Here's 2 things you can do: Try tracking your phone by using Find My Device from Google: https://www.google.com/android/find Report your phone as stolen so nobody will be able to use it later on: http://imeipro.info/report-stolen-lost-phone.html Info here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-find-a-lost-phone-instantly |
If you want to buy an older used smartphone (produced before 2016), check on which network was the phone initially used. Because if it was used in a CDMA network, it will not work in a GSM one. This is because these two network types are completely different. So before buying an older smartphone, make sure it was not originally used with networks like Sprint, Verizon, Boost. They won't work with GSM sim cards. However, the new devices like Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9 support both GSM and CDMA networks. https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/cdma-networks/ |
jozz:Thanks, you need to go to "Data Usage" and turn on "Data saver" (I think this is the process, however, I don't have a tecno with me). |
nze4al:This is my fav! I use it everywhere! |
I think the Huwei P20 is the only real competitor for iPhone. That device is quite great! |
Try checking your Android OS to see if you can identify any unwanted apps. These could be viruses, or simply buggy or unwanted apps that simply install themselved without your knowing. Here's what you have to do: 1. Boot into safe mode 2. Search through your apps (go to Settings > App Manager > Downloaded Apps) 3. Uninstall any suspicious apps (or anything that shouldn't belong there - be careful not to uninstall a default app that is required by your OS). 4. Remove the Device Administrator Status of the uninstalled app: Go to Settings > Security > Device Administrator. Here, you will see all the apps with this status. Simply look for the app and uncheck the box which grants it this status. https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus Also, did you do any updates recently? Bear in mind that higher data consumption doesn't mean that you have a virus, it can simply mean that your phone needs more data, which sometimes is caused by updates. |
NaijaTechGuy:This is the most important thing! |
If I may add Dual SIM Support which is a blessing for some of us! |
GeneralBlaze:Most smartphones have built in capatibilities to support VR video. But for actual compatability, usually, it's the other way around, a VR handset will show which phones is compatible with, like in this list of Samsung VR compatible smartphones: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/samsung-gear-vr-compatible-phones But for the cardboard, I think almost all smartphones can support VR. |
Thanks, but I would also add unwanted apps making a huge load of requests in the background. Usually, these apps are corrupted or they simply installed without your knowledge. Having nasty stuff on your phone can drain it ridiculously fast. (https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus) |
Save all your important files to Google Drive. |
As far as I know, from reading some news two months ago, Huawei is already the second best selling brand in Europe, they sold more devices than Apple. However, because they are from China, they will always have issues competing in the US, where regulators and politics won't really allow Huawei to expand too much. |
I think it's all down to what you want to do with your phone. If you want to do VR videos, then this is not the best option. But if you want to use it for watching youtube and chatting on whatsapp then, yes, it's still a viable phone in 2018. |
Thank you for this information! Really useful! |
I would also add some functionality where basically all Androids are better than Apple: 1. Expanding storage capacity 2. Using Dual Sims 3. Customization https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/10-things-an-iphone-cant-do |
The G8 which will be max $300 has the same specs as a Galaxy S9 which is 3 times more expensive. Here's the comparison: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9000&idPhone2=8966 I can't believe its specs! ![]() |
Simply Google ‘find my phone’ or check out the Find My Device website: https://www.google.com/android/find It will show the last location your phone had the last time it was connected to WiFi. Unfortunately, this is all you can do to find your phone. https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-find-a-lost-phone-instantly Also, you can always report the IMEI so the person who has it now can't use it anymore: http://imeipro.info/report-stolen-lost-phone.html |
You can also request the desktop version of the website when navigating on the mobile website. |
Try with KingRoot it's an app for rooting. It should work without a PC and all you have to do is to follow the steps inside the app. |
EmilyBaker12345:The safest way to do this is by using dedicated apps like Dr Fone and Android Data Recovery or Piriform Recuva Here's a guide on how to recover deleted photos from Android https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/recover-deleted-photos-android-internal-storage/ |
I can also recommend using Aptoide, which is another App store. |
Along with the Android Lollipop 5.1 update, Google has introduced a new security feature designed to render the phone unavailable for usage in the unfortunate event when it might get stolen or lost, therefore protecting all the important data on it. However, this feature, despite being very useful, can cause some serious problems and put people in a situation in which they need to bypass Google account verification, so they can use the phone. https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/bypass-google-account-verification-factory-reset-protection FRP Bypass for Samsung instructions After performing a factory reset on the phone, wait until it reboots and prompts to choose a language. After choosing it, proceed to the next steps: 1. Connect the phone to a Wifi Network (preferably your Home network) 2. The next screen will ask you for the Google Account 3. Tap the text field in which the account should be inserted until the Keyboard comes up 4. Tap and hold the “@” character until a Settings menu pops up 5. Select Google Keyboard Settings 6. Tap on the 3 dots in the top part of the screen (or More depending on what Android OS you are running) 7. Select the Help&Feedback item and select any item in the list that will follow 8. From the Help section, tap on Using Google Keyboard. 9. Long press to select any text on this page and click on Websearch in the upper right corner 10. A search field will be shown (delete the text inside the search field) 11. Type Settings in the search field 12. Scroll down until you find“About Phone” and tap it. 13. Enter the menu and look for Build Number. Tap 7 times on the Build Number to enable Developer Options 14. Return to the previous menu and open the Developer Option that just appeared 15. Allow OEM Unlocking and tap Back two times 16. Restart the device 17. Connect it to Wifi again 18. Notice how you won’t be prompted to log in the previous Google Account and instead the phone will ask you to ADD a new Google Account 19. Add the new account and your phone will be ready to use. If you had any trouble performing these above-mentioned steps here is a very helpful video that will guide you through the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZT8rERLYDg |
The thing is you can't really track it if the guy who has the device now did a factory reset and now has another G account installed on your phone. I suggest you try to report the IMEI as stolen with an online service. In regards to your files, if that person performed a factory reset on your device, it wiped all data and files from the device. Sorry brother ![]() |
7.3 million commited to security details? Is he renting a small army? ![]() |
bisi16:That's right, disable apps working in background. And allow updates only on wifi. |
I would advise to try to find out on this network was this phone locked. If it was from a CDMA one then you won't be able to use it with a GSM sim card. Please check here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/cdma-networks Also, try to run a GSX report to find the lock status and network on which the phone was used. ![]() |
henry007:Unfortunately, this is true. Most un-savvy tech users tend to fall for this kind of scams. ![]() |
dickt:Why don't you do a factory reset or flash the firmware and install another one? |
