SirWahl1: This is bull sheet as in CAPITAL LETTER BULL SHEET. Where did you get all this from? Come and see people balling in yankee. The only disadvantage is inability to come home but if you are street smart, you should be able to visit home in 3 years. Note I do not support illegal migration but please dont come here and just lie anyhow . Bank Account? Contact family? ICE after you in America? Pray tell how many Nigeria American deportee you have seen on the street. Stay out of drugs and crime. Depends on where you live. Where I live, you cannot even rent an apartment if you're on a visiting visa unless someone cosigns for you. And not a lot of people, including myself would do that. How does he want to come home in three years? By marrying for papers and getting citizenship after three years? Constantly worrying about how to prove to USCIS that the marriage was not a fraud or sham and praying fervently that USCIS does not give him an RFE when he submits his papers for AOS? Where will he get the thousands to pay for the marriage? Work and make it up? That's if you get a job. In big Nigerian populated cities and states. It's easy, you will work in African stores and establishment for a shitty pay and they will threaten you with deportation all the time. A life as an illegal immigrant, especially without people who will give you a soft landing is not life worth living, at least for me. |

Interview process na who sabi spin yarn pass - whilst coming across as truthful and honest.
Why do you have your marital status in your CV? it is completely irrelevant, same as including religion.
Waltz in their brandishing your ring: If it comes up during the interview and are asked why you didnt put it .....
Tell them simply: you do not believe it is relevant factor that determines how effectively you will do your job.
Jokingly tell them that marital status is hardly a qualification. Except the job is for marital councelling and even at that the years of experience will still be a determining factor, even at that that does not make one an expert.
It is almost like asking people to add your s exual orientation on a CV... who cares if you are celebate, straight or gay?
I personally do not even put date of birth on my CV anymore. I do not put title of Mrs sef just my full name ( it is unisex, i add middle name as initials and a double barrel surname - that is the only indication that you may think that i may be a married female) . And any other proffesional qualification titles you have.
I know of people who put a small photo( passport type but fine oh) rather than sex. But that i think is not necessary.
Even when it comes to kids, if they ask: yes you are a mother but you do not foresee how being a mother will affect you doing the job as advertised. Turn the question back at them and ask if there are any expectations of the job that have not been provided in the job description that that you should be aware of. Such as your expected contractual working hours, if the job requires regular impromptu travel etc.
If they ask if that will affect the job, be honest. tell them ofcourse you have a young family, that needs to be considered as there is a limit to impromptu events that you can accomodate, tell them you like to be organised and you will like make adequate child care plans as required preferable in advance to meet the demands of the job.
if it is an office based job with regular hours between 8am and 6pm with the odd times that one stays late it should not be a problem. If you are however required to work late consistently then there is a problem, it is either a case of too few staff for the workload or loads of ineffecient staff faffing about and forming activity. I don't even have any personal detail on my resume. Just my name, address, email address, cellphone number, education, certifications and work experience. Anybody that picks up my resume does not even know if I am female or male. Left to me, I'll leave personal detail out. It's just a shame that Nigerian employers can blatantly deny you a job based on marital status. I'm saner climes, they won't try it cos they know you'll sue the pants off them. Smh. I got my present job when I was 34 weeks pregnant and started when I was 36 weeks. I gave birth exactly at 40 weeks ans I got 6weeks fully paid maternity leave from the company and got paid 6 extra weeks baby bonding from the state. I was told I can't get 3 months off because I hadn't worked there up to a year. Later this month when I was discussing with a coworker was when she told me that she also got the job while heavily pregnant and she told me I am not even obligated to tell them I am pregnant when I got the job. Some Nigerian employers are just so mean and it makes me mad. How are the women supposed to contribute to the home of you won't give them jobs because they are married or have kids? And if we refuse to marry or after marriage decide not to have kids, they call is hoes. They just won't allow someone to be great. Awon were. Jazzyjazz, don't worry. This too shall pass In Sha Allah |

jazzyjazz: I'm currently battling with the same thing
Sometimes I feel like including "married" in my cv is what is not giving me a job. But then again, it's always best they know these things first hand before they say you lied
I know we will both get a job. Make we continue to look on God while we send in applications Do your best have to put marital status on your resume? Please remove it sis, since it's doing more harm that good |

MizKay1: Good Morning,
So I got my B1/B2 visa. Never lied at the interview. I was just asked if i was going on holiday and about my work. I said yes.
Travelling to have my baby was never even on the plan until a few weeks ago due to need for better medical attention and I was not satisfied with the hospital i was using even though i had changed hospitals twice. and asides that my MIL who would ordinarily help out has been in the US for a while now and asked that i come rather than be here without help as she wont be able to make it down to Nigeria before my EDD due to the fact that she is undergoing treatment.
I was searching for something else and i stumbled on this platform. So after reading extensively, i called the embassy and asked if i could have my baby in the US tho i didnt state earlier, they asked for my passport details to verify. The lady who answered me said she could not give information as regards that but referred me to the CBP website to read up on the risks. Do you think i have complicated the situation by calling the embassy? Kindly advise. I have all my funds and have booked a Dr's appointment.
Thank you. Really? I honestly do not believe this. If you didn't have the visa, would your MIL still have told you to come to the US so she can help take care of the baby? I am saying all of this because if I had a US visa and I know I can birth an American citizen using that visa....Heck yeah!! I am gonna do that. Were you pregnant before the interview? |

bolabae: Good morning everyone, I am a new member of this forum and I would like to ask few questions as I am 8 months gone. I am currently in Europe with a valid temporary resident permit and I just started considering giving birth in the state. 1. What are my chances of getting a visa as I am 8 months gone. 2. Should I tell the VO I am going for child birth or just family visit because I have an invitation from my sis in law. 3. Like how many weeks do i need in total (booking an interview appointment, getting the visa and leaving for the state). Less I forget, I am a new mum and a first time mum. Your advice and contributions will be highly appreciated. Hope to read from you all soonest. Thank you. You're already 8months gone. Even if you got the visa today and bought the ticket today (which is impossible) I doubt any airline will be willing to fly you. Looking at a realistic timeline, it takes at least 1-3 weeks to secure a visa interview at a US Consulate/Embassy, 2-3 working days for the visa to be ready. You're near your due date already. |

At the interview for visa we mentioned vacation at Washington and we plan to stay for just 2weeks. Now I'm planning to change and come to either California or even Texas. My thought is won't they query why not Washington? I would appreciate any advice to him. Thanks. Is your BIL pregnant? Lol. Is his wife pregnant? Did they disclose that at their visa interview? But if his wife is not pregnant or planning to come to the US to birth a child, then I don't think they should have a problem changing destinations. If at all they are asked, in as much as they have a plausible explanation, they should be fine. |

Onegai: In the spirit of being kind (no-one will answer me if I ask but no p)
Qatar is having a diplomatic row with all the countries surrounding it and they have shut down their borders, ports and airspace. Those countries are also ejecting Qatari citizens from their country. The Qatari govt is scrambling to make sure Turkey doesn't also ban them from their airspace as Saudi Arabia has (I believe a portion of your US trip flies over SA airspace, you could ask some pilots or check online) so they are not completely isolated. Everyone in Qatar is rushing to the supermarkets to stock up on groceries (kinda like what you would expect if a country is in some crisis). The US is the one pushing for Qatar to be isolated and has also approved social media searches for visa applicants. Anyone planning on using Qatar Airlines should probably have a rethink for at least a week. At least till the situation on ground is clear.
Cc mamaOO Thanks a lot. The booking is on hold for now. Pending how things play out. Appreciate it!! |

jaysmama: Mama about this rota virus vaccine your points are very valid. In fact it's not compulsory to vaccinate kids some parents in the USA don't believe in it at all. If you talk about naija government and their policies the vaccine is expensive is why it's not being given at local health centers . The government is not ready to subsidize payment for it. Vaccines are also not 100 % foolproof. My first took measles vaccine but eventually had measles but it wasn't as bad as it could have been if he had not been vaccinated. It is well may God protect our kids from sickness vaccinated or not. Ma, please I just want to correct the notion that it is not compulsory to vaccinate in the US. It is compulsory to vaccinate kids in the US. If you don't, they cannot go to elementary school, either private or public because before you can enroll your kid in school, you need his immunization card/record. Those anti-Vaxx mommies are basing their non-vaccination of kids on aa discredited and retracted medical paper that linked vaccines to Autism. The person who wrote the paper even lost his medical license. And now because of the anti-Vaxx mommies, measles is now back in the US after it was eradicated. |

sugah: Discussion Monday!!! Topic: Effective family planning options.
So I had to take out my IUCD for the second time cos my body kept expelling it into my cervix. My doc now recommends the arm implant which I'm against cos I heard it causes weight gain. Condom? Bleh!!! Mentioned ocp to my doc and he said it'll fail and I'd get pregnant. Now I'm seriously considering Billings method
Any success stories on billings method? I am using a method that is or might be similar to the billings method and its working great for me. When I am ovulating, I abstain permanently. Its around 5 days anyways. When I am not, we use condoms + withdrawal method. My doctor gave me a prescription for mini-pills but I am too scared of weight-gain to use it. Same with the shots and also the IUD. I am just too scared to put anything hormonal or non-hormonal into my body. What I did (I have actually been doing it before I got pregnant and continued doing it after) was to download an app called Kindara. It's on the Apple Appstore and I figure it's gonna be on the Google Playstore too. Kindara has a feature that allow you record your BBT (Basal Body Temperature) every morning. Once you enter your BBT in the morning, it plot it into a graph for you. Let me explain BBT. Basal body temperature (BBT) is the lowest body temperature attained during rest (usually during sleep). It is usually estimated by a temperature measurement immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken. Women who have natural menstrual cycles have a bi-phasic BBT pattern. Bi = two , phasic = phase, so that means your temperatures have two phases. The first phase of your cycle has low temperatures, while the second phase of your cycle has higher temperatures. The first phase is called the follicular phase. This phase starts on the first day of your period, each cycle, and ends at ovulation. Your BBT will show a set of low temperatures during this time, usually ranging from 97.0 to 97.6. After ovulation is the luteal phase. Progesterone, produced by the corpus luteum during your luteal phase raises your core body temperature. During your luteal phase your BBT will rise to higher temperatures, usually ranging from 97.7 to 98.3. The range of temperatures can vary from woman to woman, as everyone is unique. But the important thing to remember is that if you are cycling naturally, (not on hormonal contraceptives) your temperature chart will show this bi-phasic pattern. I lifted most of the BBT explanation from the Kindara website sha. Lol. I got a BBT thermometer from Target and just take my temperature every morning when my alarm wakes me up, I take my temperature first before getting out of bed. It takes seconds. Once I see my temperature shift, I know I am ovulating and know to be careful. Sometimes I use ovulation strips to test for ovulation. Let me attach some of my charts so you have an idea of what I am talking about The dates the chart lines went up dramatically was when I started ovulating and if you look at the Nov- Dec cycle, my temperature never dropped below the coverline or 98degrees again. That was the cycle I got pregnant.

J0hnTrevolt: some one should epp me please To be on the safe side, see a doctor to make sure everything is fine. By most likely it's beacauss of his bath water pooling in his ear when you give him a bath. My son had it, in one hair. I showed his doctor and she told me it was because of the bath water entering his ear. She said to clean the ear more regularly and immediately after bath. Use a q-tip but not the regular one oo. The baby ones that doesn't enter the ears. Just clean the ear and the lobe. You can use olive oil to clean it. Should be gone in a week. Again, see your doctor first to rule out any ear infection |

Abi she included d one she will spend thereafter..;as she no go wan return to naija.
Dat money will be surely better to save someone sick and struggling to stay alive.... It's always good to educate yourself. A normal burial with no added frills costs (no food, asoebi or whatever) more or less that amount. Why do you think people open gofundme to bury their loved ones? Because it's expensive! You pay for the land, the casket, the city permits, the funeral home services and so on. It's very very very expensive. Google is your friend. |
