Politics / Republican Women Has Launched A Boycott Against Oprah Winfrey's Tv by Mamajama(m): 7:45pm On Sep 10, 2008
The Florida Federation of Republican Women has launched a boycott against Oprah Winfrey’s TV show and magazine because the talk queen has said she will not have Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show until after the election.

Democrat Barack Obama — whom Winfrey is supporting for president — was on “Oprah” twice before he announced his run for president, in January 2005 and in October 2006. Winfrey has said she will have neither party’s candidates on her show while they are running for their respective offices.

But the 58-year-old federation, which has 4,500 members, says Winfrey should have Palin on her show now, given how important the Alaska governor’s run is for women.

“She is an icon, and set her herself up to be such a women’s rights and women’s issues person. To have the first vice president of our lifetime on the Republican ticket being a woman and to sit it out regardless of what her personal political beliefs were was disingenuous, we felt,” the group’s First Vice President Cindy Graves told “FOX & Friends” on Wednesday morning.

Graves, 50, says she used to watch “Oprah” and occasionally bought her magazine. She told FOXNews.com that the group has been joined by women all over the country since launching the boycott last Saturday.

“People from Southern California, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Rhode Island, just about every state in the union. We’ve also had a tremendous response from Democrats and Independents who are supporting McCain, and Hillary supporters,” she said.

Asked whether the boycott is affecting Oprah’s TV ratings and magazine subscriptions, Graves said Winfrey is “keeping that quiet.”

A call to Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, for comment was not immediately returned.

Winfrey reacted strongly on Friday to a report posted on the Drudge Report that she and “a couple of her top people are adamantly” against booking Palin on her show.

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue,” Winfrey said in a statement sent to news organizations in reaction to the Drudge Report’s posting. “There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Before Obama became a candidate, Winfrey used her show to introduce him to America’s women voters, and she has endorsed and campaigned with the Democratic nominee. She also was very visible at Obama’s nomination acceptance speech in Denver last month.

Winfrey and her executive producer, Sheri Salata, both donated the maximum $2,300 contribution to Obama’s campaign during the primary season.

According to the Drudge Report, Winfrey’s staff is sharply divided on booking Palin.

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an unidentified source told Drudge. “Oprah’s Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

We are talking of change and not the same rhetoric slogan of the same old politicians.

Clinton does not represent change, althouse she broke the barrier of ceiling glass.

IBB has no intrest in ruling Nigeria ever again after he was disgraced out of the race by Ribadu and Obj.

We as Nigerians does not need his help. Thanks

This atrocious stories will only make the republicans strong, we don't need this type of baseless accusation, I am for OBAMA and the way to win this election is to question McCain voting record with BUSH, question his stand on war in Iraq and his economic policies.

New indications emerging on the dude that got her pregnant on myspace where he clearly said he does not want a baby.

So who are this republicans fooling?
Foreign Affairs / Re: Daughter Of John McCain's Running Mate Pregnant: So What? by Mamajama(m): 10:11pm On Sep 02, 2008
if you don't want the media to speak about your family don't go into politics it's that simple.

Even though we all know it happens to thew best of families, but the question and the values of her parents should be brought to questions on certain issues

But you can teach your kids Moral and values. They have to make their decisions eventually but the girl is 17 she is still under her parents care so her parents still retain legal rights

Foreign Affairs / Re: Daughter Of John McCain's Running Mate Pregnant: So What? by Mamajama(m): 9:48pm On Sep 02, 2008
I don't understand why people are saying this is a private family matter. When Clinton had affairs with all those women. They almost impeached him and what was the difference between that affaire and this 17 years old having a baby outside of wedlock?

Republicans need to re- examine their values before they start crucifying other people. As for Palin. when you seek a public office or when you are a public figure, any news or dirt your opponent can find on you is fair game. you don't like the heat, dong go close to the kitchen
Politics / Re: Ribadu And The Three Service Chiefs Case by Mamajama(m): 4:16pm On Sep 02, 2008
@Nigeria1@; if anyone is wrong it is you. the National assemble does have the power to confirm and the president can appoint or nominate a candidate for the 4 service chiefs in Nigeria.

It is clearly define in the constitution

Politics / Ribadu And The Three Service Chiefs Case by Mamajama(m): 9:08pm On Sep 01, 2008
We were told the honorable Ribadu was demoted because of irregularities and that due process was not followed to get his elevation to the rank of AIG confirmed.
'

Last week the president replaced all three service chiefs without confirmation from the national assemble.

QUote" Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has faulted the appointment of recent service chiefs by President Umaru Yar‘Adua, describing it as unconstitutional and illegal.

Keyamo said that under the 1999 Constitution, the President could only appoint the service chiefs with the approval of the the National Assembly, stressing that since the latest appointment was not confirmed by the nations lawmakers, the appointment was null and void.

Keyamo disclosed this in a statement he made available to our correspondent on Sunday.

In the statement, Keyamo stated that the power to appoint service chiefs, which is provided for under section 218 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution empowered the president to make the appointments in consonance with the Armed Forces Act of the National Assembly."

So my question for Mr president is where is your so called judgement and rule of law? why are the useless law makers silent over this appointment without criticism
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama Will Lose by Mamajama(m): 8:34pm On Aug 29, 2008
@merge are you even a citizen? are you qualify to vote? how can you vote for a man that does not know how many houses he owns?

if your excuse for voting for GOP is because of Clinton then you are pathetic and when you loose that job and you cant afford to buy gas for your car. don't come here crying
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama Will Lose by Mamajama(m): 8:12pm On Aug 29, 2008
Amazing how the GOP are saying OBAMA  is not ready to lead, and yet they picked a woman that is not known beyond Alaska?

How many people on nairaland or in USA even know who this woman  is?  this selection shows nothing but desperation to get Clinton voters and it will backfire watch

She has more experience catching fish than dealing with foreign policy or national affairs

Joe will demolish her in debate
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama Will Lose by Mamajama(m): 8:04pm On Aug 29, 2008
People need to really start thinking and stop paying attention to the polarize and infiltrated media.  Clinton had 18 million voters right?

If each one of the 18 million voters she had truly care about her and donate $1  to reduce her debt,  she would be better off, why was she only able to raise $2  last month?

The wind of change is blowing and  we are all united to move OBAMA  into the white house.

The GOP cant even get 10,000  people to watch McCain nominate his VP.  go figure
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama Will Lose by Mamajama(m): 8:01pm On Aug 29, 2008
@merge please start thinking with your head and not your leg.  How will Obama loose to McCain ?  the selection of the GOP female VP candidate is an insult to  any female that vote for GOP.

This just shows how desperate they  to steal this election like they did in the past.

They are failing to realise that the whole country is moving for change and we can not be intimidated this time around.

what policies does GOP has beside sending troops to invade IRAQ?

OBAMA is bigger than life and this election is not about OBAMA, its all about CHANGE

Equality before the law, if the police service commission wants to be non partial. they should look at all the police officers that have been neglected for over 7 to 10 years without promotion.

what will be their excuse for all this negligence?

DUfus BIGB1 if you recollect what I told you once before and i will reiterate it again to you like a primary child.

Ehindero is too smart and will not do anything stupid to jeopardise his reputation. What does a self made man with integrity at his age need to steal for?

Zombie get with the program, they can try and will never succede, how many times has he been invited for questioning? he honored all the invitations and went and gave his explanation. That is a maverick and not a clown like IBB that does not honor any invitation that the OKIGBO and OPUTA panel summon him to.

peace

Please check United state constitution it's illegal to receive money from other countries towards campaign funds.

Not sure what her intentions were or what she plan to do with the money. You cant even contribute to a political party if you are not a United state citizen and the max you can contribute i think is $2500
Politics / Re: Police Threaten Strike by Mamajama(m): 9:07pm On Aug 20, 2008
People read between the line. this are specialist not the whole Nigerian police force.

This strike will only affect Nigerian police force since most of their families are beneficiaries of the services this Special unions provide.
Politics / Re: Ribadu; The Architect Of His Own Cross!~ by Mamajama(m): 4:42pm On Aug 20, 2008
@abdurrazaq the only innocent Nigerian that Ribadu arrested and detained was MUHAMEND BABANGIDA and that is why BIGB1 and his toothless father are still so bitter about RIBADU.

@BIGB1 remember RIBADu is only 45 and still had 15 years left in service. Nigerians have not seen the best of this man yet. he will be back with a vengeance and will prosecute IBB and all other cronies
Politics / Re: Ribadu; The Architect Of His Own Cross!~ by Mamajama(m): 9:34pm On Aug 19, 2008
@BIGB1 you are such a DUFUS, do you know what the police service commission that was commission on April 15th 2008 called before?

POLICE AFFAIRS OFFICE.

The IG has the power and right to recommend people for promotion. The Police affairs will approve the recommendation

The president was the chairman of police affairs commission before police service commission.

Boy go back to elementary school. Do you think police is like Army where people like IBB can elevate themselves to general?
Politics / Re: Ribadu; The Architect Of His Own Cross!~ by Mamajama(m): 8:41pm On Aug 19, 2008
The person who approve the promotion was Simon OKEKE and the president Olusegun Obansonjo.

Check the facts but the press won't tell you that.

@BIGB1
Question will you be here crucifying Ribadu as nemesis in Nigerian if he hadn’t gone after your family? IBB?

Please Name one Nigerian before Rebadu that was so fearless and successful in tacking corruption in this great nation of ours?

Must Ribadu effort and relentless work go unnoticed? WAZIRI is benefitting from the phenomenal hard work that Ribadu and his associate did. Your Father IBB gave us 419 and legalizes corruption in Nigeria, we have one defiant Hausa Boy Ribadu who was ready to die for his country and yet people like you are always smearing his image.

The politics that led to Ribadu demotion and humiliation was promulgated by what he did to Tafa Balogun. Okiro has always been Tafa’s boy and he is just doing everything in his power to curtail Ribadu. Be on the look out for part two of the story, this is not the end of this story.
Politics / Re: Police Demotes Ribadu- Ex Efcc Boss by Mamajama(m): 8:20pm On Aug 11, 2008
Politics of the big boys. OBJ was the chairman of PSC in December when Ribadu was recommended for promotion. Newly Inaugurated PSC was established in April 15th.

Amazing how they are saying due process was not followed?

There is more to this story, i just dey looku and laughu like Fela said.
Politics / Re: Bode George Arrested By EFCC by Mamajama(m): 8:17pm On Aug 11, 2008
if anyone is to be praise for arresting Bode Gorge it should be Ribadu.

the investigation commence under his administration, he just wasn't left to finish he job.

Waziri is getting all the credit now, but any smart individual will know detailed investigation takes time and can not be completed in a month with the complexity that we have in Nigeria
