PoliticsRe: Ndiigbo, Her Non-igbo Eastern Neighbors And The Myth Of Igbo Domination by Mapletraks:
pazienza:
Ironsi wasn't the one who dissolved the regions and their autonomy, he merely united the federal civil service. It was Gowon and Awo that dissolved the regions and created dysfunctional entities called states.

It wasn't the Igbo man that cancelled the 50-50 sharing formula between the owners of resources and the FG, It wasn't the Igboman that created the Land use decree that stole the resource rich lands of ND and made it bonanza party for all Nigerian groups, especially the Arewa-Odua.

But I have never seen you utter any anti Yoruba or Northern words on this forum, you remain innately Igbophobic, your veneer is wearing thin bro.

Are you sure you are not from the lands west of Ikalands, you now sound exactly like them, your veneer is wearing off fast and furious, better answer your father's name now. An anti GEJ SS commoner? It must be freezing in hell.*grins*
@pazienza

It was the foremost father of the Ijaw Nation,
Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye from Bonny Island,
Ken Saro-Wiwa, and other non-Ibos in the
Old Eastern Region that told Gowan to create
States. Chief Awolowo had nothing to do
with the decision as you wrongly stated above.

In the Guardian of May 27, 1999, Page 7 to Page 8, Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye accused the Ibo
of dominating the minorities and of trying to
RIVAL the Yoruba who were ahead of them.

He also said the coup plotters of 1966 were sent
by their masters. He refered to the coup
plotters as School Boys who were sent to do
the bidding of the Ibo leadership of the 60s.

Dappa Biriye also said Ironsi's Decree 33 sent
fears of domination among the minorities of the
East and the North of Nigeria in that interview.

Chief Dappa Biriye took the CREDIT for the
creation of the states that Gen. Gowan created
on May 27, 1967!

That is Great!

Bahia in Brazil was the major point in Brazil
where thousands of Yoruba captives from Nigeria and Yorubas in Benin Republic landed.

Some returned to Nigeria after the slave trade ended and many became very wealthy.

The Alakija family came back from Brazil. Candido DaRocha was of Ijesa ancestry whose father also came back from Bahia in Brazil. Candido DaRocha built the Water House on Kakawa st. Lagos Island with another exact replica built by him in Bahia, Brazil in the late 1800s[DaRocha was a very rich man and he was the father of the founder of ADRAO International School, VI].
^^^^^^
^^^^^^
PS. Candido DaRochas mansion is located at
Number 12, Kakawa Street, Lagos Island
at the Junction of Kakawa St. and Broad Street.

It is the place were he lived and it is known
as the Water House - a classic Brazilian architectural work built before 1900!
PoliticsRe: Why Do Fulanis from Kwara Like Adopting Yoruba Names: Like Kolapo And Bukola by Mapletraks: 4:07am On May 16, 2015
StOla:
First of all, your question should be Ilorin, not Kwara. Kwara has distinct Yoruba regions like Offa and others, and distinct non-Fulani and non-Yoruba regions too.

Concerning Ilorin, The inter-marriage between the Fulani occupiers and Yoruba natives is majorly responsible, while name adoption is limited to very few insignificant instances.

For Bukola Saraki, of his 4 grand parents, only one is Fulani (whose ethnic homogeneity is even in doubt), the remaining 3 are Yorubas.

So Bukola's claim to being Fulani is just the surname.

I want to believe the Yoruba name of the Emir of Ilorin is Folorunsho, not Kolapo. I doubt if I'm wrong.

The present governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, is a full blooded Yoruba man from outside Ilorin, same with late Mohammed Lawal who was even from Ilorin (who ruled before Bukola Saraki).

Concerning Tunde Idiagbon, I fail to see any Fulani connection in his name.
^^^^^^^
In the late 1990s, I read a copy of Tempo Magazine where the Head of Afonja Descendants
said Tunde Idiagbon was of cattle Fulani ancestry on the paternal and maternal sides. Pa
Kasumu who is the Head of Afonja nearly knocked me off my chair with that statement.

I didn't know whether he was just being sarcastic
with that comment. More than 90% of Ilorin is of
Yoruba ancestry and even Sir Allan Burns who
was the Acting Governor of Nigeria in 1942
clearly stated in his hugely popular book
The History of Nigeria that Ilorin is one of the
LARGEST Yoruba towns on Page 33 of his book
which was published originally in 1929!

Yoruba is the lingua franca in Ilorin and the
smaller Fulani who arrived before 1900 had inter-married with the Yoruba just like it happened in Nupeland when they inter-married
with the much larger Nupe.

Bukola Saraki's quarter is a Yoruba one and
his paternal ancestry has strong Islamic scholarship attached to it. He also has a mother
from the Owo Royal family in Ondo State.
The late Olusola Saraki's mother hailed from
Oyo State.

A lot of myth and urban legend has surrounded
the paternal lineage of the Sarakis and ONLY
a DNA test for ancestry checks which is
available in the US and United Kingdom for
example can lay everything to rest.

That is a very interesting post you
made there. You didn't indicate your
SOURCE of information or did you simply
post this offhand?

There is a place known as Ogbaland in Rivers State whose king goes by the title of Oba and
their ancestry is Edoid just like the Akure-Edos
who occupy a quarter in Akure. Owo also has
a strong link with the Edos because over 10 years ago, I read about a man who had the
title of Odion of Owo.

Ado-Ekiti also serve as a war camp for the
Bini army. Ado is the Yoruba pronounciation
for Edo as used in Ado-Ekiti and Edo ancestry no
doubt runs through especially Western and Southern Yorubaland as a result of the presence
of Yorubanised Edos[mixed Edo-Yoruba].

FamilyRe: 40% Of First Borns Are Not From Their Fathers- Dna Expert Reveals by Mapletraks: 12:31pm On May 15, 2015
UGLYS:
This will shock you like PHCN’s high tension wire.  How will you feel to raise a child only to find out he is not yours. Lagos DNA expert, Dr. Oyinwola Azeez has revealed something thought provoking. According to Dr. Azeez 40% of the first borns are not from their so called fathers. He spoke to City People Magazine from his Lagos based hospital. Read him:

I can tell you this happens to so many men. Do you know that 40percent of most of the first born don’t belong to their so called biological fathers; all over the world, reason? Most of the ladies often have one or two boyfriends, he said.

Mr Oyinwola however said he ventured into the trade after his own personal experience. He lost his wife and decided to give another woman a chance. He met this lady in London and invited her to Germany when he went for a visit. She came, they made love and that was it. After one year she called him to say, well that night’s love making has resulted into twins, he was shocked and then said okay. Continue…
After a while, he flew to London at exactly when the twins were one, he went with one of his friends and they had a birthday celebration for the kids. He started taking responsibilities, after two years he bought her a car.

After the whole scene, it was already four years that he lost his wife and wanted to give marriage a second chance. So he flew to London again, but before flying he told his brothers about the twins and said, he will carry out a DNA test, and if they were his he will be bringing them home, his brother agreed and he left. When he got to London, they went for a DNA test, while waiting for the test, they flew to Italy for dinner. After a while when they got back to London, he remembered the test and said, Lady let me check my mail, lo and behold the kids were not his. He was disappointed and he left.
But before then, he was already planning to move her in to Nigeria. She was already dictating to the carpenter the way she wanted her room to be and so on. The whole plans got shattered because she lied, that was how I would have been training another man’s children, he explained.

***Similarly, I was glued to my radio during a family section program and heard another shocker; A woman was married to a man and they had Four (4) kids. All Four children do not belong to the man and all Children had different fathers.

So here was my thought, Perhaps the man was incapable of having children and the lady doesn't want to lose her husband and her home. If she had fathered the children via One man, then I Can categorically tag her a "A heartless cheat". Mind you, she still cheated but maybe compelled to do so due to prevailing circumstances.

But these are my thoughts, what will you do as a man, if you discover that you aint the father of your first son or Four children?
^^^^^^
All men should absolutely conduct DNA tests
on all their children very early in their lives
because a lot of women cheat these days
especially towards their fertile periods if
they feel emotionally neglected or they do
it for fun[some of them].

Yeah, old Havana in Cuba, the Yoruba or Lucumi traditions, religion and language are
still very much alive.

Prof. Wole Soyinka is very popular in Cuba as well as the current Ooni of Ife who first visited
the house of Oodua or Yoruba descendants in
1987 and later in 2001. He was received by
Fidel Castro on both occasions.

For over 15 years now, I have read extensively
about the Yoruba Descendants and religion/music in Cuba and I can say that Yoruba
influence is even stronger in Cuba than in
Brazil because the Spanish in Cuba were less
repressive to Blacks on the slave sugar
plantations and estates.

I must also add that in the Matanzas Province
of Cuba, the Efik, Ejagbam [Ekoi] and Ibibio culture is still
alive via the Ekpe society, and art![They are
known as the Cuban Abacua]

Up to 175,000 Yorubas from Ijesa, Egba, Oyo, Ketu in Benin Rep. were shipped to Cuba
in the 1800s alone and almost an equal
number to Bahia in Brazil!

Words such as ere, ijo, ile for example are noticeable in the tropical music of Cuba.

Last but NOT least, the wealthy Nigerian
billionaire business mogul - Ambassador
Antonio Dehinde Fernandez's Yoruba ancestors
returned from Cuba and settled in Lagos Island
like most Yorubas who returned from Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad, Sierra Leone, and USA via Liberia
did.

PS. The Alakija family patriach of Egba-Brazilian
returnees was Sir. Adeyemo Alakija who dropped
his Brazilian name of Placido Assumpcao after
reading law in the UK in 1913 from the Middle Temple. He was a very rich
man in his days and co-founded the iconic
Daily Times. He was the first Nigerian to
be knighted by the British royalty[King George VI], Queen Elizabeth II's father.

You need to know before you give false information that the Eastern ports in Calabar, Onitsha, Warri, PH are NOT seaport - they are river ports that need very expensive annual dredging. This is not economically viable since
there is NO destination of cargo[industrial presence-even PH river port which is much closer to the sea does NOT have major industrial
or manufacturing going on for large ocean going
ships to discharge and lift goods].

Those river ports were created for political
purposes and are not viable. The South West are
fortunate to be closer to the sea/ocean with
massive industries in Ogun and Lagos States.

Hopefully with Lekki Deep Sea Port and Ibaka in Ibeno coming on, the Apapa Port will be under
less pressure. Lekki and Ibaka will be for large

@bold...you would never know what I know because you are not in my head. And you can't judge what I know based on a few lines you read on the internet. You don't even know me an inch. I have had this particular argument in the past before in 2013. Going through my posts of 2013 will prove this. I suppose you are an adult, and not a child, and expect some level of decent reasoning from you.

As for the issue of migrants, academic sources recognize that the Yorubas in Togo and Benin are migrants from Nigeria. Nigeria is their main dormot, from where they spread to other regions. Whether recent or early migrants, they are Nigerian immigrants in that sense. The whites of US today who claim natives are immigrants from Britain who settled in the US. We all know their origin - europe and we all know where they will go back to when the time comes. The whites may be 'natives' in America today, but they are immigrants and they recognize they are immigrants, US land originally belongs to the Red Indians. Same goes for the africaners of South Africa are descendants of dutch immigrants who settled in SA. They struggle for land with the black african natives as if they own the land, when they are only but mere immigrants.

I am only regurgitating what I have read from academic sources. If you have issues with accepting the fact that Yorubas are migrants in Benin and Togo, redirect your hyperventilation towards the academic sources that brought it forward. I don't expect to teach you common sense.
^^^^^^^^
@bigfrancis

Yorubaland extends into Benin Rep. and Togo.
Indigenous Yorubas of Togo are known as the Ifes who occupy the Atakpame Province. Emmanuel Seyi Adebayors parents are NOT indigenous Yoruba Togolese but are Yoruba Nigerian traders who settled in Togo.

Yoruba Benenoise can be found in several
towns in that country: Porto Novo is a Yoruba town with a Yoruba name called Ajase. The Yoruba kingdom of Ketu in Benin Rep. is another.

It was the colonialists that balkanised the Yoruba into 3 countries - just like they divided Hausas, Kanuris, Ekois of Akwa Ibom into 2 different countries sharing the same international boundaries.

To correct the FALSE info you gave above, the Yorubas who are indegenous to Benin Rep. and Togo are NOT Nigerian Yorubas who migrated to
Togo or Benin, they are on Yorubaland in those countries as a result of the spread of the Oyo Empire.

Enough said.

A trader at Alaba International market, Ojo, Lagos, western Nigeria, and leader of an 8-man trans-border robbery gang, Nnamdi John, has confessed that he led a successful robbery operation during which they carted away N100 million.
He said he used his share of N28 million to build a mansion in Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The 42-year old John was paraded along with seven other members of his gang by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti on Thursday.

Those paraded along with him include Samuel Igbi, 59, Anthony Umeh, 38, Chinenye David, 29, and Uchenna Ezeh, 35.
Others were Victor Anamalechi, 45, Iheanacho Igwe, 35, and Desmond Obinna, 32.
The Abia State-born John said he used part his share of the proceed to build a magnificent mansion at Igando where he lives with his family, adding that he also bought other properties with the robbery loot.
The father of three said he was a trader selling musicsal instruments at Alaba market before he decided to join robbery after he discovered that he was not making enough money in his business.
He said after he was introduced into robbery by his friend he identified as Okonkwo, it did not take long before he became rich.
John also revealed that their robbery operations were carried out beyond the shores of Nigeria as they raided other African countries such as Niger Republic and Mali where they made huge sums of money in foreign currencies.
He said his men raided a community bank in Port Novo in Niger Republic, and a Bureau de change and filling station in Mali.
In Nigeria, John confessed that his gang has been involved in robbery operations in Ikorodu in Lagos, Port Hacourt in Rivers and Kano State.

John confessed that one of their biggest heists was their robbery operation in a bank at Alakija area of Lagos where they carted away N100 million and shared it.
Parading the suspects, Aderanti said he received information about some deadly trans-border armed robbers in Iba, Festac and Igando and immdiately directed the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, led by Abba Kyari to go after them.
He said the SARS went to their hideout at Victory Estate, Iba along LASU/Igando Road where Igbi and Umeh were arrested.
He said their arrest led to the arrest of other suspects including their leader, John, and seizure of their operational Toyota Sienna Space bus with registration number, KSF 876 CU.
Aderanti said two AK47 rifles and 11 AK47 loaded magazines were recovered from the gang.
•The house he built in Igando with robbey money

I m not a fan of Bode George but his take on Tinubu should not just be wave aside. He talked about Tinubu's primitive aquisitive tendencies, even Tinubu ally would agree to this deep down in their heart. If Tinubu do not mellow down, it won't be long before him and Buhari would fall apart.

My friend Bode George is delusional

and talking trash. This man even refered to

Musiliu Obanikoro who is a grandfather as a boy!

This is the second time that he would be calling Obanikoro a boy simply because Koro said he

suspected that Bode George and Prince Ogunlewe might be APC moles in PDP after the Lagos PDP governorship primaries.

Thought of keeping mute concerning the issue of indigenous lagosians, but the way and manner some ignoramus reiterate "lagos is no man's land" is nauseating. Its only shallow thinkers, superficial beings, greedy people and bigots, who have this notion. If a deranged junkie spewed that out, doesn't mean its a fact.
In a likewise manner can that be said about kano, onitsha, port-harcourt, where all ethnic groups converge for businesses.
Likening the matter to a man who calls is neighbor to a meal, prepared in his own house, the neighbor then holds the owner's hand and says this food belongs to everyone.
If lagos is no man's land, then Niger deltans should stop ranting about "our oil", if lagos is NO man's land, tell that to the obi of onitsha, that a yoruba man should be his chief, if lagos is no man's land, then kano belongs to who , the igbos or urhobo ?.if lagos is no man's land then the igbos should present a hausa man as their king. The over indulgence enjoyed by non-indigenes of Lagos can not be accepted by any other ethnic group Elsewhere. The truth is we are all citizens of Nigeria at the same time indigenes of our different state respectively. We are one NIGERIA but belong to our respective states, though this sounds ambivalent concerning our unity, but its the fact.
IGBOS OWN THE SOUTH EAST, HAUSAS OWN THE CORE NORTH, YORUBAS OWN THE SOUTH WEST INCLUDING LAGOS.

[b]It is Lagos Island (Marina, Lagos Island) which is less than 1% of the landmass of the entire Lagos State
that was the administrative capital or Federal Capital of Nigeria from 1906-1991.

However, with the creation of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja in 1976, "Lagos Island" ceased to be the
capital of the State which was moved to Ikeja. Equally, with the formal relocation of the seat of the Federal
Government to Abuja on 12 December 1991, Lagos Island ceased to be Nigeria's political capital.

Lagos State wasn't the capital of Nigeria!

There is a big difference between Lagos Island [Lagos for short or Eko in Yoruba, which is an Island town just like Bonny Island (or Bonny for short)], and Lagos State which is NOT a noman's land because the whole of Lagos State is owned by 3 sub-ethnic groups related to the Yoruba namely the Aworis who own or are indigenes of 17 LGAs out of 20 LGAs in Lagos State, the Ijebus who own the whole of
of Epe, Ikorodu, and Lekki LGAs, and Ogus/Aworis of Badagry LGA.

These 3 sub-ethnic groups are the original indigenes of Lagos State which General Yakubu . Gowon created for them
on May 27, 1967 along with 11 other new states.

Even the British Colonialists clearly stated in there official documents and historical books that Lagos Island is a
Yoruba town and it has always been so. The British never said Lagos Island which served as the British admin capital
is a noman's - land just as Calabar, the former capital of Southern Nigeria [before Lagos Island became the capital]
also has real indigenes (the Efik, the Efut and the Qua).

Ibos must desist from insulting the Yoruba by refering to Lagos State as a nobody's land or that oil money built it.

Do other states in Iboland and Nigeria not get oil money from the Federation account like Lagos does? Please let
the indigenes of Lagos State enjoy their state without this overbearing attitude from some Ibos. Even a lot of Ibos had to
relocate themselves and their families to other states outside iboland - such as Lagos State, Abuja as a result
of the criminality and kidnapping of people for ransom! [/b]

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, SAN, never hung himself as is being
bandied on some Ibo-oriented Websites I've been reading since
2004. Chief Obafemi Awolowo who was a lawyer and Senior
Advocate of Nigeria [SAN] died peacefull in his house in 1987.

I'm in my 40s and was alive then. IBB even eulogised him very well
so there was no coup plot by Awolowo against IBB which is one of those
misleading information being spread online by people who I observed are
of Ibo origin.

Stop spreading false information here... OK?

I had to just reply some of these ignorant statements
because if NOT done on time these guys will distort other
peoples' ancestral history jsut like they have been
doing on some pro-biafra and pro-ibo Websites where
they insult and abuse other ethnic groups in Nigeria - from
Northern , South-West and South-Southern [Ijaw, Ikwere, etc].

Those pro-biafra Websites [that I have been reading since 2004]
are NOT worth stating here but you can Google them to read what
massive trash these people write online. smiley

The term LAGOSIAN is used to refer to indigenes of Lagos or Eko [Lagos Island] from
time even before the creation of Lagos State on May 27, 1967 by Gen. Yakubu Gowon
for the 3 sub-ethnic groups that originally own Lagos State: The Aworis[17 LGAS],
The Ijebus[3 LGAS of Epe Ikorodu and Lekki], and Ogus who share Badagry LGA
with the Aworis!

Non-indigenes are termed RESIDENTS of Lagos NOT LAGOSIANS. smiley

Lagos Island [or Lagos for short] was also the capital of Nigeria
NOT Lagos state - as it is being wrongly bandied about by Ibos all over
the Internet and offline. Neither Lagos Island nor Lagos State is a no
man's land!
