I'm a silent reader, expecting my LO soon. This post brought me out. Pls, stop using that Lexotan. It is dangerous in pregnancy. I repeat, stop using Lexotan. I was a regular Lexotan user due to migraine but I never use it when pregnant. There is aspirin which you can combine with aldomet to regulate BP in pregnancy. I'm also presently on aldomet. You can Google 'Lexotan in pregnancy' for more knowledge.
Mothers, pls always double check medications prescribed by Doctors before you take them o. Not all doctors have the right knowledge to handle every case. Our joy will not be cut short in Jesus name.

Am no medical practicioner but please i would just add one one bit. Most drugs are not good in preg wel except for the multi vitamins .

Now here in the UK , if you have raised BP at booking or you are profiled and maybe you have a high BMI you are immediately placed under consultant care and instructed to start Aspirin 75mg or 150mg every day as the case maybe from your booking date . I have been on Aspirin since my 12 weeks and so far so good. You are also instructed to take ADCAL ( a combination of calcuim and Vit D ) and you would be having bi weekly assessment of your baby as well as growth scans too. In your maternity notes, your doctor stops you from taking aspirin from 36 weeks , at this point it is believed the baby has duly formed and really there is no need for the aspirin . Also to enable your blood clot easily in case you need CS or inducement. Also aspirin tends to reduce platellets, so bad as e bad if the platelets drops below what they deem fit, they do platellet transfusion for you, no time to waste .

In the UK , Labetalol is the preffered BP drugs for GHBP and your dose can be uped to like 1200mg a day by your consultant as long as the assessment has bn carried out and your body can take it. They can also add another drug too if lavetalol dnt do the work.

Now to Aldomet , i personally know someone who has birthed 3 kids . She was on Aldomet/ Nefedipine and Aspirin all 3 pregnancies and has no issues at all. Aspirin acc to what we were told is to help thin the blood to enable easy flow from mother to child via the placenta. It also helps prevent preemclapsia. So yes while aspirin is not good, if your consultant deems it nevessary, you are advised to take it till 36 weeks.

Am not a doctor o but this is what they teach or discuss with us when we meet our consultant for assessment.

Aspirin doesn't reduce blood pressure and it is also not safe for pregnancy, aspirin could even make someone with high BP have blood leaking into the brain which could cause stroke, in as much as lexotan is bad during pregnancy aspirin is also not good especially for someone with high bp

Please do another independent scan and compare notes . Also mention to your doctor as well. I was looking through the internet and stumbled on this.

We are know this is a guide but at least it should fall somewhat within the ranges u get.

With so much tears in my eyes Am out of the race mummies, I was booked 4 cs on monday but sunday morning i wasnt hearing my baby movement, he Wasn't playing with me, so i ran to the hospital doctor wasnt on ground, d nurse checked heartbeart and said baby is fine I guess she didnt want me 2 panick, but i was not convinced i went round the town no were to do scan because it was on a sunday morning.

fast toward to Monday I left home as early as 7am with my mother in law because DH wasn't around, so I did d scan and d radiologist said I should go give my doctor the result,

when doctor saw d report he just told me DAT instant that baby was dead, I almost collapsed. my bp rose to 160/110
.
they placed me on injections and bed rest till Tuesday morning to bring baby out. I felt pain throughout that night so Tuesday morning we were waiting for doctors to do cs, but he came some minutes past 9am as against his usual 8/8;30 timing.

marathon prayers were held here and there for me,
i didnt know d stomach pains was labor so when nurse check me she say am in labour (4cm) before the team of doctors came ,and checked again, my bp also reduced so they said no cs again that I'll give birth myself.
.
that was how the journey of excruciating pain started from 9 am till 4pm before main show started, I saw hell the doctors and Master Jesus took charge and baby was forced out at 4;20pm
.
help ME thank Master Jesus for saving me despite prophesies I came out alive but without my son.

my problem now is my breast its as strong as stone I couldn't sleep throughout d night.

God is wonderful awesome and great!

And wit immense gratitude to the most high, I hereby announce the birth of my princess at 6:22am this morning through vaginal delivery with minimal tears.

I got to the hospital at 5am and had my daughter at 6:22am with less drama.

Isn't God great?

Am sorry for responding late. I thought i responded to this. Its a leaflet they gave us here when i went for ante natal .

U know how this oyibo people are. They said my sugar level was slightly high . Na so them put me for GD team oo. Gave me leaflet and monitor to be checking and updating everyday. You update the time you eat and what you eat so that once a week when they call you to review, they know the next line of action.

So try and follow it as best as you can

God would surely help us all in Jesus name.

It usually goes after birth but u need to reduce carbs and eat more protein . If u cn get a monitor and be checking . It would help you so u can know which food to avoid. Here in the UK , they give u a blood sugar monitor and tell you to check first tin in the morning and 1 hour after ur meals . You record these readings in an app and they use this to monitor and when your levels are high they can increase ur dosage of drugs ( metformin or insulin ) but first reduce carbs to the barest minimum. If u must take carbs you need to pair them with protein.
I would check where they gave examples of meal ideas.
I have attached some pix from the leaflet i was given . You can use this as a guide .

That thing is not funny . I wont lie . It happened to me last 2 weeks or so. I ate like 2 cucumbers and drank water like a mad woman that day and luckily for me the things just softend and droped. Kia what a huge relief . A friend advised that every morning i shld make sure i drink enough water , sit in the toilet with my leg slightly propped up to encourage my bowels to move in order to stimulate do~do.

Also u should be taking more fibres and i read that constipation happens to some pregnant women so u can say its part of the package.

You need to monitor your carbs and sugar intake . Also drink plenty of water and avoid sugary foods, snacks and fruits. U shld also try monitoring your sugar levels and observe the foods that triggers sugar levels.

i dont think its much . i am aware people take 1500mg a day to stabilize the pressure. i know someone who took 1500mg a day for all her 3 pregnancies with aspirin andif you se her kids, all came out chubby and fine . so you are good to go.
Here in the Uk, they give you labatalol( am currently on 1200mg a day ) and advise you take baby aspirin 150mg a day. You can try and get a good blood pressure monitor. OMRON is a good brand and was confirmed ok by my specialist midwife when i showed her.
The specialist midwife says the gains outweigh the negatives and its better to manage your pressure and secure the health of your child .
also you can also help by juicing cucumber or eating them often daily to help you too . drink PLENTY water to flush off the medications . always ensure you take walks like 30 mins a day and try as much to rest and worry less. Also as often as possible , sleep on your left side. Also, always pray . commit all to God's hands . you would be fine .

Was feeling massive headache for 2 days so I went to hospital to register for antenatal and it was discovered that my BP is high 140/80. I didn't had such through out the first pregnancy.

Dr PRESCRIBED Aldomet 500mg tabs morning and night for 2 weeks.

Please am scared about the dose which I told her that being the first time, wasn't it to too? I thought they will start with small dose and not jump to that high does at once. Dr said no that it's okay for me.

Please is that how they PRESCRIBE the drug? If I start taking it will the bp normalize and I won't need the drugs again? I'm scared of long time use of drugs. The thought of taking it alone is frecking me already.

Merry Xmas everyone . You dont need to take anytin for your biometrics. Just your passport , appointment print out. Even if you carry evrytin they wnt take it from you. You are expected to send dem to your spouse in the UK who would mail it to Home office. Well that is what i was told and that is what i did. I sent all the docs i had here to my hubby tru DHL and he got it 2 days after. Immediately he added his after arranging it well and sent it to them through Royal mail and they got it the next day.

Yes that is the standard procedure. They only take your passport and then the front page of your application. That is all. You are then advised to send all supporting docs to ur partner in the UK who in turn wuld add his or hers and send to Sheffield. The address would be given to you there if you dont have it. I tink someone (maybe me. Lol. ) asked this question some time in Oct abt docs to carry along while going for biometrics. Its all good. Notin to worry about. Now u can start ticking off the days in your calendar.

Just here to update, I was advised by the house that TLS wouldn't take documents but to my dismay they only took my husbands passport and scanned the front of his application form. No IHS, No TB, No VAF form, they said he's got to post every single document to Sheffield.

Is this what every one else has experienced please? I don't know if I'm over reacting but if we've spent £1500, the least they can do is scan the applicants docs while I post mine here in the UK. The most revolting part is TLS then sent a feedback request email. I mean is this a practical joke?

Yea. Very correct . Mine was nt even up to 20 minutes. Please smile and dnt be stiff. Also listen very well as the examiner wukd want to see aw well u communicate with the person u wuld be paired with. My advise , while waiting to be called in the room. . U cn strive up a small convo wit the person u are paired wit to put u at ease. It worked for me and today i still call and chat the person.

Let me add to this, the ielts test is a very simple English test, it won't take more than 20minutes.
They just wanna know how good you can speak n listen.
You'd be paired with another candidate to interact with while an audio will be played for u to listen to. Listen carefully and answer the few questions it contains.
Don't form phonetics o, just be yourself and remember to smile while communicating with your partner and the supervisor/invigilator.
