If you know Opobo very well, or you don't ask people you are with, they will tell you the most public place is the waterfront, followed by the king Jajas palace play ground.
Ask around people close to you will tell you same
.

Not sure if you suffer from dyslexia or something, but I categorically stated in my earlier post that this is my first time here and my friends are not natives of this place either. What time can we meet up at the King Jajas play ground tomorrow? I'm coming with my camera to take pictures and start interviews as well, thank God I'm finally meeting someone from Nairaland who is man enough to at least show up.

Why is it difficult to state your location in Opobo.
I have told you where I am already.
Since you are a stranger here I will come meet you.
Bro for security reasons I won't be that stupid to disclose my location... Like common, choose a neutral public spot where I can be sure a lot people will be (like a local bar, resteurant, market etc) and I'll meet you there, and may God punish me and my generation if I fail to show up at the rendezvous

As an Imo state boy I'm proud to see Anambra setting the pace in Alaigbo as usual, not the biggest fan of Willie Obiano but he has done some commendable things in Anambra... I trust Soludo to step in, build on the foundation set by Obiano and take Anambra to the next level.

A win in Anambra is a win for Igboland.

BKayy:

It was more than that if you include reinforcements. They continue to narrow it down so they settled for this number.

But anyhow they put it, if you look at the number you will notice that Aro took out more than half of the soldiers.
So they understood that they were dealing with civilised people unlike in Bini where they marched unchallenged, massacred and burnt down houses only to turn around and glorify them in bid to downplay those that stood up to them so that there won't be any repetition.

Imagine if Ndigbo grew up learning these histories, knowing how courageous their ancestors were, do you think that we will tolerate nonsense from anybody?
This is why Britain glorified those that made it easy for them, people like Bini and The Caliphate.

You won't see Britain glorify Igbo

Are you aware Aro warriors and powerful traditional medicine-men also helped our Western Igbo brothers during their Ekumeku resistance against the British? a friend and historian from Ibusa actually told me this...the Aro influence across Igboland was MASSIVE.

There were about 2000 plus British soldiers who took part in the expedition. The resistance put up by The Aros was a fierce one.

Early Igbo Sojourners in Eastern Yorubaland.

The attached pictures depict people at a masquerade dance. The masquerade is the famous Mgbedike masquerade, popular in the Nri-Ọka area. In Picture 1, a man can be seen wearing a hat, with ichi marks on his face.

But these pictures were not taken in Igboland. They were taken in the village of Okitipupa, in the Ondo area of eastern Yorubaland in the 1940s by British colonial officer Edward Harland Duckworth. Who were these people and what was Mgbedike doing in Yorubaland in the '40s?

Ọka tradition relates that their itinerant blacksmiths had penetrated into Yorubaland at some undetermined time in the past. Professor O. N. Njoku says this happened sometime between the 1890s and 1904. But it was in the Colonial Period, from the 1930s, that they began to appear there in significant numbers for Yoruba tradition to take notice of their presence.

It was their skill in gun-smithing that enabled the Ọka to penetrate Yorubaland. While Yoruba gunsmiths used nails and riveted their gun parts, Ọka smiths used screws. Ọka guns could thus be taken apart, cleaned, and re-assembled.

The best-known of the Ọka smiths in Yorubaland in the 1930s was one Godwin Okafọ who settled in Igede Ekiti. Ekiti people didn't even know his name and simply called him Ọka. He brought innovations and enriched the smithing tradition of Igede, just as his fellow Ọka crafts workers were changing the face of the profession in other towns in Ekiti.

This is what an elder from Igede, Chief Akande, had to say about Godwin and his 'brothers':

"These Isobos [a name originally referring to Urhobos, but extended to anyone from the Eastern Region] came and began to make heavy-duty guns that could kill 2 or 3 animals at once. They were the first to seriously start producing knives, cutlasses hoes, and others in large quantities for sale. Look at Awka [i.e., Godwin Okafọ], he is small in stature but stronger than many around us. He was the person who first started producing short, rather than the usual long, guns here. Not only that, these Awka people performed their smithing activity by producing, for the first time, double-barrel guns that could kill a whole district if there is war..."

Politics / Re: No More Igbo Language In Opobo Again by mancoconut: 10:12pm On Dec 03, 2021
Lol I just got off a whatsapp call with one of my friends from Opobo, and didn't even care until now (thanks to Nairaland awareness) about the debate of what primary language they spoke and the ethnicity they belonged to... so out of curiosity I randomly asked him if he could speak Igbo? my guy didn't even waste time before he gave me the "before nko?" reply of consternation, as if I just asked him the dumbest question ever... Long story short, we switched to Igbo and I swear on everything I hold sacred this guy was rapping in beautiful Igbo laced with what sounded like some central Owerri or Amaigbo dialect... me sef shock cause my Igbo isn't so good, that alone confirmed everything I needed to know.

Ijaws have lost this battle, we don't even need to do anything at this point... I'll be attending the Nwaotam festival to witness the beauty of Igbo culture in display. I'll also do interviews with the natives with my friends in purely Igbo, the time to reawaken our people is NOW.

They know. Which is why most of them are anti BIAFRA.

The surprising thing to me is IPOB including them in Biafra and calling them "brothers" ,and then insulting any Igbo who try to correct them on that an "afonja" or "sabo".
I was labelled sabo and afonja on this forum by my IPOB brothers for being against Multiethnic BIAFRA especially with Ijaws included. cry

I've always maintained that in the larger scheme of things, IPOB have been a stumbling block and cog in the wheel of Igbo nationalism. The amount of time these directionless Ipob sycophants spent trying to force their preposterous and toxic idea of some multiethnic Biafra down our throat would have been better used using their strong platform and numbers to unite, re-orientate, and reach out more to the various Igbo subgroups that are cocooned in the bubble of identity crisis.

But I thank God for outstanding scholars and researchers like Maazi Ogbonnaya that is going out of the way to reach out to these beleaguered and forgotten Igbo communities outside the South East... his expose on the Igbos in Kogi state was brilliant and very enlightening.

This Ijaw minority clowns are too funny walahi grin, you simply CAN'T erode the Igbo language, it's too diluted and superior to be superimposed with some garbage inferior Ijaw or ibani nonsense grin, but you're welcome to try!

There's a reason why Igbos didn't have an empire or conquer her smaller neighbors through war (except the Aros) yet more than half of the Southern tribes along the Niger Delta and even as far as the more coastal areas far-flung from the Igbo hinterlands all speak and understand Igbo.. the Igbo DNA is too superior.

[s]This is the work of Igbos.. they petitioned UK govt. in their numbers to arrest and convict Adeyinka grandson for airing his views on their bad lifestyle.

The same set of people saw nothing wrong with Kanu's hate utterances on radio biafra.. they kept hailing him till the lunatic got nabbed like a rat in Kenya and brought back to DSS dungeon in Nigeria. The same people led by a fo0lish 94yrs old man went to demand for his unconditional release from Buhari so he can continue with his madness. Unconditional kee you people. nincompoops[/s]!

E pain this one grin, rants of a frustrated lunatic... this is just the beginning, by the time Igbos are done dealing with your treacherous madness... your conquest in Ilorin will be child's play compared to what will be unleashed on your fetish subhumans.

As for Adeyinka, he's lucky he wasn't nabbed in the US, Igbo boys here would have lynched the bastard and sent this accursed remains back to Ogbomoso or wherever the f**k he comes from... he's lucky he was hiding out in one of his dirty one room apartments in the slums of South London.
