I don't know much about economics I know very little about governance but because i want to understand and i just don't want to "wail" without good reason i want to understand....Why exactly are we(i mean the Nigeria government borrowing to fund the budget)....for weeks if not months now i have tried to understand what is going on in this country and many of which doesn't make sense to me....here are things that i don't understand and i would really love clarity.

1. The 2016 budget is at an estimated 6 trillion naira and just to fund this budget the government has borrowed close to 2 trillion if not more and we still borrowing....does it mean we as a nation didn't have a single penny store somewhere

2. I remember the government introduced 50 naira charge on bank transactions some time ago to gather money for the same budget...what happened with that..how much have we realized thus far?

3. What about the money the government gathered from TSA was it not supposed to be added to the same budget.

4. Whatever happened to agreement/partnership with china the one that ensued Nigunderstandrt her foreign reserve to Yuan.

5. Several times i have read both on the dailys and online even here on nairaland that certain corrupt ministers and public office holders returned huge amount of money in foreign currencies....please why aren't those recovered monies added to the budget.

6. What about all the revenue the federal government gets from other sector of the economy like income tax vat consumption tax and other forms of taxation where are these monies going to?

Like i said earlier i am not an economics what i know are computers but with so much noise about the budget and recession i just had to show some interest.....please don't use those ur afonja or zombie or wailer term for me i just need civilized and educated minds who know more than i do to clarify...thanks.

1.Saudi Arabia with a population of 26m has 16 functional refineries, to commission another 2 of 400,000 barrel each per day capacity in 2016
2. The U.S State of California alone has 26, Texas has 19 refineries
3. Whereas Singapore with a population of 5.6million people has 3 refineries with combine refining capacity 1.3m bp/d;
4. Nigeria has 3 or 4 (non functional refineries) built in the 70s & early 80s...now obsolete...16 years of oil boom we didn't add even ONE.
5. We did not invest in our downstream sector, but handed out importation licenses to cronies & acolytes. Today we are paying the price
6. We are paying the price of our past profligacy, irresponsibility in governance and blind leadership.
8. For instance, Egbin power plant was valued at $1.2 billion. A German electricity company bidded but GEJ sold it to Sahara Energy at $470m.
9. Sahara had no previous records on power plant aside importation of petrol but we handed them our LARGEST thermal plant..
10. Easier to cry today but whatever problems we see today was created yesterday with the active connivance of all of us...
