monitor, how dividends are paid.

Nigeria stock market seems strange to me

Yes o my brother

BUT

The devil is in the details........::

If u really care to understand why and how those symbols we all click to trade get to us, then
I don't believe getting into the US stock market is easier than the Nigerian market.....

I'm personally giving all those trove and Chaka apps 10 years to prove themselves before I delve in fully.... Then they might have sort out all their teething problems in the business.........

In finance, a big red flag is always raised when big ticket transactions are opened up to all manner of people to join in.......

I still encourage those apps as they might revolutionize the whole trading thing in nigeria

A close friend of mine is currently bleeding, he emptied his retirement war chest of about #200 million in a hotel at port harcourt about 4 years ago....

The hotel generates a paltry #4million naira monthly of which expenses gulp 96% of revenue....

The hotel has been a source of employment for his son that recently came back from Europe for his masters and also his close kinsmen......

My friend frowns at the idea of running the hotel " Ndokwa" style as he is a devout Christian.... The hotel is out of bounds to his daughters and all female family folks to avoid corruption in his own words.....

My friend also believes in never selling property, he has lands he bought for 400k back then In Lagos that now goes for #30million a plot......

My friend complains bitterly that if this investment had been the source of his daily bread he is finished as the hotel can't even generate enough to rebuild itself in 100 years......

What business model can be used to run this hotel to generate at least #10 million naira monthly as that represents the break even point for me

Foreign Affairs / Re: Can Anyone Explain Why Biden Left Afghanistan Hurriedly?? by maishai: 9:05pm On Aug 25, 2021
What's going on is the battle for rare earth minerals, which Afghanistan is rich in............

China for so long has adopted a stoop to conquer strategy in its foreign exploration of resources bypassing international conventions.....

For so long the US turned a blind eye to Chinese expansion as China maintained an air of US superiority in its affairs...... Now China has eaten enough and wants to challenge the status of the US as world power.......

I believe

The US has accessed the whole situation and have made the decision not to fight an all out war but deal with China in their own coin.........

First they have taken steps to protect all their intellectual properties especially on technology.....,....

Secondly, The US is gradually withdrawing their influence in countries and institutions where China has questioned their superiority, to see the direction China would give

This is where the Afganistan issue comes in........... Like many countries blessed with minerals, the US entered into Afghanistan to explore minerals like lithium used for ev batteries, US in its police of the world attitude tries its best to follow international conventions while China is known for operating Illegal mines, the two countries could live together with their business models in fact they have done so before in the past peacefuly but with China challenging the supremacy of the US, I feel the US wants to tactically pass the responsibilities of world leader to China

With the US out of Afganistan, the new government would have to sign new agreement with companies operating in its territory.....,,,,

An existential question is now thrown out to the new Afghan government "would you still condone illegal mines or sign legal and binding agreement with the new mines operator......

For u to understand the gravity of what is happening, take a look at west Africa, the Congo and all places where Chinese foreign policy influence is rampant, u see that many are on the brink of instability over run by bandits and gangs as the US is tactically withdrawing its influence

The US is just trying to show China who is big boss...... They really want China to assume the duties of world number 2 before dreaming of being world power

So ordinary people wey dey say money no dey still dey offload over N522 to one USD and you believe am? Oga, February 20, 2022 na 6 months time, you go still see more wonder. All una eyes go clear las las.

Na CBN eyes clear last last .............. Favouritism will never be a good economic policy, all this bruhaha coming to lime light because of dwindling FX receipt else it would be swept under the carpet, after all said and done we would still return to status quo.......

Una good evening Sir Guru.
Thank you so very much for your insights. I gbadun you. I agree 100% that our aggregate output and export needs to go up and the numbers coming from nbs, especially before covid-19, dey show that our PMI has started increasing and you sef see say the intervention by CBN dey help many companies get back up so tey some have significantly reduced their finance cost and now have more to share or reinvest.

Oga Guru, I just want you to know say we know wetin dey go on but like to dey blame everyone except ourselves individually.

We play on wetin guys wey sabi book dey call FUD so that perception go go against naira and dem fit cash out through these wayo 'fintechs '. You just embellished it by suggesting that naira loses value quickly and I begin dey wonder if na Zimbabwe you dey talk about. I don even read here way some endtime prophet of doom say naira go reach N1000 to $1 before last December and they fuel FUD against naira so dem go fit cash out. I no wan say God go punish dem but I know say the kind punishment God go give dem go be like the one wey God do Anini , Monday Osunbor and Evans .

I dey remind you say na dis kain talk dey make those unpatriotic cheats dey hoard fx and still dey spread FUD to make those who get the fx no release am.
Now to how our balance of trade for the past 5 years dey go down, na oil price wey go down and dey fetch us like 90% of our fx cause am. Unfortunately, some people wey think say na only dem get sense come put petrol for the fire wey dey burn us with oil and electricity subsidy. Those people na the economic saboteurs behind these "fintech ". The court papers has established that they were diverting fx that CBN released for special intervention in critical areas of the Nigerian economy, go dey use the money dey buy US stocks and crypto. Bros, you use style dodge that place. This fx fraud has been going on for the 5 years you mentioned and it keeps rising. I no get the data on the fraudulent fx exportation going into the US stocks but for just binance, nairametrics reported that $38m was exported in June and it went up by $1m in July to $39m. If you do naira conversion, that is N19.5 billion being exchanged for US for crypto alone. This is just conservative and if you extrapolate the data I get from BBC, you go know say you underestimate the magnitude of the sabotage these guys dey cause https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-56169917
As at 2020, the total monthly trade in crypto is $65m and that is $780m in 2020 alone . That is N390 billion( almost the annual budget of Lagos for 20 million people) being exported criminally for USD and this number has gone up now unless CBN prosecute these guys.

These wayo 'fintech' guys, their collaborators wey dey disguise as customers and the thieving politicians will all face the same judgement; they will gather but never enjoy it let alone bequeath it to their descendants. They will lose everything at last because dem all be thieves . Forget the whataboutism, wetin no good is not good.
If no be God and few patriotic Nigerian investors, these bad people go don even kill our NSE sef! Na those kind bad people you dey scare to call out? Abeg, make dem go face their case. Person wey sabi wetin hin dey do now should bring his clean money come NSE. All the people wey wan kill Nigeria and NSE no go succeed. Na jail dem go end at last if dem no repent now.

Fear Uncertainty and Doubt(FUD)..............

The chief instigator of FUD still remains the CBN and the Government, Aside Dangote and few Government cronies who else has been a beneficiary of these Government intervention funds....... Only a select few are given an opportunity to cash out on the country while the masses wallow in tears

only way the CBN can absolve themselves is to make sure that retail investors on these platforms are protected as they hit on those sabotaging the system.........

Thé power of the dollar to Naira
It is incredible how Naira has lost value, I just checked the USD I bought at N370/$ has gained over 41% against the Naira since March 2020 till date.

Meanwhile Sukuk bought at 11.2% interest hasn't even done 3% and it matures 2027.

That's all Nigerian Tier 1 Banks and Top Tier 2 banks are exposed since 2013. It will help their forex (and translated Naira) balance sheets if all goes well. And could be a negative exposure if the project ends up a total failure. Now the project has suffered major delays and some are speculating it will take a couple more years to go live. Without the NNPC bail out by equity participation, it would have created major stresses.

The federal government under Buhari should take the biggest blame if Dangote refinery fails.........Many cushions put in by previous government to make this project reality was canceled by Buhari, I remember when dollar moved from #199 to #250,The government still sold dollar to Dangote @ #199 sparking uproar in the manufacturing sector......but the current government canceled all the incentives put in by the previous government

Oga Emma and the Gurus in the house greetings. I have a personal question and I need suggestions and advice. I have read and still reading about investment in bonds vs real estate.
I inherited my late parents properties, and I am thinking of selling off one of the buildings and plunge into the bonds market. Doing that I will become a tenant which I already am, since I have relocated from the city where the buildings reside. I believe I can raise 25M or more from the sale of any of the two properties.
Both properties generate roughly #1.2M in rental income. When I know I can easily get at least 2M if I invest 20M in bonds.
Of course it makes sense to sell. But, emotions and sentiment are in play here. My relatives will see me as 'Efulefu', who can't go out there to build his own wealth. I'm Igbo and we frown at sons who sells off their inheritance, even if it is to build more wealth from the proceed of the sale. Also, I am worried about this land sale 'curse', since I am not going to invest in another piece of real estate, but instead wants to invest in Bonds.
Never ever make the mistake of selling if u are not in the cadre of pa elewummi that have built and restructured so many properties...........
Thank God ur parents bequitted something to u, u have an asset that is generating income if properly managed, the asset also appreciates with the general realities on ground......it's better u live off the income generated from the asset than sell and still get trapped in the Inflation we all r running from

What you are saying is true and would affect all securities denominated in Naira except one invest in real assets or saves in dollar denomination which is still difficult in Nigeria.......

If we dont get it right in this country all we will keep hearing is billions, trillions and quadrillion yet quality of life is zero..................Even the government is afraid of spending Naira and finds all means to force Naira on our throats while it spends dollars.......

Oga Emma, you can do whatever you like with your properties. It is your right. We are all humans . I think a tenant that pays promptly should not be given quit notice just because you want to make more money from a new tenant. You have said this same thing before coupled with saying that a prosoective tenant whose wife is not working cannot rent your property.

You are well respected here and i have been following you since SMN days. I think you should relax some of these your conditions.

Tenants on my street have invested so much into the street in terms of security, street lights, maintenance, generator for the street light. So imagine after 5 years, a tenant who has been prompt in rent payment is told by a landlord to vacate because he has 5 years principle on his properties. Is that capitalism or cult?.

Oga Emma has dropped a Golden rule.......... Please digest before emotions................ The decision to be a good tenant is a personal decision, most at times its not even about the increment but the entitlement mentality................ personally, I have a beef with some of my co-tenant as they feel I have too much money cos i pay my rent as at when due............. There is always something that comes up when its time to pay the rent.............. I feel if one has taken time to erect a good structure in a prime location, one should take this approach, the typical tenant is a vicious animal ready to milk the last drop of his annual rent......................... I say this from experience living in rental property

I'm yet to have a rental property but when I have one I would follow this approach........... Personally one should take this approach even with the caretaker of the property, the average Nigerian has too many problems and would rather use your money to solve their problems except there is a threat of physical injury and humiliation

There are too many bad eggs spoiling it for principled persons like you and me

Please guy, be careful of these women

Never lose guard. I repeat, Never lose your guard.

If you have a woman you are just meeting, get to know a little more about her before having sex with her. Sex itself is risky.
Also, only deal with women that you know have something to lose. Never deal with a desperate woman. It's because of this reason my married friend chose his pastor's daughter as his side-chic because he knew she won't mess up as she had something to lose.

Anytime you are about to make a transfer, do not do it in the presence of anyone. Criminals are so smart that from watching your finger pattern, they can guess your 4-digit pin. Be careful.

Don't keep your sidechic totally secret, let your trusted guy know about her. Let her know she is known.

Never take a drink or food from a woman you barely know. If you notice you are feeling dizzy or sleepy after taking a drink, act immediately. Get out of there or call a friend to let you know there is trouble.
Lol, I laugh out when I hear stuffs like this, u forget that women are naturally designed to strike @ what a man guards most, if it's ur money that's most important to u they go for it, if it's ur time they go for it, if it's ur mother she strikes ur mother, if it's ur work she orchestrates ur sack

Having a side chick is no crime just make her understand she too can have a side man

This is one of the disadvantage of village or communal life.........

I still remember visiting the village as a young boy and could not understand the rave of having a borehole in ones compound...........

Those that had one in their compounds were viewed as prosperous, while those without one were trampled upon......

I still remember a man pleading with so much guilt in his voice as he offered us refreshment, praying we don't reject
