A man, Musa Abdulkareem, on Thursday begged an Area Court not to grant his wife, Asia’s divorce petition, saying that he still loves her and cannot let her go.

My Lord, I am not ready for any divorce because I still love my wife. Help me beg her and settle the matter,” he said.

Asia, mother of two children, had approached the court to dissolve the marriage over Abdulkareem’s inability to care for the family.

She told the court that they had two children outside wedlock, adding that when the marriage was formalised eight months ago she had been the one providing for the family.

The man I call husband cannot pay his children school fees; provide food for the family, not to talk of paying house rent.

What is his usefulness if he cannot cater for his family? I have been the one struggling to meet the demands of my children Amudalat 6 and Aminat 2.

My Lord, I urgently want an end to this marriage because I cannot endure this hardship anymore. Dissolve this marriage for my children sake,” she said.

She also urged the court to grant her custody of their two children and an order of court compelling Abdulkareem to pay N10,000 monthly as feeding allowances for the children.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Abdulhameed Aliyu, however, adjourned the case until April 8 for continuation or settlement of the matter.

Ibrahim Ibrahim, an indigene of Zamfara State who was locked up in Saudi Arabia has been released.

He was locked up for three years on charges of entering Saudi Arabia with hard drugs punishable by death under the laws of that country.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission revealed this via her verified twitter handle on Tuesday.

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State had earlier dispatched a delegation to Saudi Arabia comprising of government delegation and a team of lawyers.

The evidence presented at two lower courts freed Ibrahim of the allegation, proving that Ibrahim was wrongly accused.

Amongst the documents was a statement from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, stating that they have arrested and charged three persons who planted the drugs on Ibrahim.
A certified copy of the two count charge sheet from the Federal High Court Kano was also presented to the Saudi Arabia court which ruled in favour of Ibrahim and discharged him.

An Indian hemp farm concealed in a vegetable farm located inside a school compound in #AnambraState, has been uncovered by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

A 45-year-old man, Amobi Okafor, said to be the owner of the farm inside Lake City Secondary School in Nri community, was initially arrested for allegedly macheting a security guard in the school during an altercation before the discovery was made.

Commandant of the NSCDC in Anambra, Mr David Bille said: “The suspect confessed to the crime and took the NSCDC operatives to the location, behind Lake City Secondary School, where he grows cannabis on a yearly basis.

Exhibits recovered from him include machet, fresh leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa(indian hemp) and other incriminating items.

Billie further disclosed that Amobi will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (#NDLEA).

Porto striker Moussa Marega walked off the pitch during a match against Vitoria de Guimaraes Sunday after he was subjected to racist abuse from opposition fans.

The 28-year-old pushed away teammates, who were trying to calm Marega down, as he tried to leave the game in Portugal's top-flight, just nine minutes after he scored what turned out to be the match-winning goal.

The forward, who played on loan for Vitoria for the 2016-2017 season, scored in the 60th minute and celebrated by pointing toward his skin in front of a section of the stadium as home supporters threw objects from the stands.

In the 69th minute a visibly distressed Marega was substituted after play had been stopped as he tried to walk off the field.

As he left the pitch the striker put his middle fingers up at the crowd and gestured with his thumbs down amid a chorus of jeers in the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques.

Kick It Out, a leading UK organization that works to tackle discrimination in professional and grassroots football, questioned why the game's match officials had not done more to support Marega.

This is really tough to watch," said a Kick It Out tweet, responding to video footage of the incident.

The blatant disregard for protocol is unacceptable, and players should be united and walk off together in their condemnation of racism, instead of this."

After the match, Marega posted an Instagram message. "I would just like to say to these idiots who come to the stadium to make racist chants to go f**k themselves," he wrote.

And I would also like to thank the referees for not defending me and for giving me a yellow card for defending the colour of my skin."

Porto manager Sérgio Conceição refused to talk about his team's 2-1 win in his post-match media conference but instead addressed the racism directed toward his player -- which he said had started during the warm-up.

We are enraged by what happened. I know the passion there is for Vitoria, but I'm sure most fans don't identify with the attitude of some people who sat on the stands tonight," he said.

We are a family, regardless of nationality, regardless of skin color, height, hair color. We are a family, we are human and we deserve respect. For me, what happened here is shameful. Just shameful.

Porto released a statement supporting Marega and called the incident "one of the low moments in the recent history of Portuguese football."

Porto also called for those involved to be "properly penalized" and said the team would continue fighting all forms of hate crime.

Vitoria de Guimaraes said the club opposed all forms of racism and promised to work with the judicial bodies to act "firmly and consequently.

The history, the present and the symbols of the club are tributaries of an inclusive, integrating identity and based on values of equality and universality," a club statement read.

Portugal's top-flight league also promised to "do everything" to ensure such an episode does not go unpunished.

Liga Portugal does not agree, nor it never will, with acts of racism, xenophobia, intolerance and any other that jeopardize the dignity of footballers, agents or, just, any human being," a league statement read.

The values of football are not compatible with what happened tonight at the Vitória Sport Clube's stadium, in which an athlete no longer endured the insults he was being targeted and chose to abandon the game.

European football's governing body UEFA has a three-step procedure that should be followed in the event of racist chants.

The first step of that procedure is to bring the match to a halt and instruct the stadium authorities to call on spectators to stop the discriminatory behavior.

If that goes unheeded, another announcement is made and the match is suspended with players sent to their dressing rooms for a "specific period." Lastly, following consultation, the match will be abandoned "if the discriminatory behavior still does not cease or breaks out again.

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dangled the carrot of a permanent move to Odion Ighalo to join his boyhood club should he impress between now and the end of the season.

This is coming few hours to of a Premier League blockbuster match between the Blues and Reds, with Chelsea hosting United on Monday night.

Solskjaer’s men are languishing in ninth, but can move to within two points of fifth with a third victory over Chelsea this season.

United have been offered a lifeline in their quest to return to the Champions League next season with Manchester City’s potential two-season ban from European competition meaning fifth in the Premier League could be enough to qualify.

Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford will be absent for another few weeks, placing a heavy burden on deadline-day loan signing Ighalo to score the goals that can haul United up the table.

Ighalo has had a far from ideal start to his United career, Skysports reports.

The Nigerian joined up with the United squad for the first time on Sunday after a two-week precautionary quarantine following his arrival from Shanghai Shenua.

It’s a loan but when you are in the door here and if you impress it gives you a chance,” said Solskjaer. “That is exactly the same for anyone who signs, if it is permanent or a loan.

The First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, and her predecessor, Mrs Patience Jonathan, met at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.

Mrs Jonathan visited the President’s wife, according to twitter post by Aisha this morning.

She said their discussions centred on women participation in politics, girl-child education and Mrs Jonathan’s pet project, ‘Women for Change.

I got to hear about her experience during her tenure and listened to her perspectives on the issues affecting women and children in the society.

It was really nice having her around and I look forward to having more of such moments”, the President’s wife wrote on her wall.

Mrs Jonathan left Aso Rock in 2015 when her husband lost the 2015 presidential poll and handed over power to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) on May 29.

Aisha has lately been hosting former first ladies. A few days ago, she also hosted Mrs Turai Yar’Adua.

ABUJA—THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said a total of 1,434,632 candidates have so far registered for its ongoing 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME and Direct Entry.

The board also said the closing date for the registration remained February 17 and charged prospective candidates not yet registered to take advantage of the remaining days to do so.

JAMB, which disclosed this in its weekly bulletin released to the media by its Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin yesterday, equally warned its licensed Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres against turning away candidates who obtained ePINS elsewhere.

It stated: “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has sounded a note of warning to its licensed CBT centres which are acting contrary to the terms of their agreement by turning away candidates who had obtained their ePins elsewhere.

This warning became necessary following a series of complaints received by the board that some centres are turning away candidates simply because they did not obtain their ePins from such centres.

The board is also in possession of credible reports regarding the activities of some of the centres vending ePINS and collecting the fee of the PINS along with the service charge for the registration (N4,700) thereby depriving the candidates the right to choose where to go for registration. Such candidates are, therefore, forced to register with such centres irrespective of their convenience. Such candidates are then tied down unnecessarily to the centres.

The most ignoble of the fraudulent practice occurs when some centres dictate what a candidate should use as a password they keep to gain access to candidate’s data in order to perpetrate unwholesome acts.

Some centres have even constituted themselves into a cartel collecting commission from other centres and some vending agents as protection money.

Such a scenario was enacted in Kwara State, where an innocent agent of a sales outlet was falsely accused of selling ePINS above the stipulated price and was arrested by security agents who had to release him when investigation proved the contrary.

The board is, therefore, concerned about these ignoble acts which are contrary to the terms of operations.

All centres are hereby reminded of the nature of their assignment which goes beyond mere profit. The board is,by this publication, requesting all centres to comply with the rules of engagement in order not to attract any sanction.

Meanwhile, JAMB has raised an alarm that some candidates were being offered fake admissions through some institutions’ portal with the approved Central Admissions Processing System,CAPS, warning institutions engaging in the act to desist.

According to JAMB, such admissions are null and void.

The attention of the board has been drawn to the purported offer of admissions to candidates through some institutions’ portals. The board wishes to dissociate itself from such as it is a flagrant abuse of the automated Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, which is the only credible avenue for admission into undergraduate programmes of all tertiary institutions in the country.

Institutions which offer admission outside CAPS do so to avoid equitable and just process which CAPS enforces. it stated.

JAMB recalled it had announced it would stop the condoning of illegitimate admissions from 2017 admission exercise.

After the video for his new single “Intentions” which dropped early Friday found Biebs busting some philanthropic moves, the 25-year-old pop star stopped by MTV’s Times Square studios to donate $100,000 to a young local fan who is raising mental-health awareness.

The lucky recipient is Julie Coker of Monmouth County, New Jersey, who received the big check from the “Yummy” crooner during a taping of MTV’s “Fresh Out Live,” which aired Friday. Bieber, it so happens, was the first music artist she saw in concert, at the age of 13.

I work for mental health now because of my own mental-health struggles in the past,” Coker, 22, tells The Post. “And it’s important for us to talk about mental health because more than 50% of us will have a mental-health challenge in our lifetime.

After being diagnosed with depression, Coker has become an advocate for the illness with the Active Minds chapter on her college campus at Stockton University in Galloway Township, New Jersey. She has helped screen about 5,000 students for depression, suicide risk and eating disorders. In addition, she has participated in the #HugMore campaign, which Bieber has also embraced, so to speak.

Coker says that it is important for an artist such as Bieber who has dealt with his own mental-health issues, canceling the remainder of his “Purpose” world tour in July 2017 due to depression and exhaustion to spread awareness.

Bieber has a big following, so if he has a good message about mental health, hopefully everybody else will want to start thinking about mental health in a different way,” says Coker, who plans to go to grad school for clinical social work.

In the “Intentions” video, Bieber and Migos’ Quavo who is featured on the empowering track from “Changes,” JB’s album due Feb. 14 salute and support three women who have overcome struggles with the help of Alexandria House’s transitional housing program.

Bieber has partnered with the Los Angeles-based Alexandria House, which provides shelter and support for women and children in emergency situations. The singer has set up an Intentions fund of $200,000 to benefit Alexandria House. Now that’s putting your money where your message is.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is in talks to sign a blockbuster multi-million pound deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports management company, joining an esteemed list of celebrity clients.

The England striker is currently represented by his brothers Dane Rashford and Dwaine Maynard, but could be ready to sign a high-profile and lucrative deal with Roc Nation Sports.

Rashford met Jay-Z after travelling to the United States for Superbowl LIV, and he and his guests were treated like VIPs and courted by the agency – which represents artists such as Shakira, Rihanna and Calvin Harris.

According to ​The Mirror, Roc Nation Sports see Rashford as a prefect client, and already have deals in place with top footballers such as Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

While meeting Jay-Z and a number of other A-list celebs across the pond, ​Rashford also spoke to Juan Perez – the president of Roc Sport – and talks between the two parties are continuing despite the striker returning to England to continue his injury rehabilitation.

Rashford is currently nursing a stress fracture in his back and is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future, with his place at Euro 2020 even in doubt.

The 22-year-old has scored 19 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions this season and is seemingly ready to cash in on his Old Trafford success by signing a very profitable deal with Roc Sport.

Teammates ​Paul Pogba and ​Jesse Lingard have recently been criticised for their antics off the field, with both players coming under severe fire for their behaviour – particularly the former, who has barely featured for United due to injury this term.
