Travel AdsRe: All Flight Ticket Enquiries Here... by marcondo13: 12:46pm On Dec 15, 2016
I am planning to travel to Austria as my final destination by 9th January, 2017. I am split between traveling from Abuja to Vienna, and traveling from Abuja to Stuttgart, before going to Austria!
From your experience, which route will be preferable based on cost and ease of connecting flights?

Congrats kid

Biochem yeah? Alright then. Been waiting for the day Engineering students will begin to do this Best graduating student thing. Last it happened was in FUT-yola 2006 by Daniel Aluma(chemical engineering) and 2007 by Uyoata Uyoata (Electrical engineering 4.89). Yea there was no nairabet then and no Whatsapp. Just 2go
You are wrong because the highest CGPA recorded in the history of FUTO belongs to Celestine of the 2007 grad set of Petroleum Engineering, I think it was about 4.9,if I can recall correctly!

Somebody shud pls help me with how I can book or secure accommodation for residence permit application. I was told at the embassy to get evidence or confirmation of reserved accommodation for at at least 1year. I tried to book online, but because of restrictions on int'l money transfer from Nigeria I haven't gotten any,and moreso I cant afford the cost now cos of high exchange presently. Most of dem require deposit fee and all whatnot which amounts to approximately 1000euros which is separate from the rent itself.

If you have a way u can assist me or any suggestions, pls do so, it's urgent.

If you need help, why not state your department, school, and city ? It will get people's attention easier and even make other people in need of info about your school or department, to contact you!

1. Correct

2.The 1st police character is for three months for the legalization stuff, the period the consular will check. The next three months is for the visa processing. By then, the first police character will have expired (that's what the officer said) and that the process may enter the 7th month.

3. I will be using my brother as sponsor. so his documents will show his salary included with his employment stuffs and payment slip

4. No one is using an agent here. it's why we are sharing infos
Trust me when I say that insufficient funds or irregular account funding is the easiest way to get your application rejected! I got the 60%:30% rule direct from a contact at the Austrian Foreign Ministry and it was confirmed by Herr Helmut Brandstatter( the nice pudgy elderly bespectackled man) at the Consulate! Do not play the ostrich game because it is your life that is at stake, not his! So explain to him the consequence of depositing 60% of the total balance in his account within 30 days of your application, which is a REFUSAL! I was lucky in my case because of prayers and solid immigration legal specialists at my disposal because I was even advised to seek another country,if my appeal fails!

@marcondo13 what other thing is required apart from all these stuffs that are already listed by kwenu and do we really need to include the pry 6 certificate?

Also did you go with your other stuffs for the company e.g. cac docs e.t.c.
Anything from your sponsor, will be required during resident permit application, not during legalization because they will still check every info that you supplied and the expense is free, unlike the case of paying for the legalization of company's documents which will not be of any use in Austria!

Instead of bugging the thread with trifles, send your queries to the embassy at abuja-ob@bmeia.gv.at!

@kwenu thanks for the list. I had a free time yesterday so I flew to Abuja to confirm from the embassy.

1. The documents listed must be legalised at both ministry of education and foreign affairs except Police character certificate and Birth Certificate.

2. 3 police character certificates must be presented

3. legalisation fees is 40euros about #13, 000 per document

4. Evidence of financial means will be about 3.5million

5. Notarization at ministry of Education costs #2,500 per doc, Ministry of foreign affairs is #1500 per doc.

"Change Don affect everything"
I think that I have some objection because I was also at the consulate yesterday to pick up my resident permit but was informed that I need to apply for a visa (it takes 10 days) to get to Austria!
1. All documents, must be stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, else, the embassy will not honour it. That is a time tested fact!
2. A police character report lasts for three months! So,I think that your info is ambiguous. Perhaps, they were referring to copies!
4. Please, speak to your account officer in the bank to inform you about ways of running your account. Tell him that you want to use it to apply for a visa, because the embassy asked me to pay another 120k for a lawyer to verify the financial transactions of my company because they were shocked and suspicious of the massive cashflow.
5. Stop wasting your money on agents and short cuts! Pay directly and cut your expenses, because this is a country in recession! Just pray that you don't encounter 10% of what I have encountered, else, you will spend unneccessarily till your wallet will produce blood!
Danke!

What about graduate studies, what are the documents to be submitted to where for masters in Austria??
You will have to add University statement of result/ certificate and your result transcripts, either you collect it from your school registry or it will be forwarded to the Ministry of Education, Abuja. ( depending on your school's regulation)

I have never heard about an English taught UG course in Austria. Only a few schools offer English taught PG courses, like the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Montanuniversitat Leoben, Steiermark.

incomplete application. I certified my docs at ministry of foreign affairs and education. Now I am requested to certify at Austrian embassy but before it's usually after getting admission
Nope. That has always been the rule, except you are applying to a private university! Legalization of documents is compulsory ! Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then payment for lawyer's verification and then, payment for legalization of the verified documents!
Then, you can apply for admission!

@ Robertito7, how far with your application?
TravelRe: Working Legally In Austria by marcondo13: 2:56pm On Dec 04, 2016
@ Yomijoe, it is very simple. Your sponsor need to control or dope the cash inflow and outflow from his account if need be, because that is the number one issue. The rule is simple- 60% of the total money has to be in the account 30 days prior to your visa application. I got this information directly from the BH Leoben office. He should not deposit the money in a lump sum and leave his account inactive, because that will raise a red flag!
If he is receiving cash on a regular monthly basis, that means that he can also send you money on a monthly basis.
Secondly, assuming that he is currently residing in Nigeria, he has to give you the following items if possible,
1. Tax clearance certificate
2. Recent statement of account ( 3 to 6 months)
3. A signed letter declaring his intention to sponsor you
If he is self employed,
4. A copy of his company's certificate of registration by CAC
I am speaking from personal experience. Hate it or leave it!

As a Nigerian ( we don't have agreement with Austria), we are expected to pay less than 800 euros, including student organization fees and other allied stuff. I will be traveling most likely by January 2017 for my study leave at Montanuniversitat Leoben for a postgraduate study at their DPE ( Department of Petroleum Engineering).
Please, any Nairalander already in Austria should contact me. I need some info.
@ Kwenu, it can be done in one year if you have the cash and understand how to play the system because my company have been sending staff to Austria for over four years now. The main issue is money and authenticity of documents!

I may be wrong but my contact's credibility is airtight!

The current Senator representing Delta Central,Ovie Omoagege,is loyal to him, hence, his taking side with APC. He is the bespectacled one wearing a dark cap to the extreme in the picture! So,automatically, APC has got a Senate seat in Delta State, and the only one in the South South!

CareerInternational Well Control Forum(iwcf) Free Online Course by marcondo13(op): 8:32am On Jun 05, 2016
The IFP MOOC on oil and gas has come and gone. The International Well Control Forum has launched a free online course.
The new Level-1 Well Control awareness course is the first free, online based course aimed at personnel who have secondary involvement in well operations, for example office based staff or third parties who are involved in rig operations. The course is also a useful e-learning tool for students and graduates wanting to enter into the industry, or those who simply have an interest in learning about well control.

Following recommendations from the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) in Report 476 after the Macondo tragedy, this course supports IWCFs drive to increase understanding of how well control events can occur, their consequences and prevention methods.

Level-1 contains 7 modules including:

Module-1: Overview of Oil and Gas
Module-2: Life Cycle of a Well
Module-3: Drilling Rigs
Module-4: Well Control During Drilling Operations
Module-5: Well Intervention and Workover
Module-6: Pressure Control During Well Intervention
Module-7: Conclusion

At the end of each module there is a Knowledge Check to confirm your learning from that module. Once all 7 modules are complete there is a short exam where if you pass with a grade of 70%+ then you can print out your Level-1 certificate from home!

A user guide is available for you to use here.

If you have any problems accessing Level-1 or you have any questions please contact level1@iwcf.org

Our Army is working.

Our military has caused us more harm than good in the last decade.

The military first carried out extra judicial killing of boko haram leader, which lead to the outbreak of boko haram. Now, its like a virus and we seem not able to contain and curtail it as a nation.

Now, they have started another one. I hope this doesn't escalate.

Now, who bears all the brunt? we; the unarmed civilians. women get raped and killed, children malnourished, men killed, economy crumpled, et al.

I hope they are found alive and well. [/quote

Point of correction, opinion is free but facts are sacred. The police killed Yusuf, the Boko Haram leader,on the orders of Modu Sheriff, the then Borno State Governor, and it was on record that he was handed over ALIVE to the Police at the Govt. House.

Is this how intelligent your are? What I asked was for you to make bold where I have said there is no university in Nigeria that offer BIotechnology as a (whole) discipline. Please do this.
Instead of eating the humble pie and accept that you made an error, you are trying to deflect and make an illogical demand based on a wrong premise. For the dumb sake of argument, you are asking me to highlight a portion of YOUR OWN post, thereby indirectly denying you ever made such a post? Right? Clap for yourself and repost your initial comment for all to read.
As for my intelligence level, I am sorry to burst your bubble, the Russians don't allow idiots to study or graduate from Gubkin University! Next time, before you question the IQ of a person in a public forum, which goes against the grain of social etiquette, I will advice you to take a Mensa IQ test if your score will be higher than the figure on a Depay shirt! If you have spent a good part of your childhood on spelling bee competitions, your grammatical compositions will not be filled with blunders! Have a nice and blissful day!

CareerRe: Is An Online Learning Certificate Worth Anything In Nigeria? by marcondo13: 7:34pm On Dec 25, 2015
As long as the school or awarding body is certified and recognized by the authorized bodies,go for it. Abi you want to compare a program organised by Oxford University, TU Graz, University of Liverpool or Walden University to that organised by University of Lagos or Ibadan? Abeg, put NUC for one corner. They are concerned with programs run by mushroom and illegal schools, not established bodies. Even the IADC well control program certification,WELLSHARP, is now online because it is cost saving and flexible.
