Realise N45, 000 Monthly, Says Local Nail

A 19-year-old man, Mr Ibrahim Kabiru, says he realises an average of N1, 500 daily, amounting to N45,000 monthly, from cutting and cleaning nails. Kabiru, who operates in Benin, yesterday said that the job was helping him to meet his needs.

The nail cutter said that he relocated from Sokoto State to Benin to start the job. He said that though it was not easy for him to move around the city looking for customers, he was satisfied that he was not idle. Kabiru said he was into maize farming but had no money to invest in it. He said that he charged N100 for both pedicure and manicure and N50 for either of them.

According to him, starting nail cutting requires only about N1, 000 to buy a pair of small scissors, nail cutter, foam, water and detergent. When asked if he would love to go back to farming if supported, Kabiru said he would. He said that one would need money to succeed in farming. He said he was not educated and could only farm apart from nail cutting.

PoliticsWhy We Won't Sign Economic Partnership Agreement - Buhari by ManirBK(op): 7:27pm On Apr 05, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria has been reluctant to sign the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) among ECOWAS countries because of the need to protect her economy, especially the industries and small businesses currently providing jobs for majority Nigerians.
He said the s igning of the agreement would expose the industries and small businesses to external pressures and competitions which could lead to closures and job losses.
The president said this at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja Thursday while receiving a letter of credence from the head of delegation of the European Union to Nigeria, Ketil Iversen Karlsen.
He explained: “We are not enthusiastic about signing the EPA because of our largely youthful population. We are still struggling to provide jobs for them, and we want our youths to be kept busy.
“Presently, our industries cannot compete with the more efficient and highly technologically driven industries in Europe. We have to protect our industries and our youths."

A former Arsenal star, Kanu Nwankwo is stunned at how the Nigerian media reacted to a hoax that claimed he was planning on running for Nigeria's presidency in 2019.
Goal wrote an April Fools’ article revealing that the former Super Eagle was inspired to follow in George Weah’s footsteps to help provide a better life for his fellow countrymen.
But despite the article stating it was an April Fools joke, and it being written by "Loof Lirpa", it was taken seriously by multiple media outlets who then reported on it as fact.
In a chat with Goal, Kanu is shocked at the way the April Fools quickly went from hoax to fact.
“This is meant to be a joke but people haven’t seen it that way,”he told Goal.
“I think there is a need to inform them that it is just April Fool.
“My immediate concern is using my vast contacts and experience to develop the Nigerian youth through sports.

The govt of Yaradua/GEJ budgeted N63billion to construct Abuja Airport runaway. But the mind-boggling price was discarded by Buhari. He eventually spent N5.8billion to do it.
* Before Buhari JAMB remitted N50 million into government's coffer since its inception but Buhari made a whopping N7. 8 billion in a year. (check Vanguard Newspaper 12th Dec 2017)
*Customs generate N1 trillion in 2017... First ever in the history of Nigeria. ( Read Premium Times, 21st Dec 2017)
*The external foreign reserves moves to $40.1 billion despite the poor sales of crude oil. He met $29.6 billion despite the $120 sales of crude oil, the highest ever.
*FIRS generated N2.11 trillion in 6 months. This is first in the history of Nigeria. (Read Leadership newspaper 28th April 2017)
*Buhari requested for $1 billion to fight Boko Haram while his predecessor's spent N4. 1trillion ($30 billion)
*Nigeria's image international was lurid but it's relatively better now. Harassment at the foreign airports has indeed reduced drastically.
*Our soldiers were a mockery as some ran to Cameroon barefooted to evade Boko Haram's terror. Today our soldiers are chasing the terrorists into hideouts instead.
*How about Nigeria producing 80% of rice here in Nigeria as against 90% imported rice previously.
.... All these at $45 per barrel(thank God it's a bit better now)
Etc etc...

PoliticsPresidency To Nigerians: Count Your Blessings Under Buhari by ManirBK(op): 9:19pm On Apr 04, 2018
The Presidency on Wednesday asked Nigerians to count the blessings brought to the economy by President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said in a statement that this was "irrespective of the other areas where the government is still working hard to ensure that every citizen can feel the change for which they massively voted in 2015."
Shehu stated: "We are only saying that we must learn to pause and count our blessings. The loud voices of critics with selfish ambitions and ulterior motives should not be a veil that keeps Nigerians blind to the many ways God has blessed us and improved our lot through the Buhari administration."
According to him, "Last year, the World Bank ranked Nigeria among the top 10 reforming economies in the world. This was clearly in recognition of the thorough and rigorous growth and development- oriented economic policies of the Buhari Administration.
"Today, investors and business men and women from around the world can arrive in Nigeria and get their visas right at the airport without any hassle. This is just one of the many reasons why Nigeria has advanced 24 steps in the global ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings of the World Bank."

The All Progressives Governors Forum say the tenure of the John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee of the party has ended.

The governors reached this compromise with President Muhammadu Buhari at a meeting today at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The governors, however, noted that Oyegun and his NWC could seek reelection at a convention if they so desired.

The chairman of the forum, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the meeting with the president.

"Let me correct one impression, the issue of congress and convention does not mean that the previous people who have served the party have done badly. And it does not mean that they cannot come back or that they cannot re-contest, that is not it.

"We are simply saying that their tenure has ended and those who wish to re-contest can re-contest and can be elected into our party structure. So, we are all one as family and we are set to go for 2019 elections in victory," Okorocha said.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday joined the All Progressives Congress family in congratulating a party stalwart and former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, on his 65th birthday.

Buhari, in a statement by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, affirmed that Nigeria had benefitted a lot from Oshiomhole’s robust and responsive leadership style.

The president expressed belief that as the former governor “grows older, his invaluable wisdom will be most useful for the growth of the nation.”

He felicitated with the foremost labour leader, his family, friends and colleagues “On the milestone, which has been lined with awards and recognitions for courageous and selfless service to humanity, the nation and his community as a former leader of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and a governor.”

President Buhari prayed that the almighty God grants Oshiomhole longer life and good health to keep serving the nation he loves so much.
