PoliticsWhy Do Most People Post This - Is This Assertion Correct? by mandy4s(op): 3:46pm On Aug 06, 2014
This was a post on facebook by my friend
WHERE DID WE GO WRONG? WAKE UP NIGERIAN YOUTHS - Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36) Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) led the struggle for independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.In 1966, the first coup was led by: Kaduna Nzeogwu (29) and countered by MurtalaMohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (25), Nanven Garba (23), SaniAbacha (23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24).Most of the military administrators who governed the states under the successive military regimes, most of whom are governors now, were under 30 years. The brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also sawthe House of Representatives in particular populated by majority of members under 30 years as well as some senators. Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbuwho became foreign affairs minister at 23 and Pat Utomi who became a presidentialadviser at 27 and so on and so forth.NOW:Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seater chairs in their parents’homes? Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents? Why is it that this age bracket is today still writing JAMB?Why is it that this age bracket is today still sagging their trousers? Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs, not yet married? Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leaders of youthwings of political parties? Why is it that this age bracket is today so docile? Why is it that this age bracket is today still incapable of feeding itself? Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices? Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking questions?GOD BLESS NIGERIA!": (c) 2014Prof Wole[/b]
And this was my reply:
If I may attempt to address your question:
1. virtually all the names you mentioned above have fiercely refused to step aside for the "age-generation" you are referring to to function. lets see from Obasanjo to Babangida to Buhari. If not that death has taken away most of the lot, we would still see a struggle to remain relevant by them.
2. The times during which these people were prompted into the political struggle and subsequent limelight were a direct factor responsible for their emergence. Lets look at it chronologically; Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36) Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) Zik was (42) all fighting for independence from colonialism - an era during which the happenings were detrimental to the people and which needed urgent and strong reactions.
Now let’s look at the more recent crop of people you cited too; Kaduna Nzeogwu (29) Murtala Mohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (25), Nanven Garba (23), SaniAbacha (23), Shehu Musa Yar’adua (23), Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24) once again all emerged during the topsy-turvy, turbulent military era. we can all agree that the every country goes through this period of "feet-finding" immediately after she gains independence (even with south sudan as a very recent example in this modern period of strong democratic presence all over the world).
Now with the similarities between the colonial and military eras, compare the present democratic dispensation? Do you not see here that there is no right climate for aggressive, vibrant and erratic young people to emerge? Democracy is a self-sustaining system that takes care of those age bracket related loop holes. Look at it, only the experienced or self-declared experienced ones take the helm of affairs in a democratic setup and keep staying there for as long as they are deemed fit because basically that is what democracy does.
For me the question you should ask is; why are the present Leaders creating such dysfunctional environment through their inept styles of policies and governance that disable our youth?

RomanceRe: Your Breakup Experiences With Someone You Really Loved?? by mandy4s: 1:46am On Sep 20, 2013
ogugua88: The only time I had such an experience was when my first ex broke up with me. I was young and "head over heels" if you will. He broke up with me simply because he could, leaving me distraught. It felt like my world ended... literally. I was in my room for days, thinking the worst of myself. Actually telling myself, "you're this"... "you're that". Sometimes I'd be driving to work or school and I'd start crying right there in the car. Or I'd be in my room doing homework or listening to music and I'd be stricken with sorrow, and tears would flow again.
It was a very painful experience but I'm more than grateful for it now. During my grief, I did some analysis. I reflected back on the relationship and realized that the crying I was crying after the relationship was no different than the tears I shed during the relationship. He was a shitty boyfriend and I was hardly ever happy with him, so why on earth was I crying over him releasing me? Once I came to that realization, I healed very quickly. The whole process didn't take up to two weeks.

The only thing I regret is not having someone to confide in about it. I dealt with it alone as I didn't want anyone pitying me or getting angry at him. Not even my sister knew. I wish I had someone who would've heard me out and told me what I later realized. It would have saved me a lot of time and tears.
ooohhhh what a touching story*sobbing* [nollywood lines] cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin

xynerise: This thread is mainly for those(everybody) who lied (and still lie) to their parents just to create a space to visit their boyfriends/girlfriends and also crazy things we did just to prove we love him/her grin

Teenage experience I will say to some peeps like me grin while some are still doing it till today. grin

Make I no lie, I lie well well grin

I remember my first love at Orile Iganmu, a pretty muslim girl. At 15, I used to steal Nasco biscuits from my mum's shop and I would lie to her that I want to go home and fetch water grin. I would quickly divert to the next street and rush to my babe's house. I do this every weekends and never got a kiss in return till we broke up grin.

Share you experience grin
cheii nna u never got a kiss? u must have been a learner with nasco biscuits while ur mates wwere doing gala and meatpie then.

Please attend to this humble request, as I dont make too much demands.
