Food. Weather. Speeding. Mother. (But, now that I'm back in Nigeria, I see how overrated my desires were) |
Gave a Nigerian woman a bouquet of roses once. She didn't know whether to put them in her handbag, or to hold them with her Blackberry. She ended up forgetting them at the restaurant we ate in. |
achukwunet: Yes, the opening sequence is super long, but that gives you time to prepare for the amazing show you're about to see!Want to learn the violin, just for the opening credits. |
Onegai: ABU Zaria is a really good art school, so maybe some of their alumni will be in Abuja. But Lagos has art shops, art galleries and classes and schools like Universal Studio of Art. Here's a watercolour sketch I did, I'll also be tutoring people in drawing (hopefully!) this summer.Very elite. |
Been in Abuja a few days. And this is the first I've used the Internet. I'm using some crummy MTN Fastlink on my iPad, tethering between my notebook, are ther any better services? MTN costs several arms for mediocre speeds. |
A_K_O: It's quite good!No training whatsoever, I'll be in Nigeria soon, are there any I should look at? |
We all have our bad habits, and good habits. What are some of the bad habits you had, that you managed to break out of, and how? What are some of the good habits you developed? And how did you manage to maintain them? I find it hard to break out of good, or bad habits. I'm really very stuck in my ways. Something I intend to curb, in certain areas, and retain in others. |
After the first episode, and watching the first five minutes of it, where Will Graham went into his haze, I sort of dumped it for another one of the shows I wasn't interested in, along with The Vampire Diaries, et al. After watching the episode all the way through, I realised that it was one of the more brilliant shows on television right now. The plot is so diverse, but I don't see where it's going, or if there's an end-game to it all. Do you watch it? |
Kattylone: Is it ever gonna get to Nigeria?? I mean ordinary internet connection is a sweat..Whilst in Nigeria, I used the cloud, it's pretty well integrated into fundamental applications nowadays. What I understand this post to mean is when Nigeria would get some sort of peer-to-peer cloud infrastructure within Nigeria. It's a brilliant idea, location based cloud computing, one I don't thoroughly understand, but one I've been thinking about. Consider things like Skype that route their calls/videos through users' bandwidth. Re-using physical data centres in such a way _within_ Nigeria wouldn't evaporate the pre-existing issues of dwindling bandwidth, but might make such issues negligible in certain areas, for certain sorts of uses. Would be nice if people that know more than I do about the cloud would chime in, here. |
layconalabi: Price? The base model should start at $52,000. Haven't checked mbusa. |
mrsmithkay: all programmers should drop their BB PINI wondered why Nairaland doesn't have an IRC channel. It would make sense. |
Javanian: it would make more sense if you also indicate the language/languages you code in, although RIM is a dead platformNot in Africa; In Africa, it's a thriving platform. |
Does anyone have a blog that isn't about money making schemes, or celebrities? ![]() |
sharemycar: Introducing Nigeria 1st Car Sharing WebsiteInteresting concept. Not unlike something I saw pertaining to San Francisco budget car rentals. I hope it works out. Would be nice to start a blog, and document the progress you make. |
greenmouse: Guys its ready, ready for delivery.I like the general concept. It's a little like a Yellow Pages for job hunting. Aggregating the data might prove difficult, the site already seems difficult to navigate upon first glance. The user experience could be better. But first attempts are always modest, congratulations. |
E-Class Fuel consumption (combined): 9.1-4.9 l/100km CO2 emission (combined): 213-127 g/km* Gorgeous.

sodtech: SOD Technologies is providing customized solutions in the fields of website designing, Web Applications, Digital Marketing and Mobile application development.Great work. As an aside, on my 4.4 mbps connection, the jquery slider loads quicker than the header images do. Altogether, you seem to have brought a good brand together, I hope it goes well. Your Twitter account, sadly, doesn't exist when I try to reference the hyperlink. I'd like to see more of your work. |
skoten: Please is there anyone here with knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3 that can train me for 1 week or 2 weeks (Monday to Friday),am ready to pay, please contact me on 07082556307 or skotsolutions@yahoo.com.You really don't need to pay anyone. There are people more than willing to act as mentors, free. I'd highly advise, before searching out a mentor, to take this 30 day program: http://learncss.tutsplus.com; which covers them both. Each "day" is about 10 minutes long, so you can leave it running for a while if your internet isn't up to snuff. |
It's on piston heads for just £40,000. Yet would eat Veyrons for breakfast at 1.6 seconds to 60 m/ph. Probably not road-legal, though. Do you lot know any more? |
django1: Is that white walker not like the leader or something?Well, I wouldn't want to ruin the show for you, but it is a bit of a drag how he dies. |
2s£xy:Simplicity is rarely, if ever, simple to implement. |
spywareczar: like seriously?? u bought PS CS6 from adobe creative cloud?? dude thre re like hundreds of torrent sites to download what ever full version softwares for free, and thre re thousands of tutorials on youtube for digital painting, although my own technique of digital is quite different from d ones on youtube, coz i do the outline on coreldraw graphic suite then i paint in PS, am not much of a fan of painting though, attached is my first ever digital paintingYou clearly know your stuff. No, I didn't buy Adobe CS6. Bit rich for my tastes. I did pay, month-long for the creative cloud, however, but I really didn't set it to desired task. |
django1: Seriously, I feel like slapping that fat boy! That blade is the key to defeating the white walkers and the mumu leave am for ground, the boy is just irritating sometimes!Very little action. But very informative. |
I love art. I love painting. It's one of the few things I can do that I feel at peace with. Still a new painter, but I love it. I'm very interested in digital art. I've seen so many things on dribbble, et al, that I'm always impressed with. And often, they're made using Ps, or After Effects, etc. So, last month, I got the creative cloud, and a licensed CS6, and Lynda, and went at it. I found that I didn't really learn very much at all. And more than wasting money on the creative cloud, I wasted inordinate amounts of time I could have better spent on other things. What were the resources you used to learn Ps, for digital art, or for user experience/product design? How long did it take you to advance? |
TochiPhotos: Hi, Please I'm having problems deciding on the macbook to buy. Should I get the macbook pro 13 2012 or Macbook pro 15 2011?I don't think the USB 3.0 handicap is a marginal one, I own a 2010 13.3", and a 2012 15.4" retina. Whilst it's useful, it's by no means going to be that much of a hinderance. Ultimately, you want an SSD drive on whatever Mac you choose to get. I'd get the 2011 15.4", I think the three iterations were all great, and while they're (Sandy bridge) processors are somewhat inferior in comparison to the Ivy Bridge line, you'll still manage to get a lot done. The decision, at the end of the day, is yours. |
Donlittle: is there anyone in nigeria that uses c# and asp.net? never met one, everyone uses java for programming, why?Yes, there are. I've met quite a few. |
blackweaver: Gentoo? haba! even i have never used gentoo, and i believe i've used more than a couple of distros and i've even tried more than one bsd. I don't know how many hardcore linux users we have in naija, but i'm not sure there'll be too many using gentooAround when Windows 7 was released. And people were looking for alternatives, I found it pleasurable (smh) to create and distribute Gentoo DVD's, equipped with Gnome and what not, like a LiveDVD, just that there wasn't one at the time. I don't know anyone that runs Gentoo anymore, in or out of Nigeria. I still have a virtual machine, but I really rarely use it. |
lordZOUGA: but all bash can do is done with the help of the operating system. bash was solely designed for linux and to be used with linux only. all those windows port are IMO "bash-like". remember that bash was created by the GNU project as an implementation of the previous existing bourne shell. so the bash was created with those utilities available. I understand that you think I should talk about filename generation, I/O redirection and pipelines but I insist that this is a high level discussion and what I posted was in order. You seem to waffle a lot. Bash predates Linux by about 10 years. It was created by someone who was part of the FSF/GNU, which provides free and open software. It was later made the default shell on Linux distributions. It wasn't made "for" Linux. It wasn't designed "for" Linux. Please stop saying this. I'm not sure where you got the idea that I wanted you to talk about pipelining/redirection or filename generation. Perhaps in that book you've decided not to read? I hope you find a way out of your addled understanding of things, it's fundamental to how you learn, and it'll ripple into everything you do. Otherwise, you'll end up with some very serious comprehension problems that'll affect you for life, by which point it'll be too late. |
ekt_bear: theonI feel no pity for the fool. He deserves everything he's getting, really. |
