PoliticsIMF: Buhari Asked Us To Focus On Northern Nigeria by martynsnet(op): 7:37am On Oct 13, 2017
Oyetunji Abioye , Washington DC

The President of the World Bank Group , Jim Yong Kim , said on Thursday that the bank had concentrated on the northern region of Nigeria in line with President Muhammadu Buhari ’ s request .

Kim and the Managing Director , International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, who spoke at separate press conferences in Washington DC , United States , also advised Buhari to invest in things that would enhance economic growth.

Kim said , “ You know , in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we ’ ve done that . Now , it has been very difficult . The work there has been very difficult .

“ I think Nigeria , of course , has suffered from the dropping oil prices . I think things are just now getting better . But the conversation we need to have with Nigeria , I think , is in many ways related to the theme that I brought to the table just this past week , which is investment in human capital. The percentage of the Gross Domestic Product that Nigeria spends on healthcare is less than one percent . ”

He added , “ Despite that , there is so much turbulence in the northern part of the country , and there is the hit that was taken from the drop in the oil prices . Nigeria has to think ahead and invest in its people . Investing in the things that will allow Nigeria to be a thriving , rapidly growing economy in the future is what the country has to focus on right now . ”

Kim also said , “ Focusing on the northern part of Nigeria , we hope that as commodity prices stabilise and oil prices come back up , the economy will grow a bit more . But very , very much important is the need to focus on what the drivers of growth in the future will be . ”

According to the World Bank boss , the bank will invest in human capital in other parts of Africa in order to prepare the continent for the next phase of growth.
Lagarde, in her remarks , said Sub -Saharan African countries , including Nigeria , had posted suboptimal growth in recent times .

The growth figures , she said , were far too small considering the huge demographic potential of Nigeria and other countries in the region.

As a result , she said the IMF would be engaging ministers of finance and central bank governors from the region attending the annual World Bank and IMF meetings on how they could boost and stabilise economic growth .
Lagarde said , “ The Sub -Saharan Africa is one region of the world where growth is suboptimal . Those countries grow at an average growth of 2 . 5 per cent . That is too low for the demographic expansion of the region. ”

The IMF managing director said emerging and developing economies must invest more in their economies through infrastructural spending , strengthening safety nets , allowing women more access to the labour market and carrying structural reforms.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Interview Mistakes That Make Nigerian Graduates Look Unqualified by martynsnet: 10:24am On Oct 11, 2017
There is no sure way to get a job plus most HR guys are smarter now. They can see through your Bulls**t.

just be prepared and pray it goes well, you can NEVER be certain what employers are looking for.

it's OK to dress well but it doesn't guarantee anything, I feel like sharing this. Last month I went for an interview well dressed, anybody that knows me outside NL knows I dress good. wearing a shirt by Hawes&Curtis, Mos Bros suit, Zara men shoes, not trying to sound arrogant but I know I was in top notch looks. well prepared speech, I knew everything about the company, I was in for a kill. went into the room heads up, speaking with confidence, enough to wow everybody until one guy said "please don't bullsh**t a bullsh**ter", as in saliva tried up in my mouth immediately. the guy said "that will be all". stood up, thanked them and walked out.

There is no sure way, just be prepared and be hopeful.

she's not as intelligent as she's trying to portray herself. "Aso clinic", the clinic should be the first call for the president whenever he's sick and as we know he's been a lot. does that mean he never stepped foot in that clinic? that every little sickness requires him being flown abroad?

Can't forget the insensitive way some Nigerians who I flew with from Addis to Lagos where relating with an air hostess of ET, a group of uncouth fellows. angry
worst route ever, flew Ethiopian Airways SA to NG, connecting flight, so we had to stop at Addis Ababa. Not only did they change the plane with one old scary plane, but the Nigerians on the flight were something else.

it's flight rule not to wake a sleeping passenger when they are serving meal. so this guy wasn't disturbed, when he woke up he requested to have his meal and was told chicken n rice is finished but they have fish and rice. you need to see how this guy started reacting. I was ashamed on his behalf and as a Nigerian.

most of the passengers were Igbo and were shouting and cursing, just acting up. smh.

None of them can be said to be "SURE"

1. there's no appropriate or inappropriate dressing on a flight.

2. Maybe.

3. I can refuse to turn off my phone. instead, I can put it in airplane mode and put it away.

4. You can be drunk on a flight (if u are already boarded, some international flights offer alcohol) as long as you are not disruptive.

Because he is acting like a gay doesn't make him gay.

we all do feminine stuff when we were his age, especially those who grew up with older sisters like us.

Give the boy a break.
I grew up with women too, i was the only male child in the midst of 7 women, ladies and girls. I was their handbad whenever they want to go out. They thought me how to dress, in fact they bought all my clothes up till i turned 20. And i never acted like this kid, u need to see what am seeing. Am not a detailed writer else i would be able to give u better idea of what's up.

First am not against gay people but considering our Nigeria of today, I fear for this kid.

I recently moved in with my uncle to spend 2 months because of a job am seeking. I noticed his 11yr old son acts funny, first he likes physical contact with me, as in he just likes to hold me, cares my hands at every chance. He cares my legs which i initially thought maybe he just likes playing with the hairs on my legs but i noticed he was going higher my knee. A few male visitors have complained of his unusually physical attitude but his parents think he's just being a kid...

He likes dressing up as a girl, wears his elder sister's clothes and sometimes her heels.

He has remix Rihanna's "work" song to "twerk, twerk.....", u need to see him gyrating his butt to the song.

He acts like a sissy and cries like a girl, first time i heard him cry I was like WTF? You need to hear him complain when he's upset, his choice of words, attitude and body language all exhibits feminine traits.

There are just too many incidents and attitudes that am just not comfortable with, he's got 2 sisters and 1 brother. His brother is every bit a brut, a real salt give it to u kind of tough guy so I dont understand where this one is coming from...

I yell at him whenever i see him acting funny, I dont think yelling is a good option but i have little options as I dont know what to do.......

Responses like yours is what deters well meaning people from commenting on here, My advise was not to you, it was for that boy that needed a push, where others have failed he may succeed, why do you have such a local view to things/ have a global view and help yourself, PPL is ordinary , but it still gives me the right to fly?

That little boy needs at least a CPL and Must be instrument rated for starters to be considered a commercial Pilot, this is just the beginning as he will still do many Simulations, Type Ratings etc. why shred his dreams because you have none?

That little boy needs a push and there you go shredding the little hope he sought to find on here. Show it from your words and stop being a Douchebag!!
because I have none? Guy I just described my CV for u, I had my ATPL from CAE Oxford, so please keep calm, did u see the post about loads of pilots that are driving cabs?

U think living in America gives u an international view? Pick a place in the US and I will meet u there in a week, dont come and form shit here on NL when u dont know who is who. Swerve and let the realist people talk......
CareerRe: Help! How Do I Become A Pilot? by martynsnet: 6:26pm On Mar 17, 2017
Davinex:
Becoming a pilot is all about time. How much time do you have considering your present age. If you are still in your early 20's, it's still ok to start now. Below are the factors you must consider before you consider a career as a pilot.
Age : 18 - 20 (Not compulsory but necessary).
Type of aircraft you wish to fly. Fixed wing (aeroplane) or Rotary wing (helicopter).
Cost of Type Rating. Most airlines in Nigeria operate on Boeing aircrafts. So be ready for any of the B series if you are sponsoring yourself to work in Nigeria.
Building your flight time is very important. No airline will employ you as a second officer if you don't have up to 2000 flight hours. This is the darkest stage for any potential pilot.

TRAINING
You begin with the ground school training for Private Pilot License (PPL) or HPPL for Helicopter. You will learn the basics on gound before the flight training which is the practical section with your flight instructor. Night Rating and Instrument Ratings is included at this stage. The Night Rating give you permit to before and after sunrise and sunset. You will learn more of rating during your PPL Training.
After your PPL, you for Commercial Pilot License (CPL / HCPL) and Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).

TYPE RATING
As a pilot, you expected to specialize on one particular type of aircraft. That is where type rating comes in. We don't have a type rating training school in Nigeria, so you will have to travel abroad for this. Getting your Type Rating is a separate journey entirely (Forget about the 7 - 10 million naira that you spent during the first stage) You have to travel out of the country for this. Example of type ratings include, B747, B77, A320 etc with different price range.
please note: If you want to fly in Nigeria as a pilot, I will advice you get your PPL,IR, ME, CPL and ATPL in Nigeria before traveling abroad for your Type Rating.
I hope this will be helpful. Wishing you all the best.
Actually u dont need up to 2000hrs as a 2nd officer, they will employ u with even 300hrs or less, then they will have u on line training while u build up to 500hrs with them. Where do u intend to get money to build 2000hrs on ur own. Except u become an instructor....

fuckpro:
...the number of unemployed pilots surpass the gainfully employed ones,so much so that majority are taxi drivers and that's a fact
Once you are only pilot with no degree you are in a fixed hence the need for a degree(plan B)
Nigeria general aviation is non existent so new pilots do not have a ready system to be absorbed and build their hours
In other climes new CPL holders do not go staight to airlines, because of the legislature that prevent such but we do not have such system the Nigerian system hence a glut of pliots so do not waste your hard earn money
If only they know what's going on, nobody will even entertain the idea of becoming a pilot in Nigeria at the moment.

Did you read the part where i mentioned 'Jet Blue'?

I am speaking from Experience dude, I have a PPL but opted to do other things, Piloting is for young chaps. Best if you are in your teens , IN the USA all you need is Your High School Cert or SSCE as we know it and above 18 to be eligible to commence the training. If above 30? i dont advise it. I live in the USA dude and i know all there is to know about Piloting.

Nothing is easy? living itself is hard, if you know how many processes your body engages in just for you to stay alive, youd know that life and everything in it is not easy!

Good luck to the boy...let him follow his dreams.
Brother, I have no intentions of being a bad person or to discourage anybody. Am just telling him the bitter and painful truth.

I just laughed when I saw the ppl and US part. Brother u dont know who n who is on NL. Ordinary PPL and u think u know what it is like. Am talking about ppl with Bsc, ppl, cpl with instrument, then frozen atpl (note i seperated them because it wasnt an integrated course), with type rating and hundreds of hrs on log book roaming the streets and looking something else to do and ur here talking about PPL.

I strongly advise you against towing that

path, being a Pilot is highly overrated; unless

you are fortunate enough to be accepted into

an airline cadet program and they train you

from ab initio(basic training) to a type rating.
OP take this guy's advice, its not as rosy as u think. There are so many things u will get to find out only after u have earned ur license...
CareerRe: Help! How Do I Become A Pilot? by martynsnet: 5:35pm On Mar 17, 2017
ajalaolanr:
If you want to be successful as a Pilot, I advise you go abroad for your training, If you got the cash go to flight schools in the USA, many are in Florida and Georgia and mostly south of USA, Best there because of the weather , Budget $70K for both living and Cost of Training. Jet Blue offers after training Jobs for Pilots with CPL and also Instrument rated. You will probably build your hours through them flying regional and then you can move to international routes at about 10000 hrs .

When you have about 1500 hrs or more this you can then move to delta and other big airlines.

Good Luck!
Its not that easy brother. Frankly i would advice him to kill that dream of becoming a pilot. Except he has the money to burn, or he just wants to bear the name and not to earn from it. U would be amazed at the number of unemployed pilots in Nigeria. Speaking from experience...
