This sounds weird but that’s what it is. A huge python kept in Imo State government-owned zoo starved to death while in captivity following what looked like a ‘hunger strike’.

Zoo attendants told massmediang that the snake was brought to the zoo early this year but was apparently not comfortable with denial of freedom after it was placed in a cage.
The snake continued to reject food thrown into the cage by attendants until it died of starvation.

Literally speaking, the python died of ‘hunger strike’ shortly after it was brought to the zoo located at old Nekede road, Owerri.

Zoo attendants then used chemicals to preserve the dead python and keep in the zoo museum where it currently is.

A massive nationwide protest took place in Russia today to protest government plans to raise the retirement age.

Government in that country plans to raise the retirement age from 55 to 63 for women and from 60 to 65 for men. But after initial complaints, President Vladimir Putin, in a nationwide address, agreed to some concessions by reducing the new retirement age for women to 63. Yet the public was still enranged and a nationwide protest to resist the plan took place today across Russia.

According to the Guardian, thousands of people across Russia joined protests on Sunday against government plans to raise the pension age, despite recent promises by President Vladimir Putin to soften the unpopular measure.

The protests show that the proposed policy remains a politically sensitive issue for the government despite concessions offered by Putin in a televised address on Wednesday. During the speech, Putin took personal responsibility for the reform for the first time and described it as a financial necessity.

This is an expression of amazing humility coming from a millionaire.

Zhong Congrong is now know as the “the millionaire trash collector.” He is a 52-year-old successful from Chongqing, China, who has maintained the habit of walking around his street with a trash-picking claw and picking up any garbage he finds.

The entrepreneur began cleaning up the streets of Chingqing three years ago, after a family trip to southern China’s Hainan province, for the Chinese New Year. It while on that trip that he met a retired university professor who was said to have been picking up trash from one of the local beaches every day, for the last four years. Zhing was so impressed with the woman’s dedication and commitment to trash collecting that he decided to replicate her daily habit in his home city, as soon as he got back from his vacation.

The millionaire trash collector’s habit was not acceptable to all at the initial stages. Both the media and his fellow local residents couldn’t understand why a millionaire who owns real estate, car dealerships and several material processing factories would stoop to picking up trash by hand. The initial reactions were negative. People though it was nothing more than a stunt to attract attention, but Zhong didn’t let the negativity distract him.

Zhong’s wife and children were also initially embarrassed by the negative media coverage of his “eccentric habit” and refused to be seen with him in public. But as time went by, people’s attitude changed. They noticed their neighborhood getting cleaner thanks to Zhong’s efforts and started praising and supporting him. His wife is now an anti-littering campaigner herself, and scolds everyone she sees throwing trash on the street.

“Whether we throw away or pick up trash is unrelated to our academic degree, cultural background, age, or socio-economic status,” Zhong Congrong told Sixth Tone in December 2017.

‘Transgender’ Lecturer In Anambra Varsity Shocks Ph.D Students By Appearing In Class As Female

There was drama at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) on Thursday when a male lecturer at the department of Mass Communication stunned Ph.D students by walking into their class looking like a woman.

It was gathered that the lecturer (name withheld) was to teach a topic on culture shock and gender issues so he decided to demonstrate this by dressing like a transgender (man to woman).
As he walked into the classroom the students were visibly uncomfortable with his appearance and one of them wanted to walk out of the class in apparent discomfort at the sight of the male lecturer suddenly making up to look female. The lecturer observed initial reactions of the students before going ahead to teach them as a ‘transgender’.
One of the students was allowed to take photos of the drama during the lecture and the photos went viral shortly after.

The story of the lecturer’s drama in class did not go down well with some other students in the department who felt disgusted by the transgender part of the story while some others hailed the lecturer for his creative teaching techniques.

Celebrating Beauty of Albinos! Kenya and Zimbabwe Have Done Well; Nigeria Not Interested?
Kenya and Zimbabwe have made their mark on the world map as the only African countries to celebrate the beauty of albinos. These two countries have organised Miss Albino beauty pageant, despite difficulty in getting sponsorship.
Kenya was the first to organise Miss Albino beauty contest and that was in 2016. In fact, Kenya actually held Mr. and Miss Albino contest.
Zimbabwe followed in March 2018 with Miss Albino contest. It was huge, though lack of sponsorship almost marred the event. The winner of that contest, Sithembiso Mutukura, was given $85 as prize payout.
So why is it that no such contest has been held in Nigeria? Is it that the numerous organisations in the country that organize beauty pageants have never thought about this?
Albinism is a rare genetic condition where the pigment from the hair, skin and eyes is absent, also making the person legally blind in sunlight.

Albinism is a challenge in Africa which requires several strategies including beauty pageantry to address the stigma on albinos. Many African countries have a dark relationship with albinism – a genetic disorder inherited from parents who both carry a faulty gene that prevents the skin from making melanin properly and thereby giving it colour. Albinos are hunted down in some African countries by witch doctors for their body parts which are used in potions to bring good luck or riches, reports News24. Some are even kidnapped and sold by relatives out to make fast money.

But pageants can be used to inspire albinos towards brighter future. According to Miss Albino Zimbabwe, Queen Mutukura, she entered the pageant to raise awareness.

“The people with disabilities are always looked down upon even in schools. I have gone through a lot but I want people living with albinism to be brave and persevere in life,” the social work student at the University of Zimbabwe told AFP after winning the crown.

There is need to follow the part of Kenya and Zimbabwe in celebrate albinos through beauty contests. This is a sure way of getting rid of the stigma against albinism.

A teenage boy in Marimanti town, Kenya, who was seen taking alcohol with circumcised men has been forcefully circumcised.

The 19-year-old boy’s father had complained that his son had adopted the habit smoking and drinking alcohol against his numerous warnings. “Since he has been reluctant to be circumcised, I warned him against taking alcohol and smoking especially in presence of circumcised men but this has been landing in deaf ears,” he said.

He further said that that his son’s habits and unwillingness to face the knife had earned him mockery from his peers to an extent that he could not take a cup or two of traditional brew in peace. “I have not been having peace while taking my brews in presence of other elders following their criticism and mockery in relation to my son.

They had branded me as a man who never gets his sons circumcised and I have not been liking this,” he said. It is for this reason that the father authorised men from Marimanti town to force his son to be circumcised after getting wind that he was sighted in a certain bar.

The men found him enjoying a drink and drove him towards Marimanti Level Four Hospital where he was circumcised.

His family members, villagers and his agemates broke into dance and celebrations after getting information that he had been circumcised. Women from the area broke into jubilations, saying that their son was now ready to get married.

In Tharaka Nithi County and Meru community in general, boys are usually circumcised at the age of 14-15 years especially after completing their primary education course.

A prominent business man in Masvingo, a city in Southeastern Zimbabwe, has been apprehended for having sex with his wife in a hospital in front front of other patients.

The incident which took place at about 3am on Saturday happened in the presence of 10 other patients admitted in the all female ward of the hospital where the man’s wife was admitted.

Reports have it that the man who had a large shop in the city center had argued with nurses on Saturday at about 3am, insisting that he should be allowed to go in and see his sick wife.

After resisting for a while, the nurses agreed after the sister-in-charge, Leticia Manwa intervened, but they never knew the man had other plans up his sleeves.

Shortly after he got into the ward, he began to have sex with his wife and their ecstatic noise was distracting other patients who must have thought they were watching a reality TV adult show live. Security guards in the hospital who were summoned disengaged the couple and drove the man away. Reports say he was counselled before being released.

You may describe this as ‘divine’ madness but a family in Emgawini suburb, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, who have been staying in the bush for about three months say their ancestors gave them the order to do so.

The family, including a baby, braved the freezing weather to relocate to the bush claiming it was a divine order from their ancestors but the move is getting people worried especially because the weather is considered too cold for the baby.
Some congregants of an Apostolic sect became worried about the family’s health after seeing them staying in the open with a toddler.

“This family has been staying in the bush for about a month. We are mostly worried about the baby because it’s very cold.

“They get water from a nearby stream and we suspect they are homeless because no one under normal circumstances can stay in the bush during this season,” said a man only identified as Prophet Abel.

A family member who identified herself as Gogo MaMhlophe said they were following a divine instruction.

“We stay in the bush following our ancestors’ instructions. When they talk to you, you just have to act and not ask why. They will protect us from thieves and the cold,” she said.

The woman revealed that they were told to stay in the bush for three months and August was their third month.

A traditionalist who is a member of Zimbabwe National Traditional Association (Zinatha) said Gogo MaMhlophe was not part of them.

A Corps member currently in one of the the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps in Northern part of Nigeria took a photo of their morning meal and circulated online for his friends to see. The meal is beans and pap. Or rather that is what should be contained in the two bowls.

The photo which was shared via whatsapp has stirred up strong feelings regarding the condition of corpers in orientation camps. Some people are of the opinion that if the federal government can no longer fund the programme and provide fair conditions for the programme to thrive they should shut it down while some others are arguing that orientation camp is a rugged place you don’t expect to get the best living conditions since it’s just a camp.

Iraqi Airways had sacked two pilots for fighting in-flight a food tray with 157 passengers plus crew onboard.
The incident occurred on a flight to the capital Baghdad from the Iranian city of Mashhad, with 157 travellers on board plus crew.



“Conversation with the pilot became heated because he forbade an air hostess from bringing me a meal tray, under the pretext that I hadn’t asked him for authorisation,” the co-pilot said in a letter addressed to Iraqi Airways management, seen by AFP.

The letter further stated that after the pilot had taken his own meal, he “hit and insulted (the co-pilot), prompting the arrival of a security agent”.

The ‘flying gladiators’ went on with their quarrel even after safely landing the plane in Baghdad.

“The pilot again hit and insulted” his colleague, the co-pilot said, admitting that he also lashed out: “I had to defend myself.”

AFP has not seen the pilot’s account of the incident and the airline did not detail when the scuffle took place.

Nigeria and other African countries were conspicuously absent at the 2018 edition of World Snail Racing Championship. Representatives from the African continent still have not started making themselves available with their snails to participate in a event that is over 25 years old.

The annual World Snail Racing Championship took place at a summer fete in Norfolk, Eastern England, on Saturday, July 22.

Over 150 snails took part in the event and the prize was a silver tankard stuffed with lettuce leaves.

There was a hilarious beginning as the race starter shouted “Ready, steady, slow!” Instead of moving, the snails were stuck at a the start line even as the crowd cheered on. Probably the ‘athletes’ or should I say ‘snailthletes’did not hear the official.
The championship is a special occasion with different racing rules though.
The snails are placed on a special damp cloth marked with three concentric circles and the creatures race 13 inches (33 cm) to the outer ring.

At 81 you would have thought it’s time to watch others lift weight while taking a rest. Not for Japanese bodybuilder Toshisuke Kanazawa whose physic is so stunning you’ll never believe he’s an octogenarian.

Kanazawa was a multiple bodybuilding champion in his youth days. He retired at 34 and started living life the way he wanted, eating, smoking and drinking at will. At a point he looked at his body and felt bad, that this was not the body of a champion. When he was almost 50 years old he got back the motivation he needed and went back to bodybuilding. His body gradually came back to its cute shape.
Reports say that about 30 years ago, Kanazawa’s wife started feeling sick frequently, and while thinking of ways to make her feel better, the former bodybuilder remembered that she had never been happier than when he won the national championship. In order to please her, he decided to go back into the gym, drastically change his diet and regain his toned physique.

To stand a chance of losing his flabby gut and becoming “Japan’s best bodybuilder” at such an advance age, Toshisuke had to give up smoking at drinking and adopt a diet based on unpolished rice, “natto” fermented soybeans, miso soup with eggs and protein supplements, but no meat or fish because they were too difficult to digest.

Scores of angry students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) stormed the streets of Awka, capital city of Anambra State, this afternoon to protest the death of a final year student at the school medical Center allegedly due to poor facilities in the center.
The students who marched to the popular Aroma junction held up traffic for moments as they screemed on top of their voices calling on the school authorities to do something about the poor health facility in the institution. Some of them wept as the protest went on.
They brandished placards expressing their displeasure with the state of the medical facility in their school and marched to Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS) which was nearby.

The deceased identified as Francis was a student of Microbiology.

A prophet in Ethiopia is currently in trouble after failing to bring a dead man back to life.

The prophet, Getayawkal Ayele, had attempted to raise Belay Biftu back to life by lying on top of him and repeatedly yelling “Belay, wake up”.

But this method was not successful as a result of which the deceased’s family members got enraged and began attacking Mr. Getayawkal. Some them began to beat him while some others fainted at the dashed hope of seeing their loved one back to life.

Mr. Getayawkal was saved from being killed by the mob by the arrival of the police who whisked him away.

The prophet’s crime was based on the fat that in Ethiopia it is a crime to abuse the dead; and Mr. Getayawkal’s action was viewed as abuse of the dead.

Since abusing dead bodies is a crime under Ethiopian law, the police arrested Mr. Getayawkal and a local police commander has told the BBC that the man, whose real job is as a health worker, is now in custody.

The incident was filmed and has since gone viral on social media.
Residents in the small western town of Galilee, in the Oromia region, said Mr Getayawkal first went to the bereaved family and told them the story of Lazarus – who according to the New Testament was brought back to life by Jesus.
They then appear to have agreed to dig up Mr Belay. After the failed resurrection, several members of the family fainted on the spot while others became angry and started beating Mr Getayawkal – at which point police arrived and arrested him.

A Software Engineering Student in a Chinese University is currently in trouble after he was found to have hacked into his school’s computer system to give himself pass grades.
The incident happened in Dongguari University of Technology, South West China. Officials at the school said the student identified as Zhou is a software engineering senior, adding that he had given himself passing grades on five separate exams that were required to graduate.

Strong suspicions piqued after school employees noticed an unauthorized login and simultaneous changes to marks that had not gone through the teacher approval process.
Investigations began with series of interviews and comparison of records, and all signs pointed to Zhou.

He had initially denied the allegations but later admitted to the forgery after much pressure.

A young lady who died in a car accident one week to her wedding will finally rest ‘fulfilled’ as her fiance has gone ahead with the ceremony by officially wedding her corpse.

The woman is said to have been in a relationship with her fiance for five years and had always wished to marry him. Families of both the dead woman and the man agreed to fulfill her wishes by ensuring that the marriage happened as a way of giving her a colourful sendforth, reports Face of Malawi.
The place where this happened was not stated by the social media user who shared this information online with pictures taken at the wedding ceremony.

The man was present to ‘exchange’ marriage vows with the woman’s corpse and kissed her afterwards. How she responded “I do” during the ‘exchange’ of vows was not exactly stated in the report.

A popular Prophet and Church leader in Zimbabwe has been given two separate burials at the same time by his church and family members due to serious feudamong church factions.

Aaron Mhukuta Gomo (94), popularly known as Mudzidzi Wimbo, leader of Johane Masowe eChishanu Vadzidzi VaJesu Church died last Thursday in Harare after a long illness and was buried at the church’s shrine in Shamva the following day.

As that was happening, his children and close family members who did not attend the burial held at the shrine of the white garment church because of bitter infighting in his church, held their own funeral wake at their homestead a few kilometres away.
Gomo is said to have prophesied that former president Robert Mugabe would become Zimbabwe’s first leader, and this led former President Robert Mugabe to develop interest in solving the feud in Gomo’s church but to no avail.

The nonagenarian left his family in 2015 following an acrimonious dispute and settled at the shrine. His children claimed he was being kept at the shrine against his will, reports Bulawayo24.

Mugabe tried to intervene in the dispute and even set up a cabinet committee to investigate claims that Zanu-PF succession politics was at the heart of the infighting.

The fight between the church and Wimbo’s children raged until his death and his funeral on Friday could not unite the warring parties.

His son Abevaishen, who doubles up as headman, described the church’s conduct as ungodly.

“There is conflict between church members and the family because of the way he left here and started staying at the shrine. He was forced,” Abevaishen told The Standard at the family homestead after Wimbo was buried at the shrine.

“The matter was brought before former president Robert Mugabe and a committee was set up.

“It made enquiries, but nothing happened. We were expecting that with the new leadership, things would be corrected, but that has not been the case.

Pepper-Eating Festival Kicks Off In China, Man Wins Day One By Eating 50 Chili-peppers In 68 Seconds
The 2018 edition of an annual chili pepper festival kicked off Monday in central China’s spice-loving Hunan province with a chili-eating contest in which the winner set a blistering pace by downing a gut-busting 50 peppers in just about 68 seconds.
The festival lasts until the end of August, with a fresh chili-eating contest held daily.

Winner of day one of the contest, Tang Shuaihui, cleared his plate in just 68 seconds in a contest held in nearly sweltering temperatures weather and as competitors sat in a shallow pool filled with water and three tonnes of floating chilis.

He took home a 3-gramme 24-karat gold coin for winning the competition, which is organized by a local theme park in the county of Ningxiang, China. The competition is now in its second year.

Ten contestants each held plates heaped with 50 Tabasco chili peppers and battled to be the first to finish off the red-hot fruits, while doctors watched by the side.

Tang cleared his plate before other in just over a minute.


“He finished them at an amazing speed, barely after the emcee had finished speaking,” said Sun Minying, an employee at the theme park, called the Tanhe Ancient City.

When it has to do with culture certain practices are seen as no-go areas no matter what the outside world thinks. When it has to do with women torturing fellow women in the name of culture gender activists do not spit the same venom they are likely to spit if it were men perpetrating the act. This is not to say that women do not condemn harmful cultural practices but they scarcely win such wars if fellow women are behind the barbaric practice.

How else can you describe the fact that in the 21st century a cultural practice called ‘br3ast ironing’ still exists among humans in normal societies? Even the term alone sounds scary and difficult to believe.


Br3ast “ironing” is the use of hard or heated objects to try to stunt breast growth in girls. It is not like it’s a picnic for the girls involved. It is as terrible and painful as it sounds. Checkout the process involved:

When girls begin to show signs of puberty, mothers start “ironing” their br3asts, using heated tools like stones, spatulas, and pestles to pound or massage their chests, in order to prevent them from developing. The practice is also known as “br3ast flattening” or “br3ast sweeping,” according to Newsweek. Another technique adopting to achieve br3ast flattening is a mother may also wrap bandages tightly around he daughters’ chests. This ritual is mostly performed on the breast of the young adolescent between the ages of 10 to 19.
Read the details of br3ast ironing process as described by International Centre For Investigative Reporting: “Breast ironing ranges from using heated leaves to massage and knead the breasts, to the use of baked grinding stone to crush the girls’ budding breasts. There are however two widely used methods in carrying out this inhumane practice. The first involves heating tools like metal, sticks, heavy stone, pestles, spatulas, spoons, rocks, grinding stones, hot coconut shells, leaves, and hammers over hot charcoal fire, and then pressed on the young breasts, with the aim of flattening them or stunting their growth…. The heat from the tools is required to melt the fat on the breasts, so as to stop them from growing or bulging. The second involves wrapping the girl’s chest very tightly with an elastic bandage overnight for a long time; sometimes as long as a year. This latter method is less preferred as it makes the girl uncomfortable for a long time.” Scary isn’t it? Like something out of a horror movie.
Br3ast ironing, like female genital mutilation is a practice that is said to be perpetuated “in the interest of the girls.” It is a traditional practice that is widespread in West Africa. It is a practice still widespread in Cameroon, where one in four teenagers is subjected to the traumatic process by relatives, often hoping to lessen their sexual attractiveness. Br3ast ironing is an age-old practice in Cameroon, as well as some other African countries like, Central Africa Republic, Benin, Chad, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Kenya, Nigeria, Togo and Zimbabwe. According to a report by the United Nations, breast ironing affects about 3.8 million women around the world, with Cameroon having the highest number of cases in the world. Cases have also been reported in the UK and as many as 1,000 girls from West African immigrant communities in the UK are believed to have undergone “breast ironing,” The Week reported. For instance, about a thousand women in the United Kingdom were reported in 2016 to have been subjected to breast ironing. The victims who lived in West African communities in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Luton, Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield and Leeds mostly had their breasts ironed by their mothers, reports UK’s Mirror.

So what reasons do women give for putting their daughters through the unbelievably inhuman process of br3ast ironing? One major reason is that the mothers are worried that their daughters’ budding br3asts would expose them to the risk of sexual harassment and even rape. One woman identified as Philomene Moungang, who “ironed” her daughters’ br3ast said, said she started “ironing” the girls’ bosoms with a heated stone, reports smh.com.au. “I did it to my two girls when they were eight years old. I would take the grinding stone, heat it in the fire and press it hard on the breasts,” the mother said. “They cried and said it was painful. But I explained that it was for their own good….When I was growing up as a little girl, my mother did it to me just as all other women in the village did it to their girl children,” Mrs Moungang said. “So I thought it was just good for me to do to my own children.” Though “br3ast ironing” is not exclusively performed by mothers on their daughters, the practice is typically carried out by a girl’s mother or a female relative; But in some cases, girls have “ironed” their own breasts, Newsweek reported.



You can imagine that. We are not discussing stone-age cultural practice. We are talking about something that still happens today in parts of Africa. And society seems to be accommodating this as a “rich” cultural practice. “If society has been silent about it up to now it is because, like other harmful practices done to women such as female genital mutilation, it was thought to be good for the girl,” Dr Ndonko said. “Even the victims themselves thought it was good for them.”

Does this practice have side effects? Sure it does and the mothers who do this cannot pretend not to know about this. Who knows; they may see it as collateral damage to save a cherished cultural practice. Br3ast ironing has many side-effects, among which are severe pain and abscesses, infections, breast cancer, and even the complete disappearance of one or both breasts. The practice can also be both physically and emotionally traumatic. The girls who face this terrible experience confirm the physical and emotional discomfort the practice brings upon them. “Every morning, before going to school, my mom makes me lift up my top so she can make sure I haven’t taken my bandage off,” a 14-year-old Cameroonian girl told French photographer Gildas Paré, whose project Plastic Surgery Dream spotlights victims of the practice. “It’s been two years now and she still checks it on a daily basis. It’s humiliating. I’d like her to stop.”



The practice is said to be most common in the Christian South of the country, rather than in the Muslim North and Far North provinces, where only 10 per cent of women are affected.

Just check the next sentence out. The “br3ast ironing” process may make girls feel ashamed of their bodies. It has also been observed that this inhuman cultural practice is not even effective as it does not stop br3asts from developing. So what is this cultural practice still doing hanging around communities when those perpetuating know it is not ultimately achieving its aim? Check this fact out – While the practice is misguided, such fears of early pregnancy, marriage, or rape are not unfounded. According to UNICEF, 38% of children in Cameroon are married by their 18th birthdays. More than a quarter of adolescent girls are mothers, and 20% of them drop out of school after getting pregnant, the Cameroon Medical Council reported. So how is this practice still being curdled by women in Cameroon and other countries involved when records show it is a failure?

This is how Stop Violence Against Women, a human rights, group described the meaninglessness of br3ast ironing: “Contrary to the beliefs of its proponents, this practice has not stopped girls from becoming sexually active or becoming the victims of sexual violence. Instead, the practice has led to an inability to produce breast milk, cysts, lesions, and to the development of cancer in young women. The practice is painful for those who experience it and often results in the destruction of breast tissue, making girls vulnerable to breast infection, itching, and abscesses.”
In fact, unfortunately, Cameroon also has one of the world’s highest rape incidences with almost half a million rape cases recorded yearly (excluding cases not reported as a result of stigmatization).

Bulawayo24News reports that floor polish makers are reportedly using condoms when “cooking” their product because they become a “high shine” floor polish.

The report says condoms replaced what was the popular ingredient, empty Sta-Soft containers because of the long lasting shine they produce as well as easy accessibility.

A floor polish maker who feared being identified thinking that she could be arrested (which won’t happen anyway) told B-Metro that the formula was arrived at after years of trying different plastics in the cut-throat home made floor polish industry.

“There is stiff competition and one has to make sure she makes polish which is easy to apply and shine. Someone recommended use of condoms and it proved to be very good compared to plastic containers,” she said.

A 34-year-old man from Masvingo, South Eastern Zimbabwe has been jailed for four years after raping his 14-year-old daughter to stop poverty.

The man said his uncle gave him the advise which would stop poverty in his family.

The man had been sleeping with his daughter four months before the relationship leaked. The man from Ndiweni Village under Chief Mapanzure brought business at Masvingo criminal court to a halt when he suddenly broke into tears while defending himself before provincial magistrate, Mr Langton Ndokera yesterday.

The victim who cannot be named because she is a minor, told the court that she had consented to sex with the father, as she also believed that it was the only way their poverty could end.

The man was convicted on his own plea of guilty to having sex with a minor and sentenced to five years in jail. Mr Ndokera suspended one year for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The accused wept uncontrollably saying he started having sex with his daughter when an unnamed uncle told him that it would end the family’s poverty.
“My uncle advised me that if I sleep with my daughter the poverty that is bedevilling our family will end,” said the man as he burst in tears.
