Nothing smoke screen here, even in a developed countries a notable business person cannot be humiliated like that, if it is America FBI provide security for him, FBI don't follow him about but they tell him or advice where and where to go.. Go and search Google, he is the richest youth in Nigeria today, no country humiliate such people... Thanks don't argue out of ignorance.

Don't exaggerate it. "One of the richest", not the " richest".

Buying her the phone is my responsibility. Using and protecting the phone is her responsibility. I don't spoonfeed healthy adults. I don't, in the name of love, raise irresponsible adults that cannot think for themselves. I will only advise her on how to handle the issue. I will try to have a peaceful talk with the guy if he himself invites me to interfere in the matter.

I don't mean she should fight the guy. Even you as a man should not fight the guy. The point is she should be mentally self-dependent (responsible) enough to not date a mad guy that will seize her phone. Any guy who can seize a phone he didn't buy for his girlfriend is mentally-deranged. Even a guy who can seize a girl's phone because the phone was bought by him is mad. If you fight her boyfriend who seizes her phone, you should also decide who she should date.

Toxic masculinity is the reason a guy will seize a girl's phone. Toxic masculinity is also the reason a guy will fight his sister's boyfriend because the boyfriend seizes the girl's phone. A guy that fights his sister's boyfriend in this scenario has a very high tendency to seize the phone of his own girlfriend. Quote me anywhere. And a more bitter truth is that if you use physical strength to approach every issue, you are not better than a donkey. Only lower animals follow instincts all the time. Humans are made to act with reasons.

This must be one of the most intelligent posits I have seen on NL.

A senior colleague told me he's been married to his wife for 6 years, she's an optometrist and yet he has absolutely no ideal what she earns. It felt odd hearing it at that time, however, reading this, it's not just odd, it's all shades of wrong.

There have been times when I've fallen out of love with people and later found myself in love with them, not once have I been able to trust again after a betrayal. That dude is gonna live with trust issues all his life.

If your sister is a banker she suppose to tell you how to unearth her colleagues behind the act, she should have directed you to report this account cloning fraud to the fraud control unit of the bank. The Audit unit of the bank can trace any staff of the bank that logged into your account and the mandate form used to open the account can be traced also. In the absence of authorising mandate form signed by the customer. The staff that profiled the online login details will be arrested for fraud easily.
For a start submit a petition and request your account officer and branch manager to initiate the enquiry for you.
It's not enough to complain that Nigeria is bad. Do something to stop evil when opportunity knocks!!!!!!

Thanks a lot for this. My intention was to abandon the account entirely, but just as you've highlighted, we all just can't continue working away from evil without even attempting to correct it.

It is simple:
Have two or more accounts: Don't have an ATM card or internet banking on the account containing your major funds. While you can have ATM cards and internet banking on the others having marginal funds.
When you need to do big transactions from your major account, go physically to the banking hall, the cashiers will want to bully you into having ATM card and internet banking, insist you don't have a smart phone. They will do your transactions over the counter.
If they are obstinate, request to close the account and move your funds to another bank.
Never let them force or cajole you into doing internet banking and ATM card on your major account.

Bro, trust me, internet banking or not, ATM or not, this fraudsters are something else. I happen to practice this exact pattern you just highlighted. On a particular day i got a text message informing me that my account has been successfully opened with a new account number sent to me, I already have an account with this bank since over a year which I have been using as my savings. Mind you, I don't have any ATM or bank app for this account, all my transactions have been strictly physical, that's a method i use to restrict myself from dipping into my savings. My elder sister happen to work in this bank so immediately i got the message, I forwarded it to her on WhatsApp hoping to get an explanation, in about 10minutes time she called me and said the account was opened for me from one of their branch in OWEERI, my BVN and all my details are correctly linked to that account according to what she can see from her computer screen, brethren, I have never been to any of that bank's branch in owerri. She then flagged my main account for possible fraud and blocked it immediately. According to her it's possible my account has been cloned and anything I can do on my main account might be done with that same account. I still wasn't comfortable with the whole precautions, I left my office that hot afternoon and headed to the bank, withdraw ALL my money into my regular account and used the funds to purchase crypto just to keep it away from that account until further notice. This singular act was my saving grace, about two hours after I did this, I started getting mobile app successful login notification continuously for my main account with that bank, this is an account like already mentioned, I have never used for any online transaction, I don't have an ATM for and I have no mobile app installed for it, I have continuously and consistently gone to the bank each time there is need to withdraw cash.

One significant thing my sister said was that she was certain this was perpetuated by a bank staff.

Music/Radio / Re: Lyrics Of Davido's 'Fem' Vs Burna Boy's 'Monsters You Made' by MajesticD(m): 9:14pm On Sep 12, 2020
Sanchez01:

My stance on Davido vs Burna Boy is somewhat direct and best objective, at the least to me. Burna Boy is a better singer than Wizkid and Davido. His music depth is impressive and towers above those two, more particularly Davido.

My grouse with him is the fact that he refers to himself as a legend which I find laughable. As good as he is, Burna does not have half the influence of Davido. Perhaps his arrogance is responsible for this, but the fact still remains that he has had an amazing last two years. However, if hit songs are going to be considered, as well as fan base, then Burna is nowhere near Davido.

He has always been insecure and he doesn't hide it, which was why he went after Davido first when the latter referenced himself and Wizkid as the two 'greatest of all time'. Being a legend means being able to stand the test of time and dynamism is the key to doing that. The only person who has shown he is capable of moving with trends and times is none other than 2Baba. Burna has a pattern he might find difficult to break from. He is versatile but not dynamic.

But of course, we all know where the "legend" craze started from - the grammy nomination. He believes he is far better than every other Nigerian musician and he continues to lust after the award like it is some validation that must be attained to make the statement that he is better than others. Some time back, he took Reekado Banks to the cleaners because he had wanted to challenge someone and RB chose to volunteer.

As far as I am concerned, Davido wields more influence and power in the Nigerian music industry than Burna. And no, Burna is not a light year close to becoming a legend. We have had musicians who all thought they were the next big thing after fried rice. 9ice once lusted after the grammy, just like almost every other person. Where is 9ice today? Where is African China today? Where is Eva Alordiah today? Bouqui, Weird MC, Sasha, P-square?

Like kingdoms, musicians will rise and fall and other than 2Baba, the highlife musicians of the 80's and the great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, we have no other music legends in Nigeria. The current crop of musicians are what my nephew call "vegetable musicians"; bloom superfast and wither swiftly.

Meanwhile, comparing "Monsters you made" to "Fem" is mischevious and unfair.

Dude you killed it

MalaikaEH:
Exam malpractice is caused by proliferation of schools and it's actually what the students want. New schools should meet certain criteria before they open. School authorities allow exam malpractice mainly because they have no or limited choice. I know of a school, two years ago, where the principal was new. He was the "born again Christian" type of person. While addressing the students on his first day, he told them that he will never allow exam malpractice of any type, especially in all external exams advising the students to study hard. This was before SS3 began their WAEC registrations. Out of over seventy SS3 students at the time, only six registered and wrote the exam at that school. The rest left for other schools where they thought they will feel free.

This year, the same principal is allowing malpractice at his school.

Stopping exam malpractice won't be possible unless all schools and parents take the decision collectively, which I doubt can ever happen with freewill. It can only happen when education authorities wake up and make laws that impose heavy fines on offenders.

Also, students who fail internal promotion exams should repeat the class as was the practice before. Only those who pass entrance exams should be admitted into schools. Admissions should not be an all comers affair.

If the education authorities at all levels will look into the aforementioned areas and device workable means of enforcing them, the system will cleanse itself with time.

I worked in a school like this. Proprietor was 'born again' but 'born before' when it comes to external exams. If you see this man speaking in tongues you go think say angel Micheal dey live inside. Just forget about that issue of students repeating, in Nigeria private schools? not possible. The close to sane schools we have when it comes to maintaining exam ethics are the Federal Government schools, at least that's the one I attended and external exams were strictly OYO, if you repeat twice you get thrown out of the school, that's over 10 years ago shay so I can't say if that's still the practice.

My classmate's story when we were @ University. I'll call her Nengi because she was just as hot as the BBN housemate (if not hotter sef) cheesy

Nengi was dating a working class guy off campus and would often visit him at his crib, she had some of her stuff at his place as well. She visited one weekend and all her stuff were gone (clothing, toiletries, etc) When she asked where her things were, dude said his crib had been broken into and the thieves made away with her things.

Thieves broke in but somehow only her things were missing! This was the first sign that things weren't right but none of us saw, what was to come. Mike did a 360 degree turn afterwards and started dating one of Nengi's close friends and eventually married her. I don't think they did proper marriage rites cos Nengi's friend got pregnant and moved in with Mike (not his real name) I hear they are still living as man and wife, several years later.

Nengi was devastated because she truly loved Mike and wasn't playing games on him, she also had a good character as far as, I could tell. So, I didn't understand the switch he made either. The shocker for me was the friend he went for. Adams Oshiomole will best describe the girl he ended up with.

Mike had proposed to Nengi prior to all this drama and if I remember correctly, he had gone to see her parents about his intentions. Some people say jazz was involved. I didn't know what to think back then or even now, except, fear men grin

My sister, jazz was involved? Nah women you suppose fear. grin

So there was this night my elder sister slept in the couch in the sitting room and in the middle of the night i went to wake her up so she could go into the room. On entering the sitting room I immediately noticed how scattered her hair was, I really don't know where the thought came from but somehow I said to myself, "this girl go dey dream bad dream with this kain hair oh".
Immediately I tapped on her, she woke up screaming "JESUS" and simultaneously gripping her left arm, and there it was, a fresh three finger injury mark like that made by wolves or the likes, I could swear it wasn't there while I tapped on her to wake up.
She said she was fighting with a witch in her dream, I was the one with goosebumps.

So if a woman has steady flow of cooked meals, why can't she be considered wife material? You think this is 1820? This is 2020 and if a girl is not interested in cooking she should not be forced.

My friends daughter has no interest in cooking. She says its not her thing. Guess what? She's 20, a double major aerospace engineering student at MIT. Yes! The MIT!!! On a full ride scholarship!

If my daughter is not interested in cooking no problem, the things she's interested in will ensure she can always hire a cook. Gone are the days bro...

Congrats to your friend's daughter.

Eventually it boils down to personal requirements and not because "the days are gone". However, your friend's daughter's dissent towards cooking hasn't become the standard of what should be obtainable because she's an MIT student. I pray she gets a man who's perfectly OK with eating entirely on orders or maid made food. On the other hand, I genuinely fear for how we've become comfortable with the decadence of certain positive aspects of our culture in the name of "Gone are the days" so we can copy the West hook, line and sinker. I sincerely wish we can emulate some of theirs, blend it with some of ours and have a more unique and better society. There will always be something missing when a woman can't at least prepare meals for her family. In our African culture, a woman who can't cook is perceived as not been properly trained, and for me, I will hold on to that. For what it's worth, there have been numerous advancements in technology (and that's where I believe the validity of "gone are the days" line ends, NOT in the actual act of mixing ingredients to make a meal) that's made the act of cooking easier so please don't get the wrong picture of a sweaty wifey pounding yam with smoke from firewood making her all teary. Cooking in itself is a survival skill for everyone.

There's so much I would have love to say but I'm so sleepy already.

You've made so much sense. Truth is, the times have changed to make things easier for those who will embrace the change. A man who truly loves his wife will definitely look to make life easier for her by providing equipment that reduces her burden. However, I beg to differ with the "MUST A WOMAN KNOW HOW TO COOK?"
YES, a woman MUST know how to cook. How will a woman take proper care of her family without proper meals?
