Wicked Wike with his Marvellous Magic ![]() |
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the recovery and eventual return of the seemingly lost asset to the state, Legacy 600 aircraft, was a reality, and not mere politics. Wike, who had embarked on a short trip to London last Friday, spoke after receiving the Legacy 600 aircraft that touched down at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday afternoon. At the brief reception that took place at the airport, there were some cultural displays staged by Rivers women and youths to celebrate the return of the state-owned aircraft secretly abandoned in Germany by the immediate past administration in the state. Wike explained that it took an intelligence report for his administration to discover such an asset, owned by the Rivers State government. Wike further said the immediate past administration flew the aircraft to far away Germany, without any record of it made available to his administration. He said, “To the glory of God, the plane is back and Rivers people can see. Nigerians can see. It is not that we are playing politics. “All we are saying is that we never knew. Nobody told us until we got intelligence that we have this asset somewhere.” He recalled that the Legacy 600 Aircraft was purchased by the Dr. Peter Odili’s led administration to serve the interest of Rivers people, but was abandoned with the General Atomics Aerotec in Munich, Germany by the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi’s administration since 2012. “What is very important to all of us here today is that when we came into power in 2015, nobody handed over any report or gave us handover note to let us know where such an asset of the state was, only for us to hear in 2019 that this asset is somewhere,” Wike said. The governor also stated that so much money was spent by the state government on the aircraft; money that would have been put into other development projects if his administration had known of it quite early. According to him, in fixing the aircraft, a certificate of airworthiness certificate, issued by the Nigerian government, was secured for the aircraft to return to Nigeria. The Rivers State Governor said, “Of course, we did everything we could do and we told Nigerians that by the grace of God, we will not allow this asset to go that way. “We must return it for the people of the State to decide what they are going to do with it. I am so elated that at the end of the day, all of our struggles are not in vain. “I think Rivers people for the support. I thank the Rivers State House of Assembly for the support. I thank the Executive for the support. “But for their support, it would not have been possible to spend the money we spent. If you hear the money we spent, its money that would have been put in other development projects if we were told on time.” The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Ikuinyi- Owaji Ibani, expressed delight that after ten years, the Rivers State government has successfully recovered the aircraft. He said the State government will decide how the asset will be used in furtherance of the state’s development. Senator Barry Mpigi, who represents Rivers South-East District in the Senate, commended governor Wike for his tenacity to defend the interest of the State. According to him, the recovered aircraft is additional asset to the government and people of Rivers State. The chairman, Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, said governor Wike has once again demonstrated his zeal to protect the interest of the State. The King lauded the governor for not allowing the State property to get lost in Europe and unaccounted for. The former Presidents of the Nigerian Bar Association, Onueze C. Okocha, SAN and Okey Wali, SAN said the State governor has proven his determination to defend the interest of the State. In the same vein, the Chief Ferdinand Alabraba and His Royal Majesty, Nne-Nwe-Eli Emohua XIII (OLO IV), Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, said recovery of the aircraft remains a credit to the governor Wike’s administration. https://punchng.com/wike-recovers-rivers-aircraft-from-germany/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing has commended the Kebbi state government over successful implementation of some programmes and the inclusive governance which made the state stable in the northern part of Nigeria. Laing stated this during a courtesy visit on Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. According to her, “Our earlier impression is how successful Kebbi is, you are a secured state in a very unsecured region, it is a fundamental achievement. We just come from a meeting with the Commissioners trying to find problem to talk about, but it seems that you have been very successful, especially the commitment you have to inclusion to reaching out to communities, it’s a real success, we want other states to learn from you. “Secondly, I think the economy seems to be doing relatively well, lots of opportunities to talk about, agricultural value-chain which we would like to hear more about.” While lamenting the devastating effect of flood that ravaged the state in the previous years, Laing also sought to know “how prepared the state is to mitigate the recurrence of the menace.” Laing also recalled that there was a strong bond of relationship between the United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, assuring that the new King would no doubt further strengthen the already established harmonous relationship for the good of the two nations. “There is a strong bond between UK and Nigeria, of course, but I think across that bond is shared admiration, respect for the royal family, the Queen and now King Charles. so, I am very confident that this will help us build our foundation,” the High Commissioner stressed. In his respond, Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu appreciated the High Commissioner for finding Kebbi worthy of visit just few days after the Queen’s funeral, saying, “that shows how committed you are to it. He said: “I pray this visit will foster more understanding, cooperation, mutual respect and reward for efforts between our state and the high commission.” The governor said Kebbi State covered about 36,000 square kilometers with a little bit over 5 million people sharing not only borders with both Benin and Niger Republics but also history. “This is because, we have four emirates which are tradition-based areas headed by Emirs and one of the emirates, Argungu Emirate was to the extent of present day Niger Republic and the same thing with Gwandu Emirate it extended up to Bokinafaso. “Therefore, we have historical ties with people in Niger Republic, Benin Republic to date and that had been very successful, the emirate system helped us to build mutual tolerance for each other. “Because the four emirates are distinct and the four emirs through history incorporated and built mutual respect for each other and in so doing, it encouraged competition, which inculcated the culture of competition and reward for efforts,” he noted. Bagudu added that it was not surpprising that the four emirates endeavoured to organise and reward efforts of various competitions in education, sports and economic activities that covered agriculture, fishing, livestock and pastoral activities. “Also, there are conflict resolution mechanism at the local levels which helped in maintaining peace. “Even those conflict resolution mechanisms are being increasingly stressed by urbanisation, by population growth, by the need for more land for various activities, by water bodies that no longer support the fishing and agricultural activities as the way they are supposed to,” he said. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/british-high-commissioner-lauds-kebbi-govt-over-successful-programmes-implementationstable-state/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle https://thenationonlineng.net/kebbi-britain-to-co-operate-on-economy-culture/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately delete the Zamfara Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the March 11, 2023 governorship election immediately. Justice Aminu Aliyu of Federal High Court, Gusau had, on Friday ruled that the PDP governorship primary election in Zamfara State conducted on 25th May 2022 was in flagrant violation of Section 50(2) (b) & (3) of the constitution of the PDP 2017 (as amended). But the APC National Vice Chairman, North-west, Dr. Salihu Lukman in a statement issued Tuesday, said the order of the Federal High Court asked the PDP to conduct a valid primary election under the supervision of INEC for the enlistment of its candidate for the 2023 general election. Lukman in the statement said with the judgement, PDP has no candidate for the March 11, 2023 governorship election in the state. He added, “PDP and any considered candidate for the party for 2023 governorship election should only be enlisted if provisions of the PDP 2017 constitution as amended and provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 are met as directed by Honourable Justice Aminu B. Aliyu.” “Therefore, in addition to delisting PDP and its 2023 governorship candidate for Zamfara State as directed by the order of the Federal High Court, Gusau, INEC must take every step to ensure that PDP’s conduct of disrespect for its own rules is not allowed to pollute the 2023 elections.” Lukman alleged that by its conduct, PDP was only working to win the 2023 elections through rigging. The APC Chieftain pointed out that PDP as a party that manages its internal contests in breach of its own rules could only win elections by unfair and illegal means. The member of the National Working Committee noted that Nigerian democracy has come of age, stressing that PDP must not be allowed to take Nigeria back to the dark period of unfair and illegal determination of election results based on the imposition of candidates and winners of the election. Lukman called on INEC and all patriotic Nigerians, especially APC leaders in the North-West, as well as APC candidates for the 2023 elections at all levels to be vigilant to stop the PDP from attempting to impose their ‘candidates’ as winners. https://dailypost.ng/2022/09/20/apc-to-inec-delist-pdps-candidate-for-zamfara-governorship-election-immediately/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe |

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognized candidates produced by the Dan Orbih faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as qualified standard bearers of the party in the forthcoming 2023 elections. Recall that the party has been engulfed in supremacy battle between Governor Godwin Obaseki’s faction and the faction led by the party National Vice Chairman South South, Dan Orbih, leading to the conduct of parallel primaries in May this year. The parallel primaries resulted in litigations and a high court ruling recognized those that emerged from Orbih’s faction primaries. However, Obaseki-led camp had appealed the judgement and the matter is now before the Court of Appeal. The state party chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, had in August presented certificate of return to those that emerged winner from the governor’s faction primaries. Our reporter who visited the INEC office in Benin, observed that the INEC had pasted a comprehensive list on its notice board and all the PDP candidates on the list were the winners who emerged from the primaries conducted by the Orbih’s faction. Daily Trust also observed that the pasted list reads court order. Responding, the state party chairman, Aziegbemi, said there is no issue about the list as the candidates are still in court. “They are still in court up to the Supreme Court. So INEC is obeying the first court order which they (Orbih’s faction) got, which is fine. So we are awaiting the case to progress to logical conclusion before we know exactly where we stand.” But as we speak, we are one PDP, we are good and there is nothing to be agitated about. The electoral process allowed for litigation and until the conclusion of that option that is available to every body, there is nothing to be agitated about “We should not forget we are one PDP and one big family, so we should all wait until the highest court in the land gives the final verdict” On his part, the state party’s secretary, Hillary Otsu, said the list released by INEC is the state’s authentic list. “Yes, that is the authentic list and that is the candidates of the party’s primaries monitored by INEC and we don’t have any objection to it,” he said. https://dailytrust.com/2023-obaseki-loses-as-inec-recognises-candidates-from-orbihs-camp mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |

The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that federal lawmakers were no longer interested in the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari any longer, insisting that insecurity, which informed the impeachment threat, has improved. It will be recalled that some Senators cutting across the ruling and opposition parties had given President Buhari a six-week ultimatum to address insecurity or face impeachment from office. The Senate procceded on its annual recess shortly after the ultimatum was given and same has since expired. LEADERSHIP reports that as the Senate reconvene this Tuesday, there were expectations that the impeachment threat against President Buhari will be revisited by the lawmakers. But Senator Kalu, who allayed the fears that Buhari might be impeached by the Senate on resumption, said no lawmaker will be able to provide the required number of signatories for the impeachment either President Buhari or the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan. Kalu added that even if such an issue was brought up again on the floor of the Senate, it will die naturally. Kalu stated these when he spoke to journalists on Tuesday morning on resumption of Senate plenary after a two-month recess. “The issue of impeachment is a non-existing issue. Nobody is talking about it. Even if they try, they will fail because we have the number to resist it. “There is nothing wrong with a lawmaker coming up with an impeachment threat but will they succeed? No! So, as far as I am concerned, there is no discussion about Buhari’s impeachment because security has improved. “We have been meeting with the Service Chiefs and some of you were there and can testify that the issue of security has improved and it will keep improving,” Kalu, who represents Abia North senatorial district, said. https://leadership.ng/no-senator-is-interested-in-buharis-impeachment-again-orji-kalu/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |

Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra, says all the
gunmen caught in the state so far are indigenes of the
south-east.
Soludo said this on Sunday when he featured on Sunday
Politics, a programme on Channels Television.
Anambra, in recent months, has been targeted by
gunmen who attack residents, security operatives and
public infrastructure.
On September 11 , the convoy of Ifeanyi Ubah, lawmaker
representing Anambra south senatorial district, was
attacked by gunmen at Nkwo Enugu Ukwu, in Njikoka
LGA of Anambra.
Police officers and some aides of the senator were
killed in the attack.
Asked on the programme to comment on the identity of
such attackers, who are often referred to as “unknown
gunmen”, the governor said they are known.
“They are plain criminals, nothing else,” he said.
“It is lucrative criminality and idolatry. These are the two
things that have come with it.
“Anambra is, without a doubt, the richest state in the
south-east. So, this is the place where kidnapping has
the highest value. So, you have the highest
concentration here.
“They are not unknown gunmen. They are unknown to
the extent that maybe they are not caught immediately
in the act, but I can tell you that we have been catching
quite a lot of them and they know that something is
happening and that Anambra is not safe for them. Never
again.
“Let me be clear about this. 100 percent of all the
people that we have caught are Igbos. There is no one
who has somebody invading from somewhere. It is 100
percent Igbos on Igbos.
“The first set of people we caught were 100 percent
Igbos from other south-east states and none from
Anambra.
“But as we went on, we then discovered that a whole lot
of the youths who have been taken to these bushes that
got indoctrinated and initiated into all these kinds of
things also happen to be citizens of Anambra state or
indigenes of Anambra.”
The governor also said his administration is doing
everything possible, including using the “stick and
carrot” approach, in tackling criminality in the state.
He said “relative peace” has returned to the state
because his administration came into power “very
determined” to eliminate criminals.

“Their camps are being decimated. It won’t be too long
before we pin them down,” he said.
“Anambra has been quite relatively peaceful. We are
pursuing this agenda. Compared to many other places
in Nigeria, I’ll dare to say — if we are to have the
statistics for the past three months — I think Anambra
will compete favourably as one of the safest
comparatively.” https://www.thecable.ng/all-gunmen-caught-in-anambra-are-igbo-says-soludo/amp mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |
Good good but It also makes no sense because many states can't pay the current one. |
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, stated
this in Abuja on Monday while addressing members of the
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at a public presentation of a
publication titled, “Contemporary History of Working Class
Struggles.”
Ngige stated that the increment in the minimum wage was
necessary due to the current global inflation that has
impacted on citizens’ purchasing power. None of our staff earns up to N1m, PenCom clarifies President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2019, signed Minimum Wage Act into law. However, many States, according to labour leaders, are yet to implement the law of paying their respective workers N30,000. Ngige said, “The inflation is worldwide, we shall adjust the minimum wage in conformity with what is happening and much more important, the 2019 Minimum Wage Act has a new clause for a review. “That adjustment has started with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), because the stage they are with their primary employers, the Ministry of Education, is a Collective Bargaining Agreement, CBA, negotiations. “Under the principles of offer and acceptance, which is that of Collective Bargaining, ASUU can say let’s look at the offer they gave us and make a counter offer, but they have not done that, if they do that, we are bound to look at their offer, these are the ingredients of collective negotiations.” Ngige hinted that the government’s policy on ‘no work, no pay’ may stand, saying, “If you don’t work, you won’t eat. Labour provides the riches of any nation, as well as the prosperity of every family.” The Minister also disclosed that the government was planning to convert one of the institutes under his ministry – Michael Imoudu Institute of Labour Studies located in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, to a degree-awarding institution. https://dailytrust.com/inflation-fg-plans-increment-of-minimum-wage mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |

Operatives of the Zamfara State Hisbah Commission have arrested a man and woman who were allegedly having sex publicly inside a motor park in Gusau, the State capital. DAILY POST gathered that the two people (names withheld) committed the sexual act on an open field inside the motor park, neglecting people in the motor park who were keenly watching them. When their action became a public embarrassment, some motorists and officials of the NURTW quickly alerted officials of State Hisbah commission who rushed and whisked the culprits away. According to one official of Hisbah (Sharia Police) who pleaded anonymity, the two sex offenders disregarded the attention of the public, and went ahead with their shameless affair till some Hisbah operatives stormed the park and arrested them. “The man and woman who publicly had sex in the garage could not defend themselves for the public shame they brought upon themselves, signifying that they are morally corrupt. “The two sex offenders were seen at the Hisbah commission blaming each other for the offence they had committed,” he said. It was also gathered by DAILY POST that the officials of the State Hisbah Commission have already arraigned the two accused persons before the City Higher Shariah Court in Kankuri, Gusau. The Hisbah operative, who spoke with DAILY POST, said “the Sharia law will be applied to the case, either for fornication or adultery because their acts contravened Islamic laws and the cultural traditions of the people of the State.” “Though in Islamic law, there is a difference between adultery and fornication with different sentences”, he added. https://dailypost.ng/2022/09/19/zamfara-hisbah-arrests-two-persons-for-having-sex-in-motor-park/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |

Police have explained how attempt by over sixty- year- old woman, Nsa Heneswa stole three children from different parts of Maiduguri and how her attempt to smuggle them out of the State was foiled. Borno Commissioner of Police(CP), Abdu Umar, said Heneswa was arrested at the Borno Express Motor Park on Aug. 4. Umar who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) said the suspect was arrested by the police in Maiduguri with two abducted Almajiri children and a two-year-old girl. On how Heneswa stole the children, he said, “The suspect arrived Maiduguri on Aug. 3, and went straight to the Monday market where she saw some vulnerable children popularly known as “Almajiri” begging on the road. “The suspect called one of the children and offered him N200. “She then asked him to accompany her so that she can buy him some cloths. “She then went back to the town in search of another victim,” he said. He said that the suspect got to the Yan’ Nono at the Bulumkutu area where she stole another child belonging to Mrs Amina Ayuba, a local fresh milk seller. When she arrived the motor park, she requested for a vehicle going to Lagos but members of the union told her it had already left. “She then begged for a place to stay before the next day. “Again, she went out and picked the third child. “However, luck had ran out on her when she decided to take one of the kids to a local restaurant to get some food,” he said. He said that a commercial driver operating on the Abuja line at the motor park, became suspicious of the way the suspect was behaving and alerted the security and surveillance team at the motor park. The CP said Heneswa was arrested and handed her over to the Police for Investigation. According to him, the woman confessed that she was planing to take the children to Lagos. Umar said that the suspect alongside her accomplices, may said to have been in the business of buying and selling of children for sometime before the long hand of the law caught up with her. Speaking to NAN in police custody, Heneswa said:” honestly, this is the first time I am doing this. “I have never done this before. A woman in Lagos introduced me to this. ”I also have a nurse who was assisting me in the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital,”she said.(NAN) https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2022/08/09/how-heneswa-plot-to-take-3-stolen-children-out-of-maiduguri-was-foiled/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/547752-police-arrest-sexagenarian-for-allegedly-abducting-three-almajiri-children-in-borno.html https://leadership.ng/police-arrest-woman-with-3-abducted-children-in-borno/ |

The enumeration committee of the Federal Government homegrown feeding programme for public primary schools has uncovered 349 ghost schools in Nasarawa state. Team leader of the committee and adviser to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Mallam Abdullahi Usman, disclosed this when he led the members of the committee on a courtesy call on Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House, Lafia. Osinbajo in Kano, condoles Sen Gaya on loss of his son ASUU strike: Pro-Chancellors meet Buhari, demand reversal of ‘No work, no pay’ policy He narrated that some of the officials were pocketing the money meant for schools feeding programme in the state. According to Usman, at the beginning of the programme, 1,203 public primary schools were captured as benefiting schools. “After due process of vetting, the committee discovered that 349 of such schools were actually ghost schools, with some officials pocketing the money meant for feeding these schools,” he stated. He, however, maintained that following the discovery, top ministry officials in Abuja called for the removal of Nasarawa State from the scheme but the decision was rejected in order not to punish the poor children that would benefit from the scheme. He further explained that two key officials of the programme in Nasarawa State, the state programme officer and the consultant were suspended and replaced. He aappreciated all the relevant stakeholders including the National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Bureau for Statistics (NBS), the state Ministry of Education, amongst others, for making the work of the committee a success in Nasarawa State. He particularly applauded the governor for his cooperation and support while also recognising the contribution of the state focal person, Mr Imran Usman Jibrin, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Humanitarian Services. He then rated Nasarawa State as the best supportive state in the country, with the team in the state also rated the best in the country. https://dailytrust.com/349-ghost-schools-benefiting-from-feeding-programme-uncovered-in-nasarawa mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun semid4lyfe dominique Briareos UjSizzle |
