EducationProfessional Ritual! How Theatre Arts Students Association Initiates Freshers by massmediang(op): 1:40pm On Sep 15, 2017

TASA Freshers during the initiation

That is what they call it – initiation. This is ritual which marks the process of inducting new students of Theatre Arts into the world of acting. This event took place this year in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in May for the freshers of Theater Arts Department in that school.

The event took place in an open arena as people gazed on while the process which was a bit scary went on. It looked like an fetish initiation into the traditional secret societies in town. But make no mistake, it was simply an academic exercise and everyone who participated is spiritually safe (as we were made to believe).

The students were made to kneel before a make-shift shrine made up of red clothes tied to a tree while people wearing red cloth, looking like chief priests initiated the freshers, a process that qualifies them to be called “Thepia”, a name that makes them full members of Theatre Arts Students Association (TASA). The students were involved in what looked like an oath-taking process and they were all made to drink wine from one cup as part of the initiation process. It was gathered that any student who does not pass through process will not be allowed to act on stage.

President of TASA, Daniel Okonkwo said in an interview, that this practice has been going on for ages and had nothing fetish in it.

The event looked colourful and frightening. But note that they said it was all about acting. Nothing fetish about it o.

This may sound strange but the desire for more children by the government of these countries is so serious that one of the countries, Russia, even has a special day called Conception Day when couples are given a day off to go and make babies. Just read this article.

I bet you did not know that that was a mental illness caused by the anxiety you often express when you discover that you have left your house without your phone or you forgot it somewhere. Sometime you feel like a part of your major body organ has been caught off. Other times you feel like an incomplete human being.

Well, you are actually killing yourself with a mental ailment called nomophobia. British research came up with this concept and have done studies to explain its causes, symptoms and cure. Nomophobia is the fear of being without your phone or losing your signal. A person who suffers from nomophobia is referred to as a nomophobe. Are you a nomophobe? Do you know what it does to your health? Please read this!

Christianity EtcBizarre! ‘witch’ Crashes Through Roof Top Into Church In Owerri by massmediang(op): 11:09pm On Sep 11, 2017

Roof of Royal Faith International Ministries where the Witch Crashed through, into the church

Residents of Owerri are still shocked by reports of a frightening incident that occurred in the city when a witch allegedly fell from the sky, crashing through the roof of a church in the early hours of a quiet morning.

The witch was said to have crashed into Royal Faith International Ministries, located at number 6b Onyeche Street, by Douglas Road, Owerri.
Reports have it that the incident began at about 5am on Tuesday, August 15, when neighbours sleeping in buildings around the church heard the voice of a woman shouting “I want to fly, I want to fly!” They quickly rushed outside into the dark early morning to see a woman on top of the Church roof attempting to jump and fly off to no avail. As the woman kept jumping as if she was making efforts to fly, she crashed through the roof of the church. A loud thud was heard inside the Church as the woman landed heavily.

After a while, the woman broke through the wall of the church close to the door. The walls are made of wooden planks and zinc so it was easy to puncture. As she emerged from the church, a crowd of shocked residents were outside, some of them with big stones ready to target her. It was reported that she started pleading with them, “please I am a widow, please let me go, I am a widow.’

One of the residents who spoke to massmediang on the basis of anonymity said those of them that came outside saw the middle-aged woman pleading that she was a widow. “We were afraid to go near her so we stayed where we were,” she said.

It was reported that about five vigilante members arrived the scene and as they flashed their torchlight on the woman, the touchlight bulbs blew and went dead. At this point people became more scared and stayed away from the woman as she walked away with blood-stained body.

Royal Faith International Ministries, located at number 6b Onyeche Street, by Douglas Road, Owerri, where the incident happened

Narrating the incident to massmediang, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Reverend Chris Ihekworobiri said he was not around when the incident occurred because he does not live in the Church. He said his Church had prayer meeting that Tuesday morning so he was getting to the Church around 7am only to see a large crowd of people in the church premises. “I concluded that robbers had attacked the Church the previous night and probably made away with our musical equipment. But when I got closer, I looked and saw a hole made close to the door of the church, I felt that was where the thieves had moved in and out from. But a woman who witnessed the event, also a neighbour, came I told me it was a witch that fell into the church at night.”

Rev. Ihekworobiri said when he got into the church, he saw a pool of blood on the floor directly opposite the open roof, and another thicker pool of blood that could contain about half a small bucket, at another corner of the church. “We suspect that the witch must have vomited the blood there, probably the one she drank before falling into the church. It was very thick and can get up to half bucket of water,” he said. The Senior Pastor also said he discovered that the podium of at the altar had been mysteriously moved from the center of the alter where it was left the day before to the extreme left corner of the Church, close to the altar.

Some other witnesses believe that the incident was not found newsworthy by the press because the Church involved was not one of the flashy, popular Churches in town. “It is because the pastor is unknown and his church is obscure, that is why the whole nation has not heard this. Are you telling me that if this had happened in one of those popular Pentecostal churches, anybody will be asking you where the witch is before reporting this story?” a source said.

At the time massmediang visited the church, the roof areas damaged by the alleged witch were yet to be repaid.

Recall that a few days ago, some Imo state elders allegedly came together to invoke the spirit of dead forefathers to work against Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The post was shared by a Facebook user, Ichie Chinedum Cham-Agiriga, who wrote that some elders of Owerri town came together and decided to seek the assistance of their late forefathers, against Governor Rochas.

The story has been trending online since then.
Owerri Elders reportedly gathered at the graveside of Late Sir Arugo, to lay curses on Rochas and invoke the spirit of their dead forefathers against the governor for relocating the ancestral Eke Ukwu Owerri market.

Well he seems not to care or be frightened as demolitions of other structures in the city have continued since then.

PoliticsAgain Rochas Disappoints Imo Pensioners, Dismisses Them Without Pay After 4 Days by massmediang(op): 10:03pm On Sep 09, 2017
Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha has again incurred the wrath of pensioners in the state after keeping them waiting for 4 days without releasing their money.
https://massmediang.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Rochas-Okorocha-150x150.jpg
Trouble began when the state government announced that the pensioners should come to Imo International Conference Center (IICC), on Friday, September 1 Owerri to receive backlog of their pensions. Some of them are being owed for up to 8 months.

The pensioners streamed into Owerri capital territory from various parts of the state for their pension, most of them moving like people acting season 20 of a Zombie movie (looking tired, weak, sick, and unhappy with government).

The pensioners numbering over 5000 left in the evening of that day disappointed as only about 10 percent of them were given cheques for 3 months pension. The rest were told to come on Saturday.

On Saturday, September 2,most of them went back to the IICC venue of payment but received nothing.

This merry go round continued until Tuesday, September 5, when they all returned for the pay expecting something good only for Governor Okorocha to arrive the venue at about 4pm in the evening to address them. The governor told them to go home, that the money will be paid to them on a later date yet to be announced.

The pensioners left disappointed, and kept cursing those who made them waste four days in town without paying them.

[/img][/img]
The pensioners are waiting for another date to be announced but expressed disgust over the fact that the state government should have made it clear from the first day that money was not available for the payment, instead they made the pensioners waste time and resources on wasteful trips to the city without anything to show for that.
