If the father of your unborn baby is an American citizen, then there’s no need to travel all the way to the US to deliver. The baby will be a US citizen regardless of where the baby is born. Your pending I-130 might make it hard to get a non-immigrant visa cos they might think y’all just want to go wait out your pending I-130 in the US. All the best.

My husband and I applied for visa on virgin passports and went for interview yesterday.

We were denied because we didn't prove to have ties to Nigeria which was child.

Now, my husband wishes to reapply, leaving me behind. Of course, to join him after some months hopefully. He is a web developer and has foreign clients. One of his top clients is a versed internet marketer in the US and is ready to provide everything he needs for him to come down to the US and work. Even to the extent of helping him with a work permit when he gets there.

We have sent him an invitation sample and he is working on it. To be honest, hubby wishes to work in the US and his employer is ready to do that for him. Going in with a B1/B2 visa (not work) and begin work permit process immediately.......Do you think he stands chances of approval? He will be applying in a month time.

How does he hope to get a work permit legally on a B1 visa? I think you need to ask the “top client” a lot of questions before you spend all your savings on a wild goose adventure.

It’s actually kind of true. I live in the US, and I’ve lived here for a while. Lived in s couple of states and travelled widely among the 50 states. I’ve only encountered 2 Hausa person, whereas I’ve met tons of Yoruba, Igbo, Edo, Urhobo, Benue and a while lots of tribes. Rarely Hausas. Rarely. Even the one I met was born here. His parents and siblings are back home. Ive met a couple of Hausa speaking people tho, but most were Benue, Plateau and Yoruba people who grew up in the north.

Not a problem ma’am. You can’t run away from buying more than one o. If you two or more cars, it is too much trouble moving the car seat back and forth in between cars. The installation Na wahala and they can be quite heavy.

I ended up getting three. I got the Clek Foonf for my car, the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio for my husband’s car and the Evenflo Tribute LX for my sister’s car because she sometimes helps me pick him up from preschool or babysit him.

The Clek and the Peg Perego are expensive tho, both ran me about $850 before taxes but I decided on them because of reviews and the fact that they have very high weight limits than their competitors and can be converted to a booster seat after a while. Both the Foonf and the Viaggio also looked so cool (I’m a sucker for pretty baby gear)

The Evenflo costed me about $65 I believe, cos it’s for my sister’s car. There’s also Britax Boulevard and Marathon, Chicco Nexfit and also Diono Radian. I decided against the Chicco and Britax cos everybody’s kids use them (too common) and the Diono was too tall (I felt it will block my rear view) and because it was ugly. Lol.

I went to two different ones around me looking for some items and a convertible car seat for my toddler and after using my price match app and checking around, Amazon was still better for me. They mark up the price before the sale and then they discount the price based off the markup to give people the illusion of a sale.

What you have said is very true. I know someone struggling under Canadian Experience route and it isn't easy at all. The area he lives is cheap but no credible jobs so he is planning to decamp to a bigger city so you are very right about Canada.

America pays once you are settled and have papers for sure, and going to study Biology can never pay. Many went and studied courses that aren't credible and french schools all over Nigeria are full of them.

The key thing is that God should just keep having mercy. It seems you and your husband are based abroad. I wish you all the best. Abeg continue to represent us well maybe they will give us more chances to enter.

Exactly. I spoke to a former classmate from Iberia who did his masters in Canada and in Geophysics . He’s struggling to find a job and coupled with the oil prices downturn, it’s not been easy at all.

There is nothing wrong with getting married IF it is someone you love. The problem I have heard is that the people you want to love will look at you with side eye.

They will assume that the green card you are looking for is what is supporting the love, and because you are on time limit you will not have enough time to prove yourself. These doubts are the key issue.

The reason US is casted is because instead of playing that game of OPT or H1B green card which is not sure (H1B relies on a lottery) with Canada once you finish, not need for lottery, no need for sharp love, you can get what you want.

This is why I say Canada is the way forward. H1B is not secure. I know someone personally who ended up joining army after 4 years in University and 1 year work permit under mavni program for people that can speak African language. His life is mortgaged for 6 good years just so he can stay there. It makes no sense, when for the same cost he could have gone to Canada.

Yes, I understand you. But you’re still not getting the full picture. Canada gives Avenue for permanent residency BUT they just don’t hand it to you. You still have to go through a nomination program, where your province nominated you or the Canadian experience route. Part of the requirements is that you must have worked in your field of specialization for a year. It’s possibe, but hard to get that experience. The jobs are not that plentiful unlike the US and even tougher as an international student.

Another reason people opt for the US is that a lot of graduate students get tuition waiver, in form of of a research, teaching or graduate assistantship. Canada gives that, but it’s very very very limited. Jobs are plentiful in the US than Canada, and that’s s fact. Lots of Canadians actually work in the US under the H1B program too, at least I know about three who work for my husband’s company.

Either route anybody chooses tho, my advise is, do not come to the US or Canada to study a non competitive course and expect to have it good after graduation. Jobsvare hard to find if you’re an immigrant and the only way to counter that is to be in a field where the natives haven’t already saturated.

I thought you were in the system, which is why I asked the question. You have just a slight idea of what you’re talking about but you’re missing a lot of critical aspects. The work permit (it’s called OPT btw) is for One year if they’re not in the STEM field, about three years if you’re in STEM. Gives plenty of time to get an H1B or EB green card. Yes a lot get married to stay legal but lots more get work visas and green cards as well. And what’s so bad about getting married anyways? So far it’s someone you love? Lots of people have also done this.

They do accept HND without the yeye PGD sef. Straight HND. Just do a credential evaluation, preferebly with WES and they will evaluate your HND to a four year US Bachelors degree. That’s all you need. It’s about $300.

The fear of identity fraud did not even allow me to request for a SSN. I ticked the box that said that I am not requesting one at this time through the hospital from the state. My address stated in the US is trusted but these things can even get intercepted.

Funny enough, the tax returns they get from claiming people’s children is not been much. Max of $1K I think. I have only one child, but didn’t even get the full amount. And with Trump’s new tax rules, they have started scrutinizing peoples tax returns like mad.

I belong to a Mommy group on Facebook and I’ve heard some people said that IRS have contacted them to submit evidence that the children they’re claiming on their tax returns are their biological children or direct dependents. They have to submit birth certificates, doctors letters and papers to the IRS to allow the IRS verify them. Imagine, having to prove that your kids are yours! All because of greedy people who claim their cousins, nephew, nieces or even their neighbors kids during tax time for a bigger refund that’s not even worth it.

It’s illegal and a crime to claim that a child lives in your house and that they’re your dependents on your tax forms, when indeed they’re not.
