The Oba Idunganran Picture you posted is wrong, That is actually the Oniru of Iru's Palace, Tolu "Toolz" Oniru's Family |
The Nigerian Navy claims to have destroyed thousands of so called illegal refineries over the years mainly by setting them on fire, thereby further polluting the environment which is ironical considering that one of their main objectives is to help stop the pollution of the environment. I remember Senator Ben Bruce once advocated that these refineries could be legalised and they will pay taxes and employ people and he was lampooned heavily by many who didn’t stop to think if there could be some sense in what was suggested. In the 1970’s, Some Asian Nations did something truly remarkable that have turned them into economic super powers, China, India and the Asian Tigers did something remarkable between the 1970’s and 1990’s they looked inward and found solution to their peculiar challenges, ignoring advice from western agents and the world bank and did what they believed will work for their own environment…and it has payed off, They developed their own technology, started crudely at first but with time, improved so much so that the rest of the world now learns from them, we could also achieve this by coming up with models that will work for our peculiar situation, I would suggest that instead of destroying these illegal refineries and burning them, further polluting the environment and all, Why don’t we engage the operators of this refineries, where and how do they source their crude, even with their very crude method of refining, they still show a level of intelligence, why don’t we harness whatever they have and make them improve on it and have safe and standard but modular refineries all over the region, that will be supervised by the relevant government agencies. Presently they source their crude through illegal means, although the numerous oil spills in the region also supply them with steady crude, they can be compelled to get their crude legally and pay for it even if it is at a cheaper rate. They must become registered legal entities with the Corporate Affairs commission so they can access loans from banks, so they can expand in future.. If Government can consider this type of arrangement the positives will be employment for a whole lot of young people, increase in revenue base for the states, a cleaner environment because they will no longer operate at their crude level and would have to adhere to industry standards, Imagine we have just 10 of these type of modular small scale refineries in the Niger Delta region, employing graduates of engineering and others, paying taxes to the government and cleaning up the environment. The ripple effects will even reduce criminality in the region, with time these types of refineries can be improved upon and will even help to develop our own home grown technology. Building a standard Refinery is expensive, even major IOL are reluctant to invest in it, especially in a country like Nigeria where the industry is over regulated, These types of Modular refineries may be just the kind of home grown solution we need to wean ourselves dependence on finished imported petroleum products. They will complement the standard refineries in the country and as time goes on, may also grow to become standards in their own right. |
So many Ignoramuses on this thread, Man has been reclaiming Land from the sea since time immemorial, Those lands still stand to this day...Although i suspect it is plainly Bad Belle that is clouding some people reasoning here.. |
Under Construction for whenever something else comes up |
For the love of God and your life, get out of that marriage, you story sounds too bad to be true...but please, after you do, take your daughter with you or she may one day curse you for leaving her in the hands of such a terrible woman. plus I believe she is mentally unstable, she needs psychiatric evaluation, I suspect the kind of life she had lived may have done a lot of damage to her mentally. |
Motherfucker2:I agree say na she sabi why she hid her baby face, but if meddi, mark and ronaldo decide to show their babies to the world, na dem sabi too, to each his own...she doesn't have to do same cause they did. |
This only happens in societies where people have turned their pastors into all knowing demi gods, forgetting he is just a man, now that it is obvious the con man wants to enter the family using his brother, shouldn't the girls parent give themselves brain and look for a new pastor or church.... |

For all the needless insult s, shows intellectual deficiencies, you all can make your point without them...the question remains, what if he is released today, will that be the end of your agitation. I will hope not, I am personally indifferent whether you get Biafra or not. but the nuisance you are causing the rest of Nigeria could be better channelled to a productive cause like go about your Niagara agitation in a more sensible manner. |
I agree, we cannot continue to spend trillions of naira on so called subsidy while critical infrastructures continue to fail, with the cheap price of oil, the price of pms is not expected to be up to 100 naira. the time is now |
nice, |
looseweight:South africa does not operate the death sentence....years in jail is certain |
AfricanFinest:Then, you do not know what you want, do you want his release or your Biafra, he could be released and you never get Biafra, he could die in jail and your Biafra becomes a reality. |
swindo1:Get rid of your victim mentality. It is long overdue |
The death today of this beautiful lady https://www.nairaland.com/2776547/blood-sister-killed-today-biafra sister to a popular Nairalander today Viviangist has prompted me to finally put my thoughts into writing about this increasingly violent agitation of some igbos for the succession of their region to form what they believe will become their Eldorado, How Naïve ? I say to the rest of Nigeria, who are we to deny a people their right to self-determination, it is a basic human right and the fact still remains that Nigeria as presently constituted is a faulty contraption. So for whatever reason they believe they would have it better being a separate entity, They have a right to it…Absolutely. But the way and manner these youths are going about it shows their limited intellect, Your right to protest should not deny others the right of movement as witnessed at the Onitsha bridge yesterday, The Police would have being within the ambits of the law if they had applied force to remove yesterday’s protesters. Also, These IPOB youths seems to be making these protest about one man, you do not make such a struggle about one man an undeserving one at that, so what if he is released today, will that be the end of it all. Mandela and fellow black Africans didn’t make the struggle against apartheid about themselves, Ghandi didn’t make the struggle against Imperial Britain about himself and for a man that has called for violence against his fellow citizens, brazenly calling out to igbos to kill Non- Igbos in their Land, stupidly ignoring the repercussions of such action (Check Youtube for videos and other hate Speeches)..I can boldly say here that he deserves his present predicament; some sense needs to be put into him But Still I say if The Igbos wants to leave Nigeria, so be it but permit me to suggest more viable and sensible ways to go about it 1 Igbos must be united in their cause: Try to convince your fellow Igbos especially Those that proudly consider themselves Nigerians and live outside Igboland to join in the cause because these ones will sabotage whatever efforts the others makes, You cannot spoil their business. Maybe an Initial referendum with all Ndigbos partaking to show if In Fact it is what 99% of Igbos want 2 Once Unity of Purpose has been achieved, All Igbos holding Public Office in The Nigerian Federation must resign their post and join in the Struggle which will surely show Nigeria and the rest Of the World that The Igbos ain’t playing, you can’t be crying marginalisation on one hand and at the same time, agitating for a separate country. 3 Move enmasse to Ala Igbo : This reason is for your own safety and common sense, as much as I abhor violence, the reality is that a totally peaceful separation looks unlikely, so an obvious massive movement of Igbos living in Lagos, Kano etc to Ala Igbo will force the Nigerian nation to take note and probably allow a demarcation because obviously, with the disadvantaged position of South Easter region of Nigeria, Biafra will only be if Nigeria agrees to it, So my dear brothers from the land of the rising sun, Let the homecoming or homegoing begin. 4 Civil disobedience instead of threatening Violence: apart from that you are more likely to win international and even national sympathy this way, Threatening Violence have repercussions, one of which is loss of life, Folks that have witnessed war would never want to go through such ever again. Disobey the Nigerian Constitution; Boycott all Nigerian civil and social activities, October 1, May 29, All National Teams, The Nigeria Premier League, refuse to represent Nigeria at international tournaments and I can bet you, Nigeria and the world will take you more seriously I must add here I believe that what this Nation needs is a realignment of our federation, True and Fiscal Federalism is what will catapult Nigeria into a Nation every Blackman can be proud of and reduce the mutual suspicion every other tribe has for the next, Our Population is an advantage that can be used to develop our economy, There is no guarantee that if Biafra, Odua republic or Niger Delta become a country, all the problems of their citizens will disappear, in some cases, it could even become worse (See South Sudan). Long live the people of Present day Nigerians irrespective of their country tomorrow! |
Can't Fayose notice that The government has continued to ignore him and his rants and just give it a rest |
Ayo Fayose is just trying to demystify governance...i'm for APC but this guy knows Nigerian Politics i must say |
raayah:Really Important, All these aggressive People we meet on the streets of Naija are dealing with loads of Pressure, some will transfer this argression on their kids, wives and maids , another pointer to why all sorts of violence is on the rise. |
Hefemale:Objective Criticism |
I shudder at the insensitive comments people post online when news about VICTIMS of Suicide hits the net, yes these unfortunate Souls are victims and you can only feel how they felt at those last moments of their lives if you wear their shoes. You have no idea the Anguish they must have felt. No Sane Person will take their own life, perfectly sane people may kill someone else but for a person to take their own life suggest that there is an underlining mental issue that went undetected for a long time which ultimately led to a chronic lack of self-worth that the only remaining option for such a person was suicide, Experts always say to the suicide victim, He/ She had gotten to a point where they feel they are actually doing themselves and others including their loved ones a favour by taking their lives Showing how degraded their mental state has become to consider such drastic option as the only option left, They do not need your derision but pity In advanced country where mental issues have been demystified and no longer taboos, People visit Psychiatrist when they feel the pressure is building up and they need someone to talk to, In this case an expert. Many Nigerians are also of the Opinion that depression afflicts only the struggling person, but chronic depression can also afflict persons who appear to be successful, remember Robin Williams and the Scottish Manger Gary Speed, South Korea with its top economy and good social well-being of its citizens has the highest rate of suicides in the world. I would even say Africans have a tougher skin because considering all the stress we go through should probably have a high suicide rate but the apparent increase is largely due to how news travel faster these days and very little stays hidden, in times past Families would bury their loved ones in a hush hush manner to avoid the “shame” of having a suicide victim in their family, The Yoruba call it Asasi. Save a soul, if you notice that a family or friend that used to be jovial but have gone suddenly cold and withdrawn, it may be a sign of depression and the person may be having suicidal thoughts, some can even mask it well by becoming really jovial and carefree when usually are more of the gentle type. Depression is really a complex issue. Nigerians should stop stigmatising people with mental health issues, individuals have different elastic limits, the pressure some can withstand easily will break others, there is no point call suicide victims cowards as if killing oneself I a walk in the park. I will digress here a bit, In Islam, in Law and I should think other religions too, Mentally Imbalance people cannot be held responsible for their actions, so for those that always say they are going to hell straight (Thank God una no be God) I would think not because they would fit into the profile of being mentally sick so God will understand their plight…. right? Anyways, stop the stigmatizations, Help The Victim if You Can. Depression can be very dangerous, It can even become more dangerous if the person decides to “go” with others like the Pilot that purposely crashed his plane recently and America’s countless Mass Shooters. Your responses are welcome |
Hefemale:You didn't get it......no where did i say that you should not wail but wail sensibly |
It has become rather juvenile the manner at which the wailing wailers association on Nigeria that have come to believe that those that voted for Change in the last elections must be biting their fingers in regret and have taken to social media to disparage and mock the over 15 Million Nigerians that voted for Change. Well…Listen up my dear wailers, Jonathan was simply NEVER an Option, even if said election were to hold again today after Buhari’s 6 month in charge, we would still have voted the same. With Jonathan in charge, we were simply sinking deeper into the abyss; at least efforts are now being taken to halt this treacherous spin. With that FACT established, it is also important to note here that if as a supporter of Change, and in these past six months of PMB administration, you have not seen any reason to criticize him, then you are also part of the problem, it would be sad if we all fall into the sycophancy net of GEJ Supporters who despite his many flaws and inadequacies saw him as their Jesus that could do no wrong, They helped in kicking him out of office if only they knew it. Even though I didn’t support Jonathan from the beginning for obvious reasons, sadly dude proved me right but I prayed he succeeds, because that is the sensible thing to do, the same way I expect the 12 million that voted against PMB to hope and wish he succeeds, his failure will pay no one but by 2018 towards 2019, PMB turns out a let-down, then the same way we lit up Jonathan’s behind is the same way we would do him, we would simply replace him with our PVC, that is the power of democracy. The tragedy therein would just be that in 20 years of democracy, we wouldn’t have still gotten a right Candidate with all our Human capital, which would be a real Shame The Elections are over, Time to wish PMB and his team well, their failure will have more adverse effect on us than on them, Think about it. |
freshness2020:Not entirely true, had a foreign magazine some time ago with wrist watches in the region of a million dollars to about 2 million dollars, that is between 200 mill to 350 mill in naira, those that invest in such time pieces are not fools, and those watches are not just to tell the time but expensive metals and jewels, they can serve as collateral for loans and the likes...some would even keep such in a bank to avoid stories that touch...What i find a bit immature is flaunting it on social media, but to each his own. |
hooged:+ if her name was Margaret Hello, then it was only natural that what he would have said was Magaret or Maggy, If Bella Adenuga was my Girlfriend (i wished ... ) , my first words through the phone to her would have naturally being Bella and not AdenugaDidn't believe it for a second, Another Lesson to these young Folks out there, not everything is true just because you read it on the Internet |
The Silliness of this “Vanity upon Vanity” quote As someone who frequents nairaland, you must have come across this quote like a thousand times, especially when it is a post about someone flaunting what they’ve got and stuff, Well , Here is a Newsflash for you, This whole world is solidly built on “Vanity”. Don’t get me wrong not Vanity going strictly by its dictionary meaning which is really an unnecessary distraction we all just have to deal with, but in the context that most Folks on here have being using it sounds more like broke peeps trying to make themselves feel good Nobody would choose poverty over wealth. Since death is the ultimate Leveller, Both the rich and the poor would one day die, so would you rather live a life of poverty and frustrations and die an unhappy person or would you rather live a life of wealth filled with happiness, enjoying what the world has to offer. I know every sensible person will choose the latter, Some of you Folks be making it look like being rich is a sin, and poor people are the most compassionate nicest people you would ever meet, Haven’t you met a rich dude who is the nice and always looking to help and some poor Folks who are almost always bitter and angry and holding on to some better life in the hereafter and not being nice or helpful to some fellow poor Folks. Lastly, it’s sounding to sound like some kind of Justification for being broke by these “Vanity is Vanity Folks” like it’s a mental battle some will have to free themselves from and I fear may encourage you not working hard enough to change your situation. I am not rich (at least not by the standards I have set for myself) but I will continue to work hard to be able to enjoy what this life has to offer for me and my future, whether it works out is left to be seen, but I know for sure I’ll rather live a good life, with all its vanities than live a poor sad miserable one for lack of resources, and die rich instead of Poor. After all the poor are not exempt from dying. Sorry Mod, not sure if this is the right section to post this but it was inspired by all these "Vanity upon Vanity" quotes following the deat of Abubakar Audu |
Na wah for this world o....You never know when it is time, it is time....From governor in waiting to man down.. Lessons therein for those that are wise |
IamMissMarvel:This right here is why we have a problem, why do people always expect others, especially those who don't give a f**k about to act a certain way, conform to some societal standards when all they are is just being different, without people like Charlie and denrele, the world would surely be one boring place, He is living his life, live yours. NB, he doesn't look 64, VP Osinbajo is 58 and looks way older.... |
