trash!!!
The op misunderstood the christian faith.
Because faith is sometimes described as believing in things that cannot be seen, does it mean a christian cannot ask questions? Are you not a former christian? How did you arrived at this stage of your belief? You are not qualified to interpret the bible talkless of faith.

God tells us that we are to love Him with
more than our heart. We are to have a
relationship that is emotional and
intellectual:
Matthew 22:37-38
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your MIND. This is the great and foremost commandment."

When we examine our world and the
evidence for the existence of God, we are worshipping God with our mind and this kind of worship pleases God.it is either we worship him with our mind or NOT.

Christians Are Called to Examine Their
Beliefs. God wants us to know what we believe and why we believe it. We’re not called to numbly trust everything that might be taught in our world today, even if some Christian teacher is the source! We’re expected to be critical, skeptical and thoughtful:
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21
Do not quench the Spirit; do not
despise prophetic utterances. But
EXAMINE EVERYTHING CAREFULLY; hold fast to that which is good…
1 John 4:1
Beloved, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERY SPIRIT BUT TEST THE SPIRIT to see whether they are from God; because many false
prophets have gone out into the world.

Skepticism is important to the Christian
faith; skepticism causes us to examine
what we believe and search for the
evidence that confirms our beliefs. God
honors this kind of skepticism because
He knows that it leads to a deeper faith
in Him.

Christians Are Called to be Convinced
of What They Believe God wants us to be certain and base our certainty on evidence that can be articulated to others who may have doubts:
Romans 14:5
Let each man be FULLY CONVINCED IN HIS OWN MIND.

Conviction is the result of certainty, and
certainty is the result of evidential
confidence. We are called to be convinced by mastering the evidence
that supports what we believe. The
Christians life is not one of "wishful
thinking"or"hope in the unreasonable".
It is a life of certainty, grounded in the
evidence.

Conclusions
Christians can be "case makers" precisely because the Christian faith is an evidential faith. When we, as Christians, argue for the truth of the Christian Worldview, we are not sharing an opinion. There either is a God, or there is not. Jesus is that God, or He is not. Salvation comes through Christ alone (as Jesus Himself maintained), or it does not. This is not a matter of opinion, personal preference or wishful thinking. The Christian faith is grounded in evidence that can be assessed and evaluated. The Christian faith is an evidential faith.

I want to ask you a questions but I remember you're not an evolutionist

- Did God create other human beings apart from Adam &
Eve?

After Adam lay with Eve and they conceived Cain and later Abel, Cain killed Abel due to jealousy, and was then punished by God. He appealed to God that he being a wanderer, anyone who sees him may just kill him, then God placed a mark on him, and if anyone killed him, 7 lives will be taken in return.

Long story short:

Genesis 4:17
" Cain and his wife had a son and named him Enoch, then Cain built a city and named it after his son".

Hold up! Cain and his WIFE! My question now is, who was this woman cain married? How did she come to be? Did God create other human beings apart from Adam & Eve.

I believe to understand the bible, one had to start from the beginning, which is Genesis to know how things came to be.
the bible does not specifically say it only cain and abel was the son of adam,. Although Cain does seem to be the firstborn, the text is not clear that Abel was the second born, but only that he was the second son. Later, the narrative indicates that Adam and Eve produced "other sons and daughters." So, it is possible that Adam
and Eve produced daughters between the births of Cain and Abel. It is also likely that others sons and daughters
were produced after the birth of Abel.
We don't know how old Cain and Abel
were when Cain murdered his brother,
but they seem to be at least young adults, since they are both engage in a
trade. for their living.
Although the period of time between the birth of Cain and the death of Abel is not given in the Bible, it would seem that this period was probably over 100 years, since the birth of Adam's next son, Seth is said to have occurred when Adam was 130 years old. Adam and Eve could have produced many daughters during that period of time.
It is possible cain would have marry one
of this sister.

All of these events happened before the law was given. According to the Apostle Paul, when there is no law, there can be

no violation of the law or sin.
Romans 4:15
for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.

Romans 5:13
for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

So, since the law against incest was not given until thousands of years later, there was no theological problem with Cain marrying his sister.

OAM4J see if you could add this for this weekend treat as a complement to the original thread.
nice one brother.

Many times you will see some detractor
bring out a list of so-called contradictions. There are many online
and some are quite long. All go to great
lengths to try and prove that the Bible is
filled with errors. However, if one is
looking at these passages objectively,
you will find it is the list maker who is
being dishonest in his approach. That's
because they have chosen to ignore the
context in which the statement.

You see,CONTEXT is really the thing that
determines what the speaker is trying to
convey for any passage. If I were to say "I missed my family today" you may
assume that I meant I felt a longing to be with my family when I couldn't. However, if I put the sentence in this context: "I missed my family. It looks like they left five minutes before I arrived." then the meaning of the statement changes dramatically. Finally, if the context is "We had a great time at the picnic. I hit all my friends with water balloons. I missed my family." then we have another meaning.

Let's extend this idea to two statements.
If I were to tell a co-worker on Monday "I had some good family time at the picnic", then later tell someone else "I missed my family" you might think this is a contradiction, but since the context for the second sentence may be understood in a different manner, you can quickly see that the contradiction doesn't exist. Most of the contradiction fell into this error, the critics ignore the LARGE context. You CANNOT explained the whole context with just ONE VERSE.

"The Bible must be the invention either of good men or angels, bad men or devils, or of God. However, it was not
written by good men, because good men would not tell lies by saying ‘Thus saith the Lord;’ it was not written by bad men because they would not write about doing good duty, while condemning sin,and themselves to hell; thus, it must be written by divine inspiration”

Ok. But did He (Jesus ) said it in the bible that "I 'm God"? Did the old prophecy says the Messiah will be God himself ? He is to be like Moses. Not half God and half man. Moses was fully a man.
my post do not say half god and half man. there can NEVER be half god and half man. I say FULLY GOD and FULLY MAN.

Jeremiah 23:5-6 'The days are
coming,” declares the LORD, “when I
will raise up to David a righteous
Branch, a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the
land. In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety. This is
the name by which he will be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness.

The Messiah is given the name of God
alone. YHWH

Now. I want you to take a close look at this verse:

Micah 5:2 But thou, Beth-lehem
Ephrathah, which art little to be
among the thousands of Judah, out of
thee shall one come forth unto Me
that is to be ruler in Israel; whose
goings forth are from of old, from
ANCIENT DAYS .

In regards to the Messiah’s HUMAN origin He is said to have been born in
Bethlehem(in a specific period of TIME) , but regarding His DIVINE
origin He is said to be ‘from old, from
ANCIENT DAYS .’meaning the messiah has no BEGINNING.

In Micah 5:2 ‘The Hebrew for ‘from long ago, from the days of eternity’ are the strongest Hebrew words ever used for eternity past. They are used of God the Father in Psalm 90:2

There are many reason Jesus do not say the word 'I am God' do you expect Jesus to tell the Jews (who sees Him as human) I am God? The Jews will arrest him for blasphemy, infact that was the reason Jesus was crucify. ONE thing for sure, Jesus do not deny being called God. Infact Jesus even bless peter for calling him God.

tartar9 am not surprise, you are in support of the amalikites who are idol worshipers (maby it is because islam is paganism)

The Amalekites attacked the Israelites
without apparent provocation as they
were traveling during the Exodus ( Ex
17:cool. "When you were weary and worn
out, they met you on your journey and
cut off all who were lagging behind" ( Dt
25:17-18). They later attacked Israel
during the time of the Judges (Jdg 3:13)
and often raided the Israelites' land after
they had planted crops, leaving them
with nothing ( Jdg 6:2-5). God punished
the Amalekites by ordering Saul to
destroy them ( 1 Sam 15:2-3) - over 300
years after they had first attacked Israel.
During that time, the Amalekites had
contact with the Israelites and would
have heard about God. They could have
repented and changed their ways, but
they continued to raid and plunder other
cities up to the time of Saul and David (1
Sam 30:1-3). The Amalekites that Saul
and David warred against were clearly no
better than their ancestors who had first
waylaid Israel.

instead of you to reply the op, you are saying different things here, I've already debunk this claims before. Here is my reply .

in number 31. the Midianites were
descendants of Abraham through
Keturah, and by the time of Numbers 31,
were a ‘tribal league’ of different clans
and families. The midianites were
corrupted and they are seducing isreal to
worship others gods:
Numbers 25:1-3
1 While Israel was staying in Shittim, the
men began to indulge in se*xual
immorality with MOABITE WOMEN,2 who
invited them to the sacrifices to their
gods. The people ate and bowed down
before these gods. 3 So ISREAL JOINED IN
WORSHIPPING the Baal of Peor. And the
LORD's anger burned against them.
You see, the isrealite were having
se*xual intercourse with the moabite
women ,and this women are baal
worshippers , because God had promise
an everlasting covenant with Abraham,
so he want to preserve the midianites ,
hence He save the virgin, infacte this
virgin had to wait outside isreal for
purification:
Number31:19
19 And all of you who have killed anyone
or touched a dead body must stay
outside the camp for seven days. You
must PURIFY YOURSELVES and your
CAPTIVES on the third and seventh days.
And in number 25:17-18. It state why
God oder the killing:
The LORD said to Moses, 17 “Treat the
Midianites as enemies and kill them, 18
because they treated you as enemies
when they deceived you in the affair of
Peor and their sister Cozbi, the daughter
of a Midianite leader, the woman who
was killed when the plague came as a
result of Peor.”
The reasons are stated in this passage as:
(1)hostilities taken by the Midianites; and
(2) deception of Israel by them, in the
‘affair of Peor’. So God preserve the
virgins so that the midianites will not be
wipe out, for they are among the
descendant of Abraham.

Christianity Etc › Re: Boko Haram Is Just Doing What The Quran Tells Them To Do by malvisguy212: 9:10am On Nov 06, 2015
I created a thread like this and the mod deleted it (the root cause of Islamic terrorism)

The bombers and terrorist were victims long before they even carried out their evil plan. They were victims of an evil ideology indoctrinated into them. Therefore, any terrorism prevention effort must be based first and foremost on a clear understanding of what motivates them to carry this evil acts.

It is futile to treat the symptom and not the disease. If you cannot even name your enemy, how can you defeat it? Does Islam have anything to do with terrorism? More specifically , is the Qur’an in anyway responsible for the
Terrorism? It is time to stop deceiving ourselves. It is time to name the ENEMY. To win the war against terrorism, it is crucial to identify the foe.

In Islam, it is not how one lives that
guarantees salvation, but how one dies.
Dying while fighting the infidels in the
cause of Allah is the only sure way for
Muslims to reserve a special place of
honor in Allah’s Paradise. While it is true.

Surah 2:207: And there is the type of
man who GIVES HIS LIFE TO EARN THE PLEASURE OF Allah: And Allah is full of
kindness to (His) devotees. (Yusuf Ali)

Surah 4:74: Therefore, let those
FIGHT IN THE WAY OF Allah, WHO SELL THIS WORLD'S LIFE FOR THE HEREAFTER; and whoever fights in the way of Allah, then be he slain or be he
victorious, We shall grant him a mighty reward. (Shakir)

Surah 9:111: “Allah hath PURCHASE OF THE BELIEVERS THEIR PERSON AND THEIR GOODS ; FOR THEIR (IN RETURN) IS THE GARDEN (OF PARADISE): THEY FIGHT IN HIS CAUSE , AND SLAY AND ARE SLAIN: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to
his covenant than Allah? then rejoice
in the bargain which ye have
concluded: that is the achievement
supreme.” (Yusuf Ali)

Surah 17:33: “And do not kill the soul
which Allah has forbidden, except by
right.” (U. Muhammad)

The above Qur’anic verse (Surah 17:33) is an important verse for suicide bombers, not only to justify their own deaths, but also to justify the killing of other Muslims who may inadvertently become victims of casualties in the process. Since the goal of Muslims is to defeat the infidels (kafirs) at all cost and establish the “right of Islamic rule,” they believe that the end justifies the means.
The purpose of these suicide bombers is not just to kill themselves but to kill the enemies of Islam. In the mathematics of Islamic terror, the most effective way to kill as many of their enemies is to execute it in this diabolical way. Their own death is accepted as a necessary sacrifice. The suicide bombers believe that they are rewarded, not for simply dying, but for dying as a means for killing. They are honored as martyrs because they died in the fight against the infidels and enemies of Islam.
Christianity Etc › Re: How Do We Know Christianity Is True And We Are Not Deceived? by malvisguy212: 9:00pm On Nov 05, 2015
https://www.nairaland.com/1999485/all-religions-lead-god-one

Agnostics often fall into two camps, those who believe that all religions can lead to God or those who believe that true religion cannot be discerned. This page examines both positions in an attempt to determine where the truth may lie. Logically, there are several
possibilities. Atheists would say that no
religion leads to God, since He doesn't exist. It is possible that one, several or all religions lead to God.
ALL WAYS LEAD TO GOD:
There are hundreds of religions in the
world today, and many ancient religions that are no longer practiced. It is possible, and perhaps likely, that all religions contain some truth and/or good moral advice. However, in examining religious teaching, it is important to examine the fundamental beliefs of each religion and compare those to each other. When this is done,it is apparent that primary religious teachings contradict each other.Judaism says that the Messiah is coming,
Christianity says that He has come, and
Islam says that Mohammad provided all the information necessary for religious life. Obviously, these truth claims cannot be simultaneously true, since they
contradict each other. Logically, we must reject the idea that all religions lead to God.
TRUE RELIGEON:IS IT POSSIBLE TO
DISCERN?
I believe that there are some things that
we can discern about God from the nature of the universe. The universe demonstrates some remarkable evidence of design. What kind of God designed all this, and how can we know His true identity? Most people who believe God exists would agree with the argument that the God who designed the universe must be a personal God. For God to put so much time and care
into the design of the universe and life, it would seem logical to conclude that God really cared about His creation, and was personally involved in it's creation. A God who did not care about his creation would never be expected to spend 14 billion years of development
just so that humans would have a nice
place to live for a few thousand years. Therefore, it would seem likely that the true God must be a personal God, and not the God of deism, pantheism, Buddhism, etc. So, it would seem that these religions probably do not represent the true nature of God.
ELIMINATE THE ILLOGICAL:
The powerful and personal Creator God
of the universe would probably want to reveal Himself to His spiritual creatures. So, it seems likely that God would have revealed His true nature to one or more of the peoples of the earth. Are all the
revelations of the world religions a
reflection of God or just certain one(s)?
This is the difficult question that cannot be answered in merely one short page. However, I believe one can come up with a best answer through much study and through the process of elimination. For example, some religions make truth claims that are obviously false. The LDS church(Mormons) claims that gods are created through procreation and that creatures created by those gods can eventually become gods themselves. However, this religion suffers from the problem of how the first god came into existence. Logic would dictate that God is eternal and uncreated. All religions that claim otherwise would seem to be logically flawed.
BASIC RELIGEON CLAIM:
Since many religious claims contradict
one another, it would seem that not all religions could be simultaneously true. How can we tell which religion(s) are true? If you examine the world religions, most describe ethical and moral laws that are ascribed to God. Breaking of those laws is an offense to God. How do different religions handle that problem?
Many religions say that if one tries to
obey God's laws most of the time, God
will accept you. However, I believe that
we can eliminate that idea as being true of the Creator God of the universe. God designed physical laws of the universe. These laws are constant and unbreakable. God Himself, seems to
break those physical laws only rarely. I propose that this God would not accept the breaking of His moral laws so easily. In fact, from the nature of the physical laws, it would seem that God would not accept the breaking of His moral laws
at all. Nearly all religions claim that God
will ignore our breaking of His moral laws as long as we try our best. This is where Christianity differs from all other world religions. Christianity says that our good works cannot erase our bad moral choices. Think of it in terms of our legal systems. We are convicted of crimes on the basis of breaking the law. If we break a law, we are found guilty under the law. It doesn't matter
what good things we have done in our
lives, if we break the law. We might get a lesser sentence, but we will still be convicted of a crime. So, God cannot simply ignore our crimes against Him. We will be found guilty, despite our good works. Christianity says that our bad deeds (sins) must be eliminated in order to be acceptable to God. The elimination of sins was accomplished by the sacrifice of the Savior (Jesus Christ). Jesus Christ is God Himself, who came to earth, led a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice to take the sins of
mankind. So, God Himself provided a
means of eliminating our sins against Him. However, the elimination of sins is not automatic. Since God will allow people into His presence after death, they must agree to His terms. This contract is executed through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to eliminate our sins. By accepting God's terms, our sins are erased and we can stand in the presence of God without any sin. Only
our good deeds will be counted for our
judgment. Those who don't accept God's terms will be judged on the basis of God's laws - and will be found guilty.
CHRISTIANITY IS DIFFERENT :
No other religion provides a provision for God's forgiveness of sin, which is why I believe Christianity to be the only true way to God.Jesus said He is the only way to God and that all people must follow Him to enter heaven. All other religions are man's attempt to become acceptable to God.Only Christianity says
that God alone provides the only means
to be acceptable to Him. So, either Christianity is true and all other religions are false or Christianity is false and God does not hold people accountable for law breaking.Personally, I would not want to rely upon God ignoring His own rules. It doesn't seem to be logical reasoning. This is the choice you must make.
CONCLUSION:
So, I encourage you to examine the world religions to see if what I am saying is true. Don't give up on the ability to separate the truth claims
of the world's religions. If Christianity is
true, you must make a choice or you will be judged on the basis of your sins against God. Let me know if you have any questions.

DoubleDeeX:
Nicely explained. The fullness of the spirit of God was in Christ that's why the Bible says;

2 Corinthians 5:19

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation

And God used that body to pay the price of redemption; for the law of redemption requires a sacrifice to be without blemish, that's why it takes one sinless man to die to be able to pay for the redemption of the world since sin came into the world through one man!

That's why Jesus is referred to as "the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world" - John 1:29.

That's why the doctrine of trinity doesn't make any sense because if the fullness of God almighty was in Christ, then, it only makes sense to say God is One but only manifested in His fullness in a man for the purpose of redemption. One God manifested in three offices for the purpose of redempting man---- those who are converted He gives them His holy spirit; which simply explain the scripture "Christ in me the hope of glory" - Colossians 1:27!

God rules and live by His laws...
I love this my good friend. God bless you.

Ok. Does this not validate what Christ said here?
"The Father is greater than I" in John 14:28?

He will handover the Kingdom to God who is greater.
there was a time Jesus BECAME man BUT there was NEVER a time Jesus BECAME God for God is eternal.Jesus is eternal God who exist Long before he was born in the flesh. This point to the fact the He has TWO nature (God and Man) .there are things God knows that Jesus in his human nature do not know.

Let me give you an example:

have you ever seen a demon possessed man being heal ?Prior to his deliverance he will act strange and speak with uncontrolled voice(multiple voice) but when the demon is cast out from him, if you try to explained his behavior before he was deliver, he will deny acting in such way .infact some demon possessed
Person may even cut himself with sharp object unknowingly to his human nature.
It is because his demonic nature did not override his human nature.they were both distinct from each other. That is how God possessed Jesus, God is holy and hate sin ,that is why He possessed the body of Jesus christ (a sinless being) NO wonder! Jesus had to be born via a virgin birth so that He will possess the body. and then this God and his human nature have "spirit" the holy spirit.

So when Jesus say the father is greater than I, yes offcorse, God is greater than man, the human nature of Jesus christ.

by really reading it in more depth, it
actually says the opposite. Only the children who "hate God", and sin themselves, are the ones who are punished, only the wicked and ungodly
children who are following the wicked example of their fathers are punished. The very next verse (Exodus 20:6) confirms that God shows mercy on the
children who love Him and keep his Law. This is in harmony with the teaching, "Each man shall die for his own sins" (2 Chronicles 25:4, Ezekiel
18:4,20).

why do you chose evil over good ? Do you not know that God love you ? That is why He first send His son to pay the price for your sin. The pleasure of this world last only for a night, what ever satan give you, you must pay for it in anyway. But God gift is free, do not allowed the devil to deceive you.
Read this thread and pray to God, I tell you the truth, God will ease all your worry.

Judaism is still practised in the world today and last i checked that Deuteronomy he quoted is a Judaic scripture borrowed by Christianity.

Getting defensive about Christianity here only stems from your own insecurity to shield your religion from Criticism but as a matter of fact the Op did not mention Christianity.

The verse he quoted is a very much revered scripture of Judaism and the Laws are very much alive to them, they don't even know anything like a new testament.

So forget the unnecessary defence the verse was not about Christianity, am not seeing any Judaic person complaining here and it is their scripture, what is the issue?
Do you see christians practice such law?

If God predestined our character before the world began, why does He then blame us when we sin?why does He punish us when He created us so in the first place?...is that not injustice?
evil people are predestined to serve the purposes of God through their evil will, However, they still possessed free will and would have done evil under any circumstances. So, the Bible indicates that God placed them in history to fulfill His purposes, knowing that they would do evil. God did not cause them to do evil, since God is not the author of evil. James says not to blame God for temptation:

James 1:13
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I
am being tempted by God"; for God
cannot be tempted by evil, and He
Himself does not tempt anyone.

Did Jesus made a mistake in chosen judas among His twelve? NO, Jesus indicated that He chose the apostles, including the one who would betray Him. Even Judas,as a worker of evil, was fulfilling part of the redemptive purpose of God. Luke, in the book of Acts indicates that evil Herod and Pontius
Pilate, who condemned Jesus, were serving God's purposes.
Acts 2:23
this Man, delivered up by the PREDETERMINED PLAN AND FOREKNOWLEDGE OF GOD, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men
and put Him to death.

The godless men are serving the purpose of God.this men will still chose evil because of their freewill,

1 John 3:8
the one who practices sin is of the
devil; for the devil has sinned from
the beginning. The Son of God
appeared for this purpose, that He
might destroy the works of the devil.

well its a bit complicated

but nairaland helped making up my mind
why do you make a decision (if God exist or not) via a faceless forum? Do you know the people you are reading there post? If you want to be convinced, God does not exist, you have to do the research yourself.

I tell you the truth my sister, God is there, God exist, believe me, do not allowed the devil to manipulate you. Trust me when I say God exist. Come back home, come back to Christianity. Bible say remember your creator when you are young, or is it when you grow old and life is not pleasurable anymore that you will remember God? Thank you

You obviously don't know what you are saying. First, you said it has been in the plan of Yahweh to come and die for the sin of humanity even before the world began. Secondly you confessed that according to this assertion, Yahweh forcefully made us play in his script that he had written before the world began.. Now you are spewing another set of BS. Are u this daft?
we were created in His pleasure, He predestined our character before the world began.

The Bible speaks of “the hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised BEFORE TIME BEGAN” (Titus 1:2).

This is the reason you and I were created to have an unending relationship with God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and all those whom They would eventually bring to a glorified state ( Hebrews 2:10). Having the characteristic of love as Their prevailing attribute ( 1 John 4:cool, God the Father and Christ want to share this
godly bond with us throughout eternity.
As 1 John 3:1-2 says: “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed
on us, that we should be called children
of God! … Beloved, now we are children
of God; and it has not yet been revealed
what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

You are a muslim, this truth is foreign to you.you find it strange that God wanted to have a special relationship with His creatures. In islam, how can one be save?

The crucifixion of Jesus christ is what God plan before the world began. There are many astonished miracle Jesus did that would've convinced the Jews that Jesus is Lord yet the Jews crucify Him, in fact when the soldiers came to arrest Him, peter cut the ear of one of the soldier, but Jesus restore it back, YET they went ahead and crucify Him.the crowd even chose Barabbas who is a criminal than Jesus who comit NOT a single sin.
