Silly haters everywhere. This girl is pretty, make-up or not. Besides, do you guys actually think most of the contestants in beauty pageants are actually pretty. You guys ought to be asking if she's intelligent enough to represent Nigeria because on that day every girl on that stage is going to look pretty.

For those of you asking why her hometown is Lagos. This is the definition of hometown.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hometown

It's different from 'state of origin'

A black country made up of black people with different shades and can therefore choose anyone suitable enough to represent them.
If only you would realize that you're the slave here but I don't expect you to understand.
And what percentage of Nigerians come in her Shade, you pathetic Slave?

My brother, join me and a few other intelligent Nigerians to go and buy land somewhere and form our country. Don't let your brain be wasting here in Nigeria o!

Yankari could have been a big money spinner. We could charge money to fence these places, hire people to care for them, hire vets, zoologists, you name it (but hey, we are complaining we don't have jobs!) But noooo, hippos cause wahala to a small section of people when we could keep them alive and make money off a larger section. Besides even in Lagos there is N400 meat, don't tell me villagers are starving, city people are the hungry ones.
My Dear, The most Heartbreaking part is when Well-meaning Nigerians approach the Govt as Consultancy firms with the view of tapping this enormous Resources, they frustrate them with Bureaucracy..So many wildlife support groups exist in the world looking for Ecosystems to protect! But they know Nigeria is a NO GO ZONE! You find yourself spending more than a Million in bribes and more than 6months in time just to get papers to approve Someone Else to Spend His Money on the conservation of YOUR OWN FUCKING ECOSYSTEM whose benefits or losses affect you directly!!!

Science/TechnologyRe: Hippo Killed In River Benue by MansaMoussa: 10:13am On Jan 24, 2015
Before we blame the Fishermen, its imperative to ask the question? With Whom Lies The Primary responsibility of Protection of Wild-life and people (especially Dangerous Wild life?)

Hippos have inhabited the Benue River for Hundreds of Years. However recently population boom around the river banks and explosion in the number of Hippos leading to inevitable contact often with dangerous sequelae on both sides!
I remember as a Child, when I used to spend Holidays with my Uncle in Makurdi, there was a Gulf Course behind his Quarters and we saw how Hippos come out of the Water to wreck Havoc on the Grass at night!
Stories of Hippos attacking Fishermen and other Passengers of Canoes were common. It was very bad, yet there was never a Time, the Ministry of Environment or Wildlife Protection Agency considered locating or Fencing off some segments of the River dominated by Hippos! Instead the Govt made some Obnoxious Laws about Arresting anyone who kills a Hippo! How Stupid!!!
Does the Govt know the actual Number of Hippos in the River?
Do they know the number that must be maintained to ensure a Healthy Ecosystem?
Are there any Population control measures for the Hippos?

If a Hippo begins to terrorise my neighbours, I'll pick up a Rifle and Shoot it! Period!!!

What we are seeing is the Product of a Useless Govt! The Benue Govt is the most backward and Illiterate Govt I've seen in my life!
Makurdi is the most Iconic State Capital in Nigeria, with the River Benue giving the City a distinct identity, you can virtually see the River at any point you stand in Markurdi!
The Tourism Potentials are Enormous!!!
1. Yearly Boat Carnivals
2. UniAgric vs BSU Canoeing Competition (Oxford/Cambridge Model)
3.Swimming Competitions
4.Various 5-star Hotel Rivieras
5 Any Water Sport at all

Using Wire Meshes, Hippos are isolated from routes Humans ply and everyone will be Happy! The Hippos themselves will become tourist attractions!

All the Govt needs to do is to travel to countries like the UK, SA, etc and partner with foreign Developers who should be given huge Concessions and Waivers to run such development schemes for 20-30yrs, by the time they are done, the city won't be recognized!
But a Govt that would rather sponsor Beauty Pageants and watch its huge factories(Teraku Mills etc) rot rather than auction off to investors to create employment isn't the kinda of Govt I should be wasting my time talking about!

Honestly, Buhari isn't saying things I expect! At this point in the campaign when intricacies win the day, you are still being vague and repetitive!
Most or all of his suggestions have already been undertaken by the Government! Niger, Chad and Cameroun have been officially invited to partner with us but we've seen them for the Vultures they are!
Truth here is, this Election isn't about Performance. its about a power play amongst the Major Ethnic Groups of the Country! GEJ's supposed incompetence, Boko Haram, etc are all exploitable variables! The 1st Time this happened in the History of the Country, it plunged us into a Fratricidal War that claimed Millions! The last time we saw this kinda power-play in Nigeria, MKO was Jailed and people died paving way for the most repressive Govt in the country!

GEJ has as much claim to a 2nd Tenure as Buhari's claim to the Presidency! Both have their Self-survival at stake!
One one end is a Herdsman who needs the South to survive while on the other wishes the re-negiotate his this delicate unwritten treaty spanning a Century!

Fair point you make, but Blaise Campaore has finally been pushed out by the Burkinabes, hasn't he? Had Campaore been a military dictator do you think he would have rolled over that easy? People power is relevant, and it can be better expressed where there is a semblance of democracy no matter how imperfect.

At least in the cases you highlighted the civilian dictators couldn't have relied on brute force alone. They can use state resources to maintain patronage networks which can be used as leverage, true, but that doesn't sound as bad as repressive military regimes that silence all opposition. At least these ones tend to bribe their opponents rather than kill them. grin

Jokes apart, I still think we could have wriggled through that dark period without resorting to military intervention.
Honestly, I still think the Burkinabe Military should get 60% of the Credit! If they had not turned against the Regime, what chances do you think the Civilian Protesters must have had? In a hypocritical world as ours today, a thousand Burkinabes would've been mowed down by Security forces during the demonstration and all we would have heard is international condemnations.
Compaore fled when it was clear to him that he had lost military support! And the Burkinabes know this, that is why they rewarded Col. Zida by electing him as head of the Interim Govt.
So you see, once the military affirms itself as protectors of the people, civilian regimes become more careful!

While I agree that it is possible to progress as a country under military rule, I disagree with the examples you gave - a better example would be South Korea under General Park Chung-Hee.

That said, the major issue with military regimes, like all non-democratic regimes, is that it depends on the magnanimity of whoever happens to be in charge of the country at the time. Yes a country can progress under military rule like South Korea did, but what do you do when the military ruler ends up like Mobutu? Any attempt to change such a leader, or indeed even to register a tinge of discontent, would be crushed with overwhelmingly brutal force. The unfortunate truth is that military regimes in Nigeria have given us more Mobutus than Parks.

To further illustrate the above point, ask yourself if Nigeria would have had the misfortune of being misgoverned by the likes of IBB and Abacha had the 1983 coup not taken place.

The Second Republic was extremely corrupt, yes I agree. But Buhari and the military should have left us the Nigerian people to sort out the mess ourselves. I repeat, the coup was a tragic mistake.
To some extent I agree with you Sir, but while u put forth the mobutu, abacha and ibb scenarios as likely sequelae of military interventions, you fail to mention the Theodore Nguemas, Paul Biyas, Compraores, Mugabes, etc who have virtually used democratic institutions to perpetuate their reigns (being re-elected cyclically through massively rigged elections) and forming governing classes whose loyalty does not lie with the people but the regime!
The Shagari Regime was so corrupt that no political means existed to turn things around! The opposition, advocacy groups etc were all pocketed! Same way every institution that should pressurize this regime has been incapacitated by corruption leaving a vacuum only the Opposition can fill even though they fall short of expectations!

So you support a military coup in Nigeria today?
No Sir! Because the instability that would ensue from such coup would worsen the situation in the NE (the Mali situation)! Secondly, We lack enough Military Cohesion to sustain a violent Regime change today! Thirdly, with worsening Economic situation for the country, Western Sanctions would be disastrous for us! Fourthly, the Political Landscape appears Matured enough to effect a peaceful change(if PDP and APC pull this off, they'll go into history as setting the foundations of a Democratic Nigeria)!
So no Sir! I wouldn't support a Coup in Nigeria today, but would probably have supported one in the 1960s, 70s and 80s because I saw Egypt, Brazil, Argentina, Libya, etc move forward under military regimes then!

Why do we act and speak as if Democracy solves all the Problems of a Country? What do we really want as People? An all round improvement in Standard of Living or just an Avenue to bicker? The Chinese have transcended beyond US Democracy to mould a Unique system of Govt that suits her people and has successfully used this model to move from a 3rd world Country to an Advanced Country!!!

A Country's Military is her 4th Tier of Govt and the ultimate Protector of the State (not Regime please)! In a Situation where the Regime turns on its people, who comes to their Rescue? (Romania under Ceausescu, Egypt under Mubarak/Morsi, etc) indeed this role has been abused severally and lost its appeal over the years, it is still a viable option for Liberation of the Citizenry, if not, they will resolve to take Arms against the Regime themselves and Chaos will prevail (eg Libya, Yemen, Syria etc)

So YES! Massive Corruption and Govt Apathy towards her Citizen justifies an Intervention! Afterall, Foreign Govts today are planning to occupy our territory on the premise that our govt cannot protect its people, how much more the Army whose statutory role it is to protect the State and all within it!

Zamfara has been having problems with cattle rustlers for some time now, though under-reported! I doubt if they are Boko Haram elements! So let's avoid sensationalism! But on the other hand, the presence of several armed groups(especially fulani herdsmen)scattered around the hills of Northern Nigeria poses a perpetual threat to that region much more than BH!
BH only gets more attention because of their sensational attacks! These herdsmen however have killed more people than BH!

RE: NIGER DELTA READY FOR WAR!!!

You are free to share
Forwarded as received

I was in conversation with a United Nation official yesterday and we were talking about the acquisition of warships by ethnic militant Tompolo, in a country were our brave soldiers are being starved off equipment. He told me point blank that in every major conflict he has assessed or being involved in as a UN official it all started with one fellow choosing to ARM an ETHNIC MILITIA as against the national army of the country, sometimes deliberately depleting the army before the violence starts.

I first got reports of Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo buying military helicopters and hardware from diplomatic intelligence sources about 2 years ago. Shortly after that he was arrested in Benin Republic but released upon the intervention of our government. What I can see is very clear, JONATHAN is leading an effort to create an alternate military force in the Niger Delta to force the hands of the generality of NIGERIANS when the time comes. How else can one explain Tompolo a man once declared wanted for killing our soldiers now effectively taking over the duties of our navy?

Where is all the money coming from? Do you think the arms are being bought for boat parade or regatta? No they are to kill NIGERIANS.

JONATHAN has never been able to rise to fill the position of the NIGERIAN Presidency, he acts like an ethnic war lord and at the rate he is going he is going to push us into the path of Liberian and Sierra Leone, while silly people are busy cheering him on.

I have taken it upon myself to write a letter of complaint and warning to the United Nations Secretary General to pay attention to what JONATHAN and his cohorts are doing in Nigeria, seemingly pushing the country closer to a violent ethnic crisis.

This crisis would consume the entire African continent if not checked.

This morning I received this in my in box, and I couldn't help but shudder that we are dealing with really devious human beings who have mistakenly found themselves in power. Their attitude and body language says it all:

"I'm really amused that we are all screaming murder years after the deed was done? It's well over 3 years that I have been screaming the overall plans and strategies of the south-south vs the behemoth Nigeria, i.e, their eventual emancipation! For the sake of many who have not read or few who have taken these posts as scare mongering by Oyenuga Lanre Paul, I'll re summarise them here. To free their region of the shackles of endless exploitation and domination by the rest of Nigeria, the south-south decided as follow:

1). Cripple the Nigerian Army's capacities to engage in sustained warfare: thus the encouragement of BH and decimation of the army's hardware and personnel.

2). Ensure Nigeria is economically destitute and unable to spend on warfare: thus the unprecedented looting of the treasury, resulting in our current vulnerability. Okonjo Iweala is not 'coordinating' for nothing.

3). Is the military takeover of our coastal waters by the south-south, which is what the coastal waterways protection contract with Government Tompolo was designed to guarantee. Let no one be deceived, less than 0.5% of our military, (including naval and air force) personnel can swim in an 8 foot deep pool, not to mention a river or coastal waters. Thus, how do you engage these toughened militia in their coastal waters, when we couldn't tackle BH in plain view?

4th). Is the intense frustrations of the oil producing companies by the south southerners nouveau-riche to hand over the onshore production bases to them by forced sale or outright disruption of their operations. As we chat here, 70% of the onshore operations have been sold off by the major players like shell, Mobil, etc.

As well as the training of ex militants as pilots under amnesty Anyone doubting my claims of warning about these can browse through my timeline.

IF THE SOUTH-SOUTH PULLS OUT TODAY, WE ARE SITTING DUCKS! The South-East are tagging along with the south-south, for obvious reasons and I don't blame them!

The choice of Buhari is due to these calculations by our rulers in the South-West and the core North. Unless I'm paranoid, we have a scary situation ahead. I moved my family out as far back as 2011, based on this concerns.

GEJ will very likely lose the elections in 2015, but the south-south will keep their oil. Can we afford a war with a region sitting on oil? Do we have a military capable of delivering our goal? Would it not be cheaper to renegotiate our federation?

Or, would it be another Rehoboamic declaration of "To your tents o Israel"? GEJ ain't clueless, he's merely troubled by the plots he's a key player in?

Viva Le Nigeria'.."!

Controversial...(similar methods were tried by the British in Kenya during the Mau Mau uprising in the 1950's....and by the Rhodesian govt in the 1970's as well as the Sri lankans during the Tamil uprising)...but brutally effective.

Problem is...you create a serious artificial refugee problem....and you may even make it easier for Boko to recruit (what better way to get new members than from angry, disaffected youths who are bitter about being thrown out from their villages for a problem they did not create). And there ia the human rights aspect. To say nothing of the health care issues....especially the psychological aspects.

BTW...Israel does have some experience in urban based terror...including the Suicide Bomb aspect. (They also walled off the Palestinian territories...which I don't really approve of,but desperate times......which reduced the number of suicide bombings.)
Which is easier for BH to recruit from? A Well fortified Community similar to yours run by the Govt or a Primary School in a Country where you rely on Hand-Outs to feed and NOTHING is provided for you?
I saw BH Refugees in Jalingo out in the Cold last year with nobody looking out for them! We directed some of them to the Cathedral, NYSC camp, and Central mosque!

The Mau-Mau case is entirely different because the British Govt was an Occupying force!
Look at the Tamil Case you mentioned, has Sri Lanka not brought the war to an end now?
As early as Last Year, the Egyptian Govt did that, by clearing the Sinai Peninsula to squarely engage Insurgents!
Same Last Year, Pakistani Military built good camps for Citizens of the Swath Valley to move into, before carrying out their Offensive against the Taliban!
The most Humane methods do not Win you Wars! Practical methods do!
if the Citizens of Baga had been duely Evacuated and camped in let's say Bama, an Overnight Shelling of the Town would have reclaimed it the next day because no fear of Civilian Casualties here!

For the Man saying, vacating the place means Conceding Defeat, I say "how preposterous!!" Can we say we have victory over BH in the 14 L.G.As under BH control now?
They want a Government, and a Govt cannot Function without People to rule over!
BH is setting up Courts, marrying women and eating food left behind by fleeing residents! Recruiting Survivors for Infiltration and Suicide Bombings through sheer fear!

When the British withdrew some of their troops and citizens from European Outposts in the face of German Advance! Was that an admission of defeat or prevention of a Genocide?
Now our Troops are Overstretched, leaving Companies to defend Outposts! How long can they hold against BH attacks that come in the typical Two Wave fashion involving hundreds of Men?
As this Election don reach now, how una wan repel a Tet Offensive-like assault by BH on all LGAs in Borno?

We are making BH look super here! I see nothing special about them! They are simply using our Weight against us like all Guerillas do! Once we become Guerrillas to them also, they will melt away!
