Politics › Re: What Ojukwu Told Me Before, During And After The War —sam Aluko by manosteel(m): 2:29pm On Dec 04, 2011
Although I have never met this prof Aluko in person, I have heard so much about him and I think it won't be out of place to say that he belongs to the set of Nigerian best Brains. His account collaborated some of the things I read in a book tittled EMEKA, written by Frederick Forsyth, a British Author. I recommend the book to anyone who cares, it covered almost everything that transpired in Nigeria during those dark periods and the role each of the actors played, their mistakes, betrayal, etc and why they did what they did, starting from the first Coup to the return of Ojukwu from exile.

Politics › Re: Senate Rejects State Burial For Ojukwu by manosteel(m): 11:24am On Dec 02, 2011
How many people have died in Nigeria and the Senate devoted an entire session to honour them, or agreed to send a high powered delegation, or urged the federal goverment to name a prominent place after them? What a great honour and respect for a man who was not a federal legislature or executive, who made his impact felt in the Nation. A point to note, there are laid down rules for a state burial, the senate made the laws and cannot be seen bending the law.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Senate stood still on Thursday as it devoted the entire session to honour the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. The Senate resolved to observe a minute silence in honour of the deceased; just as it also agreed to send a high powered delegation to commiserate with Ojukwu’s family, the people and Government of Anambra State. The upper chamber also urged the Federal Government to immortalize late Ojukwu by naming a prominent establishment after him.
The opposition of a state funeral was hinged on the argument that Ojukwu did not fall under the category of those who should be so honoured.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu: Immortalize Him – Yerima by manosteel(m): 8:43am On Dec 02, 2011
Ojukwu may not be a hero and no one is making him a hero. The fact is that in Nigeria, apart from Awo, I doubt if there has been any leader that commanded such high level of respect and followership among his people like he did, We didn't get that from Belewa, Bello or Zik. In the present day Nigeria, all we have are leaders that imposed themselves on us, sucking and looting dry our general purse, breast feeding themselves and their families from our national resources, and at the same time walking freely in our society without shame, parading themselves in costly Apparels and Regalia while we sit akimbo and watch helplessly. So the only man who took the couage to fight the statusquo should not be castigated.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu: Immortalize Him – Yerima by manosteel(m): 7:54am On Dec 02, 2011
Opobo in River state is an ancient city with a famous king known as king Jaja of Opobo, it is an Ibo speaking region, the same applies to Asaba in Delta state, just to mention few. The good thing is that The man who caused this division, I mean Yakubu himself has started regretting. When Ojukwu was conserving his territory, Him Yabuku or wetin sef, Yakubu was busy conserving power. Today in his Jos home town, he cannot go to sleep with both eyes closed because Aboki and their cows have taken over all the places.
Politics › Re: US Considers Tough Stance On Boko Haram As SSS Parades Suspects by manosteel(m): 8:14pm On Dec 01, 2011
Just hear them, they are taking Nigerians to be little children. When did the the Chukwudis, Tochukwus, Ebukas, Okoros become Boko-Haram. They even lacked the lever to follow the Real Boko-Haram to their caves, they sent former Boko-Haram Obj to beg them. When it appeared that they were loosing the fight, they started catching everyone with suspicious move including scammers and labelled them Boko-Haram. If they had parraded one innocent Aboki or Mai suya from maiduguri, Nigerians would have been tempted to believe them.
Politics › Re: I Told Ojukwu To Apologise Over Civil War - Obasanjo by manosteel(m): 3:56pm On Dec 01, 2011
I have two regrets, one is that Ojukwu died with one secret, the secret of 'Ogbunigwe', that dreaded weapon of mass destruction. At the moment, only the depleted parts of it can be seen In National war Museum Umuahia. This technology should have been handed over and further developed. My second regret is that Yakubu Gowon is now born again, if he die like his friend Ojukwu, he may probabily go to heaven, not realy sure if he deserve to go there.

Okija juju! Okija juju!! Okija juju!!! Heeee! How many times did i call your name? Watch your mouth else your head will be used to bury Ojukwu, Nigerians are mourning.
Politics › Re: I Told Ojukwu To Apologise Over Civil War - Obasanjo by manosteel(m): 5:22am On Nov 30, 2011
Whenever the name Ojukwu is mention, there is bound to be a reaction and a heated debate, even at death, the heat is still on. His return from exile was like a triumphant entry, the news were everywhere, the North stood still, Millions gathered at Murtala Mohammed Int'l airport, just to catch a glimpse of the man who was brave and courageous enough to wage war against injustice and distributive inequality.

Many are just here threading words. Just take a look at the calibre of men pouring tribute to a man who shaped Nigerian Mordern history. While he was alive, he hardly visited Aso Rock, but men in the Aso Rock pay him visit in his little home, you can name them, IBB, Abacha, Obasanjo and most recently Goodluck Jonathan, not to mention Ambassadors, senators, Governors etc, just to tell you how this Icon is highly revered by men that matter, So the opinions of few unknown entities amount to Nothing. He had made his mark and he is gone.
Politics › Re: I Told Ojukwu To Apologise Over Civil War - Obasanjo by manosteel(m): 6:13pm On Nov 29, 2011
Believe it or not, Ojukwu is a man of history and his place in Nigeria history can not easily be erased. Here is a man who was enlisted in Nigerian Army 1957 as a private soldier or recruit after his Masters degree in Oxford University, what a humble begining for a man with opulence up-bringing! He climbed through the military ladder and became a Lt.Col and was appointed Commander, 5th Battalion, Nigerian Army at the age of 25years, when many at his age were busy carrying catapult, chasing birds and rats. The rest is now history. There is one thing you cannot take away from this man, his English command, poetry and oratory skills. May his soul rest in peace.
Politics › Re: Why Do Nigerians In Diaspora Refer To Nigeria As Africa? by manosteel(m): 6:11pm On Nov 25, 2011
We should not shy away from the truth. The name Nigeria rings bell and it means different thing to different people in Europe and Asia. Most times when you tell someone that you are from Nigeria, you may end up regretting why you did so because he will remind you how unsafe Nigeria is, the fraudstars, the corruption, kidnapping, killing etc. Probably, the only good thing they will remember about Nigeria is football, they will ask you do you know Amokachi, Kanu, Okocha, Finidi etc and that is the only time you will have reason to smile and possibly claim that one of them happened to be your uncle.
Politics › Re: Suggest Your New Chairman Of Efcc To Mr President. by manosteel(m): 5:39pm On Nov 25, 2011
We all agreed that she was appointed to the wrong Ministry, when she should have been appointed to the Ministry Health, Education or Science. I guess the FG did that so that she could use her popularity to blow their trumpet. She tried doing that but it wasn't in her, and remember when she risked her life and position as a Minister and presented that famous paper that probably brought to an end to Yaradua's cabals' grip to power, she said that her intergrity and concience would not allowed to continue in that statusquo. No one is 100% good, whether we believe it or not, Nuhu Ribadu and Akunyili brought live to their Ministry and created a shoe too big for anyone coming behing them to wear.
Politics › Re: Suggest Your New Chairman Of Efcc To Mr President. by manosteel(m): 4:38pm On Nov 25, 2011
EFCC is made up of people from Law, Economics, security etc. So you don't need to be a policeman to head EFCC. All you need is incorruptible someone with mental Toughness to lead the team, which I believe that Dora Akunyili can do very well. This name will not go down well with some people especially the supporters of Yaradua so-called kitchen cabinet or the cabals whom she stood against their grip to power when Mr President was ill.

I won't blame Keshi for his approach, he must have learnt one or two lessons. The NFF was busy drumming for Sia1 from the bush, and he was happily dancing their drumbeat, on reaching a cross-road, he was deserted and beheaded like Ikemuefuna in Things Fall Apart by the same people whose drumbeat he had trusted.

Politics › Re: Buhari Rejects Results In 22 States And Fct by manosteel(m): 6:36am On Apr 19, 2011
@azeezngr, you made sense. For those making trouble, four year ago, in an election that was nothing but fraud, in which Buhari himself contested, a Northerner, late U.M. Yaradua was imposed on us, no one from the south or east killed anybody for it, his supporters never killed anybody, why killing now?
Politics › Re: Buhari Rejects Results In 22 States And Fct by manosteel(m): 6:16am On Apr 19, 2011
Someone should advise this man to accept defeat and stop making trouble. It amazes me why these Abokis and their Malams will pick up knives, guns and enter the street, start killing Christians, burning churches, etc. over a little incident. They should know that nobody has the monopoly for violence. It is just that we preach peace, for our God is the Prince of Peace and they should not mistake it to be cowardice. However, if anyone claims to be on drug, let him go  to Enugu, Onitcha, Aba or Umuahia, set a church ablaze and go back to the desert. Haba Malam! enaf is enaf!
Politics › Re: Buhari Rejects Results In 22 States And Fct by manosteel(m): 5:46am On Apr 19, 2011
Buhari should have known better, there was no how he could have won in the South East, South South and South West. Due to his religious inclination and support to sharia, many in these region still didn't believe him and couldn't have casted their vote to him. The election was clean and clear before the eyes of the whole world. My question to him is this, he won the the majority votes in the North, was the software installed to rig the election only in the south?
Politics › Re: Official Results Of Presidential Election: By INEC by manosteel(m): 6:53pm On Apr 17, 2011
PDP may not be everyone's favourite but the man in question is a very sincere person who can be trusted just like his predecessor late U. M. Yaradua. He promised free and fair election and he delivered it. Before appointing Mr Jega as the INEC Chairman, he knew just little about him on a personal level unlike before the INEC Chairman used to be a personal friend to Mr President, who will be nothing but the instrument of iniquity in time of election.
Politics › Re: Official Results Of Presidential Election: By INEC by manosteel(m): 6:28pm On Apr 17, 2011
The good thing about this election is that the peoples's vote counted. The reason why our leaders were not accountable to us in time past was that we never sent them, rather they sent themselves and imposed themselves on us through rigging and therefore had no reason be accountable to anybody. This time, the people have spoken and who ever that wins will know that he is just an employee who is accountable to the people, his employer. If he is still in doubt about the people and power, he should ask president H.Mubarak of Egypt.

@Akainzo you just said what happened in your place but you did not tell us the state, LG, Ward or even Polling unit. We need information that can be verified. You never can tell, such information can play a role in pursuit for justice.
Politics › Re: Presidential Election, 16th April, 2011 by manosteel(m): 8:11pm On Apr 16, 2011
The reason why 70% of Nigerians still live in Poverty despite our huge mineral resources is simply corruption, and that is why i would have loved Buhari to win. However, if GEJ could conduct free, credible and impeccable election, that alone speak volume of  his sincerity and character and in that case, he  can be trusted.
Politics › When Will I Seize To Be A Black Man? by manosteel(op): 1:48pm On Apr 14, 2011
I am a black man, and i am very proud of my colour. God made some white and some black, no one chose his colour. However, the age long imagination of the western civilization is based on the concept that black and inferior or evil are synonymous. In their wisdom, they considered the devil to be black and Angels to be white. Their drawings, paintings and widescreen show it and they thought us to believe so. When the search for the the early Man or the Ape-like man began, they all beamed their search light towards Africa, from Mozambique to Malawi, from Madagascar to Ethiopia etc. They call us names such as third world countries, under-develop countries, bush countries etc.
Are they to be blamed? Just take a look around the world to where ever black race exist, such as Haiti, Australia, Jamaica, Africa etc, you will realize that the story is just the same. Poverty, crime, illiteracy, Hiv/aids, corruption etc are competing for top position. The question remains,do all these things have anything to do with our colour or could it be that we are the architect of our own problems?
God has not been completely unfair to us. It is believed that civilization started in Africa and in Egypt to be precise. The act of Reading and Writting, Astrology, Philosophy, Magic, Construction and Organized Rulership, all had their root in Egypt yet today, they are still struggling to hold their own. It is being said that Haiti got their independence 200 years ago, the same period with USA yet they are still a third world country, still living on foreign Aids. In Australia, the black Aborigines are believed to be the first inhabitant and the real indigen of Australia. This is a black community living in a country known to have some of the best cities in the world, Melbourne, Sydney etc yet they are still languishing in abject poverty. How about my own country Nigeria, the most populous black Nation on earth, with huge mineral resources but its citizens are living below poverty line. No wonder some white folks have gone ahead to call the black race a wasted generation. It is high time our leaders woke from their sleep, sit-up, denounced corruption and embraced good governance.
Politics › Re: Our Diversity Should Be Our Source Of Strength, Says Fashola by manosteel(m): 3:59pm On Mar 31, 2011
Nigeria is a big country with so many ethnic groups. As a result, Unity in diversity will continue to be a great source of controvercy  in this country untill we have found out the best way to go about. Chief Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe and Alhaji Tafewa Belewa tried it during their time but they failed to come to a compromise. Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe was of the view that, if we must live together as one, then we must forget our differences. However, Alhaji Tafewa Belewa vehemently disagreed with that philosophy. He was of the school of thought that we must know our differences and not to forget it, in order to be able to live together as one. So what do you think is the best way out?

O boy e! This honourable will kill person with grammar one day o!. Some posts here can cure high fever and can  be used in a nite of a thousand laugh. Me i like this guy sha, and many of his colleagues do though they will like to pretend, You can imagine a session without him. He is a Benin High Chief, the Igodomigodo 1. For his contributions to the world of grammar, we have decided to add another tittle to his numerous titles, The Ogbududu and the Igidigba 1 of heavy grammar.
Politics › Collection Of Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon Grammars by manosteel(op): 6:59am On Mar 11, 2011
Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon and Chris Okotie are well known for their use of heavy grammars, and from the look of things, the Honourable is looking more dangerous. I can't stop laughing, watching him accuses his colleagues of "Stouting and Suyaing" in the house. Some of his heavy grammars although very correct, sound like abusive words or like the kinds of names you would call your older brother who forcifully took your meat or stole your orange from your school bag. No wonder, many a times, he finds himself in trouble with his colleagues who feel insulted by some of his grammars. Take a look, you can as well add more.

Politics › Re: Kanu Asks Fg To Absorb Biafran Scientists by manosteel(m): 7:35pm On Mar 09, 2011
I know that this will generate ethnic sentiment, and that is why we find it difficult to make progress especially when it comes in-terms of healing old wounds. This is not about Biafra, it is about our country, Nigeria. If we must be the giant we all crave for, we must go for technological know-how, no matter where it found even in the hands of so called enemies. However, for some who have little knowledge about the Biafran's  ammunitions and technology, just take a visit to National War Museum Umuahia, like they say, "Neccesity is the mother of invention", you will be appaled by the ingenuity deplayed by the Biafran's Scientist and Engineers, considering the adverse conditions within which they operated. Notable among them are the famous Ogbunigwe (weapon of mass distruction), Armoured tank named Red Devil, hand grenades, guns etc. These technologies should have been sustained and improved upon by the Nigerian goverment, certainly not Biafra anymore or even the Easten state goverment. Today, Aba is a shadow of its old self due to negligence and lack of support by the goverment. This is a city nicknamed Japan of Africa, noted for their infamous production of Substandard goods known as Aba-Made. Taiwan started that way as well as china, we can see where they are today.
Christianity Etc › Should One Worry About Another Man's Religion? by manosteel(op): 9:01pm On Mar 06, 2011
Many believe that religion is a thing of the mind and a personal thing. I strongly believe that religion should be a personal relationship between one and his personal God or his Creator, which shouldn't be someone else problem, considering the fact that many of us are in one religion or the other which we did not choose. Take for instance, my grand father was an idol worshiper, he served arusi, a wooden god made from iroko. My father worshipped idol too but later got converted to christianity, which means that i was born into a christian home and authomatically i became a christian by birth. This can not be said of my friend Abdul, his father Malam Salisu is a muslim and my friend was born into a muslim home, and no surprise he is a muslim today. One of my colleagues at work, Krishna, an Indian, worships snake and cow and other gods, should he be blamed or judged by anyone? Is it fault of his? His grand father was a Hindu, he worshipped snake and cow till dealth, his father followed suit, and now he himself. In conclussion, instead of judging one another because of ones religious affiliation, we should only do our best, be the best we can and allow God to judge.
Politics › Re: Gov Orji Walks Out Of Political Debate!can It Affect His Election? by manosteel(m): 9:21am On Mar 05, 2011
Sorry your excellency, it wasn't campaign. He thought it was campaign so that he could open his mouth wide and lash his tongue. He lacked the audacity to face the opposition canditates in debate, knowing fully well that he couldn't have defended himself considering the condition of the state. That gathering should have been an avenue for him to sell his candidacy but he was intimidated and he decided to walk away because that was the easy way out. Let it be known to him that he will not run away forever, sooner or later, he will still come back to face the mases and give account of his stewardship, then the people will know if he has lost the mandate to rule or not.
